[Eraizaa-kun]

The volcano seemed quite active today as its shadow covered the outposts. Although it was still clearly day, that shadow made the Rangers turn every light in the outpost. Ranger Eli was standing in the counter, waiting for yet another Trainer to show up. He didn't like the volcano much, but he had to admit that where ever there's Pokemon Life, there's bound to be something worth exploring. Still, he remembered to act all calm since he didn't want to drive away any trainers.

Soon, one did came in through the door. In a moment, Ranger Eli stretch his white shirt which was wrinkly due to so much laying on it, and made sure his jacket was on firmly. The trainer made it to the counter and Eli happily accepted her papers as he greeted, "Welcome to the National Park!"

He took the papers and quickly typed the information on a nearby computer. He then turned back to the trainer and said, "So, your name is Sam? I'm Ranger Eli and I'll be your escort for today! Follow me and I'll take you to Mt. Deckbi in no time."

Ranger Eli guided Sam outside where the vehicles were parked. They both got inside an SUV with the Park insignia on it and drove off. The land around seemed lifeless at first glance, but paying close attention you could see rock Pokemon and probably a few fire types hiding around. By the time we got to the volcano, Eli noticed that a Vulpix had someone hitched a ride on the vehicle, but the Pokemon just ran away as soon as it was spotted.

"Well, there we are. Mt. Deckbi. The volcano seems rather active today...I hope nothing bad happens, but we are Probably going to find plenty of Pokemon today," said Ranger Eli as he stared at the Vulpix that was still running in the distance.

"I hope so," Sam said as she watched the Vulpix run away. She wanted to catch as many Pokémon as possible. She looked up at the smoking volcano looming in front of her, and wondered if it would erupt soon. That would be unfortunate, but… interesting. She was eager to start up the mountain. Though she hadn't been hiking for a while, it was one of her favorite pastimes. Add Pokémon catching and she'd be in heaven. Especially fire Pokémon like those on the mountain.

"We gonna stand here all day and watch Vulpix run around?" Sam asked Ranger Eli with an egger smile on her face. "I came here to catch them! Let's go!" She looked again at her surroundings, noticing the many Pokémon. She grabbed a pokéball out of one of her many pockets and released Charmander from it. The lizard Pokémon let out a happy, flaming sigh. With that the trio started of towards the smoking volcano.

OOC: Ranger is just the title and Eli is the actual name, like how doctors always start their names with Doctor *add name here* and such. :wink:


Eli was already happy to have come. Seeing an eager trainer always raised his spirit. He quickly followed the trainer toward the volcano and they both started their walk up the trail that spiraled all the way to the top. Although they weren't near the top, one could already feel a little heat. When looking up, one could notice a few Pokemon looking down at the humans. Some kept staring, some hid as soon as they made eye contact with the humans, but either way they were too high to battle them.

Soon, Ranger Eli noticed a cave next to the trail. There were rather strange and somewhat ghostly echoes coming from the cave, but right there next to the cave entrance was a Sandshrew sitting on the floor. Even more curious, the Sandshrew was actually chewing on his right foot. The Sandshrew noticed the two visitors nearing it and it stared at them curiously while still having its foot on its mouth.

"Hey look! ...I've never seen a Sandshrew do that before...it's kind of funny..." said Eli as he noticed the small Pokemon.

OOC: I know it's a title. I was just amused that you used almost every time you talked about him.
IC:
Sam looked at the cave wondering what was making the noises. Her fist thought was a ghost Pokémon, but as far as she knew they weren't found around the volcano. She looked at the small mouse Pokémon sitting next to it. The Sandshrew was so cute. Especially while chewing on its foot.

"That's weird. I wonder why its doing that." Sam said to herself, then she raised her voice. "Well, I came here to catch Pokémon, and I may as well start with this one. Charmander we're gonna move closer, then I want you to use Smokescreen so you can surprise it, then attack with Fire Fang. While you're still latched on, release more fire and use Fire Spin."

"Char!" The flame tailed Pokémon was happy to be able to battle, as he hadn't done so in a while. But Sam felt a little guilty attack a Pokémon that was just sitting there minding its own business, and the ridiculously cute, curious look on its face didn't help.

OOC: Ohh...heh. ^^;


IC: Eli smiled at the situation. He had to admit it was a cute Sandshrew, and now he was probably going to witness a battle between it and a Charmander. He watched as the Charmander walked towards the Sandshrew. Sandshrew was just staring at it curiously. Suddenly, the fire Pokemon stopped, opened his mouth, and let out a dark cloud of smoke that covered both the Sandshrew and the entrance of the cave.

Charmander then jumped into the Smokescreen to try to land a Fire Fang attack, when suddenly a sound came out of the Smokescreen, "Cha..."

For a moment, Charmander's call being cut off worried Ranger Eli a bit, but when the smoke cleared it revealed a hole where Sandshrew was, and Charmander with its face on the rocky wall. Seconds later, at a couple of feet from the hole, another hole appeared, out of which came out Sandshrew. The Sandshrew sat on the floor and once more resumed chewing on its foot.

Charmander thought he could at least perform his fire spin. He jumped over the hole to near Sandshrew, but the ground beneath him suddenly gave in and he fell in the one food deep tunnel Sandshrew had dug. Sandshrew stood up and looked at Charmander from a distance to make sure he was okay. He seemed a bit worried. Apparently the cave in was an accident. Charmander just stood up since the hole wasn't that deep.

Sam was surprised at the Sandshrew's reaction. It hadn't attacked Charmander at all and when Charmander got hurt, it seemed worried. And now, it continued to chew on its foot. Charmander seemed a little mad at the mouse Pokémon. He stood up from the hole barely hurt but more than a little annoyed. He didn't seem to realize the cave in had been an accident.

"Charmander, I know your angry but hold on. Just use a Growl and a Scratch." Sam ordered.

"Char!" The flame Pokémon was upset to only be asked to use such weak attacks.

"I know, I know. Just do it Charmander, please. And if you can, try to get a look at its foot." Sam wanted to see what Sandshrew's reaction would be. And she wanted to find out why it kept chewing on its foot.

