2vs2
One out at a time
DQ: Three Days
Restrictions: No OHKO Moves, No Chills, Basics Only.
Damage Caps: None
Arena: Football Stadium
Description: A large American Football stadium with a carying capacity of roughly 93,000. The field is short-cut grass, 140 yards long and about 70 yards wide. The Yellow goal posts are erect and the field is painted, prepared for a game. The stands are empty, however. All of the seats are red and silver, alternating per section and the bowl is about fifteen stories high. It is a crisp autumn day but the sun is out and it loans its warmth to the field below.

Let's lead off with a full size Substitute so he can't get you with any status. Next, use Focus Punch! And finally, use Dragon Dance.

Okay, first you start off with a Substitute too, then use Iron Defense, and finally also use Dragon Dance.

Pre-Battle:

It’s morning. The sun shines its smiling golden rays down on the football field, reflecting off the red-and-silver stands, still littered with trash from the previous night’s big game. A lone janitor makes his way through the seats wearing a pair of yellow gloves, picking up the garbage with a disgruntled grimace. A chilling breeze whips through the bleachers, carrying with it a lone, orange leaf broken off of a faraway tree. The leaf lands gently on a chair, as though itching to watch a game.

It will not be disappointed. At that moment, the low fence at once end of the field creaks open, screaming at the two young trainers for disturbing its slumber. The trainers pay no notice; they’re too busy laughing together. They reach the nearest end zone, and there they part. One trainer jogs toward the other end of the field as the janitor in the stands turns to look at the intruders. He rolls his eyes. The two combatants stare at each other from far across the field, and in unison, release their first Pokemon.

“Go, Larvitar!”
“Go, Ordario!”

A green, dragon-like Pokemon with a pink patch on its stomach and a blue alligator materialize on the field and take up their battle poses. The battle is about to begin.

The two Pokemon begin to move at almost the same time. Totodile, on the 40-yard line farther from the fence, is suddenly engulfed in a bright flash of white light. The little blue alligator emerges from the light a moment later, backing up about ten yards. Meanwhile, the light energy begins to form itself into the shape of another Totodile. It twists and warps into the blue body of the giant-jawed Pokemon until finally, with one final blast of light, the new Totodile solidifies and begins moving, a perfect carbon copy of the original.

Meanwhile, the Larvitar on the opposing 30-yard line is going through the same motions. Within moments, another Larvitar appears to have taken the green dragon’s place on the field. It, too, moves around like its living template. The two original Pokemon have moved far behind their substitutes, doing their best to fool their opponents.

Now confident that it won’t be disturbed, Totodile glares at the substitute Larvitar, mistaking it for the real Pokemon, in an attempt to make sure that the dragon doesn’t make any sudden moves. The alligator pulls its fists into a fighting pose in front of its chest, the right paw in front of the left. The gator’s right hand begins to glow with a bright white light as the Pokemon focuses all of its power to prepare for an attack. Meanwhile, Larvitar seems to be taking the moment to improve its defensive capabilities. It buckles down and concentrates on making its skin as hard as steel. As the Larvitar focuses, its skin takes on a metallic sheen, and the morning sun begins to reflect off of its green back.

Just then, Totodile attacks. While its opponent was using Iron Defense, the alligator rushed down the field, through the grass beginning to dry from the morning’s dew. As it runs, the blue Pokemon kicks up small piles of moist soil, and nearly trips once in the soft earth. However, Totodile is completely concentrated on its opponent. Or so it thinks. The alligator releases its powerful punch to the Larvitar substitute. The fake Larvitar is hurled into the air, flailing its arms, then lands on its back on the field. Totodile, not realizing its mistake, retreats with a satisfied smirk behind its substitute once again, going out of sight just as Larvitar uncurls itself, its defense-raising move completed.

