I am so going to regret this.

[Svart] Dusclops (M)
Signature Move: None

Start off with Trick Room. I see very little that could stop us, but if that should fail, keep trying until we have it set up. Next use Confuse Ray, then Toxic, unless you didn't or couldn't use Confuse Ray, or it failed somehow, in which case use it now.

Alright, Blaziken, start off by make a 15% Substitute. Then use Will-o-Wisp. If that misses, use it again, but otherwise use Double Team.

Prebattle

The atmosphere in the stadium was really starting to build as Elbub walked towards his podium situated on the east side of the long field of grass. Glancing onto the field of play, Elbub registered the varied choices on the field. Clearly, the competitors were out to make an impression straight from the off; a Blaziken and a Dusclops? Now they would provide a battle worth the money the audience paid.

Elbub was happy to see some decent competition out there today; this would make it so much more interesting to oversee. And, hell, if he wasn't here with his free seat and pay check in the bank, he would probably have bought a ticket to see this match. Yes, all in all, he was happy enough with the situation. Whether the competitors were, would be another matter.

For example, Get Innocuous, the rather cocky veteran of these sort of battles was already looking regretful regarding his choice of competitor in this arena. Of course, he would be hard to beat regardless of his own doubts, but if there was somebody who could try to overthrow the veteran, it would be the sprightly Stinky and his energetic Blaziken. Both of those two looked exceedingly confident with the upcoming match.

As the hipflask disappeared from the mouth and into the jacket pocket, Elbub rapped twice on the podium, allowing his microphone to boom into life over the pre-match music.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this Group Four battle of the 2009 Gym Leader Tournament!" Crowd pop; this was finally going to start.

"Well, the competitors seem ready so, without further ado, let us start the battle!"

Hoping to execute her perfect plan and start by initially damaging her opponents chances, KFC leapt into action. Or rather, only metaphorically. Because the move she was performing required her to concentrate all the energy in her body to a point where it could freely flow out of her and into the arena. It started before Dusclops could even think of his actions; an intense white light began to trickle out of KFC's forehead, and began to shape and form in front of her. Before long, the white light began to take a shape; the shape of KFC herself, only marginally smaller. As the last trickle of energy left KFC's forehead, a blinding flash of light indicated that the substitute had sprung into life. Feeling just as sprightly as its creator, the substitute watched Dusclops warily, wondering what he would do to start his own assault.

Svart took a jolt when he realised what he was seeing; it had all happened so fast for him. But, true as his eyes told him it was, there were two Blazikens in front of him, albeit one being slightly smaller. He couldn't let KFC move that fast again, as it could yield dangerous results for the rounds approaching. However, Svart had his own advantage, even in this field of play. The dark energy was already building up inside of him, ready for his attack, so why should we make it wait any longer? Releasing it as an ominous, deep-purple orb, it hovered in mid air momentarily, attracting the attention of everyone in the arena. Then, just as suddenly as the substitute springing into the life, the orb exploded in an ethereal way, spreading a wave of dark energy all around the arena.

The effects were worrying, to say the least. The formerly clear sky had suddenly gone the deepest black it could have gone, and a strange purple grid had appeared, spreading from where Svart stood in the arena, out and into the very corners of the grass pitch. The purple grid caused the Pokemon to fade and reappear in a haze of energy. Then, just as suddenly as it had come, everything about the mysterious orb disappeared. The sky returned to normal, the purple grid disappeared. Everything was rectified. And yet, was it? The once slow and lumbering Dusclops suddenly looked much faster than the swift-footed Blaziken. It was clear that that would be the order of play for the coming rounds.

Indeed, it was now Svart who had the speed advantage over his adversary. And he was planning on using every second of his Trick Room to his advantage. Acting quickly, he began to channel more of the dark energy he had in plentiful supply. His body began to become hazy and distorted, disguised under a dark purple light that bubbled about the surface of Svart. Before KFC could even began to imagine what was happening, a white ray shot from the palm of the newly raised hand of Svart, and heading straight for her. Fortunately, the newly created substitute stood swiftly in front of the attack, absorbing the white energy completely inside its body, seemingly unfazed by the attack.

Smiling for the first time since the creation of her substitute, KFC realised how useful her creation would actually be against the ominous spectre. Holding her hands in front of her, some bright blue flames began to light and spark, seemingly out of thin air. Svart's eyes had barely any time to widen in fear before they were shooting his way. The flames burnt a small imprint right in the middle of his chest, causing the skin to blister and wither where it connected. The pain was almost immediate, as the damage down on his chest was enough to be noticeable. Svart felt instantly on the defensive, something which he could do nothing about. He had to protect the wound from getting any worse, so would be less willing in any attack he was called upon to perform.

In his dismay, Svart again began to use Confuse Ray. The purple aura rose around his body again, as it flickered hazily and distorted to the naked eye. Again, the bright white ray shot from his raised hand and, again, the substitute took the ray straight on. If the substitute could smile, it would, for it's defensive job was seeming to be very easy at the moment. Svart was feeling increasingly unhappy with the way the round was progressing.

It was about to get worse. Blaziken had began to sway back and forth. Now, under normal conditions of Double Team, KFC would have sped up as she went. Yet, as she swayed she seemed to be getting progressively slower and much hazier than before. But as the swaying got slower and slower, more than one outline appeared in the haze. It was truly one of the strangest things seen by the audience and referee; as KFC got slower, more outlines began to appear. Finally, as she sped back up to a normal speed of swaying, three identical clones to her had appeared alongside her, all in the range of protection against the one substitute. Madness reigned inside Svart's head - he was faced with five adversarys; three that were fake, one that was invulnerable to his status attacks and one that was so heavily protected he would be hard pressed to touch her if he tried. New tactics were needed.