OOC: Gasp! I just realized Sandshrew don't learn dig on their own...Well, what's done is done. Sorry about that. I just won't do it again. ._.

OOC2: BTW, it helps you if you describe your Pokemon attempting to perform the attack(s), as long as you don't say that it hit or missed, describing your Pokemon's moves will really help you. It doesn't have to be a fancy greatly detailed description as long as it's understandable. : P


IC: Charmander seemed very annoyed, but he tried his best to follow Sam's commands. When he looked at Sandshrew and attempted a Growl, it sounded more like an attempt at Roar. Sandshrew's eyes got teary as it was spooked by the Growl, so it rolled up into a ball and remain in that spot.

As Charmander ran towards Sandshrew to try his Scratch attack, Sandshrew jumped and began rolling in the same spot making bits of earth fly towards Charmander. Some of it got in Charmander's eyes, so Charmander instinctively closed them and began scratching at the air randomly as he ran. He managed to land one of those scratches as he got to Sandshrew and finally stopped attacking and awaited further instructions, but he still had its eyes closed.

Sandshrew just rolled a bit further and stayed there rolled into a ball.

OOC: DOUBLE GASP! That’s okay, lol. Okay, I'll do that. And just out of curiosity, was that gyro ball?

"You weren't supposed to terrify it…" Sam sighed. Charmander was even angrier now that he had dirt in his eyes. He rubbed and scratched them trying to clean them, but it didn't help. He angrily turned to look- sort of- at Sandshrew, who was still rolled in a ball.

"Char!" Charmander let out an angry shout. Sam new what he meant by it- 'This means war.'

"Alright Charmander, do a Metal Slash!" Though Metal Slash was not an actual attack, Charmander knew what to do. He focused energy to his right hand, and his claws started to glow white, as if he were to use Metal Claw. But Metal Claw was so weak and Charmander had never liked using it. Slash on the other hand was a strong attack. Charmander charged at Sandshrew blindly with his glowing hand behind him, then brought up above his head and slashed towards the ground hoping that although he couldn't see well, his aim had been true.

OOC: That was Defense Curl, it says so on the stats at the bottom of the Post. Do pay attention to that. One time (like a few minutes ago), a trainer asked his Pokemon to use Double Team when on the stats said that the Pokemon was taunted. You can be sure it didn't work. ...OH! And yes, you are doing much better. = )


IC: Although Charmander wasn't sure if that was Sandshrew or not, he attacked, and sure enough, it really was Sandshrew. The attack hit the rolled up Pokemon sending it flying against the wall, but the Pokemon simply rolled, bounced against the wall and then rolled right onto Charmander. Charmander was pushed back and landed sitting on the floor. It really hurt.

Sandshrew kept on rolling forward, made a U turn, then rolled over a rock which sent it flying towards Charmander yet again.

OOC: I didn't even notice that, :) I loled at the U turn thing ^_^

Sam watched as the flying ball of Sandshrew moved closer and closer to Charmander. For a second she just watched, but then she realized she had to react.

"Charmander, quick, get up." Charmander stood up as quickly as he could. "Alright, now try to stop its momentum with Dragon Rage, but if it doesn't work, try using Slash when it gets close!" Charmander called upon the little dragon power he had and charged it up. At the same time he moved his hand into position just in case it didn't work. He let out a ball of energy in Sandshrew's direction and readied himself to Slash.

OOC: You seem to have a bit of creativity down along with realism, but you also seem to be lacking practicality and it's very important.


IC: Sandshrew kept going towards Charmander as the fire Pokemon let out a ball of blue flame. When Sandshrew and the Dragon Rage made contact, Sandshrew's constant spin scattered the flames, so Sandshrew kept going.

Charmander had also prepared to defend with a Slash attack, but Sandshrew was coming too fast. Charmander tried to strike with his claws anyway, but he couldn't see well and slashed forward too early. Luckily, the slash did hit Sandshrew a little bit and pushed it back, but Sandshrew just landed on the floor and rolled over Charmander.

Charmander was now face down on the floor and it was mad, really hurt, but mad. Sandshrew attempted another turn, but instead of heading towards Charmander, Sandshrew just stopped attacking, sat on the floor and once more began to chew on its foot while staring at Charmander, however, there was something different. You could tell Sandshrew got hurt by Charmander's attacks after all.

Charmander got up and scratched his eyes and finally got the dirt out of his eyes. He was now awaiting the next command.

OOC: You mean, like use the environment more, right? And, just curious, what time zone do you live in?

IC: Sam could see Charmander was badly hurt, but he was angry and proud and she knew he wouldn't give up. She considered sending out Shelia, but decided against it. She quickly thought of the best way to continue the battle and decided to take a defensive position.

"Charmander," she called to him, "move to the trench Sandshrew dug. Crouch down in there so its harder to hit you. Once you're there, use Flamethrower, but wait for Sandshrew to move first."

Charmander was a little annoyed to be hiding, but was badly hurt and realized it was probably for the best. He moved to the trench and crouched down to around half his full height then peaked his head up and looked at Sandshrew while collecting flame in the back of his throat.

OOC: I meant more like, how useful your choice of moves were at the given moment, but, awesome come back! ^^


IC: Sandshrew noticed Charmander hide in the hole, but it didn't pay much attention to him, when suddenly, flames were flying in Sandshrew's direction. Sandshrew was completely surprised and instinctively took the foot out of its mouth, pushed against the ground with that foot to jump, then rolled into a ball, rolled out of the way and towards Charmander.

"So, that foot was just fine after all," commented Eli.

Still, Charmander followed Sandshrew with the flamethrower and immediately enveloped it in flames at a closer distance. Sandshrew stood up and began jumping as it shrieked in pain. It tried running away in Sam's direction as it licked the burns in its arms. Sandshrew tripped and rolled, then stopped right behind Sam. Sandshrew hung on to the back of Sam's leg to hide from Charmander. Poor thing was hurt and really scared.

