Despite the stormy waters beneath them, neither trainer showed any sign of fear; they kept complete eye-contact as they reached for their respective poké balls. Mawile_rocks released her pokémon first – a giant beast of rock and steel who liked to eat railways for breakfast. The Aggron tapped the glass beneath him cautiously with one steel toe – he didn’t fancy going for a swim today. Moments later, SLC unleashed his chosen warrior. A flash of light heralded the arrival of a powerful water dragon who could create whirlpools by yawning. She studied her opponent carefully but wasn’t afraid of the metal brute. With both combatants in the arena, the battle could commence.

El Maremoto was not impressed that all the water seemed to be outside the box in which she was battling. This irked her so much that she decided that it was time to do something about it. She looked up to the grey and cloudy sky and began to blue a pale blue colour; a smaller rain cloud covered the top of the arena and unleashed its full fury. Rain hammered down on everything – it would only be a short shower but there was no telling what Maremoto was going to do in that time.

Rocky was worried by the onslaught of precipitation and decided that it was time to act. Quickly. He knew that the only thing that could defeat the power of a dragon like SLC’s Kingdra was the power of another dragon; Rocky wasn’t a dragon but he did know a move that could help him. Strange blue fire filled his iron claw as he charged through the falling rain at the opponent. Maremoto didn’t see what hit her; the fiery metal claws left scratches on the Spaniard’s chest and she was left reeling in pain. That had angered her a little – and it is never a good idea to make a dragon angry.

The sea horse felt the rain pounding down on her back and saw a slither of blood running down her chest; she was fuming and Rocky would soon know about it. Water erupted from her mouth and struck the terrible beast in the head. The Aggron stumbled backwards and fell, making his trainer leap out of the way. However, Maremoto hadn’t finished yet; the jet of water continued for another few minutes until the rock-type could hardly stand. Then he staggered to his feet, feeling pretty sorry for himself.

He now had one chance to make sure that the round wasn’t completely lost. Electricity began to build up in the horns on his head as he prepared for his next attack. By his logic, Kingdra were weak to electricity because they were water-types and now he could the rain cloud which loomed above him as a way of targeting his opponent. The strategy was flawless. The electricity defied physics and flew upwards to the cloud from where it was certain to his El Maremoto, who was oblivious to what was about to happen. The lightning bolt fell from the sky and blasted the Spanish seahorse; although it wasn’t as powerful as Rocky thought. Maremoto was a water-type however she was also a dragon-type, which meant that the weakness she had had before was cancelled. This didn’t seem to be a good day for Rocky.

El Maremoto was determined to make the most of the rain while it was still there. For the second time, her anger caused a colossal blast of water to erupt from the long thin snout; it pummelled the Aggron and even caused some dents in his metal armour. The brute was pushed backwards along the slippery floor by the sheer power of the attack – at one point he was sandwiched between the unstoppable force of the water and the unbreakable defence of the force field. Rocky sagged to the glassy floor – there was no way he could take something like that again.

Fortunately, his trainer had devised a plan to help him avoid further harm. The lumbering steel-type began to run through the torrential rain in a circle around his draconic adversary; the monster got faster as he went until, preposterously, all that could be seen was a blur. The blur gradually slowed down but even then something was wrong – there were three Aggron. Maremoto peered at each of them in turn as if looking for a defining feature: there wasn’t one. Neither the trainers nor Kingdra knew which was the real Rocky and until someone could figure it out, it would be more difficult than ever to finish off the pokémon.

The mighty dragon was not disheartened though; she was still eager to get the battle done. Water welled up inside her throat and was soon projected through the air. The storm now seemed to want to have one last moment of glory before its inevitable death – the already torrential rain started to come down like a solid wall, making it impossible to see more than an inch in front of your face. A bestial roar echoed around the arena and Mawile_rocks sunk to her knees; surely the attack had hit Rocky – it was all over. The rain began to ease off again and visibility improved. SLC already had a poké ball ready to recall his champion; he almost dropped it when he saw that the Aggron was still standing. The attack had only managed to wipe out one of the behemoth’s clones. The match certainly wasn’t over yet.

Purple dragon-fire engulfed the steel-type’s claws as his rage began to build up. He needed to throw everything he could at this Kingdra just to stand a chance. Both the real Rocky and his clone charged at El Maremoto from different angles, meeting just before they struck. Their lethal claws pierced the seahorse’s skin while the strange fire burned inside of her, which caused more damage than similar attacks would. The dragon moved away from his assailant. The rain had all but died out now so her attacks wouldn’t be as powerful although that did mean that she wouldn’t tire out as quickly. Rocky was nearly finished by now – it was just a matter of time. The Aggron glared at his opponent; he needed to strike her down fast if he wanted to win. The question was whether or not he could be quick enough.

Maremoto sensed that the battle had come to its final stage. If she moved in the right way then this would be over faster than you can say “antidisestablishmentarianism.” She scrutinised each of the Aggron who stood before her; the fact that there was two of them was the only thing between her and victory – if she hit the right one then it was all over. In the meantime, the water beneath the glass began to surge upwards as if being pulled by some strange source of gravity. It seeped through the force field and formed a puddle beneath the Kingdra who summoned it. Once she felt that enough water had been summoned, the water dragon rose up above her aching opponent(s). Rocky watched her rise – he could only hope that she would go for the wrong version of him, he might stand a chance if she did. However, the Kingdra spotted something wrong with one of the Aggron; the one to her left had flickered slightly because of a momentary lapse of concentration. The battle would end soon.

Maremoto looked down on Rocky; he didn’t stand a chance now. The wave surged forward at the beast of rock and metal who stood transfixed due to fear. It hit the monster like a truck and blasted him up against the force-field, testing its power to the very limit. Water went everywhere, including over both trainers although they were already soaked by now. The wave receded and Rocky slumped to the floor. The last attack had been too much for him to take; the rock eating beast was finished.

The victorious dragon looked down at her fallen foe. He had fought well but his efforts had not been enough – he had still been defeated. Proof once again that you should never mess with dragon-fire unless you want to get burned.
