Ranger Amonea (http://media.photobucket.com/image/anime/angy21_2006/FANTACY ANIME/anime.jpg?o=44)
The Woods
Crrrrol!
The noise came from a small Bug Pokemon, his eyes wide in pain and fright. He was laying on an old table, getting potions and bandages placed on a deep gash. One of our junior trainers had found him, bringing him in for some quick healing.
"Stop it now! How would Mama Wheedle like it if she saw you acting this way?!" I demanded as I placed a last bandage on his side. The young Wheedle lowered his eyes in shame as his cries quieted. Giving the bug a hug, I carried him outside the small Ranger Outpost, blinking at the bright, warm sunlight. Ignoring the talk of the new trainers, I set him in a small "play pen" of sorts we had made for the young Pokemon who were healing. I smiled faintly as the green bug chirped his thanks.
The smile vanished the moment I entered the outpost. Senior Ranger Jakana was standing beside a teenage boy. Messy brown hair, soft brown eyes and rough jeans fit the description of a typical teen.
"Amonea, this is Iridium. He is to go to the Woods today. Since you're about to go there yourself to release Wheedle, why don't you take him with you?" To be honest it wasn't a real question, just an order hidden as one. Forcing a smile, I took the forms Jakana handed me. I wasn't going to argue--it wasn't that I was scared to, it's just that arguing with tough, strong, old Jakana was a lose-lose situation.
"Come, Mr. Iridium." I grabbed a set of keys for one of the many golf carts the Park had. Taking Iridium through outside, I picked up Wheedle and took him with me, gently placing him in between the boy and myself. Once that was all done, we took off.
"The Park was opened a couple years ago..." I began, doing the age old recital of Park history. Like a tourist guide, I thought scornfully. Wheedle sighed, curling up and napping for the next fifteen minutes of the ride.
Finally, we reached the Wood's outpost. It was an old, tumbled down shack tucked on the outskirts of a deep forest. Dropping off the cart so as not to scare any of the Pokemon with the noise, I put down our information so the Rangers at this outpost knew when we came in. This was important on the off chance we got lost and they needed to form a search party.
Turning on my heel, I brushed a lock of red-violet hair away from my face and looked at Iridum and Wheedle. I had given the boy the caterpillar to hold onto. He was still napping, his giant black eyes closed tightly.
"Alright. No need for sunscreen, not like we're at the Great Lakes." I stopped to glance at my deeply tanned skin with a sigh. The Lakes would be perfect right now. Instead of the scent of the water and sun, I had the scent of grass, pine sap and fresh air. "I hope you brought everything you need as I only have a few items you can buy. Now, let us go. Be careful and do listen to me or you're be on a one-way train out of the Park for good!"
Knowing I made a strong impression on him, I lead Iridium to an opening in the woods, setting off on a path. The mast had to be at least an inch thick, I thought. No good if a fire started, it would linger in the trash of the forest for a while and then climb to the bigger trees, leaping off the crowns of the little ones. I shuddered and decided to think of other things.

"I hope you brought everything you need as I only have a few items you can buy. Now, let us go. Be careful and do listen to me or you're be on a one-way train out of the Park for good!"
"Um, let me just have another look and check if I've got everything or not," I said as Amonea started walking further up the narrow path.
I placed the Weedle she had handed me on the ground, and pulled off the black rucksack strapped on my shoulders, and started rummaging in it.
"Yeah, I've got everything I need," I replied, after a minute's search. I gently picked up the bandaged bug, its eyes shut tightly.
"Good, let's go deeper into the Woods."
We walked further into the Woods, and it became darker and darker as we walked further because of the thick canopy of trees overhead.
"Do you think I should call one of my Pokemon out to walk beside us, you know, just in case, something takes us surprise?" I asked.
OOC: Thanks, Dragoness ^^. I've never RP'ed before, so it's a brand new experience for me. Just hope I'm doing this right D: Oh, and I'm allowed to quote some of your lines, right? Btw, I have $22,500 now.

OOC: You're doing alright =) Just remember to be creative, practical and realistic. Don't do anything too radical/not practical, but do remember we'll not playing R/S/E/D/P/whatever game, you can dodge/move around a bit, use the environment and describe how attacks start (as long as you don't say whether the attack hit or not). And yes, you may quote my lines.
IC:
"That would be a good idea," I replied, glancing over at the young man. Weedle was still sleeping, such a calm little bugger. "Just be careful to pull out a well behaved Pokemon, I don't want to go chasing after a monster." With that said, we continued on, walking deeper into the forest.
It wasn't dim, per se, as shafts of light came down into the cool forest, lighting up the path. Yet it was...darker than the bright sunniness outside the forest. It was also quieter, much quieter. Occasional hooting, barks and rustles in the grass could be heard and once I swore I saw a flash of scarlet skin flying overhead, but overall it was nice and peaceful. The smell of grass, cleanliness and fresh air was overwhelming.
"Beautiful," I said quietly. "Iridium, this place is one of the few large habitats in the world that has not been tainted. Astounding, isn't it?"
Looking over at him, I froze. A small, cute creature was peering out of a spot of grass about five feet from us. It moved forward, eyes alert. I could hear its claws gently pushing down on the dry leaves and stick that was the forest floor. Eyes almost the same shade of vivid green as mine looked up at us. A long yellow beak was attached to a face that had a navy blue and white mask of feathers. Its chest sported a dark red burst of color. The Taillow's entire body was covered in the blue and white feathers. It chortled, eyeing the two of us.

"Beautiful," I said quietly. "Iridium, this place is one of the few large habitats in the world that has not been tainted. Astounding, isn't it?"
I turned around to answer Amonea, when I saw her staring over my shoulder, her sparkling green eyes narrowing.
I instantly turned around, and my eyes fell on a little navy blue bird, with streaks of white feathers. It was hopping slowly on the ground covered with broken leaves and twigs, eyeing us with suspicion.
"That is a Taillow," Amonea said from behind me.
"Yeah," I replied, keeping an eye on Taillow. "I'm not too keen on catching one, so let's move on a bit further."
I put a step forward, and a twig crunched under my feet. With a startled cry, the Taillow spread its wings and flew up into the air. We watched it fly away till we couldn't do so anymore.
"Come on, let's move on," Amonea said.
We both kept walking for around five minutes, the twigs cracking beneath our feet, when I suddenly came to a stop.
"What's the matter?" Amonea asked.
"I...I think someone's following us," I said, as I looked all around, searching for some sign of movement, feeling quite uncomfortable.
"I think it'll be a good idea to call out my Infernape," I said, tossing a red-and-white Pokeball in the air, which opened in the middle, to release a flaming monkey. It was almost the same height as me, just an inch or two shorter.
Amonea looked it at with interest for a while, then with a stiff nod, started moving further.
I turned towards my left, as I heard a small rustling there, but hearing nothing more, I shook my head and followed Amonea.
OOC: Sent you a VM, but fortunately, I found time to write this up, but I don't know if I'll be able to post again in the next week or so (I might be able to, it's just that I'm not sure). Just so you know.

OOC: Okay! It is not acceptable to make my character, Amonea, do things or say things. QUOTING is alright, but having Amonea do things she has not done is not. What you did is unneeded "bunnying".
Also, saying the Pokemon ran away is not acceptable either. You do not control the actions of a wild Pokemon.
Because of this, I am ignoring your post as almost all of it contained bunnying of both me and the wild Pokemon. Please make a new post, starting off from where my last post was--with Taillow just being spotted. Thank you.
p.s. Yes, I could have sent a PM, but I wanted a public record of what I said. I also would prefer for you not to delete or edit your post, just make a new one.

Taillow let out a cry, its eyes lightening a few shades to a pale green. "Squak! Tal!" it chirped, jumping forward.
I decided to take over. "Taillow, go on, please." I smiled coolly, waving a hand at it. It looked over me, eyes sharpening. Then, with a chirp, it jumped forward, nearly hitting Iridium full in the face and the tip of its wing catching me on the head.
"Well," I said with a grin. "He didn't like that, did he?" Not waiting for an answer, I beckoned Iridium to follow me. Slowly I kept on the path, feeling the cool air swish around me. I felt heartbeat slow as the calmness in the forest took over me. It was too silent, too beautiful, I thought.
CRACK!
I jerked around, grabbing Iridium and holding him back. With a nasty crashing sound, a large branch hit the ground before us. Looking up at the thick trees, I growled softly. "Be careful." About to step over the branch, I jumped backwards. Something came running down the tree, screaming in anger.
It ran across the log and stopped midway on it, glaring at us. "Wurmp!" It yelled. Massive black eyes, a dark red scaled body and lots of small horns covering its head and sides told me it was a common Wurmple.
"They can be surprisingly tough," I muttered to Iridium. "Don't let your guard down. Also, we'll put down Weedle as soon as we get to his nest. I think I know where it is."

I looked at the cute little bug for a few seconds, then shook my head and decided against capturing it.
"Let's continue moving on, Amonea, I don't think I want to use up my balls on my Wurmple, just in case I meet some rare Pokemon later on," I said.
"Let's leave Weedle at its nest now and then continue looking for more Pokemon, shall we?"
OOC: Sorry for it being too short ^^; Edit: Just realised that Taillow isn't listed as a Pokemon in the Woods. Correct me if I'm wrong, I may have just missed it ...