Arena Notes
- The arena is under the affects of Trick Room for 13 more actions.

Referee Notes
- Svart; Trick Room (-4% energy), Confuse Ray (-2% energy), Confuse Ray (-2% energy),
- KFC; Substitute (-15% health, -4% energy), Will-o-wisp (-2% energy), Double Team (-6% energy)
- Will-o-wisps roll to burn was 26, with anything from 1-75 burning Svart.
- Trick Room means I've reversed the figures for Double Team, meaning three clones were produced rather than the normal two clones a Blaziken normally produces.
- Yay for all the reffings I had to do when I came back being done.
- Stinky, orders first please.

Teehee, I'm sprightly. :3

Okay, KFC, let's start off with a Captivate, unless he puts up a Substitute, in which case use a Fire Blast. Then use two Fire Blasts! If at any time he takes your Substitute down, put up another 15% Substitute!

Begin with Rain Dance, as we'll have a free first action. Then go for two Calm Minds, to limit the damage we take from those already-underpowered Fire Blasts.

Wincing in pain again as he felt the burn take its toll in his body, Svart decided that something needed to be done about the burn. With Trick Room still in effect, he could act faster than KFC could for the time being. So, he started his first attack by summoning a shining blue orb in enclosed hands. The light shimmered and rippled, much like water would. Before anyone could get a proper look at the orb, Svart flung it towards the sky, where it disappeared out of sight into the slightly cloudy sky. All that could be seen was a small explosion of light as the orb ruptured high above the stadium.

The effect was instantaneous; great black clouds rolled in from seemingly nowhere and a thunder clap cracked through the relatively hollow arena. Within seconds of the explosion, the rain began to come down onto the arena thick and fast. Svart immediately threw out his chest, in the hope that the rain could do something to cool his burn. It did, for the time being, but he knew that the relief was not gone. With the cool rain came a cool wave of relief for Svart. Things were looking up.

KFC, however, was not at all happy with the change in weather conditions. Almost as soon as it began to come down, her clones had vanished in an instant, with the rain passing straight through them. Within another few moments, she was soaked through, the water sitting on top of her feathers so that she began to shiver slightly. Not only that, but her attempts to captivate Svart with batting of her eyelids and showing off of her tail feathers seemed largely unnoticed by the Ghost type. After all, why would a ghost type by interested in a giant chicken.

As Svart stared across at his opponent and her clone, he began to forget all his worries of the battle; the seemingly failure of the first round, the burn on his chest and the crowd around him. Forgetting about all of this helped him to relax immensely. All that was on his mind now was how he was going to win this battle for himself and his partner. And that was all that mattered to him. Opening his eyes again, he felt much more focused about the battle in hand. He was feeling more ready than he had at the start of the battle to take the fight to his opponent. However, he had a gut feeling that he could become more focused than this. Closing his eyes again, he forced himself to feel even more one with the battle. His ethereal energy inside him began to swirl with more intensity, as if preparing for future attacks. This time, when he opened his eyes, a grin came over his face. He was really feeling better about the battle now.

Snorting at the seeming inactiveness of his opponent, KFC began to build up a great raging fire inside her mouth. Before Svart even knew what has happening consciously, a great 'kanji' symbol had exploded forth from KFC. Fortunately, his now more focused sub-conscious reacted readily to the oncoming blast, and as it washed over his body, he took perhaps less damage than he should. Not only that, but the rain that had soaked his skin greatly reduced the already lowered damage of the Fire Blast. Snorting in derision, KFC released another one of the great 'kanji' symbols of fire at Svart. This time, his reactions were even greater than before, taking even less damage with his boost special defence. Panting slightly, KFC looked infuriated that her Fire Blasts had not hit for more damage, and looked to the sky, cursing the rain. Svart, although quite scorched from the two huge fire attack, felts much better than the previous round. He was making up for lost ground.

Arena Notes
- The arena is under the affects of Trick Room for 10 more actions.
- The arena is being soaked from the heavens above (it's raining, foo') for 12 more actions.

Referee Notes
- Svart; Rain Dance (-4% energy), Calm Mind (-3% energy), Calm Mind (-3% energy)
- KFC; Captivate (-3% energy), Fire Blast (8% damage, -5% energy), Fire Blast (7% damage, -5% energy)
- Although the ALC does not say so, I believe it is wrong regarding Captivate and it should have the same condition as Attract. I can't see a Blaziken being able to captivate a Dusclops in any way. Maybe a Banette could, being of the same egg group, but not a Blaziken.
- Accuracy rolls for Fire Blast were 71 and 27, with anything from 1-85 meaning it hit.
- The base power of Fire Blast was halved due to the Rain Dance. This doesn't mean it took any less energy though.
- I fused actions two and three together, as you know what? - I really can't be bothered to describe the same thing twice in a row. You should both know my feeling, being referees as well.
- This also means that the damage should have by my reffing had -2 attack for both. Well, I've broken my own description. I treated it as action two then action three, so the second defence boost didn't technically come in until the second Fire Blast. Shoot me, if you want.
- Get Innocuous, your attacks please.

We begin with a Taunt. Next, if he Protected against it use Taunt again - should hit this time. If it worked, use Torment, and if he dodged it somehow, use Disable and see what happens. =P Third action, use Taunt if he isn't by now, Calm Mind if he is.

Okay, start off with a Protect, to guard from the Taunt. Then use 2 Shadow Claws, and let's hope for a critical hit!
