You're lucky! It's a 1 in 8192 chance of finding a shiny, so congrats! =)

Lol. Wow. Amazing. You are so lucky i can't even tell you to have gotten a shiny Patrat at the beggining of your journey. Good luck using it and have fun with it.

I did not realize everyone did not run into shinies often! Wow! I have 3 shinies, one of which took me by surprise! A shiny Tympole the moment I ran into the grass! Anyway, Sarah is just kidding you.

It is actually a .8192 in .0001 chance. (same thing just in a stupid form that would be no help to anybody on the internet).

It's actually 8 in 65536 in the programming.

(SID xor ID) xor (first byte word of personality value xor second byte word of personality value)

Giving a range of 1 to 65,635!
If the value is less than 8 (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7) then it's shiny.

0-7 / 0-65,635

That's technically the most accurate form. :D

Accuracy is great... if you can understand it... Look, I am an animator, not a game programmer...

Which is still 1 in 8192. xD I'm glad they give you pokeballs from the very beginning now though. Now for those people who somehow run into shiny pokemon the very first pokemon can catch them like this. :D

Well I'd say you be luckier if it was anything but a Patrat.

Nope. Something like this hasn't happened to me yet. I wish it did, though! Haven't encountered a shiny (legitimately) in a while. xD
Well, congrats on encountering that Patrat. Hope you enjoy it. ^^

How much of a chance that you actually use Patrat for battling, I wonder.

Zero Is my guess. Tis the sad fate of randomly found shinies. Caught and to the dungeon aka pc they go forever.

Or you get a Modest Shiny Scyther with really bad IV's.

I've only found one legitimate shiny ever! And that was in Pokemon FireRed! The file got deleted though... D:
