View Full Version : Elbub vs. MadHairGirl (OPEN) -- Elbub wins.

MadHairGirl

Single Battle, 1 Pokémon each.
DQ: Three Days
Damage Caps: 50
Restrictions: No direct recovery moves, no OHKOs (incl. perish song and destiny bond), no chills.
Arena: The Grass Field
You step out of the shady line of trees that encompass this lush green pasture, taking in the scents, the colour and the odd dirt patches that filter the medium sized area. It looks as if this field is frequently used for battles, the scars implemented in the solid ground. Regarding battles, the open area contains little in the way of protection from attacks in the landscape or objects that could be implemented in attacks, such as boulders.
Ref Style: Open

I'm gonna send out Fable!

[Fable] Nidoran (M)
Ability: Poison Point
Signature Move: n/a

Hmm. Then I shall go with -

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/92.png
[Terror] Gastly (F)
Ability: Levitate
Signature Move: None

Terror, start with a Hypnosis to give the advantage straight to us. If this is successful, use Psychic to get the damage flowing. If it isn't successful, instead use Confuse Ray.

Hypnosis ~ Psychic/Confuse Ray

Ok let's see how this goes...

Fable, attempt to dodge that Hypnosis! Close your eyes, run into a bush or turn around! Something! If you manage to avoid the attack, try a Double Kick. Failing that, use Peck.

Dodge ~ Double Kick/Peck

"Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t!" ...

I rushed in to the battlefield, literally, ashamed that I was reporting in late. I was new to this job, and boy did I have to keep up. But it was unusual though, why would they send me to a battle which houses a very important person? Wouldn't it be better if this was received by one of those upper refs? But heck. They were lazy. Being the new one here, I was pushed around. I couldn't afford to waste any more time. The audience were already in their places quite a far from the arena, and the two Trainers were already there.

"Oh crap"

I thought to myself, as I took my first few steps into the middle of the arena. Looks like their Pokemon were already out of their respective Pokeballs as well. A Gastly that was levitating by Elbub, and a Nidoran, the male species was scratching its ear on the other, by MadHairGirl. This battle would certainly be interesting.

BEGIN!!

Gastly was the first to move here, and it started circling around Nidoran, in an attempt to throw it off its feet. Gastly's ghastly eyes began to glow red in color as rays poured out and was signaled directly at the small critter. However, following his Trainer's command, Nidoran (M) tried ways to dodge the move, but the signal wave was homed. It followed everywhere it went. Gastly had good control of its move. Didn't take long before the signal wave hit Nidoran, causing it to sleep.

Energy -3

Gastly was smiling away, as it watched the helpless Nidoran snoring. It quickly took charge of this moment, and started building up its next attack. But it wasn't a physical one. Perhaps Elbub was aware of Nidoran's Ability. Well spotted, young one.Gastly's eyes glowed light blue this time and Nidoran's body was soaked in light blue. It then damaged the opponent using its mind. You could see the pain inflicted through Nidoran's expression. It was like as if it had a bad dream, but in reality, it was losing a good chunk of its health. However, Gastly lost a good portion of its Energy in return as well.

-21 Damage ; -26 Energy

The referee was astounded.

"Wow, that Gastly is something. Having different glow of colors to its eyes. What lens is it wearing?

Nidoran, couldn't wake up this action. It was deep in sleep.

Fable, if you can wake up, use Focus Energy although if Terror uses a status related attack, use Peck. Then follow up with Double Kick.

Round Two

Terror looked at her snoozing opponent with an expression of suitable satisfaction. Fable had probably been unhappy when he realized he would be unable to defend himself due to his comatose sleep; however the helpless Nidoran would have been even more fearful - or at least, so surmised Terror - if he had known what was coming to him.

Terror began to draw in all her energy for this move, knowing how agonizing it would be just as she knew how helpful it would be to her fight. The miasma of purple gas around her began to swirl as though stirred by a wind, turning black with some sort of mysterious and evil power. She drew the gas inward, whimpering with pain as the energy burned into her own body. She focused on the pain, however, and imbued the cloud with it. She then released the gas in one huge burst. It surrounded Fable and soaked into his sleeping body, making him writhe and squeal for a few moments before stopping fitfully. Terror, despite the pain her body felt, smirked in triumph at the creature's pain.
[Curse: Fable, + CRS @50%; Terror, -50% HP, -13% Energy]

Fable twitched a final time, then suddenly his red eyes shot open. He scrabbled to his short feet, lowering his ears as he wondered what had transpired. He looked at Terror in a mix of fear and suspicion. He was fairly certain what the slight ache in his body and slowness to his limbs meant: he had been Cursed. He then knew what his attack was to be; he lowered his horn and lunged at Terror through the flowers.