OOC: Oh, Okay, thanks B) Yeah I'm EST, I can never remember if that’s -5 or -4… I don't go on AIM much, but I'm like constantly on PE2K, cuz I have no life lol. oooh…. now I feel so mean…. I have problems when I feel mean for beating up a Sandshrew that 1. isn't real, and 2. isn't even on a video game or anything where I can see it or something. ugh :-(

IC: When Sandshrew jumped on its foot, Sam wondered even more why it had been chewing on it. As Charmander's flame made contact with the mouse Pokémon she realized that the battle would probably be over soon. But when it rolled behind her and grabbed her leg, she felt horrible. She could feel it shaking in fear and pain.

"Oh," Sam bent down and gently grabbed the scared Sandshrew. It shrunk back, but then let her pick it up. She sat down on the ground and cradled in her arms. "Shhhh, shhh," she tried to calm down Sandshrew. She motioned for Charmander to come over to her. Ranger Eli looked on curiously.

"I'm sorry, its alright, you'll be okay." Sandshrew let out a scared meep when he saw Charmander coming close, then flinched in pain from its burns. "Its okay, he won't hurt you. Its okay," Sam grabbed a water bottle out of her pocket and a handkerchief. She wet the handkerchief and gently patted Sandshrew's burns, hoping to soothe the pain. "I'm sorry I don't have anything better to help." She wished she could afford a potion or a burn heal. After Sandshrew stopped shaking and calmed down, Sam decided the best thing she could do was to put it in a ball. She pulled a Parkball out of one of her pockets and gently tapped him on the head. "Sorry…" The ball opened up and sucked in the scared mouse Pokémon. Sam laid it down in front of her and waited for it to stop shaking.

OOC: Wow… that took a while. That’s cuz the season premier of House is on. YAY!!!

OOC: Oh, by the way, you are not allowed to say how a wild Pokemon reacts nor how my character reacts...although you did it quite well since that's exactly how they would have reacted...either way, don't do it again. : P


IC: Sandshrew allowed itself to be lifted by Sam as it felt it was safer there. Sandshrew curled up in her arms as it kept trembling, but it felt soothed by Sam's handkerchief and her words.

Sam eventually took one of her Parkballs and tapped Sandshrew with it, hoping Sandshrew would be better off inside of it. Sandshrew was quickly pulled inside the Parkball which closed and began giving red flashes in its center. The ball flashed once...twice...thrice, and even a forth time then suddenly stopped. Sandshrew had been caught.

Ranger Eli walked up to Sam and said, "I'm not sure if congratulations are in order, but you did a very good job."

At that moment, the ghostly sounds coming from the cave sounded yet again.

OOC: Okay, sorry,:oops:heh. No i haven't. are you going to tell me? (say yes or i might feel the need to burn you with flamethrower. :evil:)

IC: "Thanks," Sam said sullenly as she pocketed the parkball. She looked up at the cave when she heard the noises again. She looked at Charmander, who looked tired. She knelt down next to him.

"Hey, you wanna take a break?" Charmander looked up and shrugged. "I know you won't say yes. Come on." Sam took his ball out of her pocket and pressed the button sucking him in. She stood up and took out Shelia's ball and sent out the Tropius. She looked towards the cave, then towards Shelia, then Ranger Eli.

"Shall we?" She asked, and without waiting for a response she started toward the cave, Shelia following close behind.

OOC: Well, alright. As you noticed, the foot was just fine. Also, Sandshrew had a Quirky nature. So, the chewing on the foot thing was just a cute bad habbit/quirk I thought would look good on Sandshrew. : P


Ranger Eli followed Sam closely as the headed into the cave. The cave was large enough for Shelia to go in, but there wasn't enough room for flight or movement since the cave was around 2 Tropius wide at most. As they entered the cave, the ghostly sound became louder and clearer, and as it became clearer it became more obvious that there was a metallic sound to it as well.

Not too long into the cave, they finally met with the source of the sound and the first Pokemon in the cave, a Bronzong. The Bronzong just stood there, waiting to see what these visitors were up to.

OOC: I kinda figured it was something like that. Ya know, a Bronzong was mean. ALL of my attacks on both Pokemon do half damage accept fire types which have a 50% chance of doing nothing at all! :p and im not overly fond of them so....

IC: Sam had worried that the cave would restrict Shelia' movement, but she wanted to give Charmander a rest. Shelia didn't seem to mind the tight space too much, but Sam new she would be restricted in battle. They continued through the cave anyway, moving closer to the sound.

Soon they came upon the source of the noise, a Bronzong. The bell pokemon looked at them curiously. Sam looked at the bell pokemon and it looked back. She decided a battle against it wouldn't worth the effort due to major type disadvantages, and the fact that she wasn't to fond of the pokemon. She quietly instructed Shelia.

"We're gonna try to get around it without a battle. We'll just walk around it, hugging the wall. If it tries to attack, use Whirlwind to keep it busy and then we'll keep going." Sam moved towards the was and away from the Bronzong, and Shelia followed suit, preparing to use Whirlwind if the need arrived.

OOC: Sorry, I didn't mean to be mean. I rolled that when I was rolling for your encounters and it had to appear eventually. ^^;


IC: As the group tried to walk right pass the Bronzong, Bronzong moved a side to give them more room to pass and even waved at them as they walked away.

"That seemed to be a very nice Bronzong after all," said Ranger Eli as they kept walking into the cave.

As they kept walking, they noticed that the temperature in the cave was raising fast. Just as Eli was about to instruct Sam to turn back, they finally found a Pokemon.

A Magby had come running from within the cave and stopped right in front of the group. The Magby didn't seem to be running away from anything, but it did waited to see what these people were up to.

OOC: I know, ;p. I do however like Magby, more specifically Magmar. Although- along with almost all the other gen 4 Pokemon- I do not like Magmortar. Oh, and I don't plan on it, but if I wanted to, would I be able to use Sandshrew in battle in the RP?

IC: Sam was a little surprised the Bronzong was so easygoing, but glad that it was. As they continued, Sam noticed the temperature was rising. Sam didn't mind the heat, but soon it was to much- no one could have been comfortable in it, except for certain Pokemon. Shelia was not liking the heat at all.