OOC: It's okay...If you wanna have fun RPing and make your posts a little longer, that's alright too :) Like describing how your character would have felt as a large branch suddenly fell down or asking/waving your hands at a Pokemon to make it run away--just be careful so you don't say it actually did run away or provoke it to attack you.
Also, Taillow was listed as being in the Woods until very recently--as in like today or last night. Jess made a post about it in the General Discussion thread. Since I have already made the rolls for you, I don't have to re-roll and the new changes do not effect this RP.
IC:
"Sure," I replied. Glancing over at the small, tough Wurmple, who was glaring at us for daring to intrude on its private domain, I smiled slightly. "Wurmp, sweetie. We gotta go by ya." Daring to take a step forward, I was stopped by a spray of white gooey liquid. It fell a few inches in front of my foot. "Wurmple, please let us by!" I told it, keeping my voice calm. It just glared at me.
"Wee!" exclaimed a voice behind me. Weedle had stood, its eyes focused on the small Bug Pokemon. It then burst into a rapid conversation, squalling noises at the Wurmple.
The wild Pokemon nodded after a while, made a farewell screech and ambled off into the distance. I, meanwhile, had started studying the tree. Was it me, or was there something up there? Something that had caused the branch to fall? Or was I just being paranoid? Finding it too difficult to climb the slimy bark, I shrugged and began following the narrow path again.
We walked on for another ten minutes, sometimes talking quietly about the Park, little bits of chit-chat about the Pokemon and all that. Leaves crunched under our feet, shifts of bright sunlight came through the trees and a soft breeze playing with my long red hair. I didn't know how Iridium felt, but glancing at the boy, I decided he was probably enjoying the nice day. And if he wasn't? Oh well, he payed to get into the park and this is what he got. As if in response, I noticed the light become a little less bright as dark gray clouds started appearing. A minute later, I could hear a distant boom of thunder.
"Eh," I muttered, stopping beside a large oak tree. A large hole was in the tree, as if someone had carved the spot out. Soft grass, nuts and berries were tucked inside it, as was a pair of large green eyes looking back at me.
"Hey," I told the eyes. They blinked, then the Pokemon came forward, revealing herself as a large, mother Weedle. "Time for your baby to come back." Reaching over to the teenager, I took the young Weedle from his arms and gently placed him inside the hole. Mother Weedle went crazy, licking the baby and screeching her thanks.
"No problem'o," I muttered. Glancing at Iridum, I asked, "Where do you wanna go now?"

IC:
We continued walking in the forest, but I was feeling only one thing - dissapointment. I had been greatly dissapointed with the Pokemon I had encountered till now, still all I could do was continue walking and hope for some rare Pokemon, yes, hope.
We reached a big oak tree, which had a big hole in its trunk. Amonea took the baby Weedle from me and gently placed it in the hole. Its mother, a bigger Weedle was overjoyed to see it. It brought a smile to my lips, despite my feeling of disaapointment.
"Where do you wanna go now?"
I cast my mind back to the map of the Woods at the entrance, and the big blue patch in the centre of it.
"There's a pond in the centre of the Woods, isn't there?" I asked. "Let's head there now."
Dragoness
10-06-2009, 02:22 AM
"Alright, though its really more a small lake, not just a tiny pond, not that the maps say that," I said cheerfully, a grin spreading across my olive skinned face. It was about then I noticed that while I was enjoying myself out in the woods, Iridium was not. The boy seemed a little glum.
"You alright?" I asked as I led him onto another path that twisted around several massive oaks. Suspecting what was bothering him, I continued speaking, ducking to avoid a low hanging branch. "We're probably find some more 'popular' Pokemon soon. Though honestly, there is nothing wrong with a cute Wurmple, or a tough Caterpie. I once won a tournament with a Wurmple and a Magikarp! Don't ask how, but I did."
I decided not to inform Iridium that while I had won using those two Pokemon, the reason I won is because almost everyone fell over laughing at Magikarp, giving Wurmple a chance to use his sharp horns to attack the Pokemon after cocooning them. One of the Pokemon actually fell off the stage laughing and hit his head, this knocking himself out.
"Ah!" I yelled suddenly. While I had been thinking, something bright and shockingly purple had jumped in front of me. Shifting about nervously, it looked us over, the massive violet ears--reminiscent of Mickey Mouse--twitching back and forth. It wobbled a little, opening its mouth to let out a tiny, little cry, eyes large with confusion.
"Don't startle it, or else," I said through gritted teeth. Reaching into a pocket, I slowly retrieved two pair of ear plugs, handing one to Iridium. "We're maybe five minutes from the entrance to the center of the Woods. The lake is there, though I don't care if you wanna battle this lovely beast. Just be careful." Glancing around, I noted that I had dragged us into a small clearing, tall trees and shrubs edging the area around us.

Amonea yelled suddenly, and really startled me. I followed her eyes and saw a small mouse, a shade somewhere between pink and purple. It suddenly opened its mouth wide, and I was taken aback as Whismurs didn't have the sweetest of voices.
Amonea, however, reached into her pocket and handed me a pair of ear plugs. She seemed prepared for every kind of obstacle.
"We're maybe five minutes from the entrance to the center of the Woods. The lake is there, though I don't care if you wanna battle this lovely beast. Just be careful."

"Right," I muttered, making sure the plugs were snugly fit into my elf like ears. Carefully, I began to move around Whusmur with Iridium in tow. "Just move...slowly. Very sl--"
REEEAH! WAAAAH!
The noise that came from that Pokemon could have woke the dead. In fact, I made a mental note to check any graveyards we came by and make sure their inhabitants were sleeping peacefully. Pokemon were suddenly flying, jumping and moving around us as they came tearing out of the forest, running across the clearing and screeching.
"Well!" I growled, pushing past some low hanging vines and onto a small path. "Well!" I exclaimed again, to nobody in particular. I wouldn't bother trying to calm the Whismur down as its kind liked to throw tantrums and no matter what I did, it would still be upset.
I continued along the path, feeling the cool air flow around me, enjoying the new silence. It was about then I realized I should take my earplugs out. Grinning as the purple foam plugs came out, a thin coating of yellow earwax on them, I felt my gaze shift to the left and right and finally ahead.
On our sides a series of trees stood, their branches and vines cutting off most of the sun, except for an occasional warm patch of light. In front of us was an open clearing, sun streaming down to cover it. There, in the middle of said clearing was a small, glassy lake. The edges were green with algae and many Pokemon were near the "pond" as it was incorrectly called. Upon seeing us, many of the 'mons moved away, going as fast as their feet, hooves and slimy bodies would carry them.
"What do you wanna do now?" My voice was relaxed as I caught the smell of fresh earth and grass.

We reached a clearing in the forest, and as I stepped forward, I shut my eyes immediately. After the dimness of the woods, the streaming sun almost blinded me. However, I got used to the bright light within less than a minute.
In the centre of the clearing was a huge crystalline pond, more like a lake. Apart from one or two ripples, which were made by the Pokemon living around the pond rushing away on seeing Amonea and me walking in, the pond as well as the entire clearing was extremely calm and quiet.
"What do you wanna do now?"
"Let's go around the lake in a circle, and look for Pokemon, shall we?"
Dragoness

"Okay," Amonea agreed. Glancing around at the now empty clearing--all the Pokemon had ran once the two humans appeared--she walked forward, eyes alert. A slight wind started, sweeping through the forest and rustling the leaves slightly. To Amonea it carried the scent of pine sap, flowers and fresh air.
They walked for a while, just looking about the place. Amonea chit-chatted a little, talking about the Park and about the Pokemon in the Woods. Finally, after ten minutes of walking and enjoying the site, Amonea stopped.
"They may all be gone," she said quietly. With a sigh, she walked over to the small pong, bent down and reached a cupped hand in for a cool drink...
SPlASH! She only got one sip in before jumping backward, being sprayed by a stream of water. Something had jumped out from the water, hiding just below its surface.
It was a bug. A tall, lean creature with a hard scarlet-black shell and two sharp pincers. Very bright black eyes were sticking out on the side of its head and it opened its mouth to let out a slight "Kirick!" sound. A mix between a lady bug and a beetle, the most startling thing about it was a long black moustache.
"What's you wanna do?" Amonea hissed, shaking off water.

OOC: No real reason other than I felt like it. Also, two sentences...not counting your OOC or the copy+paste of one of my sentences :( Even though it's not a battle post, you should still try and put in a bit more description of the area around you, the Pokemon, what your character is thinking, even what you're gonna do next :)

The Kricketune twitched its large moustache, eyes alert as it glared down at Iridium and me. Shifting its weight forward, it placed a clawed foot outside the pool, growling deep in its throat.
"Back up!" I ordered Iridium, stepping back myself. The Pokemon suddenly grinned, an impish gleam appearing in one of its bright eyes. Just as sudden, it jumped at us, spreading its thin black wings out. Letting out a yell, I hit the ground, avoiding the weird bug as it flew over us and down a wide path, cackling madly.
Struggling up, I yelled after it, "Well that was nice of you!" Grumpily, I looked around the small pool. Now I was damp, it was getting cool out and a Pokemon had decided to play a prank on me. If it weren't for the fact that I was freezing, I would have found it funny.
Muttering darkly, I looked around. No other Pokemon were nearby, though honestly they could have just been hiding, waiting to see what we'd do next.
"Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?" I asked, digging through my pack for a coat.

