Illusion.

It is what makes reality ever more subjective to those without the sense to deter what is real from what is not. Few have the power to make these illusions in subtle ways simply for entertainment. Years ago, some would of called it magic or sorcery, but that would be calling it incorrectly. By those who can understand what the true nature of illusions are, can fully take control of it and manipulate truth, for that is just as subjective to reality.

Many centuries ago, the origin of what is now a myth took place. During one evening after the hours of dusk, there came to be a dividing ideal between a Zoroark pack. One part of the pack believed they should use their illusion powers whenever necessary in order to keep themselves from danger and conflict, and only to maintain distance between humans to remain hidden. The other side of the pack believed they should use their illusionary prowess to overcome the other species and maintain their legacy through great acts that would be carved into history. The pack could never settle on a compromise, thus a deceitful battle began. Both using their natural abilities to manipulate reality, each side of the Zoroark pack tried to outdo the other using tactics that reflected their respective views. The battles grew so intense that all other outside parties began to become victims of the illusions. Everyone started to believe something different, everyone started to understand something that differed from another’s. Soon enough, the pack themselves began to become disorientated in their own war, and were unable to discern reality from what they had created.

Amidst the confounded perceptions came a small group of humans, thinking of the world as some kind of alternate dimension. Travellers who had not been able to stay in one place long and learn of a single place being not what was or what is. They saw the confusion and took a few of the Illusion foxes out of the fray. From which side of the original conflict, or if from both, no one was sure, only that these were the first few Zoroark who had been out of their own illusion in a long time. Looking upon these humans and their Pokémon companions, the Zoroark gave upon them the ability to manipulate parts of an illusion in order to see the truth.

The damage of the illusion onslaught was never truly repaired that day, as illusion still runs in the world with the wind. Knowing this, the original travelers who earned the right of Zoroark knowledge to manipulate these illusions, passed down their skills to other generations, be it by their children or non-blood relatives. Those who were able to know this knowledge were chosen by Zorua and Zoroark, either by showing up just for a moment in front of the person, or by the monster foxes taking said person to their own home. There was always a Zorua or Zoroark to teach the rarely selected human and Pokémon about the ways of illusion.

In the modern day, these special folk still linger around, often distant from society. No one knows about these people, and anyone who ever gets an idea is usually deterred without them even being aware of it. This however, does not bode well for the original beliefs of one line of Zoroark. This line, directly descending from the pack that wished their powers to be known, and some humans also follow the same ideals. These humans, be it because they were wrongfully taken away from their families, or simply for the power or revenge, the reasons are endless. There are those who wish only for their secret to remain a secret in order to maintain their own peace. Some have decided to try and return to a normal life, leaving the shadowed life of the illusion masters behind. Some who try to investigate into the myth draw closer into a conflict that soon may erupt out of proportion once again.

Those who are trained by the Zorua and Zoroark know themselves as Alternates, Alter’s or Alt’s for short. These people know how to manipulate the illusion connected to one perceptive sense, be it sight, sound, feel or even taste. These illusions work well on common people with a mind that is not completely focused. It is harder to create an effective illusion around other Alt’s, and Alt’s can sense when another illusion is being used. Illusions are not always a sure fire thing to work on those with a strong mind, as they may be able to see through it. All Alt’s in general have the ability to disappear from sight rather quickly and easily when no one is really looking. No this is not invisibility, think more like a ninja.

-The story will start out taking place in Unova-

Envoy:
These Alt’s and following Illusion Foxes believe their power to be able to manipulate the perceived truth should be known and they should make use of it in the real world. These people may be out for redemption of having lost their family if they were taken by a Zoroark. Some may be out for power, be it in a minor or grand scale. They wish to make themselves known.

Veil:
These Alt’s wish their identity as Alternate’s remain a secret along with their abilities and society. This may be out of fear or knowing that their powers may be abused for unruly gain. Some may do it for the memory of why Alternate’s exist; in order to repair illusion from the world and set it back as it should be.

Shade:
Impartial to either side of the oncoming conflict, these people keep their abilities a secret and wish to have a normal life away from the Alternate society. This may be from wanting to be free or wishing to return back to their previous life. Shade Alt’s are often seen as abandoners of their art, despite that they don’t go out of their way to abuse it or never use it again.
Rules:
The usual PE2K RP rules apply.
Romance is allowed, keep it within a PG thing for the younger ones.
No legendaries, but shinies and recolours allowed, minor altered Pokémon allowed.
Have fun or else I will shank some people.

Shade of Sound
Castiella City

Busy city streets...constant meaningless chattering...easily unseen...yeah, it was the typical city.

Sitting on top of one of the highest buildings in Catiella city had it's perks, no pun intended. No one bothered you up here, no one could. It was just me, Sonja and Shorai. I reflected back on these two, looking at each of then respectively as I thought about them. Shorai, the big shiny Galvantula next to me, crawling on some metal antennae, nibbling on it to get at the electricity it was hooked up to. It was the same way I found him in that attic. Sonja was flying around in circles and loops like the happy go lucky Swoobat she was. Shorai found her bother some and gave her a good shock when we met.

Myself, I wasn't anyone important, just someone with an ability for not sticking out. Hell you could call it invisible. When you were invisible, you could do a lot of things. In my personal prefference, I really only did things if I had to or was for my benefit. That's just how it was with me, as no one ever bothered with me unless it was for their benefit. Yeah I sw the world as a dark and conflicting place, but as long as I was free, I didn't care much for it.

I looked up at the sky, noticing the greyness of the clouds grow darker with each passing moment. In my mind I could hear thunder, but that was only because I wanted to be hearing it. It was only slightly raining a most, but no doubt within the next ten minutes it would start to pour.

Rain...dreary yet comforting. It was the one thing I loved besides my freedom I guess. The more I thought about the rain, the more I imagined the thunder rolling in my head, and soon enough, I could hear it outside. No, there wasn't any lightning, just me, making thunder. Being a sound Alternate, to me, was better than all the other senses. visual may of been a good thing to be able to tamper with every so often, but when people couldn't see, they relied on hearing. The dark gave peope enough paranoia to rely on what they heard for their own safety. Call me cold, but it sounds almost fun to mess with that.

I stood up on the ledge, feeling the wind start to pick up. I figured that if it was going to rain, I may as well of walked with it. I looked over the edge of the building, finding no one around to see me on the one side. Without a thought I leapt over the side, my scarf frantically fluttering upwards. I held one hand on my head to prevent my hat from going anywhere, as I liked my fedora quite a bit. As I free fell a bit in calm, I looked up to Sonja, who was following me. About half way down, she used Psychic to catch me, slowing my descent. She ut me on a fire escape in a crowded alleyway that didn't have anyone around, thunder still bellowing overhead.

My thunder.

I started to walk down the old metal stairs, moving with my natural cool haste and landing on the concrete with a soft thud once I was close enough to the ground. I saw Shorai climbing on the walls just above me, making the occsional jump between buildings. Sonja just hovered near my head, adjutsing my scarf accordingly. I replaced my shades back on my face and started walking. It wasn't to anywhere in particular, I just liked walking.

Something though, was at the back of my head...something seemed to be coming, and I had a good feeling I wasn't going to like it.

Aki Shibayama and Haru Aozora
Veil of Touch and Non-Alt
Castelia City

Aki heard all the people in the Pokemon Center jump and shift at the sound of all the thunder, yet she didn't move an inch. She couldn't see anything more than her flip-flops, as the Pokemon Center had a "No shoes, no shirt, no service" kind of policy and she didn't want to make a big scene about using her psychic power to "see" and since it only really worked with her bare feet... She had allowed Musei to lead her to a free seat gently. It was only with her shoes on that you could tell Aki was blind without her telling you, and even then, she was still a pretty good actor. Her sightless eyes seemed to stare resolutely forward and her head twitched as she adjusted it to catch sounds and makes sense of the world around her. She was acutely aware of Vashuka around her legs drawing attention, but the Liepard herself didn't appreciate it, hissing at anyone who came near enough to Aki for her to deem it "too" close. Her lips twitched faintly upwards each time it happened and she heard Vashuka growl and the surprised reaction everyone seemed to produce. Musei seemed to find it amusing as well, his soft laughs filled her mind with a melodious sound Aki thought she would never stop loving, Elegance was doing the same, except Aki kept getting vibrations from her own muted laughter and rocking that showed her the Gothorita thought it was hysterical. And then she met the young man who seemed to show no fear.

She heard Vashuka growl, but no responding sound that said the approacher had backed away. "Excuse me, Miss, but your Liepard...would it be shiny?" An upbeat-sounding male voice asked her. Aki answered out of sheer surprise the not only had he not bothered to react to her growling Liepard, but he also had the guts to ignore Vashuka enough to as her a question. Her head tilted up slightly to suggest she was looking up at him.

"Vashuka? No. Her coloring is odd, but it's not because she's shiny, it because she was the subject of a genetic experimentation before I got her. Shinies are supposed to be a different color. No sure what color, but not mostly black like Vashuka." She said, just before another clap of thunder exploded and scared most of those in the Pokemon Center half to death, including the male in front of her. Once again, she didn't move in the slightest, except to smile.

"How did that not scare the crap out of you?" The male demanded to know, Aki kept a very Cheshire catlike grin.

"It just doesn't bother me." She replied plainly. she didn't know him, and she couldn't "see" him. /Musei.../ Aki called telepathically to her Gallade, who seemed to understand well enough.

/His surface thoughts show nothing suspicious, I believe I can safely say he means you no harm, he was just curious about Vashuka and the way you don't react to the thunder./ Musei replied back quickly, Aki smiled.

/Thanks, Musei./

/It's my job to keep you safe, Aki. don't mention it. And you're staring over his--/

"Is there a reason you're blatantly staring over my head, Miss?" He sounded somewhat annoyed, Aki blinked and curse her bad luck.

"You got a problem with it? Can't help I can't see." She snapped sharply, and she got the impression in her mind of Musei facepalming while Elegance rocked with laughter beside her again.

/Very tactful, Aki./ Musei groaned, and she turned her head to him.

/You know I despise tact, Musei. Too flowerdy for me./ She grumbled back. Musei shook his head even as the boy sputtered in the background.

"I-I-I-I...I'm so sorry! That was out of hand for me to say, I didn't realize... Agh... Sorry again, I... My name is Haru Aozora." He said quickly, and Aki heard a whoosh as something flew through the air and stopped abruptly.

"If you offering your hand for me to shake," She spoke dryly and sounded rather annoyed before she waved her hand before her sightless eyes in reminder. "I repeat, can't see." This caused more sputtering and apologies upon more screwups, to which Aki shook her head and corrected with less and less patience. This was much to Musei's mounting interest and amusement, which Aki didn't find funny either. Today would be a long day...and aside from that, she caught the distinct feeling something big was going to happen soon.

Michelle Toya
Veil of Vision
Nimbasa

It's too loud here... Michelle thought bitterly, glancing at the many people milling around her. Their surface thoughts blared like many radios cranked on max and playing all at once, but she fought to tune them out.

/Then why did we come, Miche?/ Michelle's eyes cut to the Gardevoir who floated elegantly next to her. The question was not meant to be anything other than that--a simple question, not rude but curious.

"Because I feel Mother or Little Sister might call on us soon. I swear it seems like the air is supercharged with expectation--and not the good kind, Cam..." Michelle murmured softly, glancing around. she wished that she could totally tune the world out, but their thoughts would not be shut out by the girl who who hear all of them. The girl who could see their desires, their dreams, their dirty little secrets... "People." Michelle spat the word sharply, there were far too many in this city whose feelings and dreams and such disgusted her, but she shook her head and took it. /So many disgust me./ She confided in Camellia, the Gardevoir smiled sympathetically and wrapped her arms around Michelle's small shoulders and allowed herself to be dragged along as she hugged her trainer.

/True... So many wish to know what people are thinking, yet the gift is not nearly as great as it may seem./ Cam said pointedly.

"No joke." Michelle muttered, and kept walking through the turbulent seas of people and of people's thoughts that surrounded her.

OOC: To clarify, Miche is the telepathic one, but Musei stays almost constantly halfway in Aki's mind for easy communication, therefore she can talk telepathically with him. While Elegance might do it from time to time as well, she cannot do this with her other, non-Psychic pokemon.

Stella Marino
Shade of Vision
Castelia City

"Oh how wonderful," Stella said quietly as thunder started overhead. The clouds had already been dreary and dark, with a slight rain drifiting down, but there had been no thunder until very recently. The young woman peeked out from underneath her black umbrella to scan the sky, looking for lightning. Oddly enough, she didn't see any. "It must be quite far off. How unfortunate." She said, and the people nearest to her glanced at her in confusion. She seemed to be talking to herself.

Such was not the case, however. Stella felt a sudden drop in temperature and heard the raindrops clink on the sidewalk as they turned to ice. Something that felt like silk brushed her cheek. "I think on such a downpour like this, people should get to see a show, Lola," she went on casually. Her Mismagius was there, she knew, but Lola preferred to stay invisible most of the time and was only detecable through the chill she sent through the air.

"Miisssss..." Stella heard very faintly, like a sign on the wind. Her smile grew wider, although there was nothing happy or charming about it. "I thought you would agree. Let's see what I can do." She looked back up at the sky and frowned a little. No flashes of light were anywhere, just the thunder. She had to time it just right. As soon as she heard the rumble of thunder, she sent out the illusion. A fork of lightning flashed in the distance as soon as the thunder rumbled. People next to her began to murmur to themselves.

"Wow, did you see that?"

"I hope that didn't hit the tower..."

"Looks like some storm is approaching."

Stella just managed to hold down the gleeful laughter that bubbled in her chest. It was so much fun messing with people, just like a game. She knew Lola was laughing as well, the chilly cloud around her intensified.

"Man, it's cold around here."

Thr girl released a giggle and quickly silenced herself. She didn't want people to see her and making a sound would break the delicate spell she had over them. She wasn't tricking people in believing she was invisible, but she wanted them to glance over her as if she wasn't very important. It was working quite well, actually. It was harder to maintain such an illusion in a crowded city like this. Another flash of lightning appeared on the horizon, two silmutaneous this time. The thunder was louder than before. Stella wished that she could bring them closer, but she needed to be in time with the thunder since she could only trick people's eyes, not their ears. "Lola," she murmured very quietly, twirling her umbrella. "Do you ever feel as if something big is about to happen? Something you're not going to like?" Where did that come from? She thought to herself, her fine brows dipping in puzzlement. Something had been off with today. Now she was starting to feel it even more; deep inside her was warning her of something.

Lola hissed at her and Stella felt another carress on her cheek. Stella was not a telepath, but ghosts had their own way of sending impressions into people without using words. You too? the hiss of surprise seemed to say. She knew her friend was shocked that her intuition was so acute, since pokemon had a way of sensing things that their trainer did not.

"So I'm not crazy or paranoid." The girl murmured, her silver eyes softening. "That's always a good sign." With another smile she made a burst of lightning appear directly overhead and screw reality. Coincidently however, a particularly loud clap of thunder blasted the air and the sidewalk gasped and some screamed. Stella laughed at her luck and slipped through the mass of people as if there was nothing to be afraid of. There wasn't really, it was all in their heads.

Keitaro Kimura
Non-Alt
Castelia City

:Did you hear that last bit of thunder?: Tsubaki asked as she pulled her trainer insistently towards the Pokemon Center. She deiberately avoided the word "see," since she knew it would prompt a dry "Well I can't see" remark from Keitaro. :I pity whatever tree or building that lightning bolt hit. It was enormous! You should not be outside during a storm like this.: The front doors slid open and the duo entered the Pokemon Center, which was rapidly becoming crowded from all of the other refugees. Tsubaki slipped her hand into her Keitaro's so they would not become separated.

The blind man smiled a gentle smile and adjusted his glasses, which were close to falling off. He didn't need them to see, since he was blind, but people noticed his eyes quicker that way. :Knowing you, you would just direct the lightning somewhere else.: He answered, following her footsteps towards what he assumed was a chair. Usually crowds did not bother him, but dozens of people crammed into a tiny space like this could be bothersome.

The Gardevoir sniffed and managed to find an empty chair, pointedly ignoring the growls from the Leipard a few seats away. Some people should honestly control their pokemon better. :And why should I do that and waste my energy when we could just stay here and be safe? Besides, you'll catch a cold in the rain.: She knew Keitaro did not need help sitting down so she claimed the chair right next to him.

The man smiled and leaned back in his new seat, interlacing his fingers and resting his chinon them. His head tilted towards his friend, the presence in his mind giving him the direction that she was in. :Rain doesn't make you sick, viruses and bacteria do,: he replied with a slight smirk, gently teasing his companion.

He did not need to see to know that Tsubaki was narrowing her eyes at him. The telepathic link she constantly kept open to him filtered her emotions through. :Regardless, it threatens your health to be stuck in the rain and lightning.:

Keitaro laughed good naturedly. :Yes, it does.: He agreed, knowing it would please her. He heard someone apologizing profusedly, although he could only hear snatches of the conversation over the many others going on throughout the room. He tugged his scarf on tighter, and uneasy feeling giving him the sudden chills.

Rai and Sora Hayabusa
Envoys of Taste and Smell
Nimbasa City

"So step right up and--"

"--let us amaze you!"

"Acrobatics--"

"--light shows--"

"--tricks--"

"--wonders--"

"--things that defying the senses and--"

"--trick them. All right here!"

It was hard not to notice the twins, and not just because they were constantly changing the speaker. Rai was standing on his hands while his twin brother Sora was standing on top of him, the soles of their shoes fitting each other perfectly. People gasped at the balance the twins had and many were expecting them to fall, but when you had the synchronization that the twins had it was hard to mess up. Around them were balls of lightning and colored beams shooting around playfully, catching attention from far off. The effects were from Rai's Jolteon, Blitz, and Sora's Mime Jr., ironically named after his brother. Blitz would shoot lightning from his fur and Rai would wave his hands and manipulate them to do tricks.

"Care for a snack? A dollar each." Sora said, waving his hand at the assortment of fruits and candy laid out on the blanket in front of them.

"Why are you selling food when this is an acrobat show?" A boy asked, putting a dollar in the cash register that was suspiciously open. Just because you were a Ditto didn't mean that your transformations were limited to pokemon.