Sam was beginning to think they should turn back, and should tell Eli was too. But then a Magby came running towards them. It looked at the foreigners curiously. Sam gazed at it for a moment, but then snapped out of her daze when Shelia let out a small noise.

"Okay, Shelia. You probably won't like it too much, but about this? Use Magical Leaf to occupy Magby, then while its distracted use Body Slam. After that you can move backand use Air Slash. Alright?"

Sam was right. Shelia wouldn't enjoy it. She didn't like doing combos, or even battling for that matter. She grudgingly shot out the leaves which flew straight at Magby. Then she charged at him, preparing to attack.

OOC: meh... god my internet's slow...

IC: Magby quickly noticed Shelia was about to attack with something. I got upset really fast that these random Pokemon would come in here just to fight.

As Shelia shot her Magical Leaf attack, Magby opened its mouth and began to spit a stream of small fires. At this point, Shelia had charged forward a bit, only to get covered in her own magical leaves which were covered in fire.

While Shelia was shaking off the leaves, Magby kept running forward, leaving the group behind.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that. I guess this just isn't the best place for a Tropius to fight," said Ranger Eli, "We really should get out of here. It's just too hot for us and for your Tropius."

OOC: Okay, that's what I thought but I wasn't sure.

IC: As Shelia shook off the leaves, Sam worried she might be hurt, but Shelia didn't really react. She just turned around and prepared to chase the fleeing Magby.

"Just leave him." Shelia looked at her, surprised. "It's alright. Come on, we'll just get out of here." Shelia just nodded silently. Sam started back the way they had come.

The group turned back to get out of the cave. They walked for a bit and eventually made it back to where the Bronzong from before was sitting. The Bronzong was still sitting the same spot, except this time there was yet another Bronzong right next to it.

The first Bronzong waved yet again as the group seemed familiar. The other stared curiously at the first. There really was no room to walk out.

"Well, if it isn't our friend Bronzong...and he has a Bronzong friend too..." said Ranger Eli.

He looked at Sam and waited to see what she would do.

OOC: I've never heard that before. And I like soup. I just don't like Bronzongs ^^;

IC: Sam really didn't know how to react. She figured that if she let the Bronzong know she wanted to go past it would let her, but she wasn't sure how the other one would react, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to just pass. She liked the Bronzong standing in front of her, even if she didn't like the species in general. She kind of wanted to catch it. But she didn't want to fight it. She had already randomly attacked two wild Pokemon, and this one was so nice.

Sam looked at Shelia. "Use Sweet Scent," Tropius let out a scent that smelled like sweet flowers. Sam slowly walked towards the Bronzong that was there before. She wanted to see how it would react, and hoped the sweet scent would help her do... whatever it was she was doing.

The two Pokemon seemed delighted as the sweet perfume covered them. The Bronzong that hadn't waved before decided to do so this time. It seemed grateful. They both stared curiously at Sam for a moment, wondering what she was up to, but all in all, Shelia had just made their day, so they were happy.

Ranger Eli gave a single step forward as he thought of helping Sam finding a way out, but he decided to wait. Maybe Sam had a good idea.

OOC: T-Tar said I could.

IC: As Sam debated how to continue, she noticed to the temperature rising again. At first it was only slight and she ignored it, but then it got worse. Shelia nudged her shoulder with her head. Sam turned and saw lava flowing through the cave.

"Um..." She looked at Eli then at the Bronzongs, which where in the way. "Hey! You guys gotta move. Come on!" She moved closer to the happily dazed Pokemon. Shelia was not liking the heat at all and let out a small worried noise. "Alright, Shelia, get their attention with Gust. Try not to hurt them though."

Shelia flapped the leaves on her back and created a small gust of wind that moved towards the Bronzongs

OOC: umm...Did it ever occur to you that you could have just asked the Bronzong to move? ^^;


IC: The Bronzong quickly noticed the lava coming. They panicked and levitated out and away from the cave. Ranger Eli grabbed Sam's hand as he ran and pulled her out of the cave. Shelia ran just behind them. As they all got out of the cave, Ranger Eli guided them up hill and back into the trial. The lava went down hill as it came out of the cave.

"Is everyone Okay?" asked Ranger Eli as he looked over the group.

When he glanced back at the lava, he noticed something funny. There was a Magmar swimming in the lava. It began splashing around the lava a bit. A few seconds later, the Magmar walked out of the lava and stared at the lava as it quickly stopped flowing.

OOC: hehe ^^" sorta, but not really.... um...

soooo... IC: Sam watched the swimming in the lava. She wondered what it would be like. She thought it would be cool just to be able to do it, but she wasn't about to try. The lava quickly cool down and stopped flowing. The outside started to turn black. Magmar stared at it, as did Sam. Then Sam looked at the Magmar. It would be a nice addition to her team. She looked at Shelia, who instantly recognized to look on her face. She let out a small noise as if to ask, "What now?"

Sam smiled at her. "Use another Sweet Scent," Sam hoped it would have a similar effect on Magmar as it did on the Bronzongs, "then use Leaf Storm."

Shelia sent out the flower-like scent as before. Then she called upon her powers to use Leaf Storm, hoping just as much as Sam that the Sweet Scent would keep Magmar from noticing.

Eli was a bit worried since he knew Shelia was at a disadvantage, but it wouldn't be the first time he sees a Pokemon with a type disadvantage help capture its opponent.

The Sweet Scent spread and covered Magmar. Magmar instantly noticed the scent and turned around to see where it was coming from and noticed Shelia. Magmar seemed to be enjoying the smell too much to pay attention to the Leaf Storm attack headed its way.

The attack hit directly and pushed down the Magmar, but it quickly stood back up and ran towards Shelia. The Magmar seemed very upset, while on the other hand, Shelia looked a bit drained. Magmar stopped almost in front of her, opened its mouth, and fired a Flamethrower right at the flying grass Pokemon.