As Kricketune went away, I noticed the change in Amonea's mood. She was no longer really cheerful, but looked a bit angry, apparently owing to the fact that she had just had water splashed all over her, and had got tricked by a bug.
"Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?"
"Er, I'm not sure," I replied, now getting quite desperate to encounter a rare Pokemon. "Shall we just go on looking here, or move away from the pond?"

"Finally," muttered Amonea. Pulling out a light, soft brown coat from the pack, she put it on, tightening it around her. Then she looked up at Iridium.
"Well, it doesn't really matter. I doubt we will find any more Pokemon here, their a bit shy you see and we've been making noise. Let's go down that path." Amonea pointed to a narrow, curving trail. It was near noon, the sun was sitting high in the sky casting down large rays of sun. But even those warm streams of light did not quite cast away the chill of the day and they would be going down a pathway that had large trees stationed on either side of it, only allowing bits of sun to come through.
Beckoning Iridium to follow her, Amonea started down the beaten path. She was in a slightly better mood now, taking in large breaths of the fresh air, feeling soft grass and moss beneath her feet. As they walked down the trail, she would occasionally reach out and touch the bark of a tree, feeling the various smooth or rough surfaces.
"Woah!" she suddenly said, stopping in her tracks. A Pokemon had walked out of the bushes beside the path and stopped right in the middle, looking intently at them. It was like a duck with brown feathers, a vivid yellow beak and very sharp eyebrows. The most weird thing about this waddling creature was that it was holding a leek stalk, or wild onion with the tips of its wings, the feathers curling around the plant.

We walked down the narrow, curving path, looking for signs of Pokemon. The sun was now overhead, but the forest remained quite dim and chilly.
"Woah!"
Amonea stopped abruptly with the exclamation, and so did I.
Right in front of us was a duck-like creature with nice brown feathers and a sharp pointed beak. It had a sort of blank expression on its face, it was neither angry nor amused at seeing us, or so I thought. It had a green twig clasped tightly in its wings.
"Not exactly what I was looking for, but Farfetch'd are Rare, aren't they?" I asked, in a very faint whisper. "People consider them a delicacy in some parts of the world, don't they?"
I carefully pulled out a red-and-white orb from my pocket and tossed it into the air. The Pokeball opened with a dazzling flash of light and a moment later, a flaming monkey stood in front of my eyes.
"Come on, Infernape, we're here to do some battles," I said, and Infernape replied with a mere nod.
"Alright, let's begin with a Brick Break attack, then move away from Farfetch'd a bit and follow it up with a Flame Wheel, but make sure you don't knock Farfetch'd out, okay?"
Infernape again nodded in indication that it understood.
It crossed its arms and made an "X", and stood rooted to the spot, as if it was meditating. It then unfolded his arms and rushed forward towards the bird, and I knew it would bring back its arms forming the "X" once more when it reached Farfetch'd, completing the Brick Break attack. For the Flame Wheel attack, Infernape would surround itself with a huge flames, and rush at Farfetch'd, tackling it down onto the ground.
I just hoped that Infernape would be succeed in doing this, and Farfetch'd didn't have any surprises, or worse, shocks in store for Infernape and me.

OOC: You're fine. Doing a couple attacks in one post is one way you can pull off combos. Also, don't forget to pick the gender of the 'mon :) Don't forget to take into account natures and surroundings and all that.
IC:
"I've heard about that!" I replied my voice uncharastically enthusiastic. "Bit odd, isn't it? I mean really, who would eat a Pokemon? But I guess if you're poor enough and hungry enough. But then again, I mean really, Pokemon are so smart, it'd be like eating a, a human? Right?" I shut up then, allowing Iridium to focus on the battle.
The flaming ape growled, raising his thick woolly arms above his head and crossing them in a large X. Then he charged forward at the small bird, eyes ablaze. Farfetch'd, who seemed to be quietly enjoying the scene, suddenly realized that perhaps it should get out of the way. Too late. At the moment it started to flap out its wings and get out of the way, the ape reached it and slammed its now glowing orange hands down onto the bird's tail end.
Farfetch'd screeched. Even though the attack had not been all that, it still hurt! With a yell, it seized its muscles up and then hissed through its beak, relaxing its muscles. Then, with incredible speed, the bird jumped up at Infernape and opened its large, razor sharp beak and pecked viciously at the monkey, leaving drops of blood on the guy's furry skin.
It had to abandon its attack though, as Infernape had started his Fire Wheel attack, every hair on his body taking a flame like appearance. I grinned a little. The very air around him was burning hot, making small heat waves appear around him. Personally I enjoyed the warmth. However, as the ape tried to throw itself at Farfetch'd, who had landed on the dirt floor of the forest, the bird jumped up, flapping its wings furiously as it grew in height, just missing the fire attack.

I gasped as dark red beads appeared on Infernape's skin, wherever Farfetch'd had attacked him.
"You're alright, Infernape?" I asked, anxiously.
Infernape nodded, and simply shook away the blood droplets.
Infernape isn't the kind to get disheartned easily, I thought, with a smile.
"Alright, Infernape, time for a Flamethrower, but be careful and don't knock it out," I said.
Infernape then stood rooted firmly to the spot, increasing its body temperature slowly till it reached somewhere around a whooping 1000 degree Celsius. A few moments later strong heat waves started emanating from the point where Infernape stood, and Amonea and I were forced to step back a few paces quickly.
Infernape then opened its mouth wide, breathing out a huge jet of scorching flames, directing them towards Farfetch'd.

Amonea watched as Iridium walked away from the blazing heat of Infernape, but she was not bothered by it. A slight smell of singed fur drifted through the air, the sick aroma floating up the young ranger's sharp nose.
The fiery ape did not seem to notice however and instead focused on the bird, who was walking around it in a wide circle. Opening his mouth open wide, a blast of fire came out, twisting around itself in a stream of orange-red. Little tendrils of flames flicked out of the spiral of fire.
The Flamethrower shot out at Farfetch'd, but she moved, pushing up on her legs and flapping her wings so hard it caused a pleasant breeze to caress Amonea's face. The bird was not quite fast enough though, her tail end got scorched, causing the feathers to catch on fire. With an unhappy screech, she fell to the ground again, slammed her butt into the dirt and began rubbing very hard, trying to get the fire out.
After a moment, the flames did die out, the tips of her feathers blackened. Screaming her anger, she jumped at the ape and dug her talons into Infernape's face. Her claws scratched at his face, the heat from the ape having died down. As the guy tried to fight off Farfetch'd, she was doing some real damage. Finally, she pulled away, panting heavily. Long bloody scratches now covered the ape's face, including one that crossed from his forehead to under his left eye.

I gasped again, as Farfetch'd dug her razor-sharp claws straight into Infernape's face. Long bloody scratches had appeared on Infernape's face, including a very ugly one, running from his forhead to his left eye.
I quickly removed the black rucksack strapped on my shoulders, and after a few minutes rummaging inside it, as Amonea, Infernape and even Farfetch'd watched me, I pulled out a tiny blue bottle, and was about to unscrew it and spray the Max Potion, when Infernape stopped me with a violent shake of his head.
"You want to carry on for now?" I asked, in a low voice, not entirely happy with what Infernape proposed to do.
Infernape nodded in reply, and closed his eyes for a minute, focussing his thoughts and clearing his mind.
"Alright then, let's carry on," I said. "Let's try something different now, use Rock Tomb, but make sure you don't knock her out."
Infernape stood still for a moment, then clenched both his fists and started beating them and his tail heavily on the forest floor.
A few seconds later, six large boulders erupted out of the ground around Farfetch'd, slowly drawing closer and closer towards the bird. I knew that they would finally encircle her closely from all four sides, forming a cage-like structure around her.

IC:
A smile slid over Amonea's face. Iridium cared about his Pokemon, as evident by the frosty blue bottle he held in his hand--a potion, from the Park's own Poke'Mart. Her fiery friend did not want it though. He shook his large head, indicating that the young man should hold onto the potion.
Tough little guy, the ranger thought and she increased the intensity of her gaze on the interesting ape. A gasp suddenly came from Amonea as the mast covered floor shook a little and then, without a second of warning, six large stones shoves their way out of the ground. The woman took a step backwards, glancing cautiously over at her trainer, making sure he was perfectly safe.
In the meantime, the rocks had finished jutting their dirt covered edges out of the ground and were slowly pushing themselves towards the bird. Farfetch'd took one look at this, squaked and jumped up, her talons digging into the bark on a slender birch tree and using it to jump to the ground. The rocks shuddered, coming to a close where the Farfetch'd had been just moments before.
The girl seemed to think everything was alright, but let out a squeal of pain. She had jumped too fast and landed on the edge of a boulder, banging her right wing on its rough, dirty surface.
Yipping like an angry hyena, the Pokemon jumped up, weakly flapping its wing as if trying to make the pain go away. When it did not, she hissed and centered in on the monkey. Ignoring the ruby red flames that flickered on his furry arms and head, she ran straight at him, her increased agility making up for her injured wing, which stuck out at an odd angle.
Screaming a harsh battle cry that seemed to make the forest leaves shake, she jumped at Infernape, her sharp claws flashing in the dim light. They struck, once, twice, thrice. Furiously, she dug her vicious claws in, causing small drops of blood to speckle her foe's pale fur.
Backing off from the Infernape after a few moments, avoiding any swings he could give her, she focused in on him once more, eyes ablaze. She was maybe fifteen from him now, her yellow talons digging into the soft ground. Her twig, or stick of celery or whatever vegetable, was now broken at the top, hanging to its body by a thread of green vegetation. Suddenly, she moved. She was half mad with fury, her toes were digging into the ground as she ran right at Infernape, probably for another Swipe attack.
Amonea glanced at Iridium, frowning. "The Pokemon are not normally so reckless, or aggressive." She hesitated, than continued, "Perhaps something is going on...just be careful." With that, the ranger took a couple steps backwards, away from the fight, her hand stuffed in her pocket where her Pokermon were. This is not normal, Amonea thought. Not right at all, this 'mon is just being stupid and aggressive. There had been rumors of strange sightings going on in the Park for a while now and it had been noted that a good deal of Bird Pokemon were suddenly becoming ill...