"We did not say it was just acrobats," Rai said with a winning smile. His voice was slightly deeper than his twins, which was the only way to tell them apart besides their clothes.

"Even though it was implied." Sora finished for him. "Try the food, you'll be shocked."

The boy just shrugged and picked out an apple. He bit it and then paused. "It tastes like chocolate," he said in amazement, causing the people around him to turn their gaze to the ordinary looking apple.

"All part of the show," Rai told him. "We can make it taste like anything you want."

Clearly their customer didn't believe him. "Alright then, change the flavor. Oranges." He said, giving them a challenging stare.

The only thing Rai did was smile. "Fine, taste it again." He watched as his command was obeyed and the shocked youth stood with an apple in his hand that tasted like oranges. At least, he believed it tasted like oranges. It was much easier to fool someone when they believed the illusion was true. Money started flowing in as the crowd bought food to see what mysterious tastes it would behold, and Rai had to concentrate to make each different. He didn't mind to much, it was strengthening his skill, but it felt like the mental equivilant of juggling.

:Problems, dear brother?: Sora asked, grinning wickedly.

:You wish,: Rai shot back. :I don't know why I have to be bottom this time. Being on top makes it so much easier to concentrate.:

Sora's laughter filled his head. :That statement could be taken in an interesting way,: he replied, letting his brother see exactly where his thoughts were taking him.

:Oh shutup,: Rai snapped, his face paling and nearly losing his balance. He gave his twin a quick mental smack (no one seemed to notice Sora flinch and hold his head) and went back to his illusion. "More buyers?" He asked as a few more people gathered around. "We even take requests."

((Hmm, something seems off about Rai and Sora's intro to me....It was typed quickly cause there's a storm just outside and I didn't want to blow out my comp again.))

I kept walking until I hit the North Road, stopping to look at passersby. Sonja followed just over my head, making sure my favorite hat didn’t get too wet from the rain. I started walking with the flow of people to avoid being noticed too much. Being unnoticed was something I liked. It seemed to me everyone was heading to the Pokémon Centre for shelter, thanks to my thunder. IT was interesting seeing how people reacted to the elements, especially ones that didn’t really exist. I kept looking down at the ground as I walked for the most part, noticing my shadow darken suddenly.

I turned and looked at the sky. I waited for a second, and suddenly saw a flash of lightning. I knew it couldn’t have been real, because thunder came after it in perfect unison. It would be overtaking my thunder. Also, the lightning wasn’t quite perfectly in sync with my thunder, so, I could safely say it was another Alt playing with my thunder. Hell if they wanted to, sure, add to the storm. It wasn’t my business and it wasn’t like they knew my thunder was real or not. Everyone else who seemed to be scattering like frightened Ratatta though wouldn’t of been able to notice, they weren’t immersed or trained in illusions.

That’s when something started to bug me. I noticed the rain, and it looked wet and felt wet, but something wasn’t right about it. I just had one of those feelings. I put my fingers to my hat, wondering if it felt wet at all while underneath my loving Swoobat. Amazingly, it didn’t, despite the fact a few drops at least should have made it to the fabric. Sonja sensed me tense up, and I asked her to move away from my head. I replaced my hand back on my hat when she did, and suddenly, it felt damp.

“Again.”

Sonja moved over my head once again, and my hat, once again, felt perfectly dry.

“Theres a Touch Alt out there… and a visual Alt.”

Why were they starting a storm? The clouds may have been real, but if anyone was purposely making it rain, that seemed fishy to me. Real fishy. My thoughts caused a giant thundering crash to deviate from the sky. My illusions had a habit of following however I was feeling. Right now I was feeling offset. Now, I had to go find what was up, since that feeling of something big happening still hadn’t gone away. If this storm was the start of it, seeing as if I killed it before it could become something, then I could go back to having a normal life…well, as normal as an illusion bending human being could. I decided to make my way to the Pokémon Centre, seeing as I might find a clue there.

Normally I didn’t give a damn what the world outside did, as long as it didn’t bother me. This time though, it was bothering me, so I planned on doing something about it.

I walked into the Pokémon Centre; my sense of Alt’s started up. It wasn’t so much a psychic sense; it was more a trained sense, like a sixth one. Alt’s knew the presence of others because we had a deviated perception, which allowed us to easily manipulate the perception of others because any normal person’s was very much concrete, for lack of a better term. Ours were more unstable; therefore, we could sense each other in a small way. You couldn’t really tell what another was good at unless they were performing an illusion and you were very aware of it. The other Alt’s would be able to sense me more easily since I was creating imaginary thunder, and maybe figure out I was a Sound Alt.

As I walked in, I could sense other alt’s amongst the large crowd, giving me some relief as if any Alt’s did sense me, I’d be damn hard to spot. I looked around the room, trying to see if anyone in there was possibly making any visual disturbances. Seeing touch alterations was harder unless you could see micro expressions. Other than that, it was rather hard. Sound was one of the harder ones to sense alterations to because everyone made a lot of noise, there was always noise. If you listened hard enough though you could tell. Taste was almost impossible to detect, smell not so much but the two seemed to go hand in hand. That just made things damn confusing sometimes though.

No one was messing with visual senses, so I went to turn and leave when I saw something outside that gave me an idea as to what was going on.

Outside, some people were running in all directions, some ran indoors, and what they were running from, was a wild rampaging Seismitoad, with a pack of smaller Palpitoad followers. Everyone was either watching from the inside or fleeing on the outside, and I, for one, was just outside the doors, nearly being trampled to death.

‘If any other Alt around doesn’t see that’s a cheap illusion, then quality is seriously slipping…’

First thing was first though, get Shorai and Sonja and pretend to fight off a bunch of fake Palpitoad and Seismitoad.

Mammon
Envoy of Touch
Nimbasa City

He didn't even understand why he came here in the first place. It was the same as it was when he left it- heaven for the tourists and the rich, hell for the poor. The people gathered around the two of his fellow alts didn't see, no, couldn't see what was going on around the back. The alleys of Nimbasa were famous for their deceptive crime syndicates. The mayor of the city has ignored them as long as they aren't noticeable to the leisure-loving tourists; Nimbasa was beautiful on the outside, but the inside was full of rot. Sooner or later, it will probably cause a gigantic mess when the stench of the corruption finally reach the public... Not that it was his problem, of course.

Mammon was currently in a line to ride the ferris wheel that Nimbasa was so famous for. Of course, he wasn't going to spend money on such a stupid thing when he knew they were obviously ripping him off; the price wasn't a cent lower than what he would've priced it, but still, it didn't change the fact it was a completely ridiculous pricing. Add that to the extremely weak security (he was wearing a pitch-black robe and a hood that covered his eyes, yet no guard was saying 'doesn't this guy look suspicious?'), and you could bet some people were going to have a problem with paying.

"Could you pay, sir? People behind you are complaining..." The woman working there muttered quietly at him. He had to consider where he was; he had to make it a little discreet, or he would create a commotion. (A little voice in his head told him walking in without paying probably would cause a commotion by itself, but he ignored it)

"Er, sir..." The employee whispered urgently. Suddenly, the security guards started groaning about a headache, and stepped out of the way. Without saying anything, Mammon brushed by them and walked in. He was about to enjoy a little private time with only his thoughts as company- until a little boy rushed inside the ferris wheel with him.

"Whew! Thanks for letting me go in with you, sir!" I never allowed you to go with me, an irritated voice said in his head. The boy continued, not knowing what was going on behind the hood.

"It was, like, my life dream to go on this ferris wheel! But this ride costs about the same as our daily meal combined, so I kinda had trouble," he said excitedly. "But thanks to you, I can finally see what the city looks like from this high! It's amazing, isn't it? Is it your first time here? I can give you a tour around the city, if you want!" Mammon smiled, his first in a while.

"No, I'm not new to this city. Would you please tell me about your family?" Mammon asked calmly.

"Oh..." The boy seemed to deflate visibly at his negative response. However, he grew energetic again, ready to talk about his family.

"My mom died when I was three, so I don't know much about her. I still have Dad and my big sis though, so I don't miss her that much. Well, actually, my dad's almost always gone so it's mostly me and my sister. She used to work at the restaurant there-" he pointed at the flashy, not-very-tasty diner- "but she's been getting weird coughs these days so she's taking a break now. I just gather junk when she's away and try to see if there's anything valuable. Oh, would you like to take a look, sir? I've found this cool rock a few days ago," he offered the shady assassin. "It looks like it could be useful." He brought out a round, obsidian rock that looked anything but useful.

"I'd like to buy that. Would this amount of money do?" He pulled out about thirty fresh bills and put them in front of him. The boy's eyes widened with shock.

"W-was it really that valuable? It's the first time I've gotten something worth anything! Ar-are you really sure about this?"

"Positive," Mammon assured him, "and make sure to get your sister to a doctor. The money should be enough to cover you both while she recovers." You're going to have to starve a few meals to make up for that much money, greed, the voice said again. The boy stared at him with gleaming eyes.

"Looks like the ferris wheel's over. Let's get out of here," he gestured towards the door, holding the stone. As the security tried to catch them leaving, they mysteriously suffered another bout of headache that forced them to step aside. Mammon and the boy walked out casually.

"Sir... You're a really nice person! I hope we meet again, sir!" The boy waved, then ran towards the opposite side. As he watched him go, the voice droned on again. I thought you weren't going to? Not until... You know... He frowned, wondering just why he did that. Eventually, he thought back to the voice.

Today was just an exception...

The storm clouds were real, but I could not feel the rain which fell down, not even moving the water in my glass nor adding to it. Not even the thunder and lightning felt real, although several non-Alternates scurried about, fleeing from this artificial downpour. Of all the people to trick, one with a sixth sense is incredibly hard to fool. My memory alone could determine fact from fiction.

To trick the senses of sight, touch, and sound... there are several Alts out there using these gifts now... I muttured in my mind, the Eevee on my lap shaking lightly. I gently placed my hand against her head, stroking her fur in long, gentle motions.

"It's okay, Shannon. Nothing will hurt you here." I gently reassured. I remembered her fear of the rain, the same day I caught her. Next to us, my Audino sat on another chair, eyes closed and swaying gently with the sound of the man singing under the bridge. Even I had to admit, the acoustics of the sound, coupled with the verious other people playing their instruments, was quite a nice tone against the artificial weather.

"Aren't you going inside, sir? You'll catch your death out here if you stay too long." Somebody asked me, breaking me from my pleasant trance.

"I'll be fine, thanks. I've been through much worse than this." I replied, delicately implanting the thought that I was nobody important aming his. Manipulating the direct senses was easy compared to my skill. The power to alter thoughts, change the mind of many, such talents were dangerous, which is why I took a personal oath to keep from abusing it.

"Suit yourself." He spoke, walking off in a hurry. Smiling gently, I leaned back slightly, the hood of my coat shifting downward as I took solace in the comforting sounds around me, trying futilely to slowly shake an unnerving emotion in my body. As much as the sixth sense was a gift, it was also a curse. Even a new Alternate knew something was coming, but I could tell, it was not good.

"We'll continue moving tomorrow." I lazily spoke, hiding my nerves. "Tonight, all we need do is relax and wait until the storm passes, until we can see that silver lining."

Yes, as much as the clouds were real, the rest were fake.

EDIT: Yeah, sorry, no RP text because I'm on my 3DS and my sister is literally screaming(fangirl-style) about going to the pool and everyone keeps running up and poking at my feet/legs and telling me to go change.

Aki Shibayama and Haru Aozora
Veil of Touch and Non-Alt
Castelia City

Aki had begun to tune out Haru's profuse apologies, mainly because her attention was being drawn somewhere...else by instinct. Unknown to her, as Rizu walked into the Pokemon Center, her eyes flickered to the spot where the alt had stood before leaving of their own sightless accord. She was beginning to feel the many alt forces suddenly working in the city, one of which had to be a sound alt--she'd discerned that much from the thunder. There was something that just sounded...off about it. And then there was suddenly lightning, she realized, as more people began to talk about it. The Pokemon Center became flooded with people, all talking about the thunder and lightning that Aki knew to be illusions created by other alternates, whose power she could feel around her, yet not particularly locate beyond the fact they were in Castelia.

"...Hey, are you okay? Miss? Yoohoo, over here..." Aki's head snapped in Haru's direction moodily.

"What?" She asked in exasperation, sightless eyes imitating a perfect glare. She heard Haru step back.

"Okay...that's creepy..." She heard him mumble under his breath before he continued on. "I asked your name." Aki wanted to run away, he was forcing answers from her, it felt. She didn't like personal questions, in fact she hated them and tried to avoid them as much as possible. However, she was saved by the result of a rather odd distraction. Suddenly it sounded like a stampede in the room, people were far more worried all of a sudden, and it had nothing to do with thunder or lightning or rain.

"Somebody stop that Seismitoad!" She heard, yet she didn't feel the rocking of the ground she should have felt through her sandals. Seismitoad were not small pokemon, and the way everyone was reacting to it--it sounded as though it was supposed to be on a rampage. There were more alts on the loose.

"Musei, give me an impression." Aki ordered calmly. Within a moment her Gallade pulled her into his mind, allowing his trainer to see the Pokemon Center in chaos. The ground trembled under his feet, and she could see not only a Seismitoad, but multiple Palpitoad with it. Her alt senses told her it was all an illusion--one that needed to be dealt with quickly.

/Newer alts? I can tell you find it easy to disprove./ Musei asked, Aki shrugged.

"Maybe." She said, kicking off her flip flops almost casually. She would need to see both her way and Musei's way to deal with this, as per usual with any kind of visual illusion. "Hey Elegance, watch those for me, will you?" She requested, and "saw" the Gothorita hop off the bench they had been sitting on. "Ah, it's nice to be free." She mumbled before concentrating hard on the pack of people in front of her, imagining that they would simply feel a slight push that would move the people out of the way as she passed, but as she moved to start for the door, someone grabbed her arm. At the same time she did, Musei turned his head, giving her her first real look at Haru Aozora--Athletic. Blond Hair. Blue eyes. Classic jock-everybody-loves type. She thought, attempting to jerk her arm away. "Hey, hands off!" She snapped, performing her perfect sightless glare once more.

"No, you might not be able to see, but I can--it's dangerous out there." He said, ignoring Vashuka's yowling protests that her trainer be released. Suddenly, his wrist was gripped by a smaller, oddly-shaped pale green one.

/The danger level in here from your grabbing my trainer is greater than what she would face out there./ Musei's threat ripped across both Aki's mind and apparently Haru's, as his eyes widened to the size of saucers, yet he was now to scared to move.

"Oh spare me--I know. I'm blind, not deaf. I can hear everything, and everyone else might be afraid, but I'm not. My team is not to be messed with lightly, as they have quite the resolve to prevent me from coming to harm. I will be fine. Now, let. Me. Go." She growled. As though it were the magic words to a trick, Haru's hand released her arm, and Musei released his wrist.

"Fine, but I'm going with you. I want to do something as well!" Dangit, dangit, dangit!

"Look, stay inside like a good little boy and watch the show, why don't you?" The bitingly sarcastic remark slipped out of Aki's mouth easily, but Haru was not budging.

"I'm going, sorry." Aki's lips twitched towards a snarl before they seemed to change their mind and form a smirk.

"Fine then--see if you can keep up." She turned and started pushing and running, causing more chaos around the two as Aki slipped through the crowd and outside easily, leaving Haru stuck far behind.

Michelle Toya
Veil of Vision
Nimbasa

Michelle looked up as she passed a pair of twins performing a street act, and she was subtly alerted to something...else. She got the feeling she was around alts, causing her to stop. After observing the show from a distance and seeing the frenzy the twins seemed to be driving up over food with "odd tastes" and she began to catch thought-voices that sounded exactly like the boys above the frenzied thoughts of the spectators. One of the two--if not both--was a taste alt. Then the thought became more distinct, and she nearly died laughing out loud as she stumbled in on an easily misinterpreted comment made by one of the boys. She wasn't the only one to get it, either, the other pointed it out--much to displeasure of the one it was pointed out to. Apparently the one on the bottom was the taste alt, but what interested Michelle more than the fact they were alts was the fact they were using human-to-human, direct telepathy, which utterly astounded her. Her telepathy refused to be narrowed down or "turned off" enough for her to live a happy life, and these boys who could communicate with each other. She quickly squashed the hope of learning how to tone it down to almost nonexistance, not on her own, and she only had Cam to really teach her, and it was natural instinct for Ralts and it's evolutions to be able to control their abilities, so Cam couldn't really explain anyway. Amused, she made her way through the crowd to the front, drawing out a dollar and dropping it in the cash register set out near the assortment of foods the strange twins had set out. "Interesting sidejob you have here..." The words were barely there and she wondered if the performers could hear her, though wondered how they would react if they did.

Her odd, almond-shaped green eyes scanned the assortment and picked up a chocolate bar. "Could you add a mint taste to this?" She asked politely. She doubted highly that the illusion would work on her as it would the other non-alt humans, but was worth trying. They were creative, she'd give them that. Cam still hung from her shoulders lightly, but lifted an arm to prod her as her trainer unwrapped the bar.

/May I try some?/ Cam asked, Michelle nodded.

"'Course, Cam." She responded, taking a bite and bracing herself.

OOC: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, moody Aki comes out! XD And Miche is amused.

Stella Marino
Shade of Vision
Castelia City

"You know it's not quite as fun out when there are hardly any people around." Stella remarked, sweeping her pale eyes over the streets. Most of the pedestrians had taken shelter inside and only a few were running around. Great, now she couldn't hide in the crowds anymore. She was still keeping up her lightning, but it was only half-hearted now. Not to mention something was off about everything. She could sense Alts around her and now she had a pretty good idea why she felt so uneasy.

Lola's cold aura prodded her lightly, jerking her back to reality. "You're a ghost, Lola," the trainer said suddenly. "I know you can feel them too. Ghost and Psychic pokemon have a good sixth sense, and that's why they notice us more." She felt rather than saw her pokemon nod. "I think we might have to face them soon. Something is obviously up." She sighed and looked down at her boots, scuffing the sidewalk. And then she frowned.