Neither Sam nor Shelia reacted fast enough to try to stop the Flamethrower. Shelia flinched as the flames washed over her. Sam watched with displeasure, but she wasn't too worried. Tropius knew Synthesis, and unlike Charmander, she could be healed.

"You okay, Shelia?" She didn't really react, just readied herself for the command she knew was coming. "Use Air Slash then Body Slam."

Tropius reared up on her hind legs and flapped her wings sending a burst of wind at Magmar. Then she brought her front feet back down, aiming them at the flame Pokemon.

Magmar watched Shelia stand on her hind legs and waited to see what she was up to when suddenly, Shelia flapped her wings letting out sharp wind. The wind made its way toward Magmar and pushed it back slightly, but it didn't seemed to do much damage.

Magmar wondered what was wrong with this Tropius and decided to counter attack. Its eyes gave a sudden purple glow for a split second.

Shelia suddenly began to shake her head and flap her wings very fast. In doing so, she created a whirlwind that lifted herself a bit in the air right before tripping and falling face down on the floor.

"I don't think your Tropius is feeling too well, Sam," said Ranger Eli in worry.

The Magmar didn't seem to be enjoying the fight, so it began to walk away.

All Sam thought as Shelia fell to the ground was Face palm. Or rather face ground. "Shelia, are you okay?" Shelia stood up, but she didn't look to good. "Use Synthesis."

Magmar began to walk away. "Oh, come on!" Sam was determined to catch him. She had already 5 out of 15 encounters if she had counted right, and only a Sandshrew to show for it. "You're just gonna leave? I'm gonna catch you if I have to battle you myself!" She ran as quickly as she could and got in front of Magmar. "You're not getting away!" Sam was a little afraid of what Magmar would do. "Shelia! Use Razor Leaf, then use Solar Beam!"

Shelia shot out many small sharp leafs then started to take in energy from the sun.

OOC: You know, now that I think about it, maybe Tropius and Charmander weren't the best choices to come to Mt. Deckbi with.


As Sam ran towards Magmar, she left Shelia with the command of Synthesis. Shelia just looked at her then hit her head on the floor. At that moment, Shelia suddenly snapped out of it and noticed her trainer facing a Magmar.

Magmar looked forward at Shelia then back at Sam. It seemed to be feeling awkward. It didn't want anyone to get hurt anymore.

Magmar then opened its mouth and let out a Smoke Screen. The Smoke Screen quickly filled the area and everyone caught in it began to cough.

Ranger Eli threw a Pokeball and said, "Galateah, use Gust!"

As the Pokeball opened, a Butterfree appeared. The Butterfree spun around in the air a few times and flapped her wings blowing away the smoke. The the smoke cleared, Magmar was gone.

IC: "Oh Come On!!!!" Sam exclaimed for the fourth time in less than five minutes. "Of course, he's half Abra! I mean, why shouldn't be able to top Houdini?" She shouted to no one in particular. "Seriously, where the heck did he go?" She sighed and walked over to Shelia. Suddenly she sounded calm and happy. "You okay? Try another Synthesis. Hopefully it'll work this time."

Sam glanced Ranger Eli, then towards the cave they had run from, as Shelia attempted another Synthesis. She almost thought she saw a Magmar peeking out at her from the cave, but she blinked and it was gone.

OOC: magmar... (I'm calling you a butthead :cool: lol) seriously though, who designed magmar, and what was their intention?:eh:

OOC: There's kind of like a limitation on moves outside of battle, so, I'll leave you with this much for Synthesis.


IC: Shelia shook her head and attempted to absorb sunlight to heal herself, but she was still a bit shaky, so she only managed to absorb a little bit.

Ranger Eli sighed a bit. "Come one Sam. There's still plenty to see. Maybe you'll be able to capture another Pokemon up ahead," said Ranger Eli as he stared back at Sam.

After the Synthesis, Shelia still didn't look to good, but she was better. Eli said they should continue, and Sam agreed. They started to head up the trail rocky. Sam was a little upset from losing the Magmar, which was only made worse when she stubbed her toe on a rock that turned out to be a Geodude that floated away. Shelia nudged her on the shoulder, trying to cheer her up, and it worked. Sam patted the Tropius on the head and looked upwards towards the top of the volcano thinking of all the Pokemon that would be up there.

OOC: Sorry for the shortness, there wasn't much I could do except walk. :wink:

OOC: Yup, walking is something.


IC: As they kept walking up hill, they made it to a less rocky area. The group now had to cross this short ash covered plain to keep going up hill on the other side.

They kept walking into, when suddenly, something popped up from the ground right in front of Sam's foot and made her trip and fall. She fell into what felt like a small pool and it was filled with ashes which scattered a bit as she feel the gather again covering her a bit.

"Sam! Are you okay?" said Ranger Eli as he rushed to help her up and out of there.

When Sam was finally up, she looked back at the bump that made her trip. At that moment, they laugh heard laughter as the bump came out of the ground completely. It was a Dugtrio. By the look of its joy, it seemed to have planned this all along.

IC: When Sam stood up and saw that a Dugtrio had tripped her, she was instantly mad. But as she watched the Dugtrio laugh she couldn't help but do the same. She was covered in ash, which she tried to wipe it off, but that didn't really help.

"Funny or not, I'm gonna have to catch you now." Sam looked at Shelia. "First things first, before he starts attacking, use Synthesis. Then use Lear then Gust."

Shelia again absorbed sunlight to heal herself. Then she glared at Dugtrio while flapping her wings to create a burst of wind that moved towards Dugtrio.

Dugtrio quickly got underground as Shelia tried Synthesis once more. Once Shelia was healed, she looked around for Dugtrio, but she couldn't find it. Just in case, she readied herself for the Gust attack Sam had commanded.

Suddenly, the ground beneath Shelia became softer. She found that strange, but didn't pay much attention to it until the soft ground began to spin and she began to sink into it. She had fallen into a sand trap. As the whirling sand expanded, Dugtrio was revealed to be in the very middle of it. Shelia's feet were stuck on the ground and she just couldn't reach the Dugtrio.

"This Pokemon seems very cunning. You are going to have to out-smart it Sam," said Ranger Eli.