"The Pokemon are not normally so reckless, or aggressive. Perhaps something is going on...just be careful."
I myself was extremely surprised to see Farfetch'd behaving in such an aggressive manner.
No, this was certainly not what one could call normal, I thought. Farfetch'd looked like it was suffering from some weird trauma. The twig which she held in her hand was now broken, and the broken end dangled and remained intact by a mere fragment of the twig.
Infernape was now bleeding quite a lot, and I considered using the little blue bottle still clutched firmly in my hand, when something else came into my mind.
It was much more useful as it was natural and not something like this synthetic chemical.
"Alright Infernape, first use Slack Off and then follow it up with a Flamethrower to weaken Farfetch'd," I commanded.
Infernape took in these words, and then closed his eyes firmly, almost in a similar fashion as he had done when he was preparing for the Brick Break attack. The flames on his head and arms also started burning more brightly. However, this was not an offensive attack. I knew that in a few minutes, the cuts and scratches on Infernape's body would start healing themselves slowly, and the bleeding would ease too.
He would then proceed to execute his Flamethrower, increasing his body temperature and throwing out heat waves, and would then finally breathe out another jet of scorching flames like it had done earlier and direct them towards the bird.

OOC: Yes Rock Tomb missed. I hope my laptop gets fixed soon, I hate borrowing, lol. Sorry about the lateness.
IC:
I watched with interest as the ape's body burned a brighter red, the flames seeming to grow as he relaxed his body. His flesh slowly knitted itself back together, the blood drying, so soon all but the deepest cuts were healed.
In the meantime, Farfetch'd had taken advantage of her foe's distracted state. With a scream of fury, she started running across the ground. Her feet were well suited to running, with three long toes sticking out and one twisted spur. They dug into the ground and pushed the bird forward, her speed only damaged by her injured wing.
Just as the Infernape started to wake up from his Slack Off, opening his eyes to see the bird, Farfetch'd attacked. Her razor sharp beak, turned down slightly like a predator's beak, snapped forward and she started biting, digging into newly heald flesh and fur. Iridium's Pokemon yelped and started swinging his arms around, pushing Farfetch'd away from him.
The girl ran, turning around about twenty feet from the monkey. With a growl, his flames started growing, sending off waves of heat that made me flinch. Then he opened his mouth wide, releasing a burst of vivid orange fire. It turned into a stream of white hot flames, twisting and curling around itself as it shot at Farfetch'd. But she had seen the attack and tried to get out of the way, running to left of the column of flames.
She would have made it too. But at the last moment her hurt wing got caught under her wide feet, causing her to fall with a crash. The edge of the flames caught her, scorching her rear and turning the brown feathers a charred black.

"You're doing pretty well, Infernape, don't worry at all," I said, trying to keep Infernape's morale up, as a barrage of Pecks was thrown his way yet again.
"We've weakened it quite enough," I continued. "Let's try and do a little more damage, but you musn't knock it out, ok?"
Infernape nodded in confirmation that he understood.
"Alright, let's just try a simple Scratch attack this time."
Whatever Infernape was expecting, it was not this. I thought he was taken aback by my command, for there was half-a-second's delay, but being a disciplined and well trained creature, he did not disobey my command.
He held up his hands and started rushing towards Farfetch'd. Scratch was a pretty basic attack, and Infernape would merely try to scratch Farfetch'd face, wings and other body parts. He didn't have claws as such, but his sharp pointed nails were good enough for the job at hand.

The ape rushed forward, carefully raising his sharp nails to strike Farfetche'd. The bird screamed, stepping backwards from the oncoming attack, but it was fatigued. Infernape's claws slammed down, digging into the poor bird's scorched feathers. Farfetch'd threw her wings up, trying tp push back against the monkey, but to no avail. Amonea winced, closing her eyes, It was just to horrid, really. To hear that poor bird yell like that...
Opening her eyes, about to tell Iridium to stop the attack, the ranger saw something that made her sigh with relief. The bird was no longer being ganged up upon, but had attacked back. Eyes filled with anger, little drips of blood now on her face, she raised her talons up and slashed down with force. The blow was wild and not as effective as it should have been, but it hit in a sensitive place--right on Infernape's face. Her claws dug deep into the ape's flesh, from his eyebrow to his nose, leaving a trail of blood that dripped onto his white fur.

Infernape had by now greatly weakened the little bird, but despite that, she launched a strong retaliation, scratching Infernape all over his face, and the cuts and wounds reappeared on his face.
"Well done, Infernape, well done," I said, hoping Infernape wouldn't get disheartened by the constant flow of attacks "You've done a great job."
I knew that this was the right moment to use the ball, Farfetch'd now weakened to quite an extent. I pulled out a Super Ball from my pocket, and looked at it for a while. It was very similar to a normal Pokeball, except that the red part was blue instead, and it worked quite better than a normal one as well.
I closed my eyes for a second, hoping that everything would go well. I then took aim and threw the Super Ball towards Farfetch'd. As soon as the ball hit the bird, she became a red silhouette, and another second later, was sucked up into the open ball, which clasped shut immediately, fell to the ground, and started wiggling violently as the bird struggled to escape. Amonea, Infernape and I watched it breathlessly, waiting...
OOC: I went uptil the point the ball engulfs Farfetch'd and it struggles. I hope that's allowed as well, it's allowed in stories, so I thought it'll be ok ^^;

OOC: 1. Grats! 2. Sorry about the lateness, again! I explained in a PM 2 you and 3. It's generally acceptable to have the ball fly through the air and towards the Pokemon and then leave it there, so the Ranger can say the ball missed or something, but I don't mind you saying it was sucked into the ball =) That can still be worked with, lol.
IC:
The ball sailed through the air, revolving slowly before it struck the dumbfounded bird. Farfetch'd had seemed too tired, too distracted to notice the ball until it was about an inch from her sweaty, slightly burnt feathers. Farfetch'd glared at it, her indigo eyes narrowed in dislike, but also in grudging acceptance. A battle fought well meant she was to be captured.
The ball touched her, its cool plastic rubbing against the rough plumage. The creature turned a blazing red for a moment before her body seemed to flash with a white light. She was gone, magically sucked into the small device known as a Pokeball. The sphere spun around and around, digging into the forest's floor and coating itself with tiny leaves, dirt and twigs. Finally, it stopped, the eye on the middle of the ball glowed a faint scarlet and then it vanished.
"Congrats!" Amonea said, her face breaking out in a large smile. "What will you call her?"

As the ball finally came to a rest with a dull click, I heaved a sigh of huge relief. I hadn't realised uptil now that I was sweating profusely and was hardly breathing. I took in large breaths of the forest air, and finally a large grin appeared on my face. I was delighted at my first capture in the Park. I picked up the no longer empty ball, and placed it carefully inside my pocket.
"Congrats! What will you call her?"
"Hehe, I'll ponder over that later. She'll just be Farfetch'd for now," I answered Amonea, with a smile.
I then turned my attention towards Infernape, who had done a really great job fighting the little but brave bird. I patted the ape on the back, and had to remove my hand immediately as Infernape's flames were scorching hot.
"You deserve a rest, Infernape," I said, withdrawing Inferenape into his Pokeball.
"Let's move on, shall we?" I asked Amonea.

"Let's move on, shall we?" a boy older than me by some years commented. That was all I heard as I arrived at the place where Ranger Amonea was last recorded by the signal from her phone. Problems were piling up at the base so they need a more senior ranger to help them. Walking beside me was my trusty Manectric who was always loyal to his trainer.
"Ranger Amonea!" I greeted. "The base needs you now, just to let you now. I can take over this trainer, if you don't mind." I stared at the senior Ranger with awe as she nodded and took off. Manectric barked a goodbye as they went away.
Looking back at the trainer, I tried to remember all of the details about him; his name, the Pokemon he brought, and more. I tried to make a fine opening speech to the trainer, too. Finally, I made something up, though not a very good sentence. "Good day, umm... Mister Iridium. Should we moving now?" Wait! That didn't sound right. Nervousness crept inside me as I met the first trainer to escort.
Without waiting for his response, we walked deeper into the forest where taller trees grow. We stopped on a branch as Manectric growled high above a branch. An Aipom threw an acorn at Manectric's face. I quickly hushed Manectric down and tried to calmly tell to the older trainer, "Well, here's an Aipom."