Terror was relatively unafraid; she was damaged but she wasn't decrepit. The way the little thing's horn glowed as it leaped at her didn't bother her at all - or at least until Fable kicked his hindlegs up so that he was flying through the air. Terror yelped in surprise as the Nidoran's horn savaged her face right between her giant eyes - wounding her in a weak spot. She turned to glare in fury at the Nidoran as it skidded to a stop, looking smug about its critical hit.
[Peck: Fable, -6% Energy; Terror, -16% HP]

However, Terror knew that in seconds all her wounds would do was help her. She smiled at Fable sickeningly, then her body began to glow as if it was overheating. She released a glowing white beam from her jaws that lanced through Fable and hung behind him as an orb of energy. The orb began to glow with the sensation of the battlers' wounds, then suddenly it divided into two beams and one side flew into either Pokemon. Fable shrieked in surprise as he felt his body light with agony; meanwhile, Terror smirked as she felt healing made of Fable's energy come into her own body.
[Pain Split: Fable, -22% HP; Terror, +23% HP, -9% Energy]

Fable growled at Terror in a display of anger; then he rushed forward to express his anger in a slightly different way. His hind feet glowing white, he ran at Terror yet again, squealing a war cry. The Nidoran stopped in front of the floating Gastly, pivoted, and kicked his hindfeet at the ghost-type. The attack hit Terror with the force of twin feet; she spiraled backwards through open space, feeling bruised. She had the last laugh, however, as she watched Fable wince with the pain of Terror's Curse.
[Double Kick: Fable, -8% Energy; Terror, -12% HP]

1) That Counter was indeed sick. Poor Metagross.

2) In ASB as of... a while ago, Fighting is 1x effective against Ghost, so Double Kick does indeed deal damage. This is seen in the Type Matchup sheet found in your Compendium.

66%? I've seen 90% damage done in one round before. That's what you get when you don't have damage caps...

And why can Fighting hit Ghost now? I'm intrigued.

Onwards, anyway.

SPAM Shadow Ball, and we should be out of here in no time at all.

Shadow Ball ~ Shadow Ball

Round Three

Fable watched his foe warily. Terror looked battered, but not as badly as Fable felt. He knew his opponent had to have some sort of nasty trick up her proverbial sleeve, something to cause the Nidoran even more pain than what he was already in.

However, at this point Terror had grown bored of tormenting her foe and was now simply about to end his misery. She opened her big jaws wide, revealing gleaming fangs. Inside her mouth, purplish darkness began to gather in a hazy ball. The sphere swelled, pulsing with an ethereal glow, and Terror pointed her mouth at Fable. The Nidoran swallowed nervously as he realized that he saw a smile tugging at the corners of Terror's stretched lips.

With a whoosh, the ball of darkness flew forward, leaving purple trails as it went. Fable attempted to leap to his left, but Terror had pinpoint accuracy and the Nidoran's tired limbs were just too slow. The Shadow Ball hit Fable full force, exploding in a burning dark fog and leaving Fable's mind reeling, his nerves screeching.
[Shadow Ball: Fable, -18% HP; Terror, -11% Energy; Dodge (FAILED): Fable, -3% Energy]

Terror was relentless, and Fable's failed sidestep had been an exertion despite said failure. The Gastly opened her mouth wide yet again, and again darkness swirled in purple pulsing vortexes to form a single sphere. That sphere shot from Terror's wide red maw with the same whoosh as before. But this time, Fable didn't resist as the ball of darkness burned away the last of his endurance. The Shadow Ball came to him as a form of release; as the shadows washed over his body, his vision also blackened. He was unconscious, his body resting in an attempt to restore the vitality it had lost. The referee lifted her hand and declared Elbub and Terror the victors of this skirmish.