That's odd. She thought and lifted her foot up. She had to have sloshed through twenty puddles so far and yet her boots didn't seem to be wet at all. She ran her finger along the bottom of her shoe. It was dry. "Oh that's clever," she said, smiling wickedly. "Very clever. And excellently done, I applaud their efforts." Lola hissed next to her, obviously missing whatever her trainer had discovered. "Watch," Stella said and stuck her hand out from underneath her umbrella. The rain drenched it, but Stella could feel it rolling off her skin rather than soaking into it; now that she was aware of the illusion it felt all too fake. When she brought her hand back under the umbrella it was dry.

Lola hissed again and Stella smiled at her. "See now? Although I wonder why an Alt, or two rather, would go through so much trouble just to make it rain." She looked up at her lightning and the thunder that followed. Now that she thought about it, that wasn't right either. She could hear thunder, but she couldn't feel it. Thunder made her insides rumble, but this thunder did not. She gave an ironic laugh. "It seems nothing about this storm is actually real," she commented.

"Hey girl, watch out!!" Someone shouted at her, pointing behind her.

Stella really did not care for what the man was pointing at, and she turned out of reflex more than anything else. Behind her people were running from what appeared to be a Seismitoad leading a stampede of Palpitoad down the streets. Appeared was the keyword here, because Stella took one look at the pokemon and knew they were fake. You can't fool a visual Alt with a visual illusion, idiots. She thought and stepped aside, letting the illusions run right past her. The ground was't even trembling beneath their feet, as it should have been with that many pokemon. "Shabby," was all she had to say.

However normal people could not see the truth, and they were screaming and running from something that was entirely in their heads. Stella enjoyed chaos, but not on this scale. "Lola," she said, her tone hardening. Immediately the Mismagius was next to her, casting off the invisibilty. "Fire a Shadow Ball at them. I don't care which one you hit."

"Miisss," Lola hissed and the red gems on her body started to glow. The nearest shadows started to stretch towards the witchy pokemon to form a dark ball that grew and grew until energy crackled along its surface. With a cry Lola let the attack loose, and it ripped through the air and actually blasted raindrops out of the way as it went by. None of the Palpitoad looked behind them, so the ball would smash into them unnoticed.

Keitaro Kimura
Non Alt
Castelia City

:Is something wrong?: Keitaro asked, feeling Tsubaki's mood changing. He knew when something had her on edge and he knew to trust her instincts.

:Something's not right,: she asnwered, her thoughts dark and somber. :These people aren't right. Some of them are giving off an odd aura.:

:Like what?: Keitaro prompted, tilting his head to one side. Faint snatches of conversation came to him, and it sounded as if people were getting nervous. He heard higher voices and words started to fly from people's lips.

:I woudn't say dangerous,: Tsubaki said slowly, choosing her words with care. :But different. Definitely different.:

All at once there were yells and voices of panic. Keitaro heard footsteps shuffle as people started to run. "Somebody stop that Seismitoad!" An unknown face yelled.

In an instant the blind trainer was on his feet. "What?" He asked, looking to Tsubaki for answers. He knew she would tell him what she was seeing.

The Gardevoir frowned and pulled her trainer near the front. :There's a pack of Palpitoad stampeding down the streets, being lead by a Seismitoad,: she reported, tightening her hand around her trainer's. :There's something different about them too.:

Already Keitaro was running his hand around his belt. He could not see his pokeballs, but he could feel them. Each had a pattern of scratches on it so he could tell them apart. He unclipped a pokeball that had a ╪ pattern scratched onto it. "Let's go and take care of them," he said.

Before he could move though, he felt someone brush by him, but the their progress was halted. "Hey, hands off!" he heard a woman's voice yell.

"No, you might not be able to see, but I can--it's dangerous out there." A male voice answered her.

For one crazy moment Keitaro thought that the man was referring to him, but he felt Tsubaki shake her head. "Oh spare me," the girl snarled. "I know. I'm blind, not deaf. I can hear everything, and everyone else might be afraid, but I'm not. My team is not to be messed with lightly, as they have quite the resolve to prevent me from coming to harm. I will be fine. Now, let. Me. Go." Seconds later she rushed past them and a blast of cold air indicated the doors being thrown open.

Another blind trainer? What a coincidence. Keitaro thought with a wide smile. It was comforting to know that you weren't the only black sheep among trainers. He started to push past the people in front of him and felt the doors silde open automatically, a small relief so he didn't have to find the door.

:Don't you go running off like that!: He heard Tsubaki yell and then she was beside him again, her arm around his. :I get if you want to fight but at least let me be in front of you first.:

"Yes mother," he replied and threw the pokeball. "Princess, come out!" He ordered as the pokeball opened and spat out a jet of light. A Castform materialized and seconds later it switched to its Rain Form. "Tsubaki, what's happening?" he asked again.

:Someone from down the street has fired a Shadow Ball at the Palpitoad,: the Gardevoir replied.

Rai and Sora Hayabusa
Envoys of Taste and Smell
Nimbasa City

:Well this--:

:--is interesting.: Rai finished for his brother. He looked up (or was it down?) at the newcomer. His finely tuned sixth sense was coming into play and it was telling him that something was off. And when you grow up in a family filled with illusionists, you can identify them rather easily. :Do you feel that?: he asked Sora.

A metal snort answered him. :Of course I do, I'm not that blind.: The twin on top tilted his head so he could see the girl better. He grinned widely, wondering what game she was playing at.

Rai chuckled in a low voice. "Of course I could," he replied in a quiet voice, a stage whisper meant to carry only so far. "But whether or not it works on you is a different matter." He suddenly wanted to try his skills on another Alt, since testing on Sora was no fun.

:I heard that,: Sora said.

He ignored his brother for the moment and focused, his hands clenching against the ground as he did. It might not work, since the girl knew what to expect, but you never knew. Besides, he had a day to kill, so what the heck. Mint, he thought to himself, remembering the sharp taste on his tongue and projecting that sensation onto the girl as she tasted her chocolate.

I don't remember dozing off, but I do remember being woken up by Shannon as for the first time tonight, actual lightning sounded not far off in the distance. Shannon, once on my lap, was now hiding inside my jacket, trembling in fear. Frowning slightly, I gently fished her out from it and cradled her in one arm, the other reaching for her pokeball.

"Do you want to go back in your ball?" I asked, watching her nod frantically as another bolt touched the ground far off. Nodding, I held the ball up to her, the familiar red beam sending her back inside before it minimized again to be placed on my belt. Before I could relax, though, a group of villagers seemed to rush past me.

"Hey, what's going on?" I called out, catching the attention of one quickly.

"There are raging pokemon in Castelia! We're going to patrol the village for any here until this storm blows over." The young man spoke, the same that originally asked me to get out of the artificial rain. That little nugget of information hit the right nerve, my face void of any kindness, but locked in a serious gaze. I felt as though something was wrong, and now, sitting at the far edges of Unova, even I knew it was time for action.

"Do you have any flying pokemon?" I asked, receiving his nod, almost as if he read my mind.

"You can borrow my Unfezant, Rufus, but be sure to return him." He spoke, handing me a Premier Ball, his bird pokemon held inside.

"Thanks." I called as he left. Turning to my Audino, holding the Egg I had been nurturing for six months now, I smiled as I called out the flying pokemon. "Victor, can you explain the situation?" I asked, before he replied in kind in their own language. After what must have seemed like an eternity to my growing-restless self, the bird nodded at both of us.

"Perfect. Take us to Castelia City, please." I half-asked as the bird took off, allowing me time to return Victor to his pokeball and place the Egg in a well-padded section of my bag, feeling the warmth coming from inside, a surefire signal that it would hatch soon. Closing my bag, I ran forward and leapt off the bridge as Rufus made a return sweep, catching me as I carefully adjusted my position on his back, taking to the skies at the fastest speed he could muster.

"Well, Rufus, I'm sorry to ask you to do this, but I have to get to the bottom of this." I apologized, shouting over the winds. "It looks like the storm we've been avoiding is finally here."

"Huh, you're different from what I've read." A shady man in the alleys spoke casually, his arms crossed. Mammon instinctively threw out his Sharpedo and was ready to bite him apart, when the stranger muttered, "No need to get so worked up. I'm just here as, how'd I say it, an envoy, after all." Mammon's brows furrowed (not that anyone could have seen it, of course).

"Who sent you?" Mammon's question was direct and to the point. The man grinned, somewhat unpleasantly.

"Does it really matter? My employer would like to have a deal with you. He can pay far more than what you've obtained from your petty assassinations and kidnappings." Money? The guy really knew him. Well, he would do any job, as long as the price was right...

"What job? And how much?" As always, short and to the point. The man gave the same, irritating grin for the second time.

"For your first question, a simple kidnapping of one of your fellow alternates," Mammon flinched; just how much did the man know? "And for the second, this much." To demonstrate, he showed him the briefcase he had beside him, then opened it up.

"My employer will give you this amount right now, as a proof of our deal, regardless of your success. If you succeed, he'll give you twice this money. Well then, do we have a deal, my young greed incarnate?"

"Yes." The man grinned, perhaps the most distasteful of all.

"Oh, I suppose I never gave you the name of your target. Her name is... Michelle Toya."

ARPer's: Anyone around the Palpitoad/Seismitoad illusion

I looked around for Shorai, wondering if she was near the illusions going on for who knew that reason. Oh, and yes, I know I've called her a he before, but she is a serious tomboy, and sometimes I forget she's really a girl. Anyway, the Palpitoad and one Seismitoad were really causing a mess, and few people were outside. As I watched them, it seemed that they were trying to make the people go inside. Maybe I was over thinking things but once someone wasn't out in the 'rain', they looked for someone else.

'Whoever is setting this up has to be able to see from somewhere...and it had to be high up.'

I looked around, trying to keep track of the Pokemon causing mayhem hile Sonja acted like they were real. I could see Shorai up on one of the skyscraper windows, pointing in a specific direction. My Galvantula had been trained with me in detecting illusionists, as the electricl nerve patterns were more...dramatic for lack of a better term. She had a feeling of which direction, and I knew only to follow her. I looked a Sonja and called her back into her Pokeball, and as I did, I saw a Shadow Ball attack go sailing past her and into one of the Palpitoad, sending it into an alley way, and out of sight.

'Who the hell was that?'

I turned and saw a girl in typical gothic garb not too far off, also outside trying to fight off the blue amphibians. I ignored her for now, though sensed a bit of deviated perception from her. Maybe it was another Alt, but I knew one thing, and that she wasn't my problem. Actually, this whole thing with the fake Pokemon attack wasn't my problem but again, if it was the thing I've been bugged about, kick it in the ass before it gets up.

"The hell WATCH where you're attacking." I yelled over to the stranger, using my sound illusions to mask it from anyone else. "You can't let ordinary people see them all randomly disappear! Watch it dammit."

I pulled out a Dusk Ball and threw it out, and with a shimmering and deathly roar, a shiny Hydriegon came out. He looked at me respectfully, something I had a damn hard time earning. I jumped on his back and held onto his neck. He looked at the illusionary Pokemon, knowing very well they were fake.

"Follow Shorai, Zhen." I said, pointing to where the shiny Galvantula was.

Zhen roared, swiping at a few more Palpitoad with his tail, and clearly gaining a lot of attention. The Seismitoad was now locked onto us, and I wondered if the illusionist responsible knew we were looking for them, or was just pissed off we were screwing up his show. Hell if they waned to follow, they sure as hell could. Keeping illusions away from real eyes that was something to do. I wanted to keep my freedom and not be pryed about my powers.

The only one I didn't want following right now, were any human beings. Socialness was not my forte and I was never one for the corrupt ways of society.

Been there, done that thanks.

Aki told her Gallade who nodded, knowing she'd catch it while she pulled out another pokeball, one with a domed shield sticker on it. "In the meantime, Colossus you have fun and play fight." She told the enormous Golurk as he popped out of his pokeball. Immediately, Colossus moved to follow Vashuka's example of pretending to fight off the Palpitoad among the other pokemon as Musei sent Aki's questions to the minds she had indicated as belonging to alts.

/My name is Musei Ichi and my trainer is the young brown-haired woman by the Gallade--me. She is a touch alternate and believes you are alternates as well. She is curious--is there a visual alt here and is there a plan?/ Musei asked calmly as Haru came onto the scene.

"Hey, was there a reason you had for leav--"

"Aki Shibayama. My name is Aki Shibayama. Now, will you please either shut up and help, or go away and stop bugging me?" Aki asked, obviously annoyed.

"...Fine. Melina, Snow, go help." Haru said simply. Aki ground her teeth in frustration.

Miche's eyes cut to the twin that had spoken to her as she bit in. The familiar taste of chocolate filled her mouth, with a very faint, almost watered-down undertone of something else. It took her a moment to recognize the faint taste to be that of the requested mint, and smiled slightly "I know that. I'm just curious like you...it was almost watered down and it took a moment to recognize the taste, but it was there. Mint." She murmured smugly, a hint of almost excitement in her tone. She then offered the bar to her Gardevoir, who reacted much more strongly. "Interesting...I wonder if anything I tried would work on you? Not that I'd do it without your permission, of course." She never spoke loud enough for anyone else to hear but the twins, curiosity lighting her green eyes.

She wondered faintly if they would catch on to her telepathy as well, but didn't push the question, in case it scared them away. She was much too intrigued about everything else about them. She didn't want to scare them off now.

Lightning flashed overhead, followed by an almighty crack of thunder that would have shaken the ground had it been real. Two pairs of eyes, one pair amber, the other pair blue, watched in amusement from high up in a nearby tree as everyone scattered, running for any safe place they could.

But one wasn't safe, no matter where she was.

Shinichi had a fix on that irregular aura, she was his target. It did not matter she was young. It did not matter she was obviously scared to death because he was slowly removing the alt girl's ability to hear and see. Rolland had told him to go get her, and so he was going to get her and make sure he didn't screw up. Lillie clung to him like he was piggybacking her, chin resting on his shoulder with an expression mixed between sad and incredibly interested. One hand reached up absently to run her fingers gently through Shi's hair, never even pausing as another flash and explosive boom filled the skies. The girl stood alone now, unmoving as her world went soundless and empty. Her head snapped around, trying to figure out what was happening. She was a touch alt, none of this was a problem for him. No one came out for her--she was a Shade, too scared to reveal herself to the world even to save herself. No one would notice him or her as a heavy rain bottomed out on the city(or so it appeared), leaving Shinichi with Lillie attached to his back free to hop out of his seat in the tree and walk away at a leisurely pace.

Looking down at the girl, Shinichi felt a slight pang. She was probably no older than thirteen, with sun-browned skin, but carrot orange hair and vibrant blue eyes that flickered around nervously, sightlessly, under Shinichi's illusions. Another success. Rolland would be pleased. Lillie made a sound of comfort and pushed herself up enough on Shi's back so that she could pat the girl's head gently in sympathy.

OOC: Wow...Shi really does sound like and unfeeling jerk...

Stella smiled as Lola's Shadow Ball took out some of the Palpitoad, but it vanished when she saw one of the trainers turn toward her. She looked at the girl and immediately sensed it, that gut feeling that told her that this was another Alt. Actually, she could feel more than one in the immediate area. However they were not vision Alts, she knew what to look for and the one facing her was not one.

"The hell WATCH where you're attacking!" Stella heard her yell. There was something odd about the yell, it seemed very close around her and wasn't echoing off in the distance as it should have been. A sound Alt then. "You can't let ordinary people see them all randomly disappear! Watch it dammit."

Lola hissed loudly and Stella curled her lips. Who the hell did she think she was?! The unknown girl turned away from her (causing Stella's rage to flare) and unleashed a shiny Hydriegon, and she climbed on its back and started heading for a shiny Galvantula. Stella's hand went to her belt and she unclipped a green Friend Ball from her belt. "Lazarus, come out." She ordered in a voice so cold that would have turned the rain to snow, if it were real. In a flash of smoke, a Hauntar appeared in front of her. "Lazarus, I want you to follow that Trainer," Stella said, pointing at the retreating Hydriegon. "Try not to be seen, but if you are noticed and attacked, then I give you permission to attack back." Her smile crept back onto her face, but it was cruel and cold.

The Hauntar laughed in delight and vanished instantly, presumably going off after the trainer as he was ordered. "Well, you get the deal, Lola." Stella said, stepping closer to the illusions that were still hanging around. "You may as well pretend to fight them. Thunderbolt."

As the Mismagius prepared her attack, Stella suddenly heard voices in her head. :My name is Musei Ichi and my trainer is the young brown-haired woman by the Gallade--me. She is a touch alternate and believes you are alternates as well. She is curious--is there a visual alt here and is there a plan?: She whipped her head around and saw the Gallade and the girl that was described. Well at least these people existed, so she wans't crazy. However Stella could not have replied telepathically even if she wanted to, so she simply sighed and crossed the street. She heard Lola hiss in alarm and seconds later the pokemon was floating at her side again.

The girl's pale eyes swept over the group. Yes, there was the touch Alt (barefoot too, how odd,) her blond companion (or were they companions? The Alt seemed rather annoyed at him) and a black-haired person with a Gardevoir and a Castform near him (and why were his eyes closed?) She tilted her head to one side and looked up at the Gallade fearlessly. "You asked for a visual Alt?" she said quietly. "Here I am."

"Excuse me," the black haired man with the Gardevoir spoke up. His voice was a lot like hers: quiet, but it carried over the group. "But would you mind explaining what Alternates are? I'm afraid we're a little lost here." The Gardevoir next to him nodded and gave them all a suspicious look, signaling that she clearly did not trust them.

:Ah, I'm better than I thought,: Rai thought when he heard the girl explaining that she could faintly taste mint.

:You know that could also be taken differently.: Sora piped up, clearly wanting to be in some sort of conversation.

:Lucky you,: Rai replied, rolling his eyes. Then he sent him a wordless idea. Sora rolled his eyes and backflipped off of his twin, causing gaspes from all around as he went through two of the electrical hoops before landing on his feet. Rai flipped back onto his own feet and waved at the crowd, smiling in his most charming manner. "Thank you for your contributions, ladies and gentlemen. I'm afraid that will be all for now--" there were groans of disappointment.

"--however in two hours we will be-- Sora interjected.

"--repeating our show over in the Fairgrounds." Rai finished and watched as a few people were already walking away. He turned back to the lady, clearly showing his back to the people in case some people wanted a picture or autographs. "Well you could try it, if you wanted to," he said, letting his almost hypnotic eyes touch hers. "After all, you let me try my powers on you."

Meanwhile Sora was rapping his knuckles on the cash register. "Hey Nomad, cough up the dough," he said and the money immediately started pouring out of the cash register. When all of it rested in the twin's pocket the machine instantly morphed into a Ditto. :Uh, Rai? You sure that's a good idea?: He asked as the pink blob crawled up his arm.

:Of course. It's just a little harmelss fun.: He sensed his brother's growing unease and sighed. :If she tries to do anything then you can attack her.: He reached down to pet Blitz, who was rubbing against his pant leg. " Try it, see what you get," he said with a smile.

A blood-chilling roar greeted my ears upon my arrival to the skies above Castelia City. Looking around, it was hard to see in the more secluded alleyways, the already dark clouds and night making an Umbreon somewhere here very, very happy. Finally, I saw the rampaging group of Palpitoad and Seismitoad. However, something about them seemed off. Of course, I've only seen rare few Papitoads in my travels, but these ones seemed like creations.

My mind suddenly broke its train of thought as Rufus swept low to avoid crashing into a shiny Hydreigon, then arcing to maneuver around the form of a huge Golurk. I never thought they could get that big. Angling upwards again, I began strategizing my attack plan.

Let's see... I mused to myself. Palpitoad and Seismitoad are both Water and Ground type, so Daniel would use up too much energy battling them. Sarah's no good either, Electricity has no effect on ground... Suddenly, my mind found the solution. Pulling out a Quick Ball from my belt, Rufus began to lower the altitude.

"Michael, you're up! Let's start with Sunny Day!" I shouted, the pokeball unleashing a shiny Furret. Michael scurried up to my left shoulder before shooting a small orb into the sky, which suddenly began to expand and brighten, creating a strong artificial sunlight. In one swift motion, I moved my bag, the Zorua egg still inside, to my front and, once Rufus had shifted altitude and speed, hopped off, rolling on the landing, Michael running along my leg and leaping up as I caught myself upon exiting the roll.

"Now! Solarbeam!" I ordered as some of the false sunlight waned temporarily, its energy sparking along the Furret's fur before a large, almost blinding beam of concentrated light managed to blast through two of the Palpitoad and barely missed the Golurk. Sighing, I quickly checked the Egg in my bag and, finding no cracks or other signs of damage or that it was hatching, re-closed the bag and stood, firmly setting it back in its original position on my back, Michael, slightly dazed from the sudden burst of energy, once again rested my shoulder as Rufus landed next to me. Turning, I quickly returned him to the Premier Ball he had been placed in and pulled out a Heal Ball, tossing it out as Victor again emerged.

"Victor, use your Secret Power!" I spoke as he quickly stepped forward. Closing his eyes, the Audino created a shimmering rosy aura around his form before charging and tackling one of the Palpitoads, paralyzing it.

"Good, now swap out! Michael, Quick Attack!" I shouted as the Furret, having had enough time to rest, quickly moved onward and began to strike the pokemon at almost invisible speed. Moving around, I smiled as I saw the Palpitoad disappear. So they ARE illusions. I mused, before my serious glare reappeared.

"Come on back, Michael!" I ordered as he quickly ran back to his favored place on my shoulder. Looking around, I finally managed to notice the trainers near me, one with a Gallade and another a Gardevoir. I could sense the one with a Gardevoir was no Alternate, yet he must have heard something.

"Look out!" I yelled, shoving the Trainer with the Gallade away before promptly receiving a Thunderbolt attack meant apparently for her. Falling to the ground and spasming uncontrollably, Victor turned and used his Refresh move on my form, helping me to recover from the shock. Standing back up, I looked over in the direction I saw the attack originally come from, but nobody appeared to be there any more.

"Damn, that was real. Something's definitely up here." I mused aloud to myself before turning to the girl I just shoved down.

"Sorry about that. My name's Joseph. Never thought I'd meet another Alternate for a while." I introduced, holding out my right hand carefully and looking into her green eyes, as though into an emerald mist.

As Shorai looked as bad ass as she usually did, jumping between buildings nimbly and wish such ease as Zhen and I followed her. I was watching around the roof carefully, making sure we weren't being lead into an ambush. I noticed Zhen flex muscles in his neck, turing to look behind us. I looked as well, noticing that there was only a Palpitoad and Seismitoad following us now. The others back around the Centre must have taken care of the rest--

My name is Musei Ichi and my trainer is the young brown-haired woman by the Gallade--me. She is a touch alternate and believes you are alternates as well. She is curious--is there a visual alt here and is there a plan?

It took me a second to realize that someone was using a Gallade Pokemon, well an Alt was using one to talk to the rest of us. Great, now I had attention. That's the last thing I wanted. I could hear Zhen growl, feeling my mild aggitation.

"The plan is making sure the illusions are taken care of." I thought back rather blandly, thinking that was clearly the most obvious thing to be taken care of. I sent an audio illusion back there just in case as well. "You keep to your own thing and I'm keeping to mine, don't bother me."

With that I focused on following Shorai again. Whoever this guy was, he was sure a hell ways away. I saw Zhen turn his head around again, knowing he sensed something. I turned to look again, finding nothing was there but just because I couldn't see it, doesn't mean I couldn't hear--

Something came out at me and outright tackled me off of Zhen. I felt fur and claws around my waist and could feel myself falling. Zhen roared and I knew shorai heard that as well. I tried pushing whatever had a hold of me off of me before I struck concrete with a flat back. Then suddenly I felt a dramatic change in direction, now going across rather than down. I looked at what was going on, seeing that Shorai had grabbed onto what was a...a Zoroark? That's definitely what it was but it looked like some war torn old fox. I saw it let go of me with one arm, and I took my chance to hit it. It let go.

'Thud'

At least that drop now was ten feet on the concrete, but it was more or less on my shoulder and Arceus is hurt like a bastard and a half. I got up, holding onto my shoulder as the Zoroark took a place across from me, with Shorai just in frnt of me, defensively wary of the fox's next move. That's when I looked up for Zhen. As I did, something yellow and purple jumped down next to the Zoroark; a shiny Alakazam.

Okay...this was getting weird...

The Seismitoad was there too, the illusion one. Why were they defending it, that Alakazam clearly knew I had known what it was. Zhen was pissed off, and fired a Tri Attack at the damn amphibian. The Seismitod responded by using Scald and intercepting the attack in a huge mass of steam.

Wait...if it could do that...then that Seismitoad was real...

I knew the one before was a mere illusion byt now I had a real Seismitoad in front of me, and it was a problem. Shorai and Zhen, I could hear, were preoccupied and before I could pull another Pokemon out for a fair triple. I heard that old Zoroark coming for me. I moved quickly, avoiding a tackle and still, remined in the steam. I would stick to my hearing for this.

Every few seconds, without an constant pattern this Zoroark tried to grab me or take a flying leap at my head. Why he was, I wasn't sure, why everything else was going on, I also wasn't sure.

I still have a bad feeling about all of this...

Looking at the scene before me, I nodded to the shiny Arcanine standing next to me, pulling out two Premium Balls and throwing them forward, unleashing two Lucario, one shiny, one regular, as they both looked toward me. Wordlessly, I pointed at a Zoroark going after another Trainer, receiving a nod from them as they charged at it together.

"Lucas, Kaitlin, Close Combat!" I ordered as, simultaneously, they both attacked the Zoroark, forcing it back as I climbed onto the Arcanine before it charged through, my two Lucarios avoiding it as it slid to a stop near the trainer. Not missing a beat, I threw out three more Pokeballs as a Serperior, a Krookodile, and a Mienshao came out, all nodding at me.

"Lara, Acrobatics, Krux, Foul Play, and Minx, Grass Knot!" I ordered, pointing to the Zoroark, Alakazam and Seismitoad in order, sending each pokemon after their respective targets.

"Samuel, Lucas, Kaitlin, with me!" I commanded as the two Lucario and the Arcanine moved to guard myself and the Trainer, a girl older than myself, as far as I could know from a glance. "Hey, you okay?" I asked, half-interested, half-focused on the fight at hand, shifting my wooden sword to a ready position.

[Foolish Humans...] I thought, disgusted by their looks as another brushed past me. [While you run about, our master is searching for more Alternates to find, as well as more of my kind.]

{Just who is your master, anyway? Have you ever seen his face, Charles?} I snarled inwardly as that pesky voice interrupted my thoughts over how these Humans would serve us, Genesis, in the fututre.

[Quiet, you. I'll deal with you just as soon as I find that girl I have been ordered to locate.] I tried to silence it, futilely as it sighed in reply, an image of a young Human child suddenly appearing in my head. It disgusted me, but it felt strangely familiar.

{Do you even remember him, Charles? Have you really let this just happen to you?} It asked, giving me a migrane and causing me to grab my head, my Human disguise in the Pokemon Center doing the same.

[What the hell are you talking about?! I don't know who that filthy-]

"Excuse me, are you okay, mister?" My mind's thought process was cut off as I opened my eyes to see a Human girl looking up at me. Inwardly, I was snarling at the thought of being comforted by a Human child, me, a higher being! I forced myself to smile and nod before I stood up and forcefully shoved my way through the crowd near the doors, walking outside into the rain generated by my partners. Pulling out a lone slip of paper, a list of names was written down, each one crossed off as they were found and taken by Genesis.

{Looking for another target, Charles? Or are you trying to find release from your imprisonment?} It droned on again.

"Shut up!" I inadvertently screamed in fluid Pokespeak, catching the attention of the Furret on a teenager's jacket, sensing his Alternate nature, although it wasn't as strong an aura as the one lying on the ground. Looking down at the piece of paper, I quickly turned to run down one of the several alleyways of the large city, headed quickly towards the so-called Narrow Street.

[Now where is this 'Rizu' girl?] I asked myself.

Soundlessly, the teenage girl sat, staring off into the distance. She would blink from time to time, allowing her eyes to get a slight rest before prying them open again. People came and went, talking about random things, ranging from weather to battling. Some of these conversations proved interesting, but most were dull, almost mindless. Once in a little while, Wynter would tilt her head upward, allowing her to read the clock. She nodded silently afterward, noting how long the wait had now become. Darius had been true to his word, this was taking a long time. However, the girl would no complain, and deep down, didn’t mind this seemingly endless waiting. The Centre was never too busy at one time, so she never really felt trapped or closed in.

Two hours had now passed, she noted on the next clock check. Finally, Nurse Joy got up from behind her desk and went to see if the brunette was alright.

“Yes, I’m okay,” Wynter responded quietly, never making eye contact with the pink-haired woman. She was then warned that, because her wait was unrelated to the Centre, that she was dangerously nearing the loitering point and would have to leave soon. A little surprised, the teenager simply stood, this sudden motion waking her Minccino, who had been sleeping at her side.

“Sorry, but its policy,” the nurse spoke in her usual kind tone, and was met with a gentle nod. After beckoning Rocky to follow her, she started slowly for the door. Against the polished tiles, Wynter’s shoes made a slight clacking, which persisted until she stepped outside, and was greeted by cement. Looking around, she realised the scenery hadn’t changed much since her wait had begun. The girl didn’t actually go very far, locating a nearby park bench and sitting on it. Rocky, on the other hand, climbed atop a road sign, using the extra height to extend her visual range. Not far off, she found a dispersing crowd of people, and this caught her interest. At any rate, going to check that out would be far more entertaining than idling here. However, her plan was soon cut short…

Enter Darius, a somewhat tall fellow, clad in an umber sweater and crisp white shirt, which sat below the former. Despite this being his “casual clothes” he was dressed more formally then most of the pedestrians, including Wynter, his target. She was dressed in a long-ish teal shirt and a pair of used black jeans.

Upon hearing footsteps, the girl turned her head, and smiled slightly upon seeing the familiar face. He seemed a little surprised to see her outside, although it was really hard to tell with him.

“How was it?” she asked, in a voice so low it was hard for the man to hear her properly.

“Decently, I would say,” he replied, and it was almost impossible to detect any sort of emotion within his words. Wynter gave him a gentle nod before standing up again, ready to leave the bench behind. They started to the right, towards a busier street. Rocky was pleased; they were heading in the direction of the crowd. Maybe she would get to check it out after all. “There is something that has come to my attention, and I believe it would be worthwhile to investigate,” he said, almost mimicking the teenager’s quiet voice, although it was done purposely to keep others from hearing. She gave him a surprised look, but didn’t inquire further. She simply nodded gently and followed suit.

Aki grinned, wiggling her toes like one might tap their fingers, and was greeted with the image of a girl wearing what seemed to be often classified as "goth clothes"--boots, ruffled skirt, a jacket that seemed out of place with the skirt, and a...tophat? Oh well, she introduced herself as a visual alt about the sane time the other girl made a rather snappy comment about what the plan was. Then there was the matter of the other boy near her who seemed to have heard about alternates, but how? /Musei? Any explanation?/

The Gallade only had to glance at the boy to realize his mistake. The boy had a Gardevoir. Aki, being halfway in his mind, realized it at the same time he did. "Crap!" Aki hissed as Haru picked up on the term as well.

"What is he talking about, Aki?" The blonde inquired, Aki shook her head.

"None of your business." She muttered, Haru frowned at her.

"Aki--"

"If you're going to help, shut up and help. You," Aki's voice bore a tone of menace until she turned on Stella, where it lightened and became suddenly polite and much softer. "Can you try and take over the illusion? Make them look like they're running away as we knock them down?" She asked quickly about a half-second before she heard an electric crackle, and she was suddenly slammed into from the side and knocked off her feet, catching a fleeting image of the boy who had tackled her before she crashed to the ground.

/Aki!/ Musei shouted mentally about the same time Haru yelped.

"Holy crap, are you okay???" Haru asked, worried for both the blind girl and the boy who had taken the unexpected thunderbolt for her. While Musei was eternally grateful, Aki was rather angry, especially when not only did the idiot have the genius to introduce himself in the middle of a battle after just being struck down, but he had to call her an alt. Under normal circumstances, she would have punched the crap out of him. Her blind eyes stared blankly forward, and his hand was ignored as Musei reached out and grabbed her to pull her up.

"The heck was that for, you freaking idiot? Just shove me over in the middle of battle and then introduce yourself, why don't you?! And then you had to mention us, didn't you--not everyone here knows!" She hissed, astounding Haru with the ferocity of her tone.

/Forgive her, she doesn't take well to being knocked around. It's what blinded her in the first place. I however, thank you many times over./ Musei told Joseph.

Meanwhile, Colossus had taken and interest in the pummeling party that seemed to have formed around another girl(Rizu) and joined the other trainer and the pokemon that had helped her, waiting for something to make a move--almost daring it.

She murmured defensively, she wouldn't have hurt him or even tried to. It was all a game of curiosity here, and she wasn't into the kind of thing anyway. "Does Lilycove in Hoenn sound good?" She asked before concentrating, fixing her mind on the view of the shore of Liliycove from her bedroom window and trying to project it to the boy's eyes. Those eyes were almost hypnotic, yet something in her repelled the idea of losing herself in them. That would be getting in too deep... She thought morbidly, thinking of her avoidance of human companionship and how it had affected her. It was only a ment before she returned her full concentration on the image she was trying to project to the boy--and then a voice that belonged to neither of them broke in.

Michelle jumped and spun around to find a hooded figure near her, asking about some apples the twins had been selling. It shattered her concentration, if Rai had seen anything at all then it would be gone now. Cam looked at the figure suspiciously, and Michelle caught a whirl of something about overpriced food and a job from the newcomer's mind. She turned back to Rai and shrugged, mouthing "Sorry, broke my concentration. Try again when he's gone?" if only to try and shake the bad feeling she was getting from the newcomer.

He said the word distastefully, the girl was trying to squirm in his arms, maybe removing her sense of touch would fix that, although it would be a bit more difficult for her to do--then again,he also knew the extent of Nina Sayers abilities. :Someone just came out of nowhere and tackled the girl to the ground. It saved her from a Thunderbolt and she's somewhat mad about it.: The Gardevoir replied, more focused on the illusions than anything else. Being a Psychic pokemon she could dispel them easily, but that would attract attention.

Stella sighed and rlled her eyes at the spectacle that these idiots were making of themselves. She pulled her gloves down farther and turned back to the illusions, narrowing her eyes at them. "Something seems to be breaking the illusionist's concentration," she said out loud. "Either that or he or she is distracted by something. I can try." Her free hand went up and motioned to Lola. "Make a Magical Leaf. Showy, but don't actually hit the illusions," she whispered.

She waited until Lola nodded and started forming the leaves before taking a step forward, away from the others. She let her eyes drift half closed and concentrated, ignoring the fake rain and the vague arguments and the roars off in the distance. She thought of Palpitoads, and how she wanted them to turn away from then, run off into the alleys and corners. She wanted them out of sight, and then she would dissolve the illusion herself. She barely noticed the storm of multicolored leaves shooting by her and zipping around the fake Palpitoads, close enough to make it look as if they were doing damage but not really touching the illusions at all.

Keitaro tilted his head as he felt something tickle his senses. When you were blind, your other senses were heightened in order to compenstae. :Tsubaki?: he asked, hoping that the Gardevoir would understand the disturbance.

:I don't want to pry into her mind,: Tsubaki answered calmly, :and I don't think the Mismagius would let me anyway. But from what I can tell, there's something going on in the girl's head.: There was a pause. :I think she's trying to create an illusion. No other energy feels quite like it.:

"I see," Keitaro said out loud. "So all of you 'Alternates' can create illusions. How peculiar."

((Before you call me out on this, let me just say that people have been using 'Alternates' and 'illusions' in their dialogue for quite a while now. It's not that much of a stretch XDD))

:Wait a moment,: Sora said, suspicion coloring his mindvoice. :Did she just--:

:Hush!: Rai thought as he felt something tickle his mind. He knew how to detect illusions and how to fight them, but this one was not dangerous. In fact he welcomed it and let his mind sit as limp as a lump of clay, ready to be molded. He felt the edges of his vision blur for a moment. He wasn't rebelling against the illusion, it was just naturally harder to trick an Alt. In the distance he could see the ligths of the Fairgrounds, but to his amazement they were started to blue together to create one big light reflecting off of a crystalline blue sea. For a moment he saw blue and a translucent gray that may or may not have been walls trying to form, but then the forming picture vanished when he heard a man's voice asking about apples.

The blue twin blinked and shook his head, feeling as if he had just woken up from a nap. :Interesting,: he said with a smile. :Sora, would you take care of that?:

Sora rolled his eyes a little and picked out three of the apples that the basket still had. "Usually they're a dollar each," he said, somehow managing to juggle the fruits with a Ditto still wrapped around his shoulders. "However since we're closed they're only seventy-five cents. We get new apples for each act." Next to him, Rai Jr. was copying his trainer's movements, juggling little balls of light.

Rai nodded at Miche's question and stepped a little to the side, blocking the man's line of vision. He didn't want the customer to see his lips move. "You know, it's a lot more polite to ask someone before you read their thoughts." He said very quietly without a hint of reproach, but there was something underlying in his tone that spoke of a firm seriousness.

Nina frowned a little. "I don't know, if she loses her final sense with connecting to the world then she might go crazy." There were a few beats of silence as she thought about it. Siegfried waved at Lillie. "At least I can do something," she said at last and gave the girl a look.

She was also a touch Alt, which Shinichi had failed to emotion. However, with her sight and hearing already removed the girl was too much of a wreck to put up much of a fight. There was a gasp as Nina cleanly stripped away her feeling of touch like she was peeling an onion, and for a moment she tried to fight. The young one's sightless, nerveless hands clutched at Shi's shirt and Nina felt something trying to block her. But without any way to identify her attacker it was hopeless. After a few seconds the girl gave up and started to whimper in the back of her throat. "She's quite docile," Nina commented. "I wonder where Rolland found her."

After a few twists and turns, Darius arrived at his destination, followed by Wynter and her Pokémon. By now, there were few people left. Two males one female and a cloaked kid remained, the four seemingly engrossed in conversation. He nodded gently, having anticipated the show having ended by now. The two extra people were simply extra, and would most likely leave before too long. Waiting for them to end their seemingly simple chatter was the preferred plan, but standing around like this would end up drawing suspicious glances. He knew the best route to take, and would have to go through with it, despite his feelings. All he really wanted was quiet, although there was no time for that now.

Following the man’s lead, Wynter approached the others, feeling nervous. She didn’t really like strangers too much, but wasn’t about to prevent Darius from reaching whatever objective he had set. Half the time, she was in the dark about his plans, and never inquired when not told. It wasn’t her place.

They stopped not far behind the cloaked person, whom by now, had drawn the man’s suspicion. He remembered being taught never to judge a book by its cover, but, minus on Halloween, nobody dressed that way was a neutral bystander. There must be something they were hiding… but what? Darius dismissed this for now, it was of little importance.

Wynter eyed the four gently and silently. The boys appeared to be twins, being nearly identical in appearance. The girl had nice hair, colour bordering on mahogany, and the other fellow, because of those robes, she couldn’t see any of his or her features. She then looked down, not wanting to draw any attention to herself. This wasn’t about her anyway…

"The heck was that for, you freaking idiot? Just shove me over in the middle of battle and then introduce yourself, why don't you?! And then you had to mention us, didn't you--not everyone here knows!" The girl known as Aki seethed, my mental probing catching the telepathy from the Gallade.

/Forgive her, she doesn't take well to being knocked around. It's what blinded her in the first place. I however, thank you many times over./ He offered in gratitude. Shaking my head, I waved it off casually, letting the angered insult roll right off as I turned to the Gallade, catching the name Musei among the scattered telepathy during my paralysis.

"Musei, is it? If anything, I should be the one apologizing. I had no prior knowledge." I spoke, sighing as I placed my hands in my pocket and turned to Aki. "Please, accept my deepest apologies for this misunderstanding." I offered, bowing slightly before suddenly standing straight, a rustling in my bag grabbing all of my attention.

"Is it hatching?!" I quickly pulled out the egg, a small crack indeed prevalent on the top of the shell. It took everything I had to refrain from leaping up with joy as I saw the crack grow larger, several more fractures running along the egg. Victor leapt up as, almost simultaneously, all of my pokemon still in their pokeballs, and Rufus, burst out, surrounding me as the shell finally cracked open, a dark grey muzzle poking out before finally the shell shattered, several fagments disappearing, leaving a small female Zorua in my arms, cradled gently as a few happy tears trailed down my eyes.

"Welcome to the world, Kasey." I spoke softly as the newborn pokemon yawned, still tired. Pulling out a regular pokeball, I softly pressed it to her fur as she entered without a fight and accepted the capture.

After seven and a half months of raising the egg, I was finally the foster father I was entrusted to be from the Zoroark that trained me. Suddenly, the realization of where I was and that I fell to my knees, supported by my Dewott Daniel and Victor, I wiped away my tears and stood again, new fire burning within me.

"Forgive me for being blunt, but I don't have time to chat right now. I have a newborn Zorua to protect." I directed toward nobody in particular, running forward with the pokemon that had suddenly found a reason along with me to fight.

What the hell?

The next thing I knew was someone was calling out Pokemon attacks as the steam started to clear. Shorai stopped as well, seeing as the Zoroark growled as it moved back a bit defensively, dodging attacks as if they were made by an amateur. Clearly this Zoroark was well trained, very well trained.

I continued to ignore the telepathic conversation as, well I sort of couldn't focus on it at the moment. I looked around for Zhen, who was intent on beating back that shiny Alakazam with his own head into pulp. Shorai stuck next to me, as there was a new band of Pokemon to be hold. An Arcanine, Serpeior...now a Golurk was joining the fray? Too much attention.

I only turned to notice who was asking about my wellness. I almost fell over again when I saw it was a boy. Not even a teenage one, just a boy, most likely under the age of thirteen. He had a...a wooden sword?

'God rizu, you're slippin'...'

"I'm fine, buzz off." I replied adamantly.

Last thing I need is some ten, eleven year old saving my ass. I would of had this if something didn't distract me and Zhen...wait.

I looked up, finding a floating thing far off in the distance. A Haunter...okay now I wasn't happy. Luckily, no one could see my eyes behind my shades but the rest of my face clearly said unimpressed. I looked back at the other three who jumped me, they seemed to be backing off one side, and that Zoroark who seemed to be the ring leader, growled and glared at us. Hell yes they were outnumbered, however, outmatched was a whole other song.

I notice the Zoroark look up, and I did in turn for some reason.

The rain...fake rain...it stopped?

I heard the Zoroark bark at the Alakazam, and he put one hand on the fox, and the other on the real Palpitoad, and used Teleport. With that, the immediate threat was gone, my shoulder still hurt like a bastard, though I ignored it for the moment, sticking my hands in my pocket and pretending I wasn't injured. I was a master at hiding things like that. I felt a nudge on my leg, seeing my Galvantula with my hat in her fangs. Damn, I forgot my hat was gone. I took it from her, replacing it on my head just as Zhen landed, growling angrily at the other Pokemon at my back.

I stood for a moment, watching the spot where the Zoroark and company had been. Why I was attacked I didn't know, and I didn't like it. Maybe it was just because I happened to decide to tamper. The illusionary rain however, that really started to bug me. Right now though...I wasn't happy about all the attention I had brought to myself.

I turned, looking at all the other Pokemon and went down the street, back to the center area. With all the lingering rain gone, and I had stopped my thunder awhile back, the clouds were just drifting by in their grey gloomy way. Everything seemed to calm down, though with Zhen in a bad mood that wasn't going to last. Shorai stood close to me, also looking as I did. I saw a group of Alts and non-Alts, well more felt, I just saw a group of people and Pokemon. I spoke loudly over all other conversation.

"Hey, who's responsible for the Haunter nearly causing me to be tackled fifty feet down into the street?"

My posture was that of the usual calm one but my tone of voice, you could tell I was irritated.

Mammon stayed still for a few seconds, trying to calm down about the fact there was a telepath here. And it happened to be his target. He imagined that alts would be hard to kidnap, but this was way over the line! Telepaths are probably the most irritating of them all; no illusion could overcome the power of knowing someone else and their thoughts, and anyone with a decent brain could use it to gain a tremendous advantage. It was just lucky for him, then, since she didn't see anything important in his mind. How could he have not noticed her? Was he really that hungry? Maybe he was just out of shape, not being as tense as he would be if he wasn't on vacation. His mysterious employer was going to have pay extra for this...

"It's kind of rude to read someone's mind without telling them first, you know that?" He said, in an irritated tone, at the girl. Turning back at one of the twins, he muttered in a low tone, "Sorry for causing a scene like that... I'll take the apples and leave. Here's your two dollars and twenty-five cents for the apples." Taking the three apples inside his robes, Mammon turned to leave...

When he noticed not one, but two people behind him. Was he really getting this bad at his job? Letting people sneak up him is just unacceptable, and in his business it could leave him dead.

"Could I help you with anything? It's rather strange of you to stand right behind me, as if you're waiting for me to leave."

"If he wants to protect it, shouldn't he be running the other way? Idiot." Aki muttered furiously. She "saw" Haru shrug.

"I hatched a few of my pokemon...but I never got like that. Not even when Joy hatched." He muttered, raising his eyebrows slightly, although he was more interested in the way the Palpitoad seemed to run away with Stella's illusions and magical leaf distraction. "Whoa! That's cool!" He said brightly just before Keitaro made the comment about alts making illusions. "I'm still kinda totally confused about that, you know."

"It's still none of your business, you know? It's not his either, but he has a Gardevoir telling him everything and it too smart for his own good. There's a freaking reason we're not advertised public heroes of justice--we're not supposed to be known about, just do our jobs." Aki growled defensively. In the distance, she heard a comment about a Haunter, but it didn't relate to her, so she didn't comment, however... "Vashuka, Colossus! If everything is clear, come on back!" She called loudly. The Liepard and Golurk both turned their heads and proceeded to chase the remaining illusions before returning to Aki, or at least near her.

"But, Aki, we just--"

"It doesn't matter that you helped once! Helping does not entitle you to go shoving your nose into private business! Would you go ad save a little girl, and then ask to know all her darkest, most personal secrets? That's what you're doing here." Aki snarled, and Haru backed away.

I hope you don't mind." She paused only briefly before moving the conversation from physical to mental. /I don't need anyone else finding out. I don't want attention for something that has been the bane of my existence my entire life. I was born a telepath, but no one understood what was wrong with me for years, my entire childhood was a nightmare because I could hear the surface thoughts of everyone around me and everyone thought I was insane, or schizophrenic, or...or...they didn't know what was wrong with me, they didn't believe I could hear everyone around me every waking minute of the day, the only reprieve being sleep... It was horrific. I had to deal with it all by myself, no one could help me, because there was no one like me to help me for most of my life. The only one I've ever found to help has been Cam, and even then, I can only make them manageable most of the time. I'm never free of the voices of everyone around me unless I'm far away from people or asleep, and as an alt, the first isn't really an option. You and your brother...you're the first like me I've met, and your thoughts are particularly loud--especially when talking to each other--nearly impossible to tune out. I didn't dig, though, I swear. I'll let you into my mind for proof, if you want... She gotten so worked up, she had basically opened up and laid out her horrible life as a single telepath to this boy, and she hadn't even introduced herself to him properly!

/Oh tut, tut, Miss Michelle. Where are your lovely manners?/ Camellia teased lightly, Michelle gave her a slight glare from the corner of her eye.

"Shut up and eat the chocolate, Cam." She said, sounding shaky and tired. However, she ventured back to mental conversation for one last time. /I'm sorry, my life hasn't been easy and I just sort of dropped it all on you because I got a little flustered, without even properly introducing myself...my name is Michelle Toya. I have many nicknames, if you prefer to shorten it--I don't really care, just about everyone who meets me does, just make sure I know what you're going to call me beforehand if you do./ She was honestly almost scared. She had just told someone the worst of her life, she'd admitted to being a telepath and hating it, she admitted she was messed up in the head and antisocial...and she was afraid that this boy she had just told everything to would use it against her to hurt her more. It was rare she exposed herself to people as a real person, that part of her was fragile, it would break with almost no resistance.

Cold, amber eyes looked back to Nina. "She's got two more still left. Just not important ones." He said softly, seemingly unaffected by the gasp or the hands, or even the whimpering, yet of one knew him well enough, they might have seen sorrow in his eyes or heard it in his voice, faintly, but still there. Lillie looked slightly upset as she moved an arm and waved back at her fellow Zorua in disguise.

Behind them, the illusory storm seemed to lessen and fade away as the neared the treeline of the city. "I would assume he might know her, or he has a list somewhere. There is no telling where Rolland gets our targets. He could simply have passed her on the street and thought her an easy target, so he told us to go get her. I'm not asking." He said softly, and once again, it was faint, but you might detect sorrow or bitterness to his tone. Lillie made a sound in the back of her throat that said she was unhappy with the fact. However, they walked on.

The illusions were gone. Stella smiled and relaxed, letting her mind snap back into its normal state like a rubber band. Well, that had been funa and interesting, but now she had had another problem on her hands: yelling. Stella hated yelling and raised voices in general. It was unbecoming to yell and lose control of your temper, or so she had been brought up to believe. She listened to the girl with the Gallade(Aki, she told herself) rant and simply adjusted her gloves and hat. She closed her umbrella, since the rain had stopped and she no longer needed to pretend that it was around.

During the girl's berating she noticed the other Alt come back, Lazarus following dutifully behind. The Alt looked around and shouted, "Hey, who's responsible for the Haunter nearly causing me to be tackled fifty feet down into the street?"

Stella was so surprised that she laughed. "Oh Lazarus, did you tackle her? Well done! You can come back now." She waved him forward, and the cackling Hauntar immediately returned to his trainer's side. With two Ghost pokemon on either side of her Stella looked slightly intimidating, although the chilly aura of both pokemon was what really got the attention of others. She patted Lazarus on the head and decided to ask questions later.

Tsubaki bristled under Aki's words. :And would you rather have us go into a fight and have no idea what we're up against?: she demanded angrily, her eyes taking on the slightest glow of pink. Near her, Princess squealed and hid behind Keitaro.

Immediately Keitaro's hand was on her shoulder, rubbing it soothingly. "Calm down, Tsubaki," he said gently. He seemed unruffled by Aki's comment and was actually smiling. He adjusted his glasses again, since they were about to fall off for a second time. "May I ask though: if your identities are suppossed to be such a big secret then why were illusions running around in the first place?"

"Who cares anyway?" Stella intervened, frowning. "You people don't know me, I don't know you and I don't care. So what if I'm an illusionist, I will do with it what I shall."

:Really?: Sora questioned, still having his verbal conversation with his customer. :I mean not to bring your hopes down or anything, but we kinda naturally had ourselves shielded. Our bond was always turned more to each other, and we only heard someone's thoughts if they were thinking particularly loud.:

Rai nodded slightly. :Yes, that is true, but we also have had some psychics in our family as well. We come from a line of illusionsts: the Hayabusa family. "Well, you're right on that prospect, but I'm afraid now isn't the time to rest. Whoever made this storm was obviously intending to send anyone not like us indoors, with the full knowledge that we'd treat it as a walk in the park. Like it or not, somebody was attempting to draw us out, and now they have knowledge of who we are and what we look like. We are officially in something we probably don't want to be in anyway." I explained, crossing my arms as I stared dead-center into her eyes.

"As for you," I directed to the trainer with the Gardevoir named Tsubaki. "You're now in possession of knowledge you shouldn't have. So that gothic snub is the owner of the Haunter that had me unfocused for that one moment...

Zhen was growling rather loudly, and Shorai sparked at the ground in front of her. In a sense, she was sort of spitting in the general direction of the girl but only I knew that's what Shorai was really doing. He...she, only looked like he was failing at throwing an Electro Ball at the ground. I tried to calm myself a bit, knowing that if Zhen decided to angrily bolt for her, there was no sense in stopping anger with anger. Something else I heard was another snippy girl ranting at a guy about illusionists...wait. Oh hell...

'That must of been the trainer of the Gallade who messed...god I'm surrounded by incompetence...pure incompetence...'

I was aggrivated at the idiocy of others, but I was more concerned about that ignorant goth right now. Lazarus, the Haunter, was at her side along with a Mismagius that also looked rather smug. I was getting an unimpressive first impression from her. I then realized the kid had still been talking to me, as one of Zhen's heads was glaring at him.

"Kid, listen, I'm an adult, I don't need you giving me advice." I started quietly. "The safest place for me to be is on my own, and my name is no good to you."

It wasn't an angry tone like I was feeling, it was my calm tone, one of neutrality...neutralness, whatever the word was. I could feel Zhen getting louder in his growls, and I saw him move forward a bit, ready to lunge at the gothic girl. Honestly, I would of wanted to do the exact same thing but I wasn't that petty. I didn't let him even move a meter without using my auditory illusions powers to get him to listen.

Zhen. She isn't worth the effort.

The shiny Hydriegon stopped as soon as he started, looking back at me, then at the other girl surrounding herself in ghosts. He snarled and growled, coming back to me resentfully.

"Worse things are going to happen to a person with little regard for life and next to no decency or respect for it." I spoke out loud to him this time, still reffering directly to the gothic girl. "NEvermind the fact she continues to speak of a certain existence yet prattles on to the outsider about not getting involved when she herself won't shut up about it. Hypocritical excuse really."

My tone was my usual calm, I actually felt a bit better saying that out loud, though Zhen hadn't calmed down, he was still giving death stares to that Haunter called Lazarus. Shorai took a step forward and sparked electricity on the ground just a couple meters away from where she was standing.

"Oh, and by the way," I was speaking directly to the gothic ghost girl this time. "I wasn't tackled specifically by that Haunter as I was on my way to try and figure out who was behind this, and I was going to get this problem in the ass but some other assanine snub decided to be a pain in the ass."

Now I was feeling much better, back to my calm. No one could see my eyes behind my shades, so I looked calm the entire time. Slightly serious but calm, as my tone was ninety nine percent of the time. I ignored the pain in my shoulder, and no one could tell it was bothering me. Yeah it hurt but it would be dealth with later.

"So if anyone else feels like screwing things up, I'll be on my way."

No one who wasn't apart of this spat wouldn't hear anything, that was the benefit of sound illusion. Sure visual illusions could make us all invisible but that wasn't as practical as not being heard.

