Well, just because the main site is down doesn't mean we can't keep up with News on the PokéTCG.

Anyway, Nintendo's finally released info on the Gym Challenge Series. These tournamnets will be somewhat similar to the City Championships and State Championships, except through these tournaments, you can win an invitation and a free trip to the World Championships in DisneyWorld in August!

These events are open to everyone, and will run through all of May and through the first half of June. (The last one is on June 13th, which is one day before the next set comes out.)

More info on the Gym Challenge Series can be found here:

Hope to see you all there.

So this Gym Challenge would have the Gym Leaders from Ruby and Sapphire?

If so, thise Gym Challenge is going to be real cool to play in. The R/S Gym Leaders were pretty good in the games, lets see if the TCG ones are as good.

Negative. Here's what the site says:

Pokémon TCG Gym Challenges are sanctioned, qualifier events open to all players in good standing and are run using the Age Modified Swiss format. The Gym Challenges will be held at local game stores, and other local venues between May 1st 2004 and June 13th 2004. Results of this event will count towards your rankings.

Prizes are awarded to the top 8 finishers in each of the three age groups.

Pokémon TCG Gym Challenge Events are operated by independent Pokémon Organized Play Tournament Organizers.

This is not a prerelease tournament for a new set or anything of the sort. It will be the same format as the City and State championships. This tournament includes a VIP package and an invite to the World Championships (if you win 1st).
