Bookmark and Share recently interviewed Seth McMahill, the assistant manager of product marketing at Nintendo, who is exclusively involved with the localisation and marketing of Pokemon games. In the interview, McMahill explains why he believes Pokemon Black and White 2 were developed with older fans in mind.

McMahill admitted: “Pokémon fans, in the past, always had to deal with what we call ‘grinding the grass,’ where after you get around to beating the Elite 4, it’s like, ‘What we do now? Keep going through that, or go fight in the grass where characters are 20 levels below?’”

He continued: “But this time around, this is a sequel. And all the core fans knew about [EVs and IVs] already. They’ve been talking about it constantly, and it was a big part of Pokémon. And although it was in the undercurrent before as you mentioned, this time we decided, let’s bring it out into the open. Let’s open up the complexity of Pokémon for people who want it.”

Instead of using cannons, you now have to fight against the wind in order to reach her. Skyla has 4 teams: 1 for Normal Mode, 1 for Challenge Mode, and 2 for the Pokemon World Tournament (which will be covered later). (Read more…)

It has been announced that the next English TCG set will be Boundaries Crossed. This set will include the Japanese sets, Cold Flare and Freeze Bolt which featured Black Kyurem and White Kyurem due to the release of Pokemon Black 2 and White 2.

The Pokemon to be feature in this set includes: Celebi-EX, Cresselia-EX, Keldeo, Keldeo-EX, Landorus-EX, White Kyurem, and Black Kyurem. It is to be noted that Celebi, Cressilia, Keldeo, and the alternative versions of Kyurem will be making their debut in the Black and White TCG series. The art for Landorus will feature him in his Therian Forme from Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. This set will also introduce the Ace Spec Trainer cards. These Item cards have a powerful effect but only one copy of the card can be in a deck.

It is to be noted that this will be the first set since Next Destinies to not include “EX” in the name. Instead, the set name is referencing to Kyurem because he is known as the Boundary Pokemon and his involvement in the upcoming games.

Boundaries Crossed is set to be release on November 7th. It will be almost a month after the release of Pokemon Black 2 and White 2.