This fellow had pretty much pinpointed Darius’s motive, not the he’d admit it, however. Starting a scene here wasn’t the wisest option, and luckily, he had a way out.

“We were simply waiting for you to finish your transactions. It would have been rude of us to have interrupted, no?” he stated, not shifting his voice or facial expression in the slightest. In one way, the man wasn’t lying, and knew it all too well. To emphasise the point, Wynter nodded shyly, but didn’t add anything. Her words wouldn’t serve any good, and would probably only damper Darius’s efforts.

She was also a little more fascinated with the others, although it was really hard to see what they up to. Like with anything, however, the girl didn’t dare move around in attempt to find out more. Rocky, on the other hand, was getting a little fed up with sitting at her trainer’s footsteps like a lifeless doll. It was taking everything for her not to get up and check things out, and was only doing this for Winter’s sake.

The other trainer seemed rather angry at her. Stella raised an eyebrow at her words and before she was even halfway done she started to chuckle. At the end of her rant it was a full blown laugh of pure delight and mockery. Lola had been glaring at the Hydriegon as if daring it to do something, but she turned to give Stella a puzzled glance when she heard the laughter.

The young lady paused and smiled, like a parent chiding a rather thick child. "Oh Lola, there's no need to get so worked up. She's just throwing a little tantrum like the child she is." Her eyelids dipped down and little and she half-turned, deliberately facing away from the girl as if looking at her when she was speaking wasn't worth the effort. "It's quite silly, really. They think they know everything and like to shout this to the world, thinking that people will actually listen and care about what they think. However she's just like those tiny little dogs that you kick into a gutter: she bark and barks endlessly, without reason, but she never bites and when a challenge raises its head she runs away with her tail between her legs."

She motioned to Lazarus and started to slowly walk away. "Come on, let's leave this place. We don't need these people anymore."

What a stuck up little punk.

This person was definitely on my hate list of people I had, under circumstances, been forced to meet. I could hear Shorai sparking with electricity and Zhen was ready to rip the girls head off. I wasn't phased by anything she said, it only proved my points and the other ones I had yet to bring up.

"Those who surround themselves in remnants of the dead I suppose wouldn't understand the value of a life, and laugh back in self response to avoid the idea of that being challenged. Thus, a response to make one you believe the person knows nothing because of the need to feel the person is speaking in stupidity in order to go on without that challenge sitting in your mind." I started, still calm as usual. "Claiming it to be a tanrum is only your single perception so that you can more easier believe that I have no point to what I'm saying, which is rather childish. This yapping dogs, as all dogs do, always start for a valid reason. It's when those who choose to ignore it and won't listen, find it annoying and senseless."

Zhen still seemed as angry as usual but Shorai calmed down a bit. I took a step sideways, facing Zhen. I closed my eyes for a moment but not like you could see it beyond my shades.

"Chlidren find time for pranks in the time of action and seriousness. " I was reffering to what her damn Haunter did. "And as I recall...Zhen was the one who made a challenge first, I stopped him as fighting without real need is pointless. So next time you want to claim I flee at the sight of a challenge, check your hypocrisy first. No one around here has made a challenge to me yet. The only one walking away, laughing to hide what's under your hat, is you. It's amusing when the person calling names here is really the only one acting as such of what she calls others."

Or are you going to do something about it to prove me wrong...?

Another laugh. "What a way to prove my point," Stella said and opened and closed her hand rapidly, like a person talking. "Yap on little dog, no one is listening." She turned then, her silver eyes flashing. "All you have to say about others is criticism. Why don't you actually do something useful and take action. You want to hit me? Then do it."

Next to her Lazarus cackled and moved closer, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. Lola was silent and just narrowed her eyes.

"No, I'd rather have all you clueless non-Alts stay away and mind your own frigging business and stay clueless like you're supposed to." Aki growled in response to Tsubaki before turning her sightless eyes on Keitaro. "Don't you have a few show-offy idiots in just about every group?" She hissed, jerking away from the hand Haru tried to put on her shoulder.

"Hey, how'd you do that? I thought--"

"Blind, not totally sensory deprived..." She sighed, turning to face her Liepard and Golurk. "Colossus, good job, now return." She said dryly after producing the shield-stickered pokeball again. With a slight nod, the Golurk disappeared in the engulfing flash of red emitted by the pokeball.

"But you doged that like you could--"

"I have my methods, okay? If it will freaking satisfy you, Musei can show you what my eyes see. It's totally dark." Aki seemed to not be able to let Haru Aozora finish a single sentence.

/Not totally, to be absolutely correct./ Musei told her almost smugly, and Aki's head snapped in his direction, but was still so obviously off that anyone watching her might have thought her crazy.

"Oh shut up about technicalities. That's not my eyes." She said, sounding only fractionally annoyed rather than angry like she was with everyone else. And then there was that boy's voice that entered her head... Aki snorted as two started bickering in the background--the visual Alt and another--and replied to the telepath. "And with those two fighting like cats and dogs and my general distrust of most of the population, I don't see that happening." She growled softly. "Besides, if they did it, they must have known we were here in the first place--it's not like they were just putting that out there to see what came outta the woodwroks."

Time for some fun.

He'd been quiet for too long. He didn't know how he'd been able to remain quiet for as long as he had, but somehow he did. And he didn't like it one bit. So, now, it was time for him to step out of the shadows, and into the light. So to speak.

"Chandler... Where to? Big city, busy. Eek." The bandage-clad Jix uttered, under his breath, to his Chandelure companion, who replied by jumping up and down and flailing his flame-wielding arms. One of the flames lightly brushed the skin directly under Jix's eye, the only part of his body not wrapped up and pinned away. Jix didn't notice, though. The flame darkened the patch of skin it had passed over, and the smell of burnt flesh was now drifting through the air. The scent was apparent to everybody except him, as he could hear peoples disgusted remarks as he passed them. Little did they know the scent was coming from him. In fact, most people didn't even see him. He'd been working hard to make his appearance look like that of a small child, blonde hair, blue eyes, no older than six years old. To the untrained eye, this was generally how most people saw him.

But he knew he was a monster.

"THERETHERETHERETHERE" Chandler began to shriek, a sound Jix could only hear inside of his head. Maybe this was another reason for his insanity?

"Where. What." Jix replied, following Chandler's extended arm with his eye to see a narrow alleyway. He smiled underneath the mass of bandages and straps, and began to make his way towards it.

Such a child...

"The one who repeats the same points in an argument is the one who is losing the argument."

I wasn't going to get through to this vampire wannabe teenager. I was just wasting my time, and Zhen seemed to start seeing my point. Shorai spat another set of Volts at the gothic's feet. Yeah she was just a waste of air.

"Maybe my 'yapping' is too much for your childish attention span." I said calmly, but sharply. "It maybe critisism but that's what the world doesn't have enough of. Everyone fears it, or hates it. No one learns from it, they all just reject it."

I decided to turn slightly back at this girl, even managing a tiny crack of a smile. Despite my shoulder still hurt, I was well on my way to ignoring it.

"I'm above hitting people outside self defense. Besides, I'm not the one who wants to hit you."

Zhen growled and glared at Lazarus, all three heads looking at either the Haunter, the girl or the other ghost Pokemon with her. I turned to walk away, having Shorai give the girl one final electrical spat before following me.

"It's funny you mention to me trying to do something useful, when just a few moments ago I was on the trail of whoever was causing these disturbances before you had your ghost screw everything over." I more or less half thought out loud, half spoke. "Anyway, as much as your invite to physically harm you is tempting my friend here, we're going to have to decline. Can't give misbehaved children what they want."

With that, Shorai jolted foward with speed, jumping and latching herself onto the sides of buildings as Zhen picked me up and launched himself away from the group. I had been done trying to be nice. Well...tht probably wasn't the best way to put it but that was the way I could think of.

Zhen quickly flew back down Narrow Street, following my chiny Galvantula who was leaping between the buildings like the crazy free runner he...she was. With no one to see me directly, I fit my hand under my sweater and rubbed my shoulder.

'Damn...even touching the muscle hurts...'

I sat down on the dragon's back, leaning against his neck. So much for today...some non-Alt knew that Alts existed...I was nearly mauled by some rogue Zoroark and his posse...some ten year old comes and tries to save me...note to self: work on skills to prevent previously mention statement from happening again. Today started out great and then just went downhill...and I still had that bad feeling in my gut...the very back of it.

The way his expression didn't change a bit clearly showed that he was a pro. Either in money-making, corrupt business, or... his type of business. Well, whichever business he worked in, he wanted something with the twins or the girl. Mammon had a gut feeling that he'd be meeting the formal man a lot more than he liked, later on.

"I suppose I'll have to keep you waiting a little more, then. I apologize if you are on a tight schedule." Mammon decided to keep stalling time around them a little more; since he had absolutely no leads on this Michelle person (the employer was either an idiot or just messing with him- he bet on the latter), he could afford to waste some time, and frankly, he was quite curious to what the man was looking for.

"Here's your money for the three apples." Mammon took the apples from his hand and started to munch on an apple, mechanically.

"Hmm, they aren't half bad. Could I have four more, please?" Not that they were anywhere that good to be worth his money (he actually died a little inside every time he chewed on the apples; not worth 75 cents), but it would give him an excuse to stick around a little further.

Sighing as the girl flew away on her Hydreigon, I turned and began walking to the Pokemon Center.

On the outside, it would appear as if I were suffereing a sudden headache, but on the inside, my true skills were activating again.

[Vision]
Castelia. I was looking down upon it from atop a skyscraper, staring down at what appeared to be the girl on her Hydreigon, a phone in my left hand and a list of names and photos in my right, hers circled. Smugly grinning, I looked over at two other Zoroarks next to me. Shouting something in the Pokemon language, I grinned as the three of us tossed a fiber cable net down, catching the Hyrdreigon and its rider off-guard as the net closed and electrified, sending enough volts to knock the Human into unconsciousness and weaken the Hydreigon enough for us to catch it and force it back into its Pokeball. Laughing, we dragged the girl off into an inconspicuous vehicle parked in a side alley, locking her in the cell after taking away her pokemon.
[End Vision]

Breathing heavily, my head shot back up, almost giving myself whiplash as I pulled out Rufus's Pokeball, calling him out.

"That's why they created the diversion. She's the target!" I shouted, hopping on Rufus as he took to the air quickly, chasing after the shiny Hydreigon at top speed, and towards Rizu, all the while looking for the perfect spot to look down at the scene and lay an ambush.

"I suppose I'll have to keep you waiting a little more, then. I apologize if you are on a tight schedule." The clocked figure replied, which made Darius groan, internally of course. He hadn’t banked on this waiting, which proved of some annoyance. However, such a minor detail wasn’t nearly enough to faze him, and he remained calm as ever.

“Take your time, we are in no rush,” he stated, emotionless as before. Wynter, despite having waited for hours before didn’t react adversely to this response. Not that standing around here was her opinion of fun; she’d prefer to go for a meal or something, but never said anything. She, like before, nodded obediently, not adding in a single word.

"Here's your money for the three apples." The mysterious fellow then paid the sum demanded, and then started on the snack. Not having eaten in a while, the brunette eyed the fruit carefully before returning her gaze back to the ground. Pommes weren’t her favourite by a long stretch, but she didn’t really care much at this point. Sure, her power was taste, but it didn’t work very well when she was the intended target, which made sense.

"Hmm, they aren't half bad. Could I have four more, please?" he (for the sake of a pronoun, it sounds kind of… mean) ordered a few more, which inevitably meant the wait time had just lengthened. Rocky didn’t like this too much…

"Oh, by the way... Would you happen to know someone named Michelle Toya?" the figure then asked, rather casually. Wynter immediately gave her head a slight shake, her eyes barely lifting from the ground. Darius, on the other hand, decided to wait for the others to reply before saying anything. In reality, he’d never heard the name in his life, but stayed silent, for now.

He wondered if she saw him. He doubted it. No one ever does. He watched, silently, as a Hydreigon with a girl sat on top of it flew past quickly, a Galvantula hopping between buildings slightly ahead of them. He tapped lightly on the empty space next to him on the bench he was resting on, and his Chandelure appeared, nothing but a faint outline against the dark brick walls. Well, at least to the non believers. Jix pointed his index finger towards the girl, and the Chandelure began frantically waving it's arms.

"You think?" Jix questioned, under his breath. The Chandelure began to bounce up and down, screaming inside of Jix's head.

"YEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYE HER HER" The sound was unbearable, yet somehow Jix had learned to cope. He smiled slightly, and nodded.

"Gyuh gyuh gyuh gyuh... Good." After his accident, Jix's laugh never was quite normal. Chandelure had always found his laugh slightly disturbing... There was something not right about it. Fading back into complete nothingness, Jix was left alone. Standing up and letting out a sigh, he stretched, checking the area around him, before sprinting down the narrow, dark street after the large dragon. His mind was working a mile a minute to project the image of a young child running down the street into the minds of onlookers and passers-by, and he hoped, not just for his sake, that there were no alts stood in with the crowd. He knew he wasn't going to reach the girl on foot; closing his eyes, still running, he focused hard on the image he had of the girl. Using the full extent of his illusionary powers, Jix forced the images of what he witnessed on the day of his parents death into her head, hoping that it would be enough to distract her long enough for him to make the distance.

"Blood blood blood blood blood BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD" was the only word that he could hear. He twitched.

Hell my arm hurt...

I rubbed my shoulder, it really was starting to be bothered by it. I saw one of Zhen's heads looking at me and I just waved my hand at him. I knew I would be fine. We just hit up a quiet place and get it looked at. We were flying on our own for awhile before something started to make my eyes hurt. I blinked and twitched, finding something wrong with them.

Then a vision of black flashed in front of mefor a moment.

What the...did I get a concussion as well?

I didn't remember hitting my head. My head didn't hurt, so I couldn't of hit it. The imges got more terrible and more mortifying...some violent adult...a man...a woman and a slit throat...why was I seeing these? I didn't know that I was shuddering and trying to push nohing out of the way but Zhen did, and I soon felt a bite on my arm.

"Zhen...I'm seeing things. Not good things." I explained.

The only thing I could think of was someone was using visual illusions on me. I sat on Zhen's back, put one of my wrists against the other and concentrated to force back the disturbances to my sight. All they were was images...they were not what I was really seeing. The sounds of the city below helped me not have a massive heart attack but what I was trying not to see, so far, I didn't like it at all. I did my best to push them back but whoever was pushing against me was pushing damn hard. Some images broke through and made me jump, almost scream.

I heard Zhen roar to Shorai, who stopped and came back. I felt a furry claw on the back of my neck and knew my Galvantula had returned to me.

"Alright I've had it..."

Zhen knew what that meant and landed. Shorai seemed to see ahead of time who was giving me these illusions, and bolted for him, just jumping in front of him defensively, give or take ten feet away from him, sparking electricity around his feet. My shiny Hyrdriegon finally saw who was following us and growled threateningly in unison as he stood close to me.

I looked at this character...utterly shocked though, didn't surprise me something that...odd looking was projecting those sorts of images to me. What the hell was that? It was no normal human being. I was now relying on my hearing more than my sight so his image could of just been an illusion as well. seeing wasn't exactly working for me right now.

"Who the hell are you..." I growled.

This is the last time I try to do something nice for any reason whatsoever....

Oh hell... I mentally swore as I saw Rizu's Hydreigon descending in the distance. As Rufus flew over, though, I saw no net covering the Dragon-type 'mon, but instead a young... kid...? An almost-invisible wisp hovered near him. Looking down, I saw Rizu standing, although as if she could barely see anything, and almost went to fly down when my mind caught a brief mental image of a pool of blood, startling me. I knew I was bound to catch some things from some Alts, but this was scary. I'd never felt such concentration, such force behind one's emotions, but I knew at the very least how to shield my own mind from such illusions.

Sweeping down, Rufus slowed as I leapt off pulling out a Heal Ball as I landed and throwing it outward as Rufus took off on a mental command to acquire more help quickly. For now, I was grounded, not daring a smile as Victor emerged from his ball, which returned to me quite quickly.

"Victor, use your Heal Pulse!" I ordered, already preparing to call out Sarah as I got her Pokeball ready. Nodding, Victor basked himself in a small pink aura before one of his tendrils gently made contact with her arm, the other making contact with a minor bite wound, softly sending a soothing sensation through them as the injuries healed steadily. Throwing the pokeball up, my Pikachu jolted out, crossing her arms as she stood near the Galvantula.

"Are you okay, miss?" I asked Rizu, forcing a polite voice while half my mind powered on to maintain the barrier between my senses and his. Staring down at the person, wrapped in bandages and belts, I involuntarily shuddered inside as I froced my outside veneer to stay calm.

Shouting as I drove the metal from my clawed gauntlet into the ice, I grunted in effort in pulling it back out, seeing the lack of cracks in the ice from the impact as my shiny Weavile cut another block clean in two from her Slash. Panting heavily, I walked outside with my Weavile as I caught my breath.

"Okay, Aph, I thinks that's enough training for today." I spoke, calling her back into her Dark Ball, and walking back to my house. Looking over at a TV store, I listened to the news.

"And another irregular storm passed over Castelia City this evening as reports of rampaging pokemon are finding their way to our studio. We are sending several camera crews out to talk with witnesses to the pokemon attack." The reporter announced as I frowed, throwing a Great Ball out as a large Dragonite emerged, flaunting his wings proudly, but stopping once he saw my glare, cowering in his shadow.

"Just take me to Castelia. Chances are they may still be there." I ordered as I let him pick me up and take off from the ground, flying over towards the city as I carefully shifted into a more comfortable position in his grasp, relaxing from my training. As I looked out towards the city, inside I slightly cringed, but burned deeper inside with a desire to capture one of their Zoroarks and find out just what their plan was.

Jix giggled out of controllably upon hearing this. The pins hooked into his skeleton pulled, and he immediately stopped, eyeing the girl up. Protected by a Hydreigon and a Galvantula, she was looking like a force not to be taken to lightly. Nevertheless, he thought he'd give it a chance.

"Who. What. Shh. Gyuh gyuh gyuh... Jix." He said in tortured voice, chuckling as he waved an arm in the air and his Chandelure appeared beside him. A boy swooped down beside the girl on a Pokemon he immediately returned, before sending a Pikachu out to aid her wounds. Jix tilted his head to one side. How did the boy know he was here? With his left eye he focused directly into the onlooking eyes of the newcomer, sending even more violent images his way, all the wile smiling.