Finally, the two Pokemon begin to carry out their last orders. Though they can’t see each other, the Larvitar and Totodile start dancing in an almost identical fashion. Both Pokemon flail their arms and stomp at the ground. The dance, it seems, is one that is meant to exert dominance and power over the opponent. This is clear from the way that Totodile snaps its jaw as it dances, showing off its sharp teeth, and from the way that each time Larvitar stomps, the ground at its feet is shot into the air a few feet, sprinkling the grass with soil as it comes back down, and creating small craters in the field. Both Pokemon take on a reddish hue, more alert and ready to attack once more. But they’ll have to wait just a little longer for more orders from their masters.

The second round begins almost immediately, with Totodile making the first move. Once again, the blue alligator hones in on the Larvitar facsimile, still convinced that the fake is actually the original Larvitar. The hyperactive Pokemon poises itself for another powerful attack halfway between the goal posts, staring down its opponent’s substitute with a fiery gaze. The copy stares back with equal ferocity, succeeding at keeping Totodile’s attention focused while the alligator’s right fist takes on a bright, white glow, and the real Larvitar begins its first move.

The green dragon starts its orders off by curling its head towards the ground and folding its arms tightly over its chest, as if bracing for an attack. As the Larvitar focuses, its thick, scaly skin begins to shimmer in the golden morning sunlight. The metallic sheen on the Pokemon’s body intensifies and begins even to reflect the football field like a polished mirror.

Just then, Totodile makes its move. For just a split second more, the alligator concentrates on feeding all of its power into its fist, then rushes forward. The Pokemon slams its fist into the fake Larvitar, and the unthinkable happens. The substitute, having lost the last of its health, shatters into a million shards of white light that explode outward like a breaking glass. Surprised, Totodile reels backward, then notices its opponent increasing its defenses. Realizing that its protective substitute is gone, the Larvitar completes its move and looks up, catching the blue gator’s burning black eye. The dragon smirks, readying itself to attack.

Totodile backs away slowly, suddenly feeling a sense of foreboding. Its opponent stands up on its stubby legs, and slowly walks toward the gator. The Larvitar’s already shining body begins to take on a deep, reddish glow, like a blazing wildfire. Without warning, the Larvitar suddenly leaps at Totodile‘s Substitute as the real alligator runs out of sight to avoid the attack. For a moment, the green dragon stands over its opponent, taking a dominant pose, then throws its head back and releases a furious howl. The red aura rushes from the Larvitar’s body and into its fist, then slams like a freight train into the shining substitute. The force of the attack sends the ersatz alligator sliding painfully along the turf, creating a wide rut from the middle of the forty-yard line all the way to the sideline.

Meanwhile, Totodile has been making plans of its own. Standing near one set of metal bleachers, it begins to retch painfully. Despite the painful appearance of its hacking motions, the Totodile knows it will only last a moment. As the alligator continues to cough, a dark purple substance accumulates in its mouth. The taste is nearly unbearable; it makes Totodile cough even more violently. A few specks of poison burst from the alligator’s mouth and fall on the ground, burning through the blades of grass they land on. Finally, Totodile has a full mouth. As Larvitar pulls back from its assault on the substitute, the real alligator moves toward it.

The green dragon turns, and is met by a glob of thick, toxic sludge that lands all over its body. The poison slowly seeps through the Larvitar’s skin, causing the green dragon incredible pain. Larvitar flails its arms, trying to wipe the poison from its eyes. Successful, it wheels around, looking for Totodile, its eyes bloodshot. The real alligator, however, is nowhere to be found.

Larvitar takes a moment to prepare its last move. It closes its eyes and focuses all of its power in its hands, then, with a furious yell, pounds on the ground. The energy in the Pokemon’s hands pummels the ground, causing the field to vomit stones into the air. Most of the rocks are pebble-sized, but Larvitar zeroes in one one large rock, falling quickly to the ground. The green dragon rushes beneath it, catching it in its small, but strong hands. Larvitar turns to the Totodile substitute and hurls the boulder with all its might at the fake alligator, sending it sliding across the field.

