This month’s Pokemon of the Month is Riolu and it’s evolution, Lucario. Riolu has appeared in the anime 3 times, and Lucario has appeared in the anime 9 times (Once in Sir Aaron’s care, once in M08: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, 4 times under Maylene’s care, once under Riley’s care, and 3 more times when it is not under anyone’s care).

Riolu’s Major Appearances

Riolu in Pokemon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! Part Two

Riolu first appeared in DP071: Pokemon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! Parts One and Two. This Riolu was capable of using the move Aura Sphere and it was undoubtedly very strong. It was taken away from the lab by J’s henchmen that wanted to exploit it but Ash and friends returned it to its kingdom, with Top Ranger Kellyn’s help. It also formed a strong bond with Ash.

Riolu’s Minor Appearances

Another Riolu appeared in DP092: A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine. This Riolu was featured in Meowth’s boss fantasy.

Riley’s Lucario in Steeling a Piece of Mind

Sir Aaron’s Lucario
Sir Aaron’s Lucario first debuted in M08: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. A war was about to take place at Cameran Palace. Aaron threw his staff into the ground, causing it to encase Lucario inside much like a Poke Ball. Lucario believed Aaron had betrayed him and the kingdom and was left thinking this as he fell into a deep sleep for the passing years. Years later, it awoke from that deep sleep thanks to the help of Ash Ketchum.
Maylene’s Lucario
This Lucario, under Maylene’s care, was first seen in DP066: Lost Leader Strategy!. It was training with her. It was also seen battling Paul’s Pokemon in a flashback.

Lucario was seen again in DP067: Crossing the Battle Line! where it was used in Dawn’s Gym battle match against Maylene. It defeated Dawn’s Piplup and Ambipom.

It appeared once more in DP068: A Triple Fighting Chance! where it was used in Ash’s Gym battle match against Maylene. It defeated his Staravia and Chimchar, but Ash’s Buizel and Maylene’s Lucario KO’d each other, and their battle was resulted in a tie.

Lucario appears once more in DP069: Enter Galactic!. It helped Ash and friends defeat Saturn and Team Galactic.
Riley’s Lucario
Riley’s Lucario first debuted in DP110: Steeling a Piece of Mind! where it used Close Combat on a crazy Aggron that attacked Ash.

Lucario’s Minor Appearances

Lucario makes a cameo in the theme songs Battle Frontier, Together, and The Greatest – Everyday!.

Lucario makes a brief appearance in the intro of M10: The Rise of Darkrai. It dodged Rayquaza’s Hyper Beam.

A Lucario and Froslass appeared in a Double Contest on TV in DP150: Unlocking the Red Chain of Events!.