"Goodmorning," I said to the new Ranger, but then looked up at the sun shining straight overhead, and realised it wasn't quite a morning. I simply shrugged my shoulders and started walking behind my new Ranger, racking my brains on what could have been the reason why Amonea had been called back.
We hadn't walked too far when suddenly the Manectric, walking beside the ranger, started barking loudly.
It had seen, or maybe heard, or smelt something up the tree, and was growling ferociously even as its trainer ran to calm it down.
"Anything the mat..." I couldn't finish before an acorn plomped down, hitting Manectric straight in the face. It stated growling even more, as my new Ranger tried his best to calm him down.
"Well, here's an Aipom."
On the topmost branch of the tree, sat a small off-white monkey, grinning widely. It was apparently having a lot of fun up there, throwing down acorns.
"I've been wanting one of these for quite a while," I said, a smile spreading on my face. "Time to spread your wings, Togekiss," I said, tossing my second Pokeball.
As the capsule burst open, quite a large bird-like thing came out of it, spreading its strong powerful wings, and came to a halt beside me, hovering about four inches above the ground, looking straight at the Aipom.
"So you've already seen what we'll be fighting, I guess," I said. "No time to waste, Togekiss, let's begin with an Aura Sphere, but make sure you don't overdo it and knock it out."
Togekiss rose slightly above, and then closed its eyes, looking exactly as if it had dozed off dangling in mid air. But I knew it was concentrating hard, so that it could gather all its energy, and launch the attack.
After about two minutes of silence, as all the creatures present in the vicinity stood rooted the spot, Togekiss suddenly opened its eyes, and opened its mouth wide, gathering a huge ball of orange-coloured stuff just in front of her mouth. As the orb grew bigger and bigger, Togekiss flapped its wings, and sent it straight towards the Aipom.
OOC: Can someone remove that Hiatus in the title? Thanks.

"I've been wanting one of these for quite a while. Time to spread your wings, Togekiss," Iridium said as he threw its ball into the air and opened air-borne. Out of it came a large white dove with some splotches of red and blue. It tweeted as it flew away from its ball.
"So you've already seen what we'll be fighting, I guess. No time to waste, Togekiss, let's begin with an Aura Sphere, but make sure you don't overdo it and knock it out."
Togekiss began charging for his attack between his wings. A small orb of energy was being formed between his wings. The Aura Sphere grew larger then bigger by only small portions as if the bird began to grow conscience even before the battle really started.
Aipom smiled as he saw the attack getting charged slower than he expected. He took advantage of it and zoomed through the branches of the trees with Agility. Within almost a second, Aipom was already behind Togekiss with his hands ready to attack her.
Togekiss turned back as she astonished herself to see the purple monkey behind her. Astonished, it then, flapped its wings and released the orange ball into Aipom.
The Aura Sphere pummeled hardly into Aipom's stomach, making him land on one of the branches. The monkey stood up quickly with its tail and showed off its great stamina to fight. Perhaps the Aura Sphere didn't had enough time to charge into its full size.

Aipom boosted its speed immensely, even as the Aura Sphere pummelled into Aipom. Aipom, however, was still quite healthy and active. A slight frown appeared on my face, as Aura Sphere hadn't gone as well as I wanted it to.
As Aipom stood making idiotic faces at me, I made up my mind what to do next.
"Hmm, Togekiss, we can't let it go running about everywhere, can we?" I said. "Let's use a Thunderwave, so that it's crippled, and then folow up with a solid Air Slash."
Togekiss took in the commands carefully, and then started gathering energy again. This time it didn't take a long time though, and just shot out a thin wave of electicity at the Aipom from the top of its head, which shot straight at the monkey, clinging to a branch with its hand-like tail. Though the attack looked meagre, I know it could be of great significance.
Even before the Thunder Wave had time to reach Aipom, Togekiss started flapping its wings really hard. Initially, the gentle breeze blowing around ceased, and the swaying leaves of the trees came to a standstill, but the next moment, the air materialised into an almost solid weapon which shot out from near Togekiss' wings towards the now startled monkey.

"Hmm, Togekiss, we can't let it go running about everywhere, can we? Let's use a Thunderwave, so that it's crippled, and then follow up with a solid Air Slash," ordered Iridium to his Pokemon.
Before Togekiss can react from the command, Jake saw the Aipom began to inhale some air. Something's not beginning to look good. Upon noticing this, Jake began to speak some words of warn the trainer. "That Aipom is about to use Screech! Cover your ears, mister Iridium," he told.
The ranger covered his ears as he returned his Manectric back to its ball. Immediately, a loud shriek was released from the Aipom's mouth. The sudden noise distracted the flying Togekiss, again. This made her fire her Thunder Wave at the wrong place. The thin thread of electricity went towards Aipom, but only had hit on it's limbs.
Frustrated, the purple monkey tried to pull itself up to the tree branch again and stood there. Before it could notice, a large blade made of air was about to hit it again. With its remaining reflexes, it swung his tail in front of the Air Slash and formed stars.
Both of the attacks clashed with each other, forming a large explosion and covering the whole battlefield with smoke. The smoke cleared out from the flapping of Togekiss' wings. From it, the explosion brought out a severely injured Aipom as well as Togekiss, though she was not hurt much from the attack.
Finally, the ranger took out his hands from his ears and brought out a bell. The bell made a nice D-flat sound that is rumored to make Pokemon happy. Aipom glanced a while at the source of the bell, while Togekiss didn't.
"Oh boy. It kinda looks like Aipom made a slight ear damage to Togekiss. Hearing a sudden noise while being used in a silent place would disturb you a lot, right? It looks like in Togekiss' place, it wasn't just ordinary loud sound, but a large volume of noise that a car makes when drifting."

Aipom's Screech had done something...funny to Togekiss' hearing, in fact I wasn't even sure what had really happened!
Forgetting about all other things, I concentrated on the job at hand. "Very well, Togekiss, you've done a good job till now, just push on for a bit more," I said to Togekiss, trying to encourage her a bit. "Use a Tri Attack now on the monkey, but just make sure you weaken it enough, but don't knock it out."
Togekiss nodded in indication that she understood, then proceeded to execute the attack. She opened her mouth wide as three small orbs of light started glowing just in front of her mouth - one bright red in colour, the second icy blue and the third electric yellow. The orbs kept glowing even more and increasing in size as they came together, and finally forged into a single beam which shot towards Aipom. The beams could be distinguished from one another, but there was some force that bound them together - instead of being seperate, they were united to form a stronger attack.

"Very well, Togekiss, you've done a good job till now, just push on for a bit more. Use a Tri Attack now on the monkey, but just make sure you weaken it enough, but don't knock it out," Iridium said as he tried to cheer the bird.
On Togekiss' ears, only a distortion of the words spoken by her trainer was heard. It sounded like: "Yows Tree-attuck naw on di mangki, bat meik shurr yu wiken eat enuff, bat downt nok eat aut..." The bird tried to make sense out of those words, but only got the "Tri-Attack" out of those group of words.
Togekiss nodded that she got the message processed in her mind. She opened her beak widely as she three orbs, in the color of red, blue and yellow respectively, appeared inside it. On Togekiss sight of the battered Aipom, those orbs began to shrink twice its size to make less damage as the bird's conscience grew.
Before the attack can be launched, the monkey was already on Togekiss' back, standing on a thick branch. With the remainder of its energy, it jumped from the great height with its claws extended. It swiped Togekiss' left wing, then the right one, and finally twice at her back with all her might. With a sudden, Aipom forgot her paralysis and ended up falling flat to the ground with a loud thump.
Togekiss shrieked with the pain on her back as well as the horror she saw on the fallen monkey. She finally fired her half-concentrated Tri-Attack on the injured Aipom, who almost fainted with the collision of her attack. Down with her care, she flew down to check if the Aipom was still okay after the attack.
"Um, do you think you should throw a Pokeball now? I feel sorry to it..." The words trailed off as the Aipom grunted to show off how hurt she was. His Manectric came out of his Pokeball again and sat beside his trainer.

I was really feeling bad for Aipom now, lying down on the ground in a pathetic condition. Even Togekiss now seemed to be feeling sorry for it.
"Um, do you think you should throw a Pokeball now? I feel sorry to it..."
I looked at my ranger, and hesitated at first. An evil thought crossed my mind, of finishing the Aipom, but I quickly shook it out of my mind. I really couldn't believe that I had actually thought of that.
"Of...Of course," I replied back. I pushed my hand into my pocket and brought out a shiny gleaming Park Ball. It was much like an ordinary Pokeball, except the red part was a nice shade of Green instead. I threw the ball lightly onto the Aipom, not wanting to hurt it anymore. to my immense surprise, Aipom was apparently relieved to see me pulling out a Pokeball.
As the metal surface of the ball touched Aipom's heavily bruised skin, Ait opened up with a click, and sucked up Aipom's red silhoutte, and the ball clasped shut, fell on the ground and started shaking. Aipom though damaged badly, still had some strength left.

"Of... Of course," the trainer replied. Jake sighed a sigh of relief for the Aipom won't get hurt anymore. He saw Iridium got a small green Parkball from his pocket and threw the spherical device to the damaged Aipom. The ball sucked the purple monkey to nothingness and fell down to the ground.
*Wiggle wiggle*
*Ding!*
The Parkball stopped moving on the ground. Inside it, the Aipom was safely sleeping in a deep slumber as she tried to recover. They finally caught it, though Manectric still kept his growls low. With Jake's orders, the dog picked the ball in his mouth and gave it to his trainer.
Here's the ball," he said. Jake got the ball from Manectric's mouth, thankfully it wasn't wet from his saliva, and handed it over to Iridium. Suddenly, he thought he forgot something. Well, Iridium might still not know his name. "And I think I forgot to mention my name," he admitted. "Well, I'm Ranger Jacob Sparks, Jake for short. This here is my Manectric, Trike."
He headed towards the fork on the road and asked, "Where now, left or right?"

As the ball clicked to a halt, a smile spread over my face. I was about to go ahead and pick up the ball, when my Ranger's Manectric rushed over to it, and scooping up the ball in its mouth handed over to its trainer. He then walked over to me and handed it over to me, and I murmured a thanks. I pocketed the ball, and gently tapped it, and the smile on my face widened.
"And I think I forgot to mention my name. Well, I'm Ranger Jacob Sparks, Jake for short. This here is my Manectric, Trike."
I nodded at Jake, and give Trike a small pat on the head, and then started following Jake, who had suddenly turned away from me.
"Where now, left or right?"
I didn't reply immediately, instead I put up two fingers, closed my eyes and grasped on of them with my other hand.
"Right."
Before we left the area though, I called Togekiss towards me, and whispered in its ear. Togekiss listened patiently, and then flew away slightly, and sat on the ground, folding up its wings While it Roosted, I tossed my other Pokeball, and Infernape came out of it. He still had a few cuts and bruises on his body, and was also bleeding slightly.
"Infernape, why don't you use Slack Off?" I said. Infernape nodded and closed its eyes slightly and lay down on the ground as well, healing itself.
"You don't mind waiting a bit, do you, Jake?"

After I had asked Iridium, he made the choosing of the road depend on his luck. He closed his eyes and pointed two of his fingers to both of the ways. Quickly, he grasped on his finger pointing to the right and answered, "Right!"
Before venturing to that direction I peered through the trees to make sure we're going to a safe part of the forest. It looked safe enough, for me: tall trees line up a clearing with some red and yellow flowers blossoming on a corner. Small Pokemon can live here peacefully, so I thought.
"Infernape, why don't you use Slack Off?" Iridium said to his flaming monkey. I just realized that this guy still had good stuff in him, letting his Pokemon rest outside battle. His Togekiss sat on the ground with her nicely folded wings tucked in while his Infernape dozed off in the grass for a moment. "You don't mind waiting a bit, do you, Jake?"
"No, not at all," I answered. Catching up with them did tire me, after all. I might as well as rest, now. I sat on a tree stump, smoothly cut by some Pokemon, and looked at the distant path. The faster we finish, the quicker I can return and rest at an Outpost.
"Ready to set off, now?" I asked Iridium and his Pokemon.

"Alright! Let's start walking again, if you want." I whistled to alarm Manectric that we are about to get moving.
We walked straight ahead as we reached the end of the dirt path. This clearing looked like it can be made into a nice sanctuary with its good features. Tall trees line the walls of the clearing. Its leaves doesn't block the sunlight, which is good for the Grass-type Pokemon living here. Flowers were planted on sides and some berry bushes grow near the center.
On the middle of the bush, rustling was made by some unknown object. Manectric growled at the bush with a very low voice. With his effort, the rustling faded away and a small sprout was seen sunbathing. It had delicate green leaves attached to his body, which looked like only a small branch. Its head resembles as a flower with a bell's shape.
"Oh, look! A Bellsprout," I exclaimed. These Pokemon were known to be carnivorous during its last stages of evolution. But during its Bellsprout years, it only eats small things like insects and nutrients from the soil. Encountering a small one than the larger one can be safer and better, as what I think.

All three of us started walking, even though I'm not sure if Iridium liked making his Pokemon stay outside. Those kind of things normally scare small and young Pokemon.
I already recalled my Pokemon into their balls, so you might want to edit this part :o
IC:
"Oh, look! A Bellsprout,"
As we were walking in the forest, Jake suddenly exclaimed. I looked towards the spot where Manectric was sniffing and growling, and noticed a small plant like Pokemon was sunbathing.
"I'm not too interested in a Bellsprout, so let's not disturb it and move on," I said.

"I'm not too interested in a Bellsprout, so let's not disturb it and move on," Iridium said.
Just after Iridium finished his sentence, a loud thump from the ground afar was heard. I took a peek and saw this really cool-looking bug. Its blue shell covered its body as well as its wings. A large horn sprouted in the middle of its forehead and it looked quite sturdy. Hmm, a Heracross would be a nice addition to the team.
It looked like it just finished its training, as a large trunk of a tree was fallen down. It stomped on the ground and growled at us, including the Bellsprout. The small sprout fled in fear and ran away as fast as its little roots can carry it. The large beetle saw us later, and walked towards us with a scary look on its face.
"Want a Heracross?" I aked Iridium with a rather nervous sounding voice. It seemed to be enraged. Maybe a bad berry or something. Anyways, I continued my question regarding the latest encounter, "We can leave as soon as you can choose, I just hope that soon is now."

As the Heracross appeared instantaneously in front of our eyes, I was quite startled. It blue shell looked really awesome in the dim sunlight, and it had an impressive personality overall. The scene would have been even better had the Heracross not been frowning ferociously at us.
I was wondering what could be the reason for its anger, when Jake called out.
"Want a Heracross? We can leave as soon as you can choose, I just hope that soon is now."
"Uh, I might as well have a go at capturing it," I said, pulling out my Pokeball again and tossing it in the air, making a much healthier Togekiss appear.
"Ready to battle again, Togekiss?" I asked slowly, gently stroking her feathers. Togekiss gently closed her eyes, and seemed to be smiling!
Heracross seemed to have realised that it was in the middle of the battle, and had began to flex its muscles threateningly. I pondered a while on which move to use. There was also the risk that its ability might be Guts, so I decided not to inflict any status and give it the potential attack boost.
After thinking a while I said, "Use Air Slash now Togekiss, but make sure you weaken it enough but not too much to knock it out."
Togekiss took in my words, and then proceed to execute the move. She folded her wings sharply first, then spread them far and wide, which resulted in the creation of a high pressure zone around her wings, so that a strong current of wind blew from her wings straight towards Heracross’ well-built physical body. It would be tough to weaken Heracross with physical attacks, but I had a good chance with special techniques.

"Uh, I might as well have a go at capturing it. Ready to battle again, Togekiss?" Iridium got a Pokeball from his pocket, again and revealed the same large white dove who fought with the Aipom. This time, her wounds were healed again and is ready to get her trainer some new party members.
"Use Air Slash now Togekiss, but make sure you weaken it enough but not too much to knock it out," the trainer ordered his Pokemon after quite while of thinking. After that, Togekiss spread her wings wide and blew wind with them quickly. Togekiss knew that a Flying-type move would do much damage to the beetle, so she restricted her attack as low as possible. This resulted to a short sharp-edged wind that made its way towards the beetle.
Heracross saw the attack coming and decided to make a risky move. Before Togekiss can even release her attack, Heracross already ran towards her shadow and braced himself at the same time as the Air Slash slashed through him. Dust flew over them as the force of the wind stricken the ground.
When the dust came off, Heracross jumped over the cloud of dust with sharp pointed stones surrounding him. Stone Edge! Each stone was launched at the large dove with their pointed side facing Togekiss. Togekiss, however, rebounded to the ground where some of the stones used in Heracross' attack lay making her shriek as the sharp edges scratched through her feathers.
This Heracross is smart, just as I thought. It used the its opponent's attack to take cover and ambush its opponent at the time she might have suspected an attack less. But, is this Pokemon really crazy? Surely, executing your own attack near at your opponent would do more damage, but, why risk your own luck? Who cares anyway...

As large brutal stones were hurled at my lovely Togekiss, she uttered a groan of pain. The sharp edges of the stones teared at Togekiss' delicate feathers like steel knives. Togekiss was hurt badly, but still maintained her composure.
However, I could see that Heracross was not at complete ease either. The Air Slash had gone straight through its body, damaging it quite a lot.
"Togekiss, you've done a great job," I said, moving close to her. "Use an Extremespeed now, before it can attack you, but make sure you don't faint it."
Togekiss heard and sped off like a bullet. In the small distance there was between the bird and the bug, Togekiss appeared a mere speck. I quickly extracted another ball from my Pocket, but unlike the earlier one, this was a deep golden colour, with a blotch of black in the middle. I poked the Hyper Ball in the centre, so that it enlarged and then threw it at the Heracross, as Togekiss sped towards the Heracross to complete the Extremespeed.

"Use an Extremespeed now!"
Togekiss flailed her wings helplessly as she tried to remain air-borne. This would be her last attack if she weren't either got caught in an attack or her trainer managed to caught the large blue bug. With her last bit of effort, she sped from her place to Heracross', but instead of traveling into a strand of line, she got there with a pint of slowness.
Heracross watched as the large bird charged towards him. He knew the attack would be the end of him if it had hit at full speed. Instinctively, he summed up his strength and ran to crash with the bird. With the movements of his feet, his arms began punching everywhere and his horn was flung from side to side.
"Be careful there, Togekiss," cheered Jake to the trainer beside him's Pokemon. "It's using Reversal, so look out!"
Just right after Jake's sentence finished, their clash happened with a blink of an eye. Togekiss' right wing went straight towards Heracross' body while the bug's horn flung the bird helplessly to her trainer's feet. Just then, a Hyper Ball had hit the beetle's head and absorbed it. It fell into the ground and wiggled once, twice, thrice... until it clicked.
"Cangratulations for your new Pokemon!" congratulated Jake to Iridium. This would be his last battle to encounter before his full Ranger test would take place if Iridium wanted to leave. He looked behind him and saw the large dove wounded and injured. It looks like Heracross made a finishing move before it gave in. "Should we return to the Headquarters now and heal Togekiss, or continue this trip?"