IC: Sam was hoping this battle would be easy, but she knew Ranger Eli was right. She thought of a plan. All she could think of required Shelia to escape from the sand, but that would be hard. "Shelia, you have to get free. Then use Razor Leaf to chase Dugtrio underground. After that get near it and use Stomp on the ground."

Tropius struggled to get free of the sand while she prepared to use Razor Leaf.

Shelia kept struggling to get out of the sand trap, but she just kept sinking. Dugtrio seemed to be preparing an attack, so Shelia decided to do that Razor Leaf attack Sam commanded. Shelia flapped her wings and shot a group of sharp leaves that all headed towards Dugtrio. At that moment, Dugtrio shot a tri-colored beam that broke through the Razor Leaf attack and hit Shelia. A couple of the leaves kept going and hit Dugtrio, but no with their original power.

Ranger Eli kept watching the battle as Galateah decided to rest on his shoulders. They were both hoping Sam could turn the battle around soon.

OOC: :hungry: hmm... butterfree.... I mean yeah i forgot. I wasn't planning on sneaking up from behind and eating her! :shifty:

IC: "Shelia stop struggling for now, it's just making you sink faster." Shelia stopped moving and glared at Dugtrio, not revealing her anxiety. Sam's worry was not hidden though. Her eyes shot around the field trying to find something useful, but it was just a field of ash covered grass. Then it hit her. The ash! "Shelia! Use Gust to kick up the ash so Dugtrio can't see." As she was giving the orders she remembered that Dugtrio could have Sand Veil. But this was the best thing she could think of, she just hoped this one didn't. "After that use Leaf Storm, but use Air Slash to speed it up so it does more damage."

Shelia flapped her wings and kicked up a whirlwind of ash, blinding her as much as she hoped it was blinding Dugtrio. She shot out the glowing leafs for Leaf Storm then flapped her wings to send them zooming in Dugtrio's direction. Hopefully.

OOC: It hit me as I was typing it hit her lol :happy:

Dugtrio had prepared itself to launch yet another Tri-attack. It aimed at Shelia, but at that moment, she began using gust to lift up all the ashes. Dugtrio couldn't see anything, which delayed its attack, but it was sure Shelia couldn't have moved from that spot since it was trapped by the Sand Tomb. It decided to fire the Tri-attack, but at that moment, leaves began to appear behind the cloud of ashes. Their forced was great. Dugtrio was surprised and just fired the Tri-attack straight forward.

The Tri-attack got between the leaves, weakening the attack and making its way to Shelia. Shelia didn't see the attack coming through the ashes either and both Pokemon got hit directly by the other one's attack simultaneously.

Shelia wasn't hurt that much, but Dugtrio began to shout in pain. The could of ashes vanished and Dugtrio was looking very weak and hurt. However, throughout all this, the Sand Tomb was still going and it still had a grip on Shelia.

IC: Sam watched tentatively as the ashes cleared. When she saw Durgtrio, she knew her plan had worked. The Mole Pokemon would soon be hers. She took out one of the parkballs from her pocket and threw it at Dugtrio, then waited for the ball to stop moving, confident that it would.

Dugtrio was really tired, so it helplessly watched as the Parkball flew its way. As the ball made contact, Dugtrio became a red beam that was pulled into the ball.

The Parkball began to shake and give red flashes. Everyone stared as the ball kept shaking and the tension built. Suddenly, the Parkball stopped.

Ranger Eli waited a few seconds then said, "You did it! That's your second Pokemon!"

Galateah flew around in circles to celebrate.

The sand trap had stopped, so Shelia flapped her wings a bit and pulled herself out of it.

Sam looked on as the ball shook, when it finally stop she laughed and punched the air with joy. Shelia flew to Sam, happy to be out of the sand. She nudged her shoulder than looked in the direction they had been traveling.

"I supposed we should keep going," Sam said to Ranger Eli. She started walking happy to get out of the ash, which was still covering her.

The group finally made it out of the ashes and back into the trail. They kept on walking leaving the plain behind. Still, the sound of many Diglett celebrating could be heard from where the group stood.

The volcano's peak could now be seen. Ranger Eli looked up and noticed all of the smoke coming out of it. At that moment, Shelia made a sound as she noticed something. Near the edge of the trail was a Houndour. It was resting on the ground while staring at the smoke as well.

Sam still didn't want to attack the random wild Pokemon. She just felt so bad about it. But she really wanted to catch the Houndour she had just come upon. it hadn't noticed them yet. It was watching the smoke rising to the sky. She watched the smoke as well while trying to think of a way to catch the dog Pokemon.

"Hey, Shelia," Sam said quietly, "use Sweet Scent." Shelia started to use the move again. Sam moved in front of Shelia and pulled gently on the fruit on her neck. Shelia didn't mind, she often ate the fruit, but she was curious as to what she was doing with it now. She continued with the Sweet Scent regardless, and soon a sweet smell filled the air. Sam took the fruit and moved toward Houndour slowly while peeling it. She kneeled down close enough to reach the dog, but as far away as possible. She hoped the Sweet Scent would calm him and held out the fruit. She hoped that Houndours liked fruit.

OOC: thats weird... I don't think dogs really like fruit though... :eh:

As Shelia let our her Sweet Scent, Houndour turned to look at her. It seemed to be enjoying the Sweet Scent. Sam then neared the dark Pokemon, it stood up and sniffed her offering. Houndour was very pleased, accepted the fruit and ate it.

The Pokemon was curious as to who this person was. Right after finishing the fruit, Houndour howled loudly and waged its tail a bit. After howling, it looked at Shelia once more.

Houndour barked slightly while signaling Sam with its head that she should move out of the way.

"Hmm...It seems this Houndour knows you came to battle, Sam. You better come this way," said Ranger Eli.

Sam was relieved that her plan had gone so well. She moved behind Shelia quickly and gave her orders to the Tropius. "This battle will more than likely be rough, so start by absorbing sunlight. But instead of just using Synthesis, absorb extra energy and use Synthesis and then Solarbeam."

