Picture 1: Here are we on Saturday, the day for the World
Championships. Picture 2: Here's the staff being
introduced on stage. Picture 3: The Pokemon Card Laboratory (PCL) staff
from Japan.

Picture 1: Those are the translators in orange shirts,
who were well used in the tournament since communication difficulties are
bound to happen with so many players around the world. I liked how everyone
was color coated for easy recognition. Pokemon Professors had their white lab
coats (they looked nice, with the logo on the back), and the staff had red shirts.
I had a staff badge, but I wasn't wearing the shirt during the Last Chance
Qualifier, didn't thought it was important until I had to constantly flash it,
so I got the shirt on for the rest of Worlds. The volunteers had yellow
shirts, and the competitors wore purple shirts (although a lot of them didn't
have the purple shirt on). Picture 2 and Picture 3: Players are getting
ready for battle.

Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3: Getting ready for
battle on the first day of Worlds.

Picture 1 and Picture 2: They had to delay the start time
for quite a while, since they wanted to start everyone all at once, and it
took a while to get everything straightened out. So I was back to roaming mode
and I roamed my way to the theater area where they were showing the Pokemon
movies and the TV series as well. They also had Pokemon XD on some TV screens
so people can play the game there too. It was a relatively quiet place compared to
the tournament area where it's packed with people, so I found myself back in this area
a couple of other times to sit on a bean bag for a quick break.
Picture 3: The Pokemon characters are out and about again. Thanks to
Meowth for the clever pose with Blastoise (I was wondering where he was going
off to when I was about to take my picture).

Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3: Young or old, these
Pokemon characters sure knew how to put smiles on people's faces. I think
Munchlax is my favorite of all the Pokemon characters there (now if there was
a Psyduck, that would be definitely be my favorite).

Picture 1: The Pokemon Card Laboratory staff in their
stylish white lab coats. Picture 2 and Picture 3: Here we go, the 2006 Pokemon
TCG World Championships begins! Only 32 players from each age group will move
on to the final day.

Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3: More battle pictures.

Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3: And more battle pictures.

Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3: And more battle pictures.

Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3: Yet more battle pictures.

Picture 1: Yet more battle pictures. Well, there's a lot of battles
going on, what else I am I suppose to take pictures of? Picture 2 and
Picture 3: This is the Creative Center area for coloring and drawing. Look
at that nice coloring of Rayquaza.

Picture 1: It's Princess Peach Pikachu and Mario Pikachu! Picture 2:
Create your own card pictures. Picture 3: Back to the battles.

Picture 1 and Picture 2: I think I proved my point that there were a
lot of battles going on at Worlds by now, and I only took pictures of a small
fraction of that. Picture 3: Outside the event doors, people are lining
up for Pokemon downloads for their games.

Picture 1 and Picture 2: The top 20 fan voted Pokemon were available
for download: Bulbasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, Alakazam, Articuno,
Zapdos, Moltres, Dragonite, Typhlosion, Espeon, Umbreon, Raikou, Entei,
Suicune, Tyranitar, Blaziken, Absol, Latias, and Latios. Since all the
competitors were occupied with their battles and even the non-competitors
occupied with their side events, the line was relatively short. So if you
wanted one of the top 20 fan voted Pokemon, you got one fairly quickly.
Concluding Day 2: After the day was over, the top 32 players of each
age group advanced to the third and final day of the World Championships.
