PokeTweet

In this edition of PokeTweet, we are going to hear the thoughts of PE2K’s Twitter followers have concerning this week’s Pokemon of the Month: Togekiss.

One of the first tweets we are going to look at comes from Maxrodda who said:

@pe2k The fact that it learns aura sphere makes it pretty good. And it was one of my top pokemon…Plus my friend hates them since Cynthia’s know so many different moves

Togekiss indeed learn many different moves via TM and breeding. Just by looking at the TM list, Togekiss can learn: Flamethrower, Solar Beam, Brick Break, Grass Knot, and Shock Wave. The last of those listed moves was the one that Maxrodda mentioned in his tweet.

It is Togekiss’s diverse moveset that helped made it such a popular choice for competitive battlers. Togekiss gets access to Nasty Plot which helps boosts is already high special attack stat help give it’s special attacks it learns more power. This also includes Aura Sphere as Maxrodda mentioned.

Speaking about competitive battling, pt_Cena brought up a popular strategy that Togekiss tend to use:

@pe2k AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH AIR SLASH LOL U FLINCH

A tweet that is clearly more then a 140 characters.

This is a strategy that uses Togekiss’s ability, Serene Grace, and Air Slash. Serene Grace raises Air Slash’s chances of causing flinch in an opponent’s pokemon thus making it unable to attack during that turn. You repeat this until the pokemon is knocked out or finch doesn’t happen. This is very unpopular to do among competitive battlers but it happens. Must be very frustrating when this happens because nobody likes to be flinched in an intense battle.

Even some of our friends from PokeTwitter had something to say about Togekiss and it's pre-evolutions.

@pe2k Togekiss is very cute. I’ve always considered getting Winona one.

That is very sweet. I am sure the flying gym leader would love to have a Togekiss. The pokemon does look cute and a powerful pokemon to have on one’s team.

Even Hatcher_Gold had something to say about Togekiss:

Togekiss are way too badass for just anybody to have.

Hatcher_Gold then went on to say:

Or it just might be my Togekiss. But he totally put a whooping on Arceus.

He finishes off by saying this:

I mean, Arceus didn’t take any real damage from his attack… But oh man I bet if he wasn’t omnipotent his ass would have been SORE

It really means something if Hatcher_Gold is confident enough to use a Togekiss against the Alpha Pokemon Arceus. They are not easy to raise either since you have to max out Togepi’s happiness in order to evolve it into Togetic. Then to get them to really shine you have to use a Shiny Stone to finally evolve into Togekiss. Something that Hatcher_Gold has done in order to get such a kickbutt Togekiss.

Not all things were good when it come to our follower’s thoughts on the Togekiss line. Gastlysmama said:

@pe2k Togepi always felt like a bit of a gimmick to show off eggs in Gen II to me and Togetic wasn’t interesting enough to justify it.

It could be true that Togepi was used to show off Baby/Egg Pokemon in Generation II. Togepi was the first and only Egg you received in Gold and Silver. You could have played though the whole game without getting another Egg Pokemon. Later on you received a Togepi eggs from various individuals in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Platinum. It wasn’t until Diamond and Pearl when you were first able to catch them in the wild but only though the PokeRadar.

We got an overall look of Togekiss from ajwalker65 who said:

@pe2k in the video game, Toge is great, if a little delicate in battle. In the TCG, I’ve never thought twice of using him, never saw a need.

I think everybody would agree that Togekiss is a great pokemon to use within the video games. As mention before, it has a great movepool, a good attack power, and a great design. I haven’t used it much within the TCG but it’s could have some uses.

Lastly, I think we can all agree on what MuggleBehavior said concerning Togekiss:

@pe2k One of the best Flying type lines!

And this concludes this edition of PokeTweet featuring the Togekiss evolutionary line!