Meanwhile, Totodile smirks by the sidelines, ready to make its final move. As the Larvitar assaults the alligator’s doppelganger, the real Totodile begins a graceful dance. It raises its hands to the sky, as if in prayer, then begins to twirl elegantly. The alligator’s movements are like water flowing slowly through a river, and as it dances, Totodile begins to hum a soft tune. Suddenly, a black cloud moves slowly through the sky toward the field. A small, wet droplet lands on Totodile’s shoulder. Then, another. Satisfied, Totodile stops dancing and waits for the downpour.

Ordario, first I want use to abuse all the water from the rain, the water coolers, and the sprinkler system just inches under your feet for a Hydro Pump attack! (This stadium is actually set before the game starts so all the coolers on the sidelines are loaded.) If the water is not enough, use another Focus Punch. If at any point he breaks your sub though, putting up a new substitue is priority, DO NOT let anything get in the way of having a sub up. Next use another Hydro Pump and a Surf. But if he gets a Dragon Dance up or is going to use it, use Dragon Dance so you stay faster then him.

Oaky Larvitar first if he uses Hydro Pump set up a another Substitute, if Focus Punch go with Rock Polish to be faster than him. Next Substitute up if he does, but if he attacks with another Hydro Pump use Captivate, or if he uses Focus Punch use Earthquake. Finally if he Subs, and you broke the last one use Sunny Day to weaken his water attacks even more. If he attacks use Earthquake.

Both Pokemon jump into action at about the same times, hoping to get the better of their opponent. Totodile seems a little more alert, and he starts off by opening his vicious jaws as wide as possible and inhaling. Meanwhile, Larvitar begins to emanate a bright light. The energy forms itself into a glittering sphere and floats like a ghost to a point about a yard in front of the green dragon. Then, the sphere begins to morph drastically.

A short distance away, Totodile is inhaling water moisture as quickly as possible, taking advantage of the rain to make his job easier. Suddenly, his mouth closes, his cheeks bulging as though about to burst. With the force of a raging typhoon, Totodile releases a powerful blast of water at the forming Substitute. However, it seems that the alligator’s aim is off - the torrent of water careens just past the bright energy as though it has a mind of its own. The light dims, revealing a second Larvitar, which stretches its new limbs. Dejected, Totodile turns away to begin his next move.

The blue alligator begins the same ritual once again, this time hoping for a hit. His jaws open wide and he inhales deeply. As Totodile vacuums up the water droplets, they form a whirling tempest in front of his mouth, as though the Pokemon’s throat is a black hole sucking them down, down into the deepest depths of his stomach. The alligator closes off his esophagus, allowing the water to pool in his mouth. The jaws snap shut and Totodile hones in on the fake Larvitar. Once again, the Pokemon releases a powerful stream of water. Totodile watches with a satisfied gleam in his eye as the water careens unceremoniously into the Larvitar substitute. The lifelike fake cringes and shudders, as if barely holding on to life.

As Totodile releases his Hydro Pump attack, Larvitar dives out from behind her Substitute, not wanting to be splashed by the attack accidentally. Five yards off to the side, she begins to dance gracefully, hoping to distract the Totodile. The green dragon waggles her stony hips seductively and winks at her opponent. The Totodile’s mouth closes and its eyes bulge. He had never noticed just how pretty the Larvitar was… Suddenly, Totodile remembers the battle and shakes his head violently. He looks at the ground, and sees that the rain has begun to form large puddles. The alligator’s toes make loud squishing noises as he shifts his feet to aim more closely at the dancing Larvitar. But, much to the Totodile’s dismay, the green dragon has hidden once again, out of sight.

Totodile glances to his right and spots the Substitute, then pauses a moment to wonder how his opponent could have moved so quickly. The alligator shrugs, then begins to use its final move. First, Totodile closes its eyes and begins to concentrate. It focuses all of its energy toward the ground, where the raindrops are creating a symphony of loud splashes in the growing puddles. In front of the blue alligator, a muddy wave rises up from the puddles. The wall of water grows as it moves quickly toward the fake Larvitar, rising to a height of nearly five feet. Finally, the water crashes down on its target. As the attack lands, the Substitute is utterly flattened to the ground, once again revealing Larvitar, whose eyes are bulging in horror.

