Analysis of a Challenge


(1) Single Battle, 1 Pokémon each.
(2) DQ: Three Days
(3) Damage Caps: 50
(4) Restrictions: - No direct recovery moves. - No OHKOs. This includes Perish Song and Destiny Bond. - Three Chills.
(5) Arena: Indigo Plateau (Grass)
This arena is familiar from the Jeanette vs. Ash fight from the anime (the one where Bellsprout totally owns all of Ash's Pokemon apart from Muk) . The arena has a trimmed grass floor surrounded by an elliptical auditorium. The size of the arena is 100x40 meters.
(6) Ref Style: Open



(1) – This specifies what kind of battle it will be, and how many Pokémon each player will get. Single Battle, 2 Pokémon each is the standard, however options include Double, Triple, Multi, and Rotation.

(2) – This specifies how long a trainer has to post their commands after the referee has posted (if that trainer is to send first), or how long a trainer has to post their commands after their opponent has posted theirs (if that trainer is to send second). The standard DQ length is 3 days. We all have bad days, and might not have time to post our orders, so having a DQ of 24 hours is very uncommon. We also like to keep things moving, so having a DQ of 7 days is a bit excessive and would cause the battle to drag on forever. Try and find a happy medium that suits both battlers.

(3) – This specifies how much damage, at most, can be done to a Pokemon in one round. Using these helps to protect weaker and more naďve members from killer strategies from very experienced members, and also means that you won’t automatically lose from one bad round. Don’t set it too low, though, or the match will be very boring and very long.

(4) – This specifies what restrictions there are on the battlers and their Pokemon. These can be whatever the battlers want, really. A maximum of three chills, no OHKOs, and no Perish Song/Destiny Bond are some pretty standard ones.

(5) - This specifies what arena the members will be battling on. This is perhaps one of the most important aspects of a challenge, as the terrain can have a big impact on the battle. Make sure to be specific when describing your arena, and try to use it to your advantage during the match.

(6) - This specifies what kind of reffing type you'll be using.
OPEN - Any ref can ref your round, at any time.
CLOSED - One ref is in charge of your battle. Only that ref can ref rounds for that battle. The number of days is how long a ref not can post before another ref is welcome to take over your battle. One week is standard.

When your thread is created, use the OPEN/CLOSE prefixes to designate.


What Now?

Once you've posted a challenge, you wait for somebody to accept it. To accept a challenge, simply quote their post and say you're accepting it. Then, the following takes place, depending on your chosen ref style:

OPEN
The individual who accepted the challenge creates a thread for the battle. The first post should have the challenge details in it. They send out their first Pokémon and send their opponent a PM, altering them of the challenge.
The individual who issued the challenge replies to the thread with their first Pokémon and their first round of actions.
The individual who accepted the challenge replies with their first round of actions. You wait for a ref.

CLOSED
Both players wait until a ref creates a thread for the battle. You should be notified via PM or VM.
A ref will choose a battler at random to send their Pokémon first. The next player will send their first Pokémon and moves, ending with the first trainer's orders. If your ref exceeds the DQ limit during the battle, get a new one (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111484)!

That most annoying of Red/Blue dungeons (before the credits, anyway) is now ASB-accessible. The Trainers watch their Pokemon battle from special hovering platforms while, for sentimental reasons, several Zoroark project the illusion of a massive falling meteor. The only types capable of battling up here are Pokemon that can fly or float naturally; moves requiring earth to be used or smash a foe into something cannot be used.

This arena is housed within a mountain fissure. At the center is a blooming sacred tree which is surrounded by a 5 ft deep, 10 ft wide moat. There is a cave entrance for people to enter the area from. At the upper rear of the arena is a sacred orb which feeds the tree sunlight. The arena is a circular 100 ft diameter area with cliff walls. Those who stand in the path of the reflected sunlight are under the effect of Sunny Day unless they move or are knocked out of the reflected sunlight.

Just a simple desert arena. There is a Sandstorm here, so all Pokemon that are not Rock, Ground or Steel Type recieve 6.25 damage at the end of every turn and all of the rest of the things that happen in a Sandstorm. Earthquake deals half as much damage here, as the sand absorbs most of the shock.

An industrial city, completely empty. The residents, if there ever were any, are all gone. Being in the middle of nowhere, some moves cannot be used. Obviously for lack of water the moves Dive, Waterfall and Surf cannot be used. For lack of mountainous areas the move Rock Slide cannot be used. As for certain grass-type moves, the ground is made of concrete. Therefore Ingrain, Frenzy Plant, and Grass Knot do not work. Because the buildings were build so close together, the weather remains calm and neutral. No weather moves may be used. However, because of the close quarters, physical moves have a 5% chance of knocking an enemy Pokemon into a building, causing them to flinch.

I am the purple team and the challenger is the green team. Every time a pokemon steps on a tile, it glows it's teams color until it leaves the space when it turn back to white. But if a pokemon from the opposite team steps on that tile, it can cause something to happen to that pokemon.
Math: At the end of every round a number is rolled for the pokemon on both sides.
Rounds 1-7: 20% Chance of stepping on a "lighted" tile.
Rounds 8-12: 35% Chance of stepping on a "lighted" tile.
Rounds 13+ : 50% Chance of stepping on a "lighted" tile.

If they do step on a tile roll out of 100 to find.

This arena has minute landmasses about 10X10 Feet, surrounded by green salt water. In a tropical jungle with vines hanging down above the water. The water isn't very deep and is clear. Pokemon may go into the water, but be careful, geodudes can't swim. (Just don't send Gulpin into the water. Meaning if your pokemon has fire on it or clearly would be unable to swim, don't send it in the water or it will drown.)

It is wise to only bring a water type Pokemon into this battle or something that can swim, as there is no access to the islands without one thought other types will find themselves at a severe disadvantage. I believe damage cap mean that the damage dealt to that Pokemon can not go past that and I can see your stats in Simmi's stats at the stats section. Yet if you would like to see your Pokemon's moves veekun.com is a pretty good website that I enjoy using.

You know how mimes pretend to be stuck in invisble boxes? Well this isn't pretend. The four Pokemon and trainers are trapped in an invisible box, and others can watch.
Durring each move such as Quick Attack, if the move hits, the attacked Pokemon has a 50% chance to hit the wall, causing a small bit of aditional pain. If the move misses, the attacking Pokemon suffers this possible fate.

Single Battle, 1 Pokemon each
DQ: 2 days
Damage Caps: 99
Restrictions: No moves that can cause more than 99 damage allowed, Endeavor, Perish Song, Chill, and self-KO moves are banned.
Arena: inside an ancient Egyptian Tomb under the old Pyramid. A small chamber with hieroglyph and torch lights everywhere on the wall, coffins and sarcophagus are lying on the ground, and heart-stopper aura around.