Shelia looked at Houndour than looked up at the sun. She focus of the warm rays radiating from the bright sun, and began to absorb them. She used the rays to heal herself, but also charged up the Solarbeam, preparing to fire it at the small dog in front of her.

Shelia looked back at Sam with a little worry in her eyes. When she looked up at the sun, her expression simply said, "Here goes nothing." Houndour knew the battle had officially begun, so it ran towards Shelia without much hurry.

Shelia seemed to be struggling. It was hard for her to split the energy she was absorbing into both healing and power. Houndour jumped at Shelia with fire covering its mouth. At that moment, the darkly Pokemon bit Shelia on her front left leg.

Shelia screamed in pain. She looked down at Houndour and fired a weak Solarbeam. The Solarbeam hit Houndour so it was pushed back. Houndour jumped back a bit to get some room between it and Shelia.

The Tropius looked down at her leg which was hurting. There was a burn it. Shelia looked back at Sam and waited to see what she would do.

Sam searched frantically for some way to turn the tide of the battle. She noticed some rocks perched on a ledge above the battle. "Shelia, use Stomp on that wall to knock those rocks down. If that doesn't work, use Gust on them to get them down. Make sure you don't get hit. After the rocks fall try another Synthesis."

Shelia moved over to the rock wall. She stood up on her hind legs and smashed the wall with her front. She readied her wings to use Gust if it didn't work, or to fly out of the way if it did. Neither Shelia nor Sam was exactly sure how the rocks would help the battle, but Sam was sure she could use them in some way.

Shelia quickly rushed to the wall and began to stomp on it. Eli thought it was a good idea to do this at first, but then the ground began to shake and the rocks fell. Lava suddenly began to pour out of the spots where the rocks were. Shelia quickly flew away from the lava which began to flow down the mountain.

Sam, Eli, and Shelia were safe. Houndour was splashing in the lava as it wasn't that deep. At that moment, Shelia remembered her other command and began to absorb sunlight.

The Lava stopped flowing and Houndour focused on the battle again, but Shelia had already healed.

Sam didn't wait to se what Houndour would do after it was done in the lava. She immediately gave more orders to Shelia.

"Fly up above Houndour then use Growth. After that use Body Slam from the air." Tropius flew up above the small dog pokemon. She made her body grow larger, causing a little pain. She looked down at Houndour and stopped flapping her wings, falling at the fiery hound.

Shelia did exactly as Sam commanded, flying right over Houndour and letting herself drop after the Growth. Houndour didn't realize it was an attack and just looked up at Shelia and shot a thick cloud of poisonous gas. Shelia fell right through the cloud and suddenly Houndour shrieked.

As the Smog cleared, Houndour was found to be right under Shelia, struggling to get out. Shelia seemed a bit hurt by the fall and was coughing a bit. Houndour got upset and gave Shelia a big bite right her burnt leg. Shelia screamed and quickly got off of Houndour.

Houndour quickly ran and aimed at Shelia with its maw. It seemed to be about to launch an attack when suddenly Houndour began to shake and fell to the floor. Once in the floor, it was still shaking. It seemed in pain.

Sam thought about how to continue. She had an idea, but it would involve Charmander, and she didn't really want to send him out. She could think of nothing better though. She called in Shelia and released Charmander, while promising that he'd only be out for a little while. The fire on his tail was looking a bit small.

"Use Smokescreen to distract Houndour. Then use Sunny Day. After that use a Metal Slash." Charmander let out a proud cry, not revealing the pain he was in. He spit out a ball of dark smoke at the dog in front of him, then focused his fiery powers on the sky and shot up a white beam, intensifying the sun. Then he made his hand metal and charged at the smoke.

OOC: Aren't I mean throwing out my dead pokemon? :neutral: just cause i wanted a sunny day...

As Charmander released all that smoke in Houndour's direction, Houndour became disoriented for a moment and wasn't sure where to find its new target. It just sat down in the floor, waiting for the smoke to clear.

At that moment, Charmander looked up. A bright beam shot from his body and headed towards the sky. All the clouds suddenly cleared and the sunlight became strong. Houndour noticed the big flash of light and now knew where to find Charmander. It stood up and took a big breath. As Houndour exhaled its breath with strength, it let out a massive flamethrower in Charmander's direction.

Unaware, of this, Charmander was running towards the Smokescreen to attempt a Metal Claw attack. He ran with enthusiasm hoping for victory only to find himself enveloped in very strong flames. Normally, Charmander would have taken that, but the sudden heat on the weather made it too much, especially with Charmander's health. Charmander tried going forward, but getting even deeper into flames only made it worse. Charmander fell backwards and fainted.

Ranger Eli was rather speechless. As the Smokescreen cleared, Houndour was found resting in the floor again. This wild Pokemon didn't to be too worried about the battle, not even when it had taken a beating, and yet it still came on top. Now Sam only had one Pokemon left.

IC: Sam thought Charmander would have been able to make it through at least that much, but apparently not. She felt horrible as she sucked the lizard Pokemon back into his Pokeball, and sent out Shelia.

"Shelia, now that the sun is brighter, try another Synthesis.(OOC: thats only, what, the 23rd time so far?) Then use another Growth. After that use the your speed from the sun to run around and confuse Houndour and use Solarbeam."

Shelia absorbed sunlight, finding it to be easier now that the sun was brighter. After the Synthesis, her body grew bigger, causing a small amount of pain. Then she absorbed sunlight once again as she ran around Houndour and shot a beam of energy at the dog.

Shelia nodded and began to absorb Sunlight to heal herself. At that moment, Houndour began to aim at Shelia and launched a Flamethrower. Shelia was caught off guard as she was attempting to use Growth, but she managed to jump to a side and avoiding a direct hit. She was still caught by part of the Flamethrower. Being in a hard situation, Shelia skipped Growth and went ahead to fire a Solarbeam at Houndour. Houndour also tried to dodge, but its body was hurting, so it took part of the Solarbeam as well.

Houndour knew it was almost over as it howled in pain. It aimed once again at Shelia to fire yet another Flamethower.

"Stay focused Sam! It's going to attack again!" said Ranger Eli.