Finally, it is the green dragon’s last move. Angry at the loss of her Substitute, she thrashes about for a moment, then leaps high into the air. The Larvitar lands with a powerful body slam in the muddy ground, sending a shock wave radiating out around her. However, she is thwarted by the mud, which refuses to bend to her will in its much softer state. The Totodile Substitute is knocked into the air by the force of the attack, but Larvitar knows that her attack wasn’t nearly as powerful as it might have been had the ground not been so saturated with water. The alligator lands with a thud on the ground and stands up, ready for more action.

Arena Notes:
Large puddles have begun to form, and its really pouring now. The downpour should last for three more rounds.

The round is inaugurated by Totodile as he begins to move swiftly in a strange fashion. His arms flail wildly at his sides and he releases a loud battle cry. As the Totodile jumps up and down, he continues to grunt, looking for all the world like a football player pumping himself up for a big game. The alligator’s body takes on a red glow, signifying the power coursing through his veins. Meanwhile, across the field, Larvitar is beginning to make her move.

The green dragon yawns widely, covering her mouth with one stubby paw. Her eyes close for a moment, then open again, though she appears to be squinting. Lethargically, Larvitar looks down at the ground, searching for a comfortable spot to lay down in. Unfortunately for the rock Pokemon, the field is completely drenched, and there are puddles of mud everywhere. Quickly, Larvitar darts off the field and beneath the bleachers as the rain beats a metallic clatter on the seats. There is rain here, too, but at least, Larvitar hopes, she will be protected from the worst of it. Finally, the green dragon avails herself of a nice, long rest. She slumps to the ground, head in hands, and begins snoring lightly.

Unfortunately for Larvitar, her opponent caught her movements out of the corner of his eye. Totodile sprints toward the point where the small dragon had disappeared, scans beneath the seats for signs of his adversary. Within moments, he spots the sleeping Pokemon, and smirks mercilessly. The alligator opens his mouth widely, inhaling deeply, seeming to chuckle as he does so. The torrential rains pitch and whirl as they are sucked into Totodile’s mouth, gathering at the back of his throat. Finally, Totodile closes his mouth and, a moment later, releases his attack. The powerful jet of water flies through the opening beneath the monstrous stands, bombarding Larvitar. Yet, somehow, the green dragon remains sleeping.

Totodile decides to take advantage of this gratuitous situation by attacking again. Once more, the alligator opens his mouth and vacuums up as much moisture from the air as possible. The water rushes into his mouth for a moment, until Totodile feels it is time to release the blast. Another formidable stream of water drenches Larvitar, turning the ground beneath the dragon to mush almost instantly. Larvitar’s eyes pop open as she realizes she has become covered in a thick layer of mud. The Pokemon shakes violently to get the worst of it off, then yells loudly at her snickering opponent. Finally, Larvitar simply decides to ignore Totodile for the present and turns around to stretch. Despite being awoken harshly, Larvitar looks visibly refreshed.

- Because of the rain, water attacks will deal 2% extra damage and require 1% less energy.
- Direct recovery moves heal 20% of health. Since Larvitar was sleeping from Rest for two actions, I judged that it should receive twice the amount of health, and I judged that energy should be about the same. Maybe it’s just me, but 100% health and energy recovery seems like A LOT, especially in the ASB where attacks deal so much less damage.

This time, I'm being less lenient because I noticed it earlier. DQ period is three days, and two have gone by since BH posted his move. Basically, MoP, you've got about 24 hours to post or you'll be disqualified.

Which I'd rather not do, but it's unfair to BH if I keep him waiting forever. So post plz. :)

This actually kinda makes me sad, but anyway... MoP is disqualified for not posting in the time limit! His Larvitar was on the field for four rounds; therefore, BH and I will both receive full pay for one Pokemon out for at least three rounds:
