View Full Version : Pokemon: A ROCK OF SOME SORTS VERSION [SU]

NES2
01-07-2011, 09:21 PM
Note: This RP originally started as a private RP on GTS+. That private RP unfortunately ended in three posts because my partner ended up leaving, so I decided to redesign it for public usage. So, here it is.

Other Note: This RP was created as parody and should be taken as nothing more than a lovingly made joke about a beloved video game franchise. If you have a problem with this, you have no sense of humor and should get one.

POKEMON
A ROCK OF SOME SORTS VERSION

Introduction: Once upon a time, in the year 1996, a game franchise came to exist. Known as "Pocket Monsters", the simple idea of catching creatures with various powers came to be extremely popular over the years. The game was loved by millions by gamers all over the world, and turned into a massive franchise with sequels, card games, mangas, animes, fan-sites, and cults dedicated to it.

The secret to the series success: Doing the exact same thing with different pokemon, a cool side game, and a fan base that will play Pokemon until the end of time. The formula has only changed minimally over the years, the plot always the same: You are ten, you get a animal that can evolve into a WMD, you are sent off to get badges, fight evil, and fill your Pokedex with seemingly useless information about magical creatures.

This RP is exactly that, amplified to the 11th power and parodied with the power of ten-thousand Stephen Colberts shoved into a comedy generator. This shall be the END-ALL parody of Pokemon, with all character archtypes being used to the point where you'll wonder if you are actually technically playing a Pokemon game just by participating in this RP. Seriously, it's going to be insane, with everything you know and love about your childhood being thrown into an incineration for lulz. We will hold nothing back. This. Is. Pokemon AROSSV.

Plot: At the age of 10 your parents or guardians decided they have had enough of you and the price tag that comes with raising a child and have decided to send you out with no guidance whatsoever into the cruel world instead of sending you to college. As custom in this insanely Japanese themed version of Earth, you begin your journey into the unknown by visiting your region's Pokemon Professor, a perverted old man who will scar you mentally within the five minutes you are with him. After choosing a Pokemon (Any starter is available for you to choose), you will begin your journey for glory, fame, and survival. Along the way VILLAINS who have nothing better to do than to pick on children will try to foil your badge-getting and attempt to steal your pokemon, but will promptly get beaten down because you are JUST THAT BADASS. Eventually, you will beat the Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and the Champion, and the RP shall end there. If your a Coordinator.... we don't really care.

This is the region we will be travelling in. Because I am lazy I have not numbered or named the towns, and we will just go along naming them as we come to them and actually using our IMAGINATIONS. We start is the farthest town east, by the way. The region itself will be known as the REMAR REGION.

Sign-ups:

Since we must make sure all character archtypes are used, there will be two types of characters: Regular characters and Archetype characters. Regular characters will be... regular, but the archetype characters will play a special role in this RP as being the parody character of the archtype used in the game. There will be a list of these characters which will be kept, and they are as follows.

Silent 10 Year Old Male Protagonist On His Journey
The Protagonist's Adorable Sidekick Pokemon
Derpy Rival Who Tries to Act Cool but Fails A Lot
Female Companion Who Really Doesn't Have A Purpose
Evil Villian Who Wants To Blow Up The World And Steal Pokemon From Children (TAKEN)
The Villian's Idiot Minions
Pokemon Champion Who You See Throughout The Game But Don't Realise Is The Champion (TAKEN)
Obligatory Derpy Companion Who Participates in Contests
The Guy Who Acts Like A Total Prick And Abuses Pokemon
Derpy Anime Protagonist with Spiky Hair And A Baseball Cap
His Derpy Mouse Sidekick
BROCK (TAKEN)
THAT REDHEAD GYM LEADER CHICK
GARY ************* OAK

I will add archtypes later on, but for now these are the one's available. When taken I shall list the category as so. Please indicate if you want one of these characters in your SU so they don't get stolen, k? Now, the sheet, ripped partially from Neo Pikachu because again, I am lazy. Also, in your reserve please state your archetype beforehand for the same reason.

Uaaa! * 0* I want to join this roleplay~ Can we take more than one character? Because I'm really digging the idea of that Champion, but also the Silent Protagonist... OH IDEA. Can we use canons? Because I've got this image of eighteen-year-old Red being the Silent Protagonist.

NES2

Yeah you can use canons, since Ash, Misty, and Brock are going to be in this. You can have many regular characters, but only one special to spread the love, ok?

Can I be reserved as the Evil villain who wants to blow up the world and steal pokemon from children, please? I've always wanted to play the bad guy.
EDIT: Does it have to be Giovanni or could it be someone I make up?

Reserved, and since this is an imaginary region it can be an imaginary villain.

Okay, heres mine.

Name: Brock

Gender: Male

Age: 20

Type of Character: Archtype

Description:

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/2/21/Brock_DP_Anime_art.png

Brock's most notable feature about his appearance is that his eyes naturally appear closed. The rare times people see them open are when they are forced open unnaturally: from a hit with Charmander's Flamethrower in The Ninja Poké-Showdown, when being hit in the back of the head by Arbok's tail in Who Gets to Keep Togepi?, and when he makes a face for Larvitar in A Crowning Achievement. This has been the center of fan attention for a long time.

He also has tan skin, notably darker than the skin of any other major character in the anime, until Iris in the Best Wishes series.

Brock, along with Tracey and Dent, are the tallest of Ash's traveling companions, and the closest to looking like an adult. Next to actual adult characters, however, it is clear that he is still a teenager.

Not counting temporary outfits, he has worn three different outfits over the span of the anime, all of which have had the colors orange, green, and brown, with blue shoes. His outfits in the games are also made up of the colors orange, green, and brown.

Personality:

Brock is considered the most mature, wise and level-headed of the main characters, and he is arguably the most intelligent character as well. He often acts as an older brother and caretaker to the other characters and a voice of reason in disputes. He will usually place others before him and will help and support his friends even against his better judgment or at his own expense. While he is not shown to battle often, he can understand the situations and strategies in any Pokémon battle, and often explains them to the other characters, probably due to the fact that he was once a Gym Leader. His wisdom is possibly derived from how observant he is; he can tell just by sight how a Pokémon is feeling and spot the differences between the various Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy.

Brock always carries books and maps with him, and thus is usually the character who knows where the group is headed and what they can do when they get there, though in Advanced Generation this role was mostly taken over by the PokéNav. He also carries a lot of other supplies, such as potions, Pokémon food, and a set of cookware, as well as practical tools like a brush and pocket knife; in The School of Hard Knocks, the extent of his preparedness and comically large capacity of his bag was demonstrated, as he pulled out a table and full tea set out of his backpack. He is a domestic, and grooms not only his Pokémon but also those of his friends with whom he travels. He handles all the cooking and cleaning for his friends.

Despite this, all his maturity and rationality leaves him completely at the sight of a beautiful woman, as he falls in love with every pretty girl he meets. Brock has a desperate need for female companionship which grows worse as he fails to gain it. He will do anything and everything he thinks will impress women, which inevitably ends with his heart being broken every time. A few women have shown interest in him as well, such as Wilhelmina, Temacu, Lucy and Holly, but most do not notice him or are not interested. No matter how many times he is disappointed, though, Brock remains determined to find a girl to start a relationship with, and has indicated several times he would stop traveling with Ash and stay with the girl if this happened. This behavior tends to wear on the nerves of other characters, and Misty and Max have both commonly dragged Brock away from women by his ear. Some of Brock's own Pokémon, most notably Croagunk, have attacked him for getting too flirtatious with women.

His goals have played a passive role in his character's activity and development. Unlike other characters, who aspire to achieve and excel in competitive fields like Pokémon training and Pokémon Contests, his aim to become a great Pokémon Breeder is a quiet one and thus does not get showcased frequently. His other goal, to find a girlfriend, is similar to Team Rocket's quest to capture Pikachu in that both are for comedy and thus doomed to fail. His role has always been purely one as support for other main characters.

History:

Not much is known about his early childhood, except that his first Pokémon was his Onix, which he received as a gift at the age of 10. Sometime after, his father, Flint, left home to become a great Trainer. When he never returned, his mother, Lola, left them as well, leaving Brock to take care of his siblings, as well as their house and Pewter Gym, by himself (though the English version of Showdown in Pewter City has Flint claim she died, and some speculate he was lying). However, Flint eventually returned home considering himself a failure, and instead of returning to his family he donned a disguise and sold rocks as souvenirs at the edge of town. After Brock awarded Ash the Boulder Badge, Flint came forward and confessed who he was. Flint took on the responsibilities of the Pewter Gym and his family, leaving Brock free to journey with Ash and Misty.

Brock only became the Gym Leader because he felt it was his responsibility, and he admitted to Ash that he would rather care for Pokémon than battle them. It is his dream to become a great breeder, and when Flint took back control of the Gym, Brock was allowed to start following this dream. Most notably, he took care of a Vulpix that belonged to a breeder named Suzy. Shortly before Vulpix was returned, Brock used it in a Pokémon Beauty Contest.

Brock was also able to meet and make advances towards the many beautiful women he met. At first, he was more casual about approaching women, such as the Officer Jenny in Cerulean City, and more modest as well, such as when he met Melanie. However, he became more open and passionate towards almost all single young women as time progressed.

Brock briefly left the show during the Orange Islands saga to work for Professor Ivy on Valencia Island and so is only seen in a couple of cameos in the second movie. While there, something happened that will probably remain secret as Brock will only huddle and say "that name" whenever he is asked about it. (Brock does mention his work for her in Destiny Deoxys, though this line was added in the dub.) After this incident, Brock returned to Kanto where he was found by Delia Ketchum, who helped him to regain his strength. Brock then became a rival to Mimey until he rejoined Ash and Misty as the three traveled to Johto. They stayed together for the entire region, but at the end of this journey, the three went their separate ways, with Brock's help requested at home by his father.

In The Little Big Horn Brock mentions he participated in Little League Baseball when he was younger.

Upon his return home, Brock was dismayed to find that his mother had returned and commandeered the gym, turning the Rock-type haven into a brightly decorated Water-type den. Brock battled her for the honor of Rock-types and won, promising his brother Forrest that he would become Gym Leader someday.

After that, Brock returned to follow Ash through Hoenn, along with their new friends May and Max, and then through Kanto again as Ash took on the Kanto Battle Frontier. He left briefly when the Advanced Generation series ended in order to visit his home, but quickly returned to travel with Ash and Dawn in Sinnoh. Near the end of the Sinnoh saga, Brock began to show interest in becoming a Pokémon doctor, and so, rather than following Ash to Unova to advise him, decided to remain in Kanto to study.

Since then, Brock has taken up his love of travelling, and his wish to become a breeder. Accompanied by his ever faithful pokemon, Brock has travelled to the new Remar Region, to search for new pokemon of the world.

Name: Adrian du Bronze

Gender: Male

Age: Thirty-one

Type of Character: Archetype; Pokémon Champion Who You See Throughout the Game but Don't Realize is the Champion

Description: Adrian is of average height and stature, with ever-so-slightly-curly blond hair that is short in front but happens to be curled into a long, thin ponytail down the back. Aforementioned ponytail reaches down to his midback, much longer than is absolutely necessary for any variety of person, much less someone in such a position as Champion. But then again, Adrian doesn't seem to hold much stock in fitting the Champion stereotype, oh no he does not. For on that lovely blond head he wears a cowboy hat (oh yes!) with purple ribbon looped around it, the very same type of purple ribbon that has been tied in an almost ascot-like position around his neck.

He wears a brown high-collared jacket whose sleeves rarely go down to their full length, and under that an off-white shirt - that one's sleeves are actually at their full length, but just barely go past the jacket's. There's no pistol in there, really, honest there's not... He carries a brown leather messenger bag to serve as an anchor for his hammerspace pocket, and rarely leaves his shoulder. However, the one thing that doesn't ever go in hammerspace is his Amulet Coin, which he occasionally detaches from its necklace but always has around in case his hands get bored. He is usually seen flipping it or twirling its chain, watching the glinting metal twirl and make amusing whooshing noises.

Moving right along, his pants are held up with a very simple leather belt, but they themselves are rather more interesting; they have clearly seen their share of ripping and tearing, and numerous stitches varying in skill level have been applied. Also, they have zippers running down the sides, but Adrian denies any shared ancestry with shady men who go by the name 'Leon'. His boots - because yes, he wears boots - are not really pointy at all, but rather large and clunky black leather; they have been in use for years, and are considerably more comfortable to Adrian than to everyone else on the planet.TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read): Gambler of Legend (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20071104142316/yugioh/images/9/93/GamblerofLegendGLAS-JP-C.jpg).

TL;DR (Too Lazy; Didn't Research): Cowboy.Personality: Adrian is everything you really don't want in a Champion; lady-chasing but chivalrous, snappy, has a thing for gambling, and just generally the sort of shady card dealer with a dashing figure and who smiles all the freaking time. He's content to wander, and only ever bothers to return to the actual Champion's post to fight Trainers when he really feels like it, which isn't often. More often than not, the challengers are given a vague idea of where he is (because really, they don't know much either) and expected to go hunt him down on his own. Mercifully, the Pokémon Inspection Agency (more informally and accurately known as the Pain In the A**) hasn't gotten on his case for his bad case of Rumpelteazer's... yet.

He is not above making little quips at people or yelling "Ahaha! Would you like some Burn Heal for that?" when a passerby was on the receiving end of someone else's zinger, but also doesn't mind engaging friendly wandering Trainers in casual conversation, regardless of whether or not they're actually going to get anywhere in his eyes. He keeps up a Pokémon trade in his spare time, occasionally having Pokémon to trade with passing Trainers - or even freebie Eggs, if he liked the person enough - that he came across in his Region-wide wanderings.

History: Adrian hails from Arlei Island, a small desert-like island lurking on the very left of the Region map. Most of the towns around there were composed of wandering merchants and people swaggering around with guns. He learned most of his skills by way of picking them up off of other wanderers through town (the wandering bug was not uniquely his, as a considerable number of people on Arlei were Pokémon ranchers who trotted around on Rapidashes and wore dashing hats). Adrian spent his time catching little native Pokémon who lurked around in the dusty underbrush and training them to be pretty decent, and soon enough, he found that not many people could best him on the island. So he went to the mainland and tested his luck there... the rest, as they say, is history. Long, sleazy history, with a dash of romanticism and intrigue and a simply wonderful aftertaste of Indiana Jones.

Skills: Adrian has always had this vague presence in the back of his mind; he feels as if the entire world is closed in, except for one side, which is open, and on the general equivalent of a barbed-wire fence that separates that side, strange things happen. Occasionally he watches them, and from what he learned, sometimes makes quips about them. He has never learned the name of this fence and world beyond, and it is called the Fourth Wall.

Other: Adrian is a Ground-type Trainer. His team is as follows:

Damn, I was keeping the Fourth-Wall breaker archetype to myself, but you beat me to it. Dashing cowboy hunk has been accepted Giratina. Nice job with keeping in character by the way. Most champions are those EXTREMELY COOL PERSON archetypes anyways, so the fact that your character is a gunslinging hero makes him fit right in.

Anyways, we need a few more archetypes filled before we start. Not all of them have to be filled, but a decent amount do, plus we can't start without Gary Oak. We just can't.

Name: William Monoltith

Gender: Male

Age: 32

Type of Character: Archetype: Evil Villain Who Wants To Blow Up The World And Steal Pokemon From Children

Description: William is about six feet and six inches tall and is reasonably bulkily built. He cuts his jet black hair at the bottom of his ears. He doesn’t have a beard but sometimes allows a small moustache to grow before shaving it off. His skin is pale because he rarely spends time outside due to the fact he is usually designing gadgets for his father or his team.

He always wears a black jacket no matter what he is doing. However, he has a different shirt for different jobs: A white one for meetings, a blue one for designing, a grey one for when he is at the headquarters of the evil team etc. As well as a matching tie. He always wears black trousers and shoes which are polished until he can see his face in them. When he is working with members of Team Logres he wears a mask, uses voice alteration technology and takes the name Galahad to protect his identity.

Personality: William is a perfectionist, when he finds his work is 99% correct he will spend the next week finding and correcting the 1% which is wrong. As a child, he got everything he ever wanted without exception. As he got older there was one exception but he doesn’t like to talk about it. Due to this he expects everything in life to go the way he wants and he also doesn’t like failure, the second is added to by his own perfectionism. He also tends to be a tidy and organised person. His desk is polished and all the papers on it are stacked by importance and topic so that he can find what he needs to quickly.

He prefers to work out in the field with his minions when he can but other commitments, such as his work, make this rarer than he’d want. His minions see him as a fair man because he likes to reward success and punish failure, this also helps to keep them working hard as minions with too many failures tend to disappear. He trusts very few people, only one person knows about his double-life, this person is Percival. Percival is his chief admin and is to be put in charge if anything should happen to William (or Galahad).

History: William Monolith is the son of the millionaire owner of Monolith Corporation, Benjamin Monolith. Because of this he was brought up in the family mansion and got everything he needed. He was given a brilliant education and at the age of eighteen was put in charge of a development team in charge of making a new version of Pokédex. The team succeeded and the HANDY-1010 was released in Remar the following year. Seeing his son’s potential, Benjamin put him in charge of a section of the development department which was looking into creating a signature item, such as Silph’s Pokégear or Devon’s Pokénav. It took ten years for the teams to create the finished product but eventually the Poképlayer was created, combining an MP3 player, a map, a radio, a mobile telephone and some information from the Pokédex as well as a range of extra add-ons. The item made record sales and William was promoted to head of development where he was able to look into designs for something a little but different.

He created an underground criminal group which is currently in the business of stealing pokémon. However, this is only the first step in his plan and is only happening to get enough funding to buy and build the things he needs for it.

Skills: Due to his expensive education he has a great knowledge of science especially (anime) physics and chemistry. He is also rather skilled at French but his greatest skill is invention.