"Shelia, try to use an Air Slash to cut through the flames. Then just use a Magical Leaf, since it's hurt a lot already, nothing fancy."

Shelia flapped her wings, sending a blast of air towards the flames. She hoped it would work, but braced herself for the sting of the fire anyway, as she prepared to shoot the glowing leafs of her next attack.

Houndour launched the strongest Flamethrower it could right at Shelia, but at that moment, Shelia flapped her wings and fired a sharp wind attack. The Air Slash began cutting the Flamethrower right down the middle, protecting Shelia from it. Houndour was still trying to make the Flamethrower work and didn't notice the attack coming its way when it got suddenly hit by it. Houndour was in shock and flinched for a moment.

Shelia took that opportunity to send several sharp leaves towards Houndour. Shelia looked down as if wasn't feeling so well. She didn't look so good either. Houndour actually sat down in the floor then rolled over, dodging the leaves. It thought it was safe, but suddenly, the leaves turned around and hit Houndour in the back. It Howled in a lot of pain and fell to the floor. It was shaking in pain.

"Sam! Now's your chance!" shouted Ranger Eli

OOC: Houndour's health still says 30.95% in your post, but I'm guessing its pretty low.
Sam extremely happy the Air Slash had worked. She watched Houndour shake on the floor. She felt bad for it, but was still happy to be able to catch it. She took out a parkball and through it at the dog pokemon in front of her, hoping it would work. Shelia was as well, she hadn't enjoyed fighting the fire pokemon.

IC: Sam tossed her Parkball at the Darkly Pokemon and hit her target. Houndour was quickly pulled into the ball. The ball fell to the floor and began to shake, however, after just one shake, it stopped.

The air was filled by an ominous silence, until Ranger Eli noticed that nothing was happening and realized why.

"...that's it...You got it Sam! You captured that Houndour!," he said as he jumped up a bit.

"Cool!" Sam exclaimed excitedly. "If only it hadn't taken so much out of us..."Shelia was standing nearby, panting. "Use Synthesis again, Shelia. You're doing really good, you know." She turned to Ranger Eli as Shelia started to absorb the sun's rays. "I guess we should keep moving, right? Let's go." She looked up at the top of the volcano, which was still smoking, then grabbed the newly filled Parkball on the ground and started walking up the trail.

The group kept moving, although the ground was trembling and Shelia herself didn't look good. The climb was getting bumpy as the road wasn't completely flat. Plenty of boulders and smaller rocks forced them to pay closer attention to where they were stepping of risk tripping and falling.

Soon, they noticed a Group of Pokemon sitting over the boulders. The Pokemon were looking at something and cheering. When the group got to the spot, they saw a Flareon that was making rings of fire and using its agility to jump between them. However, at that moment, all the Pokemon there noticed the group of humans there and ran away. All but Flareon who was too caught up in the performance to noticed. When the Flareon saw that its audience had left, it glared at the humans.

Sam was impressed with the Flareon, who continued to do tricks after the other pokemon left. When it finally noticed that Sam was standing there, Sam started to clap lightly. It did not seem as pleased as her. Sam watched the beautiful flame pokemon. She then turned slowly to Shelia.

"Flareon seems to like tricks, lets see if it'll like ours. Mix a Gust, Sweet Scent, and Magical Leaf, and don't hit it. If it attacks, try to use an Air Slash." Shelia knew what Sam meant by the list of moves. She had preformed them once or twice before, to show off. Sam wanted her to let out Sweet Scent and Magical Leaf together, then use Gust to push them where she wanted them. In this case, Shelia new that she wanted them to move towards Flareon, then swirl around her, hopefully impressing her. She had done this once to a young Skitty and the cat pokemon was overjoyed, but then again, it had felt the same way about a butterfly that flew past.

Shelia released the spores and leaves, then created a gentle gust that carried the mixture to Flareon, then made it swirl slowly around it. She hoped the pokemon would not attack, but prepared to release the Razor Leaf anyway.

Flareon felt insulted and was now furious. Not only had the group scared away its crowd, but now they dared to perform in front of her. Flareon released a Fire Spin and that spun along with Shelia's moves, burning down all the Magical Leaves. Right after that, the Flareon concealed itself within another Fire Spin. One could see Flareon's fur practically glow from between the flames. The flames split from the fiery vortex and headed towards Shelia.

IC:"That didn't work..." Sam said as Flareon burned the leafs around it. As it charged, she called to Shelia, "Use Air Slash. Hopefully that will slow it down so that when you use Whirlwind it won't just run right through. After it's caught in the Whirlwind, use Leaf Storm into the winds." Shelia reacted quickly, for her own sake. She was staring to get tired of battling. Especially a bunch of fire types. She flapped her wings once and shot out a blast of air, then followed quickly with another flap creating swirling winds, then shot out a bunch of glowing leafs in the same direction.

IC: Shelia's Air Slash quickly broke through Flareon's attack and made it vanish. At that moment, Flareon attempted a Quick Attack, but it got caught in Shelia's Whirlwind. As it struggled to get free, Shelia launched a Leaf Storm which hurt Flareon badly.

IC:As Shelia attacked Flareon, Sam noticed her wincing from the poison that Sam had almost forgot about. Her hand moved to her pocket which held four Pokeballs. One held Charmander, who she managed to faint, and the other three held knew pokemon she had just caught. Shelia was tired, and Flareon still had enough energy to last a while. Sam may have been stubborn, but she didn't like seeing her pokemon- or any pokemon, for that matter- in any sort of pain.

"Shelia," she called, "use another Whirlwind. We're leaving." She looked at Flareon. "Sorry to bug you, that really was quite a show before." Then she turned to Ranger Eli. "We're gonna go, okay?" Shelia let out a sigh- or as close to a sigh as a Tropius could get- of relief as she flapped her wings to use the Whirlwind. Sam pressed the button on Shelia's Pokeball sucking her into it with a red beam, giving her a well earned rest. While Whirlwind kept Flareon occupied Sam turned and started back down the trail, not that she had really gone that far up.