Jackpot.

The ridiculous-apple-pricer was good, he had to credit him that much. But his expression faltered ever-so-slightly when he heard the name. He wouldn't be this sure if he only saw him, because it could've been just a mistake. But the girl made it painfully obvious. She obviously didn't have any practice hiding her emotions; he could detect her struggling to not show fear on her face. If he could find his targets every time by just going and buying overpriced apples from strangers, he would have achieved his goal already. It was a shame, really. He'd hoped his target would be some worthless trash, that he could feel satisfaction from kidnapping. She looked like just another innocent, Pokemon-loving girl. Well, whatever; he'll take any job as long as it gave him money. He was a greed incarnate, after all. He didn't give a crap about what will happen after he took her.

Now, it all just came down to how he would do his job. If she wasn't an alt he could have just knocked her out in a matter of seconds with his illusion, but alts were usually resistant to illusions from afar. She would need some type of contact to be hit effectively. If he could get her to just touch his hand... Then he could flee, using his Mismagius and Gengar's Confuse Ray.

"You're a really terrible liar, you know that? I've had a photo of you all along, so you can't fool me." Blatant lie- but lies that can't be confirmed aren't lies. "I was actually hired to find you, actually. If you'll just come closer, I'll show you something that'll explain everything."

The hell...was that...?

I didn't know what I was looking at but I felt I was looking at something that just rose out of hell...Shorai could tell it was sending me the disturbances and it made sense something this dementing would come from...whatever the hell that was. The giggling...that unnerved me so much, and never had I wanted to been away from something so adamantly than that thing.

The visual images I tried to fight back but the sound of that giggling just...made me shudder. Next thing I knew was someone shouting out for people to do something...wait, I knew that voice. I looked and saw that little kid again, and something on my sore shoulder. I quickly rolled it away from whatever was touching it, though it felt ten times better. I saw Shorai look at the Pikachu with a surprised expression, but she only nodded at the fellow electric type and kept staring down the...thing.

I could feel less and less of the images coming to me...but how? I loked at the kid...no he couldn't of been...I didn't want to admit he could of been an Alt...but an Alt of what? A Visual one who was trying ti destabilize the energy of the illusion? No, that couldn't of been it...I felt something inside my head...

'He can't be a mental Alt...'

Whatever it was, I didn't enjoy any of this. I shook my head once and quite hard, in one direction or another every so often, as if something invisible was hitting it.

"Do I LOOK fine?" I snapped at the kid. "You shouldn't be here..."

Shorai was sparking electricity all over and Zhen was growling more and more. this was starting to become torture and I wasn't just going to stand around taking a beating from some demented humanoid.

"Shorai!"

Shorai within an instant let out a powerful Thunderbolt attack towards the humanoid. She wasn't afraid to hurt people for my sake, hell it took her a long time to get her out of the habit of biting people when they so much as looked at me funny. Zhen watched and listened for that chendalure I knew was roaming about...that thing was going to pop out somewhere and I knew it.

This was going to be a long day.

"But, Aki, he looked really upset..." A teenager spoke to a girl dressed in casual wear. She seemed to be wearing pants with a blouse, some brown shirt underneath. Sitting on my Arcanine, I started to feel out of place as I sat in my red shirt and shorts.

"Let me get my shoes and Gothorita before she pitches a fit about being left behind to guard my shoes. Then we'll go look or something." The girl seemed to mutter begrudgingly under her breath before she turned to head towards the Pokemon Center. I gently ushered Samuel forward as the shiny Arcanine padded forward carefully, avoiding bumping into too many people as I yawned lightly.

"Dang, getting tired..." I spoke as I rubbed my eyes lazily, following the two trainers toward the Pokemon Center. "So," I called out with no real reason. "Does anyone know why those Pokemon were rampaging?" I asked, still not fully attuned to use telepathy without considerable effort.

"Great, so now I can't get to where I want to go." I forced through gritting teeth, carefully focusing my willpower at staying calm. After all, overreacting never solved anything. Turning to my Dragonite, he seemed sad that he could not show off his flying skills to people.

"Hey, Ramses, it's okay. It's just a sandstorm. Tell you what, when we come back, you can show off your skills to everyone, okay?" I propositioned as he seemed to perk up instantly. "But!" I stopped him from getting too excited. "We can do it only after this is over. Deal?" I finished, seeing him nod in joy. Smiling myself, I called him back into his pokeball, sighing inwardly. Although he was good for fighting, he always tried to show finesse in it. He was still technically young, though, and so the need for attention was logical.

"Come on out, Aura. I need your help here." I spoke as I tossed an Ultra Ball outward, sending out a shiny Espeon who quickly moved over to my side.

/I can sense Ramses wanted to show off again. I can also sense another few Alternates here. I would recommend against heading towards that area. It's a hot spot there./ I heard her communicate through telepathy.

/I don't know, looks like there's something fun going on there. Might as well enjoy my time here as long as I am forced from going further./ I spoke, more out of want for something to help me relax and take the edge off of my impatience. Walking towards the group, I took care to hide my abilties as an Alternate as well as the sudden chill I got down my spine. Someone here must have been one of them.

"Umm, pardon me?" I meekly cut in to the conversation, gently pushing a large figure in a trenchcoat out of the way as I shifted by. "How much would it be for three apples?" I asked one of the two twins standing in some kinds of outfits. /They must be performers here. Probably Envoys./ I spoke to Aura mentally as I forced myself of maintain a neutral expression, although failing slightly as my forehead subtly began to sweat under the cover of my hair.

"You're a really terrible liar, you know that? I've had a photo of you all along, so you can't fool me." Not that he cared much, but the man couldn’t help be unimpressed with this outburst. This left much assumption the motive wasn’t friendly, which was the Darius vibe picked up. "I was actually hired to find you, actually. If you'll just come closer, I'll show you something that'll explain everything." Any kid with a brain knew the offer was a red flag, but he kept his mouth shut. This was none of his concern.

“Be careful,” Wynter muttered, although only loud enough for Rocky to hear. She hadn’t picked anything too suspicious before this point, only a tinge of uneasiness from the other girl. This feeling was, of course, not a stranger to her.

Darius held back a groan when he noticed another person, this one walked right by him. She appeared to be rather tattered, clothing torn at various points, including the knees of her jeans. He was a little surprised when she spoke in timid tone, reminding the young man of Wynter. "How much would it be for three apples?"

Seems the fruit was a rather popular item, this being the second person drawn to them. Of course, it could easily be assumed that the cloaked figure had noticed his target and simply come for her. That was if he was telling the truth, which it seemed was the case. The blue-eyed girl couldn’t help but notice his voice had been stable the entire time. Her attention was momentarily captured by the green Espeon accompanying the other brunette. However, it soon returned to the mysterious character…

"Seventy-five cents," Sora immediately rattled off, more out of long habit than anything. All at once he noticed different things about her, noticeably the bladed gauntlet on her arm and the fact that she seemed to be wearing vampire fangs. Sheesh, Sora knew that he and his brother tended to attract unusual people, being quite unusual themselves, but this was just getting too weird. A cloaked dude who was hired to kidnap someone, the same someone an unshielded telepath, those two weirdos whom hadn't really said anything yet, and finally this chick who looked as if she could gut someone with that thing on her arm. Ignoring the cloaked person for now, he picked out three apples and held them all in one hand.

:You know,: Rai thought at Miche, :this might go downhill rather quickly.: At his feet, Blitz was eyeing the cloaked stranger distrustfully. :I wouldn't recommend fighting, but we might have to. Actually I would much rather teleport than anything, and we do have the psychic pokemon to do it.:

She calmly turned and started walking down the street, heading for her hotel like she had been before this whole mess started.

"Who's going away?" Keitaro asked, hearing heavy boots fade into the distance.

:The girl who helped us with her Mismagius,: Tsubaki replied. She titled her head and looked down at her trainer. :Would you like to follow the others? I know you're curious.:

"You indulge me," Keitaro replied with a tiny smile. "Let's get back inside, if anything. It's getting chilly out here." He felt a gentle hand in his and let himself be led forward. He barely had to touch Tsubaki's hand to follow her nowadays, and when they enetered the Center he could still sense her nearby despite all the people.

"--know why those Pokemon were rampaging?" A kid next to him was asking. From his tone, he didn't see to be speaking to anyone in particular and was just asking the question to ask something.

Tsubaki sensed more than saw the frown on Keitaro's face. :Are you going to tell him?: she asked. :That blind girl seemed rather angry when you found out what she was.:

Keitaro did not reply to her, but instead stepped to the side. "They weren't rampaaging at all," he replied, remembering where the voice had come from and how close he was. "They were illusions, created by illusionists for whatever reason."

What a joke. This guy obviously didn't get the memo she was a telepath. She had already established he knew nothing about her aside from her name, this mysterious employer either had no more information than he had passed on, or he wanted to test the person he hired. Michelle became aware of another disturbing thought from him--something about taking her out with one touch and escaping. Even if the excuse the would-be kidnapper had just given hadn't been something that would have told anyone with half a brain something funny was up. "I don't know what you're talking about... Besides, if you had a picture of Michelle Toya, you'd know she wasn't me. And with that creepmo vibe and the open admittance you were hired to find somebody, be it me or not, I'm not going near you. And I'm sure in a place like this, people would take a shout for help from a small girl like me very seriously...not to mention my Gardevoir will not hesitate to beat the crap out of a threat if you come near me." She said, pulling her face into a mask of confusion and slight fear, as though she thought the person hired to kidnap her had simply come off his rocker and she only worried about his sanity. She doubted it would deter him much, but it was a stalling tactic, not meant to be a huge fix.

/Careful, Miche.../ Cam warned softly, Miche gave a slight acknowledgement mentally before replying to Rai.

/Things have already gone downhill...I can try to slam him with blindness, but I don't know how well it would work, but it might give more escape time. Cam can use teleport as well, any suggestions as to where the heck we'd go? That aside, running kinda of confirms my identity, and I don't want him to be able to confirm that if I can help it, even if I could make my appearance different to other people to try and hide, though it wouldn't work well on him, so that still doesn't fix the problem very well./ Michelle replied, praying this would resolve itself soon.

/You really do not know? Not even though you bear the feel of an Alt yourself? They were illusions. If you could not tell that, it's rather shameful.../ Musei directed the much more polite version of the thoughts whirling about Aki's head about the boy.

"So...ah, Aki... Do you care to share anything about yourself?" Haru's attempt at conversation was pitiful, and recieved a slightly off sightless glare.

"No, I didn't even feel like sharing my name, but you were annoying me to death so I told you that to shut you up. I don't do the whole socializing and making friends thing." Aki muttered back angrily. Muei turned his attention to the blond boy.

/Forgive her, she has been this way for many years for...past reasons I do not feel my place to explain, but I will reveal it severly diminished her reliance on people...especially those she doesn't know./ The Gallade mentioned helpfully. Haru visibly deflated.

Not bad for an apple, probably worth the price. Chewing it quietly, I shifted away from the man giving me a chill. "Keep the change." I called after swallowing.

This was not his strong suit. What his strong suit was putting a hand on his target and zapping his nerves, or torturing his target until he told the truth. Convincing a teenage girl to follow him was probably the hardest thing he had to do, since he just couldn't understand how their brains worked in their age (disregarding, completely, that he was a teenager himself). He was going to get a bonus for this, maybe 20%? He needed a stupid rise, if he ever got out of here safely. Yet another one joined the party that was already full, and every one of this group of weirdos probably was after something. If he didn't need money...

Still, weren't normal people supposed to be not this suspicious? He was under the opinion that most teenagers were foolhardy and stupid. And being alt shouldn't change that- he was an exception, because he was the exception to every rule. As far as he knew from his experience the girl was just putting up an act, designed to fool him but falling short. There wouldn't be any reason for her to do it; he was just a stranger, a more fitting response wouldn't hide her identity when there are all these people around her.

Then it struck him- what if she was a telepath? As unlikely as it was, it would probably explain why she was denying her identity. If she could read minds, she probably could know his lack of photo of her, and how he was sure of her identity only due to her responses. Plus, his sudden guesses had never been wrong, yet, and he wasn't about to not trust it now.

But if (a big if, here) she really was one, could it mean she could read his past as well? He didn't have much experience with telepaths and wasn't about to risk having his background revealed. Money you could earn back, but he really, really couldn't risk his past being exposed, to anyone. He gritted his teeth- big, big money going down the drain. His first failure in a job would mean damaging his reputation, and he was sure it was going to hurt him big, but he couldn't afford even small chances. He grabbed his Pokeballs and frowned.

"Huh, whatever. I'll be seeing you around then. Mismagius, Gengar. Confuse Ray. Sharpedo, Protect both me and you then Speed Boost to get out of here fast." Obediently, the duo of Ghost-types fired the light at random at the group around them.

This is why I don't like little kids.

Whoever this kid was, was either gutsy or mildly insane. As he told me off I felt like Zhen was going to hit him but now wasn't the time for such things. This kid clearly had no idea who he was talking to. I hoped to keep it that way. I would tell this guy off later but I had an Audino questioning me. I moved my hand back and forth in front of her, trying to shoo her away. I wasn't in the best mood, but I wasn't going to take it out on a Pokemon.

I saw the small spectacle done by this kid's Pikachu, which wasn't half bad but it was too showy for my liking. I could see Shorai felt a bit shown up by that but whatever worked is what we needed. She could feel the disturbances in the kid and gave me a quick spider cry to inform me what was going on, I nodded at her, and got back up on Zhen, who still had his three heads looking around for that other Pokemon I could tell was lingering around.

"Don't you be telling me how to plan my moves out." I told him much after he had said the comment. "You deal with disturbed by leaving it be, and I can't afford another battle right now."

For some odd reason beyond my comprehension I said this next.

"If you're so intent on following me around and trying to 'help' me then I suggest you do the same and vacate the area."

Why I cared about what this kid did I wasn't sure but my arm was still a bit sore, there were creepy people following me, I was jumped by a Zoroark...yeah, definitely not going out of my way to go give indirect assistance. Again.

Sora nearly stiffened as he felt the Espeon touch his mind, but thankfully Rai Jr. was there, glaring at the Espeon before blocking it out of his trainer's head. :Thanks Rai, but you didn't have to do that,: Sora told the Mime Jr.

The tiny pink pokemon sniffed. :Of course I did. As your brother was saying it's rude to intrude upon someone's head.:

The boy would have replied but he noticed something odd about the cloaked figure. Even though his hood covered a good portion of his face, he could see the jaw muscles working in agitation. Something clearly had this guy riled up. :Miche, I don't think he's too happy with you,: he said, straightening to his full height. He felt Rai turn his attention to the man as well, for the first time since the conversation began. Sora clearly saw the figure reach for his pokeballs and instantly felt Rai's alarm when he noticed it too.

"Huh, whatever," the man growled. "I'll be seeing you around then. Mismagius, Gengar. Confuse Ray. Sharpedo --"

"Light Screen!" Sora yelled as the man barely finished his order. It was a good thing too, because the golden barrier that Rai Jr. threw up was immediatly hit by the Confuse Rays fired from the two ghost pokemon.

"Blitz, Thunder Wave the Sharpedo." Rai ordered calmly, stepping around the barrier. The Lightning Pokemon purred and charged up his fur, bluish sparks of electricity dancing across the spikey tips of his collar. The tiny Eeveelution then released the pent up energy in a very narrow wave that had been aimed to miss any passerbys. Of course Rai knew the Sharpedo was using Protect, but he didn't want to harm it, just slam it with a powerful wave of electricity and send it and its trainer flying into the street. his personal farewell gift.

Nina jumped back in alarm as Shi snapped at her, a very rare occurence coming from her usually stoic partner. "I'm sorry," she immediately blurted out, "for upsetting you, I mean. I know it was none of my business but I hate seeing people sad and there's nothing I can do about it." She swallowed and flinched. Great, now she just made Shi mad. Why did she have to go and butt into his personal business? Stupid, stupid!

Siegfried looked form one trainer the other, his little face scrunching into a fierce frown. He mumbled something at them, although it was nothing but pokemon gibberish. Well, to anyone who wasn't Nina. However it didn't take a genius to figure out that the little boy waving his finger back and forth at the both of them was a stern lecture or at the very least a talking-to.

((Little note: Siegfried hates fighting....At least when it somes to arguing between his trainer and trainer's partner. It makes him uneasy. And not sure if Sabi was sending for us or no so I didn't mention Rolland.))

"Seventy-five cents," not hesitating for a moment, the vender responded almost robotically. He gave the customer a good glancing and seemed to await her reply.

"I figure that's per apple." She responded, forking over the money, not before flipping the coins a few time, however. The girl then placed two of her three apples inside her bag, keeping one out to eat now. After taking a good bite from the fruit, she added a "keep the change."

Darius, unlike his companion, did not permit his attention from leaving the cloaked figure. Something was going to happen, it was obvious, and he was certainly not going to be taken off guard. If this shady character planned on attacking them in an escape attempt or something, he’d be ready. Plan ahead, his father had often said.

“I don't know what you're talking about... Besides, if you had a picture of Michelle Toya, you'd know she wasn't me. And with that creepmo vibe and the open admittance you were hired to find somebody, be it me or not, I'm not going near you. And I'm sure in a place like this, people would take a shout for help from a small girl like me very seriously...not to mention my Gardevoir will not hesitate to beat the crap out of a threat if you come near me." The other girl exclaimed, pasting confounded, almost fearful look on her face. Was it fake, maybe, although Darius couldn’t have cared less right now. Admitting her possible move could both be seen as smart and stupid, and there was nothing to do now but await the next move…

"Huh, whatever. I'll be seeing you around then.” The figure started, his tone quickly changing, “Mismagius, Gengar. Confuse Ray. Sharpedo, Protect both me and you then Speed Boost to get out of here fast."

It didn’t take long for the duo to unleash the attacks they’d been commanded, which Darius had, in part, been expecting.