As Togekiss rushed towards Heracross, it just appeared a wee bit slower than usual. It was probably because of the fact that Togekiss had lost a huge amount of health and energy after Heracross' assault. Still, it did its best, and got Heracross down to very low health.
As the Hyper Ball touched Heracross, there was a blinding flash of red light, which forced my eyes shut. After about a minute or so, when I opened my eyes, there were two contrasting scenes in front of my eyes: The Hyper Ball in which Heracross was now captured lay on the ground, and just a few yards away from it lay my Togekiss, thoroughly exhausted.
I was going through a weird phase at the moment: I wanted to really laugh out at the success of capturing the bug, but there was also a feeling of sorrow at seeing Togekiss lying unconscious on the ground. It took a few minutes for me to take control of my feelings.
I went ahead and picked up my newly caught Heracross, and then recalled my Togekiss back into her ball.
"Should we return to the Headquarters now and heal Togekiss, or continue this trip?"
"Let's hang around a bit, I guess," was all I said.

"Let's hang around a bit, I guess," Iridium said. He had picked his Heracross' ball up and returned his exhausted Togekiss back to her ball. Mixed expressions started showing up from the battle's result on Iridium's face; happiness, delight, excitement... sadness, doubt, sorrow. For Heracross' capture, Togekiss' health was risked.
I didn't think rushing into a Pokemon battle right away would suit him more. Perhaps, a two to three minute break from battling would help him calm a bit. Now to decide where to go next. Well, we can just visit the bugs and hope that the aroma wafting from the flowers would be good. "Should we go north? It is where some Bug-types live, by the way."

"I'm not too fond of bug types, you know, though a Scyther would be great," I said, cheering up a bit at the thought of capturing a Scyther.
I was thankful to Jake, who was intentionally keeping me away from the places where Pokemon were likely to appear, and talking in loud voices, so that Pokemon didn't approach us. I really needed this two-three minute break from battling to calm down a bit.

"I'll leave it up to you to decide where we should go next. Preferably somewhere where lots of good Pokemon live," Iridium said. It looks like that the boy had cheered up a little. Now would be the best time to show another Pokemon for that he seemed ready to get another battle done.
"Let's get started, then!" said Jake. "Manectric, lead the way if you please."
Manectric bowed, and started sniffing the air. Almost at once, the electric canine got a really strong one and barked to signify its findings. It then rushed towards the source of the odor and sprinted. Manectric almost didn't cared whether he ran through a rocky path or through a spiky bush, but still ran.
Jake tugged he older trainer's hand and said something to make Iridium follow. "Let's follow him. He may know something we might like." They followed the Manectric until they reached a thick leafy forest with some berry trees growing everywhere. From afar, they saw the electric dog lapping on a puddle of Berry Juice.
Manectric drank almost majority of the puddle and went back to the trainers. A small rock-like creature with jelly-like limbs stared at the people as Manectric left it. The Shuckle may have its first time seeing those kinds of creatures. Powered by instincts, the Shuckle poised itself onto battle.
"There's a Shuckle. Want it?"

Manectric led us towards a thick leafy forest area. As we approached the area, we could see the dog lapping at a puddle of purple Berry Juice, obviously enjoying it a lot. As we looked for the source of the juice, we spotted a Shuckle a few metres away, getting ready for a battle.

"Nope, I'm not too interested in it. Let's move forward." Iridium said as he saw the lone Shuckle. They were known to have greater defenses from most of the Pokemon, making me captivated to them. I would want to see a battle with one of those, but it looks like luck wouldn't allow me.
"Should we go now? We can see..." Then a long and loud yawn interrupted my beautiful speech. The yawn was heard as if someone was about to take a nap. Shuckle obviously didn't looked tired or sleepy when we last saw it. Now, I decided to look at the source of the long and drowsy yawn.
What I saw was a lazy looking sloth hanging on a tree branch. It had two large claws on its paws and a pig-like nose on its face. A flesh colored pelt covered its whole body as it hugged a tree, avoiding falling from the tree.

"As much as I'd love to add a Slaking to my team, I think I'll let it pass this time. I don't want Infernape to be damaged too much." Iridium said. Fighting his decision wouldn't help much either as it would look like forcing him on catching one of my 'favorite Pokemon to ignore'. Its laziness gets into my nerves just by looking at it.
Transferring my gaze from the Slakoth to the path, I hurried along. We were still at the dirt path leading to the next outpost of the island, the Great Lakes. "Let's keep going, if you want. I'm sure there are other good Pokemon waiting to be captured," I reassured my trainer. He might be losing interest from now so I might as well cheer him up.
We left Slakoth's tree and went inner to the Woods's body. Compared to his tree, a giant sycamore tree stood in our way. I was giant, I mean it! A hundred people holding each others' hands would probably the only way to describe its size. It might even lived for more than hundreds of years, compared to the normal fifty-plus year trees.
Suddenly, two kinds of smells mixed with each other in the air. One of them smelled like freshly picked flowers from my grandma's garden with some pint of perfume. The other was kinda... meh. It's stench probably equals rotting garbage, decomposing fertilizer as well as household residues.
I don't know if I should hold my nose or what. I don't even know if I should like the fragrance or hate the stench. Manectric kinda doesn't know the answer either, as he was rolling from side to side, tears flowed from his eyes. Poor doggy. I forgot his nose was more sensitive than a normal human nose, so I quickly withdrew him inside his Pokeball.
I took a look at Iridium. I wonder what would he pick if I asked him which way to follow. The left side of the tree, where the fragrance flows, or the right side, where the awful smelling air came from. Pokemon might even be hiding behind them, so this would be a fifty-fifty choice for someone to make. Without even thinking about it, the words suddenly came out of my mouth. "If you were to pick one side, what would it be? The stinky one or the other?"

Jake was trying to cheer me up a bit as we moved forward. We were almso coming to the end of the forest, as I remembered the map of the National Park I had studied before entering the area.
As we neared a huge tree, suddenly a mixed smell started coming from the two paths of the fork. From one side came a very sweet fragrance, and from the other side came a terrible stench. They diminished each others effects slightly, but the stench seemed to be standing out. Jake's Manectric, who had a more sensitive nose than a human started rolling on the floor, tears flowing out of its eyes.
Jake quickly withdrew his Pokemon into his ball and then turned to me, looking deep in thought. Suddenly words burst out from his mouth.

"Let's take the other one. I'm not interested in going straight into the stench," Iridium said as he chose which side to choose. It had been an obvious choice for people who always try to stay safe. I would have chosen this side too, if I was the one to choose, since stranger Pokemon would have stayed in that direction.
Whatever the decision happened, I led the curious trainer towards the chosen side. Flowers and shrubs grow better on that side of the sycamore tree, compared to the brownish color of the plants on the other side. A small spring lay on one side and those tiny buds of daisies grouped themselves on the sides.
Fluttering above the picture was a small and graceful bug. The mixture of black, purple and blue colors decorated the female looking insect. It was obvious that this Illumise would love enjoying its habitat all day, or it might just be passing the time by for waiting till night, when Volbeats appear.
"How about this one? Want an Illumise to your arsenal?" I asked to Iridium. He might be trying to find something good or rare in this trip, since he wants to continue this adventure even with three Pokemon already caught.

We took the from which came the sweet fragrance, and soon came to a beautiful, blooming with vibrant coloured flowers, and a small bubling spring full of crystal clear water. Fluttering bove this beautiful scene was a Bug-type Pokemon, looking at us with a suspicious gaze.
"How about this one? Want an Illumise to your arsenal?"
"Not really, no," I said. "We should continue moving on."

"Not really, no. We should continue moving on?" asked Iridium.
As his sentence finished, a small pink-colored canine appeared thrashing across the beautiful scene. It stomped hard and roared at the dancing firefly. The Snubull ran towards the spring as the Illumise left and began lapping the water.
"Looks like we don't need to move to get to the next one!"

As we were about to move away, there was a sudden commotion around. A small pink dog came rushing towards us, also scarung away the Illumise.

"Well, we'll need to move anyway. I'm not too interested in this little thing." Iridium said as he saw the Snubull scare away the Illumise. It looks like as the trainer don't like Pokemon who are rarely used by other trainers. First, the Shuckle, then the Illumise and finally, Snubull. I don't even know if he'll get the next encounter.
"We'll leave then, if you want," I answered. I thought of just circling the whole tree before finally going back home. This huge tree can be considered as a small ecosystem, if you look at it. This means getting more Pokemon without walking much. This place is also close to the next outpost, making traveling easier later.
"Should we go around this tree?" I asked. "It looks like a large group of Pokemon lives here and we can see more without going farther. " After my explanation, I went around to scout for any dangers lurking for our client. A second later, something was around making a strange noise.
"Annnnsssss..."
"It looks like an Ekans is somewhere near here. Should we look for it, or just leave it as it is." I told.

Jake suggested that we should circle a large tree nearby, so I agreed as well, as that would save us some time.
A few seconds later, we heard a slight hiss, indicating that a Pokemon was nearby.
It looks like an Ekans is somewhere near here. Should we look for it, or just leave it as it is.
"Let's leave it as it is, and look for something else," I said.

"Let's leave it as it is, and look for something else," Iridium said. With that answer, we left the creepy place and began circling the tree. Upon walking, it looked like rattling sound was slowly disappearing as it mixed with the sounds of the grass crunching upon our stomping feet.
From a certain point of their walk, hanging cobwebs began to fall out. A large web hanging from a web down to the ground somewhat blocked our path. From its corner, a decayed body of a small Pokemon laid. Above us, a creepy pair of yellow eyes watched us until it came down. It was an Ariados.
"Want it?"

As we started circling the tree, the hissing sound slowly started diminishing, and as we moved on, suddenly a large scary spider started descending slowly, with its creepy yellow eyes.
"Want it?"
"Nope, let's get out of here quickly," I said, as a memory of my childhood came flodding back to me when...
No, I'd better not think about that, I said to myself.

"Nope, let's get out of here quickly," replied Iridium. His voice gave off a scary feel as well as the sound of fear. This trainer might have either been traumatized by an Ariados before, got arachnophobia his whole life or even both. And since it might be a bit personal on his side, I shouldn't talk to him about it much.
"Oh... okay," was the only thing I said to him. We left the spider web of the evolved Spinarak and continued walking until we got to the stinky side of the tree. It was almost a complete opposite of Illumise's side; some flowers and shrubs wilt around, and grass gave off a brownish color. On the next side was a Skuntank.
"Take it or leave it?" I challenged the trainer.

As we left the spider alone, suddenly the terrible stench returned, and it was much more than before this time. The scene on this side of the tree was in sharp contrast to the other side, where the Illumise was hanging around - the flowers and small trees were in a really bad state, and the grass was also a dull brownish shade. Standing near the scene was a large purple Pokemon - Skuntank. It seemed it had stayed here for quite a while, hence the scene in front of our eyes.
"Take it or leave it?"
"I think I'll have a go at this," I said. "Atleast the plant life around here will get some relief when he's gone," I continued with a slight grin.
I pulled out the small red-white orb from my pocket, and tossed it in the air. The ball opened with a small click, but a blinding flash of red light, which drew Skuntank's attention towards us. As the light disappeared, Infernape stood in front of us, directly facing the Skuntank. As he came out, the surrounding area became slightly more illuminated because of Infernape's blazing flames, and I realised how dark it was becoming.
"Let's start this, Infernape," I said. "Begin with a Swords Dance then launch an Earthquake to weaken the Skuntank, but make sure you don't knock it out, alright?"
Infernape gave a brief nod, and then took a few paces forward. After a few seconds, as he adjusted to the horrible smell around, he brought together both his monkey palms, and held straight above his head, and started rotating about the fixed spot on which it was standing. This was, he boosted both his mental concentration and physical strength, so that his attacking power increased.
After he had completed this, he rushed forward a bit more, but not going very near Skuntank, and started pounding the ground with his heavy muscular fists, so that small vibrations started emerging from beneath the ground. We could feel them too, but they were directed more towards Skuntank.
"We'd better back off a bit," I advised Jake. "The worst is yet to come."
As we stepped back a bit, Infernape stood straight on his hands, and looked quite a comical sight. But I knew this was not something to laugh at, as it could seriously weaken even the strongest of Pokemon. He then landed heavily on his legs, standing upright, sending powerful seismic waves around, and continued beating his fists on the ground, just like aftershocks after a major Earthquake.
OOC: Yay big post :D The small "running away" posts were getting boring xP

"I think I'll have a go at this. At least the plant life around here will get some relief when he's gone," Iridium said once he saw the surroundings, and maybe because of that he doesn't have any time left to stay in the park. "Let's start this, Infernape. Begin with a Swords Dance then launch an Earthquake to weaken the Skuntank, but make sure you don't knock it out, alright?" he ordered.
Infernape nodded to show that he heard his trainer's words and began to step forward, positioned his palms to face each other and concentrated. He held his hands above his head and started rotating about the fixed spot on which it was standing. From that on, all of his physical attacks, including Earthquake, will get boosted by the strange dance.
After charging the attack, Infernape rushed towards the wild Pokemon and started to punch the ground heavily with its well-developed muscles. Shock waves started to travel from the ground to the skunk Pokemon. The strength of this attack was still visible through the cracks it left on the battlefield, even though Infernape wanted this to weaken cause of his trainer's wish.
"We'd better back off a bit," Iridium advised Jake. "The worst is yet to come."
Of course we backed off to evade the ground's movements. The attack managed to reach our location, though only a small portion of its power was felt. Something surprised me though, it was how Skuntank reacted, not the Earthquake. At first, it got tripped over and almost fell with its weight but eventually managed to jump at Infernape's body. This was almost like a play-fight than an attack, for Skuntank's case.
Something in the air made my nose twist out of pure disgust. The purple furred Pokemon just have launched a Poison Gas attack subconsciously and made the whole area stink. Quickly as I could, I grabbed my handkerchief in my pocket and covered my nose. Its a good thing that we were far from them, but its different for the ape. He couldn't cover his nose because of Skuntank's body and on top of it, the source is actually covering him!
From the looks of it, both of them looked like liking each others attitude as they still rolled on the ground after being pinned. Despite the poison the gas has caused, Infernape still managed to play with it. With smile on their faces, it seems that they were playing instead of fighting.
"Looks like your Pokemon got a friend," I said, though my voice got a little funny with me covering the air passage of my nose. Through most of the time in this area, I had been covering my nose with my favorite handkerchief.

While Infernape was busy with his moves, Skuntank had got ready for battle as well. It had released a huge cloud of poisonous purple gas into the air, which almost blinded our view of what was happening between the two Pokemon.
Jake had taken out a handkerchief to cover his nose and mouth from the attack, and so did I. This gas could do...funny things if it got inside.
As the thick gas started diminishing a bit, we saw a strange sight. Skuntank was right on top of Infernape, and the two Pokemon were rolling about on the floor, obviously having fun together. It looked like the Poison Gas had disturbed Infernape somehow.
"Looks like your Pokemon got a friend."
I simply raised an eyebrow, but said nothing in reply to this.
"Infernape, stop all this," I said sternly. "You're in the middle of a battle. Shake that Pokemon away and use Brick Break, but make sure you don't faint it.
My words seem to shake Infernape back to realisation, and he pushed Skuntank away and got up. Skuntank seemed a bit hurt with this, but realised too, that this was no time for fun and games.
Infernape began readying himself for the Brick Break attack. He crossed his arms making an "X" with them, focusing hard on the target. He stood still and closed his eyes, and looked almost as if he had gone to sleep. After a few moments of absolute silence, he unfolded his arms and rushed towards Skuntank, where he would bring back his arms together into the same "X" formation, completing the attack.
As Infernape rushed towards Skuntank, I put my hand inside my pocket, and brought out another gold and black Hyper Ball from it. I poked it in the middle to make it bigger in size, and taking aim, directed it towards Skuntank.
OOC: Male Skuntank.

"Infernape, stop all this. You're in the middle of a battle. Shake that Pokemon away and use Brick Break, but make sure you don't faint it." Iridium's order was cool and stern, but with a hint of strictness in his voice. He sounded more serious in catching Skuntank than catching Aipom earlier.
Infernape threw of Skuntank's body and crossed his arms making an "X" with them, focusing hard on the target. He rushed towards the purple skunk and brought back his arms together into the same "X" formation, completing the attack.
Something they haven't notice, Skuntank acted upon Infernape's signs of aggression and attacked the same time Brick Break had hit. Its front claws extended to Infernape's side, revealing a gash of blood on its side. Looks like Slash had hit the critical point of the ape's body.
Meanwhile, the enlarged ball had hit the skunk's head and swallowed it whole. It landed on the wilting grass and tilted once... twice.. thrice... And then, a small sound of a click signalling the capture sounded on the ball.
"Thank you for visiting the National Park, sir. I hope you enjoyed your trip," I said to Iridium, who just finished his fifteen encounters. "I hope you have picked the three you want to keep."

I went towards the place where the ball lay on the ground, and scooped it up in my hands. The Poison Gas still persisted in the air, and it wasn't very pleasant staying here.

"Let's get out of here. The smell's getting to me. First thing I'm doing is giving this Skuntank a bath. Oh, and I think I'll release Farfetch'd back into the forest, and keep the rest." Iridium got a Parkball from his pocket and released whatever creature as caught inside there. After all, you can only keep three Pokemon at a time.
Out from the ball, a Farfetch'd came limping down. It looks like Iridium did some nasty battling with it when he was from my senior's care. I took a small bottle of medicine from my bag an sprayed its contents to the brown bird's wing. Its wounds healed as if it was magic. Energetically, he flapped his wings and flew off.
The stink wore of by the time Farfetch'd left the scene, and Manectric came out of his ball now. Sparks came out from his tail's end as he got a signal from the nearest Ranger Outpost, which seems to be just about a meter away. A little walka could reach it in less than an hour and then, a little rest before escorting Iridium back to the docks.
