View Full Version : PokeWalker efficiency?

Uhm. I was just wondering. Do you find the PokeWalker efficient?

For me, it is. I mean, even though the graphics isn't that good (which i know will be improved sooner or later), it gives you the ability to obtain PokeWalker-exclusive pokemons and gives your pokemon experiences just by walking.

What is the best part of a PokeWalker for you? On contrary, what is the worst or not-so-good?

And also, just wondering, how often do you use your Pokewalker?

Good - Free RareCandies.
Bad - 1 Level Per Pokemon per Stroll.

i dont think the graphics should improve i like them just the way they are, it gives a rougher, better way of catching pokemon.

Seconded, but rare items go beyond just Rare Candies. You can only get some of the EV reducing berries via Pokewalker.

Thing is, that's it's ONLY flaw (other than the fact that broken walker=lost poke) and the benefits are enormous.
Free level gain for walking? Rare items? Exclusive pokemon? And free ev berries? Yes please. The graphics are great and right where they should be, if anything they should be more like the Pikachu tomagachi pet from all those years ago.

I don't see really what's wrong with the + one Level every stroll since if they just let it run like the Daycarer centre your pokemon would be Like Lv80 and that would ruin the game [Well it would for me]

And you can get other rare items other than "Rarecandies" Like EV reducing items, Evolution Stones and A tun of decent TMs.

No, you can retrieve the mon somehow. I can't remember exactly, but it's in the manual - if you don't know where your manual is, a Google search would probably give you the answer.

The graphics are fine. Not everything needs to be 'WOWSUPERHIGHDEFINITION' - the simplicity of it makes it great.

I don't really give a crap about rare candies, but being able to get more than 1 rare tm is awesome. I have 5 Psychics and 0 rare candies. Love it.

I would  I'm just saying I think it'd be cool if there was a full game that was like that. Maybe not as a complete version if if you could unlock a mode in the game where you could turn the whole world like that if you wanted to.

As for the main part of the thread, I really don't use the pokéWalker even though I could . I think it's an interesting addition but I usually forget about it. I often have to walk to and from school though so maybe I'll throw it into my backpack or something.

A Pokémon that has been transfered onto a Pokéwalker isn't actually sent to the device, but rather copied and the data for the Pokémon is sent. The targeted Pokémon is instead put aside, and can't be used in the game, until the data has been returned to the game. Therefore, if a Pokéwalker is lost or damaged, the Pokémon is not lost. Pokémon can be restored to the game it was taken from if a Pokéwalker is lost or broken by pressing and holding Up, Select, and R at the Pokéwalker connection screen. The Pokémon will be returned to the PC box with its level or happiness unaffected.

For those who don't feel like taking Pichu Boy's suggestion of googling "Retriving Pokémon from the Pokéwalker"

On-topic: I don't have HG/SS so I don't have the Pokéwalker, but I do know people who do and are perfectly content with the Generation-I-quality graphics and the ability to level up a pokemon per stroll.

I have another flaw in the PokeWalker...if the Pokemon you're walking gets to a level where it is supposed to learn a new move, it doesn't. Right? I was walking my lv. 39 Meganium and it's supposed to learn Body Slam at 40 but it didna. What do?

Yeah, this and the lack of finding a way to EV train it are the only flaws I know of.
I like the one level thing, so that it doesn't miss all those moves. Plus, I get to have my Togepi in there forever(trying to catch flying pikachu) and I know when it comes out, one level and I FINALLY have a Togetic. <3

No.

It can only level up one level, I can only take it around every other day for fear of losing it in Gym class, and both of my Pokéwalkers have already succumbed to the wrath of the washing machine. Compare that to Pearl, which lived through a year and a half of sitting in my backyard and worked good as new.

ok sure whats one level.? but i think the benefits of the Pokewalkers is increase with the more steps and Watts you obtain. Oh let me also add that for those of you who say knw someone else with a pokewalker dont 4get to ask (if you need to) so that you both obtain that free item..
we here have 3 pokewalkers and when we dont 4get to use them we take advantage of the free item.. whats one item.. it actually does.. I've been connecting on the "Winners Path" route and you get some good items if you wait till you have 5 k or so steps... choice specs, power bands, you name it,

I'm getting SoulSilver tomorrow and can't wait to try the pokewalker. From what I've read it seems good. Btw what pokemon are exclusive to the pokewalker?

Serebii's page is best to answer this question, I think.

You have to walk more steps and you will unlock the different courses on the pokewalker

I believe the Pokewalker has an inaccurate step counter. I mean, mine always stops counting after every 6 steps, then I have to wait for 10 minutes or so until it will count steps again.

I've been wandering in the Treehouse in search of a female Kecleon but nooo, all I find are males.