“Rocky! Protect us,” he barked, realising he had no time to reach for his own Pokéball. Finally stimulated, the grey Pokémon clapped her paws, creating a large cyan barrier around the duo. However, it did expand it more, trying to help the others out as well. They had reacted fast enough to save themselves, but there was no telling if the rest of the group was safe…

I padded morosely through the base, many of the scientists, Zoroarks and other members passing me by as I headed straight towards the room of our leader, MiND. Opening the door, I stepped inside as his Zoroark and shiny Alakazam left.

"Sir." I started, kneeling down just inside the room as the door closed. "I'm afraid my Castalia target, Rizu, was impossible to recover. I shall gladly accept whatever punishment you have in store for me. Should I then head out to find our two escaped subjects, NOVA and HERMES?" I asked, looking directly at the floor, the voice in my head surprisingly quiet.

Smiling, a Dewott came out of the Pokeball as I tossed it up. Looking around, I saw the shimmering figure of a Chandelure as Sarah ran back to me, the ground around the disturbed child a field of electrically charged stun mines, every attack having missed him intentionally.

"Daniel! Aqua jet!" I ordered as water surged around his form before he launched forward at top speed, just missing Rizu and hitting the Chandelure dead-on before returning to me as I sent Sarah back into her ball. "Nice shot, but stay alert!"

Nodding, the Dewott returned to his Net Ball as I turned and, picking up Victor, ran towards the edge of the building, launching forward as Rufus arced upwards from underneath, catching my body at the peak of my jump. After Victor returned to his Heal Ball, I angled Rufus back towards Rizu.

"I have to get out of here soon, miss. My barriers aren't going to last too much longer unless I can catch a break, so if you're going to do something, then do it now." I shouted to her, feeling drained by how much effort I was using to keep the barriers up. "By the way, my name is Joseph Rams." I added after a short while.

"Thanks, Mars!" I spoke swiftly, recieving a small grunt in reply. Looking over toward the figure in the trenchcoat, I scowled lightly, realizing he made me drop my apple in that roll.

"I knew something was up with you! Well, then, fine! Come on out, Aph!" I called, dropping my nervous tone and throwing the Dark Ball that then released Aph, the shiny Weavile smirking at the enemies before her. "You know what to do! Attack plan delta!" I ordered as Aph leapt at the Mismagius.

"Rend the shadows, Aph!" I shouted as Aph smiled, slashing across the Mismagius with a strong Shadow Claw. Mars let out a firm grunt under the skull on his head as I took on a serious tone again as everyone else seemed preoccupied, a small Jolteon using a compacted Thunder Wave attack.

He was ready to 'ditch' both his Mismagius and Gengar- they were in this as his accomplices, and were prepared for this, as the worst case scenario. He hoped that they would buy him some time-

Until, of course, that Thunder Wave came along. The stupid rip-off apple seller just sent out his Jolteon and hit his Sharpedo with the move, sending him way back. While everyone else somehow protected from his Confuse Rays. Really, was he getting hit by Karma? He gritted his teeth as he was being knocked backwards along with his Sharpedo. If there was one thing he hated more than anything, now, it was telepaths. But he had to preserve his identity foremost, before anything. It was ridiculous, really, of the employer to not give him a photo, or the information that she was a telepath. He couldn't possibly hope him to succeed with only her name! (Maybe that was the point- but the purpose of having him fail was incomprehensible to him)

It didn't matter, all this. All he had to do is just ignore what happened, keep out of the way of all of those people, and get out of here before anything. And have a chat with his oh-so-mysterious employer. What was the point of getting him to kidnap someone, if failure was inevitable? It would not have mattered if-

Crash.

"What are you doing, just standing there when someone's flying at you?" He very nearly put emotion to his tone, just avoiding showing his anger. He expected the kid to fight back, but he only dropped his eyes and muttered an apology before turning to leave. Strange; he thought teenagers these days (nevermind that he was one) were impulsive and hot-headed. Well, thanks to that teenager, at least he stopped moving. It was somewhat disappointed to let go of his Ghost-types. He would make sure to capture a few more or buy them.

Now, all he needed to do was getting to his employer...

Affected RPers: Chibi and Lati...Moonlight and Sylver are just kinda getting ignored

Everything happened too fast, or maybe Michelle's mind was so confused at this point that it all seemed to happen to fast. She heard the guy knew had been hired to kidnap seem to give up, but him mind whirled with ideas of just the opposite, and she was faintly thankful for her telepathy for once, but he attacked before she could reach any of her pokeballs or think of the words to tell Cam what was going on--but she didn't need to. The Gardevoir seemed to realize it and reacted accordingly, yanking her fairly small trainer backwards ratherforcefully and shoving herself in front of her, while Miche fumbled for a pokeball and tossed it behind her, something to catch her fall--and suddenly small, clawed hands were there, holding her up.

/Boss Lady okay?/ Miche caught her lips twitching up slightly as the gruff voice that could be described as "classic mobster" filled her mind, he might have been a Krookodile and therefore a dark type, but she had developed a specific telepathic link with her pokemon, and he knew he could direct thoughts to her and they would pretty much make sense.

"Yes Hook, thank you. Cam! Use--!" Michelle was stopped cold by the fact that the twins had come to her rescue and something--she hadn't caught just what since her attention for the past few moments had been more focused on trying to not hit the ground--had knocked the guy back and now he seemed to be retreating.

/Dirty Rattata-coward! Attacks Boss Lady and leaves at sign of rough fight! Hook would--/ Michelle was startled by the anger that rolled off her Krookodile, and quickly strove to calm it.

"Hook, that's quite enough. I am fine, that is all that matters, isn't it?" She asked, the first part was stern, then melted into soothing tones towards the end. Slowly, the larger pokemon lowered his trainer to her feet and turned her slightly so he could see her. Dark eyes travelled over her, peering out of darkness and down a long, narrow snout. She heard him take in a few deep sniffs as the Krookodile looked over, and knew he accepted her as alright when he let a puff of hot, dry air out of his snout at her, blowing her hair back slightly.

/Yes, dirty Rattata-coard did not hurt Boss Lady. That is good. If he tries to hurt Boss-Lady again, though, Hook will tear dirty Rattata-coward to shreds!/ Michelle patted the end of Hook's snout gently.

"I am quite sure that Ironfist will have you beaten on that matter, Hook." She said with a smile as she said 'Ironfist', which was Hook-lingo for Cam. Then she turned to Rai and sighed. "It appears he is gone for now...I am not sure if he will give up or not, and most of what you did was probably for your protection more than my own...but thank you for protecting me while I was, ah...unable. However it seems the attacker has left his pokemon behind. Camellia," The Gardevoir's name was growled thought Michelle's teeth. "incapacitate them." She said sharply, and Cam obeyed with a slight bow of her head before her eyes lit up and the Mismagus and Gengar were suddenly surrounded by a faint blue glow and brutally slammed to the ground where they were pinned. "It appears that 'dirty Rattata-coward' as my Krookodile has taken to calling our mysterious attacker does not seem to be coming back for this duo, what should be done with them?"

/The mirror men protected Boss Lady?/

"Yes, Hook." Miche murmured, turning her eyes back to the hulking form of her body guard Krookodile.

/Give them thanks from Hook./

/My Krookodile, Hook, requested that I gave the 'mirror men' as I think he's already taken to calling you his thanks for protecting me as well./ Michelle directed the thought at the twins.

"You might be blind, but I am not deaf." He said bluntly, but Aki payed it no mind, stopping and turning her head to him with and expression more of slight annoyance than anything else.

"Where is it that they went? You wanted to check on them, you're gonna have to show me where we're going. You lead, I'll follow." She said before turning to Keitaro and Zen.

/It is not so dangerous. I am a Gallade, a pokemon who was born psychic. If I can take my trainer's thoughts into my head, I can surely take in yours so it should not be so hard./ Musei replied simply.

"Well, if you decided you were going to come along, you might come out and say it rather than stalk us." Her voice had become rather cold upon the comment, causing Haru to look incredibly uncomfortable, but he did not speak.

In a way, he had grown used to a life revolving around keeping Nina happy and keeping his own emotions repressed, but he did feel for her. She was about the only companion he had aside from his pokemon and the only person he had really gotten to know. Lillie ran her fingers through his hair again, chattering softly back to Siegfreid in a reply he didn't quite understand, but she was obviously trying to both defend her companion and apologize at the same time. He really did feel bad about upsetting both her, but feeling bad would have to wait, it appeared. ROlland's shiny Alakazam appeared before them, and Shi nodded, wordleslly knowing exactly what was wanted. "Volcan," He called, softly still. The Blaziken didn't need much else, he came to stand shoulder to shoulder with his trainer, and they waited for Nina before the Alakazam seemed to nod and there was a flash and a moment of weightlessness before the group stood before Rolland himself.

"You wanted us, Sir?" The guilt and emotion that had filled Shinichi in the moments before was no longer there, replaced by a cold, emotionless mask in front of his boss. "We also brought the girl you requested."

"Aph, come here. Mars, stay ready." I called, lowering my voice on the second part. Aph quickly nodded and returned to my side, standing next to Mars as he merely stared forward, his larger-than-average bone club resting on his shoulder, prepared to attack if need be.

"It appears that 'dirty Rattata-coward' as my Krookodile has taken to calling our mysterious attacker, does not seem to be coming back for this duo, what should be done with them?" I heard thw girl that just moments ago denied being Michelle Toya speak. Walking over, my pokemon following, I stopped as my eye caught a pair of pokeballs in their miniature forms some distance away.

"I'll take them from here. I have a contact who can help pokemon deal with the shock of being abandoned. And even if they aren't in shock, it's probably better than whatever else could happen." I spoke, before calling the Gengar and Mismagius into their pokeballs and then slipping the two capsule into my pocket.

"Would anyone like to explain just what the hell happened and who that person was?" I asked in a darker voice, the air slowly filling with the scent of volcanic ash. "I am not good in too much conversation when someone tries to disorient me, so please, excuse my bluntness." I added, dropping any semblance of a kind tone and moving to a darker, grim tone. Wow. Rai looked the Krookodile up and down and decided that it was one pokemon that he did not want to have angry with him. While he was sure that a few of his pokemon could take it down, he really did not want to have to fight that thing. Luckily for him however, he seemed to have earned its good graces. Miche stepped up to him after calming the angry pokemon down and said, ""It appears he is gone for now...I am not sure if he will give up or not, and most of what you did was probably for your protection more than my own...but thank you for protecting me while I was, ah...unable. However it seems the attacker has left his pokemon behind. Camellia, incapacitate them."

Both of the twins raised an eyebrow as her Gardevoir swiftly dealt with the Gengar and Mismagius that had not yet run away. "It was nothing." Rai said with a charming smile.

"We don't need to look after just ourselves," Sora added, turning with Rai Jr. to smile at her.

"Protecting innocent people is also a bonus." Rai looked at the Krookodile once again. "However, with that--"

"--big beast--"

"--it seems to us--"

"--that you didn't need as much protecting as we thought." The twins finished in unison. Sora then burst out laughing. "Oh, Leena would love you," he said with a huge grin.

Rai stiffened in alarm. "Oh brother, please don't say things like that," he nearly begged.

Sora tilted his head in confusion. :Why?: he asked, :they would get along perfectly!:

:That's the problem,: Rai answered. He noticed Miche looking him in the eyes (which was quite rare, sinc ehe knew the effect they had on people) and suddnely hear dher voice in his head. :My Krookodile, Hook, requested that I gave the 'mirror men' as I think he's already taken to calling you his thanks for protecting me as well,: she said, her thoughts colored yellow from amusement.

:Mirror men?: The twins thought in unison. :That's new.:

For a minute they had forgotten that the others nearby even existed, but the girl with the odd arm bracer soon made her presence known again. She stepped up to them, her face an angry thundercloud. "Would anyone like to explain just what the hell happened and who that person was?" She snapped in an irritated tone, her eyes flicking back and forth between them. "I am not good in too much conversation when someone tries to disorient me, so please, excuse my bluntness." Her tone said that she was not sorry in any way, however.

:Do you smell that?: Sora suddenly asked his twin.

:What?: Rai said, knowing that his brother's sense of smell was far superior to his.

:It smells hot. Like sulfur.: Sora replied, screwing up his face a little.

Since thoughts traveled much more quickly than sound, their conversation barely lasted a second. "Especially you, miss 'I'm-not-Michelle Toya'." The unknown woman continued. "What did this person do or say before I got here?"

The brohter's hated her tone and her words. Really they hated authority figures of any kind, and since this woman was obviously no cop of any kind then she really had no right to talk to any of them like that. "The last time wee checked--" Sora growled.

Rolland turned back around promptly as his Alakazam brought the very pair he wanted to talk to into his office. He held his arms behind his back and looked at both of them, listening to what they had to say.

"Good good. Please have her sent to her room before you go on your next task." Rolland replied. Michelle frowned. "Ah, you seemed to miss the part where Camellia kind of threw me. Hook was more of a catch tactic, although he is pretty upset, as you can see. And still, thnk you. And who is this Leena person?" She smiled as she got their responses to Hook's nickname. /It's a Hook thing. Everyone has a nickname. I'm Boss Lady, Cam is Ironfist, my Musharna, Eva, is referred to as Floaty Pink One...or simply Floaty...some are better, some are worse./ The humor she found in Eva's nickname carried across the mental link, as she found it rather hilarious even though her Musharna did not. Things were going pretty calmly in the aftermath when the newest memeber of the group surrounding the twins came fourth, obviously angry. Michelle wrinkled at the acrid smell that filled her nostrils faintly, and Hook moved closer to her, as did Cam.

The woman demanded to know what was going on, what had been said before she had showed up, and seemed pretty angry at her specifically, referring to her as 'Miss I'm-not-Michelle-Toya', which earned her a snarl from Hook that Miche put an end to with a very firm "Hook!" as the twins came to her defense yet again. When they finished, she looked at the woman and smiled politely. "I am sorry, but as my friends here have stated, it is really none of your business. You happened to come into the wrong situation at the wrong time, but that does not make it your job to interrogate me or even ask anything about it. As far as you should be concerned, the man who just left can be considered a madman and you should probably leave without further thought of it, except maybe to take care of those pokemon." The words came out surprisingly well-mannered and her voice never raised in anger. Her tone never deviated from a soft, polite conversational tone, as though she were discussing the weather with the woman rather than telling her to mind her own business and go away. That was the upside of being from a wealthy family, you learned how to tell someone off without ever sounding nasty or rude. It was about the only thing she had ever had any use for from her home in Lilycove.

Shi nodded as Rolland spoke, then turned to his Blaziken. "Volcan, you heard him." He said softly, and the Blaziken left with a sharp nod. Shi released his illusionary powers on the girl finally, noticing that she'd passed out at some point. His attention snapped back to the matter at hand when Rolland began to speak again about their new mission. Everything was fine, but only until he spoke that last sentence. Outside source? Okay, he could deal with that. And even if he couldn't Nina could...though he really didn't want to deal with Dark Nina if he didn't have to. It was so much easier to keep Nina content and avoid all issues, though all newbies had to make mistakes... And an unhappy Nina just once prevented most from ever happening again. It might have sounded twisted, as he really had come to care for her slightly as his partner and about the only person he could talk to around here aside from Rolland, who was strictly business, but it was something about his partner he knew could come in handy in certain situations...just not very many. Okay, he had more pokemon to command. That wasn't a problem, Rolland's pokemon tended to know what they were doning and didn't often need instruction anyway. It was just that name...

Michelle Toya... Don't I know her? The moment her name left Rolland's mouth, Shi locked up. Lillie's eyes filled with worry, but she hid them by burying her face in Shi's shoulder. The little Zorua didn't know exactly what was going on, but she could tell it was bad when his breath caught for a moment before he sucked in as much air as could fill his lungs, like he had been punched. But...I don't know anyone but who I've met since I woke up. She's not here, so I can't know her...can I? That's ridiculous, why does that name sound so familiar? Lillie cringed as she heard the air whistle out between Shi's teeth and one hand shot to his head as though something had hit him there. Lillie stifled back a whine, and reached up to rub his head gently. Or did I know her...?

A phantom laugh sounded in his ears, as he squeezed his eyes shut he saw he was surrounded by forest(OOC: YESH, Shi is so ninja that he can see with his eyes closed!!! Actually he's having a mini memory attack...expect a larger scale one when he sees the girl herself). A Zoroark sat not too far away from him, appearing to be smiling, while a younger, brunette-headed girl with ponytails had a fistful of his jacket in one hand and was trying to clap in spite of it."Little sister," He heard himself sigh "just let it go. You're going to ruin my hoodie." He complained, and the girl laughed again, drawing his attention to her. He looked up as she spoke.

"Wonderful, Shinichi, you're such a good teacher!" She mocked playfully. "First you tell me how abysmal my skills are, even though I'm new at this, and then the next moment you're complaining about Little Sister messing up your hoodie! How am I supposed to become a better Alt with a teacher like you?" Those slanted, almond-shaped green eyes framed by mahogany hair and the size of the girl herself hit him hardest. She was tiny, frail, but he knew she was older than she looked but how old...? It was slipping away from him now. No! Don't...! When was this...?

"I'm not your teacher, who ever said that? Mother...try...to see...train you! ...her job, not mine!" The words he heard himself speak jokingly sounded asthough they came through water, slurring and fading until he could hear no more, and as the voices faded so did the image behind his eyes. It stayed on the tiny, smiling girl until it disappeared entirely, and the pain in his head ebbed into a dull throb.

"Sorry, sir, headache...but don't worry, it won't set us back. Might I ask what this other we're looking for looks like or goes by?" He asked, fighting to keep the deadpan and that mask of cool expressionlessness on and not let aanyone see any part of what had just happened. He just hoped Rolland didn't decide to change his demeanor and get all worried on him now.

OOC: Yay for polite tell-offs! And please note Shi's little flashback didn't take but a moment of two in reality.

I stood still as the two brothers told me off, alternating some lines as well as simultaneously speaking, followed by Michelle with a similar remark. It had been a fair while since someone had the wherewithal to actually tell me off, let alone twins with such a smug attitude and some girl who had overreacted in defending herself in conversation.

"Why you little-" I started to fume, the sharpened metal claws on my gauntlet reflecting the light as my fingers spread out slightly and curved, before I felt Mars stop me with his bone club. "Mars, what are you doing?" I almost yelled as the volcanic ash odor started to grow pungent. He replied with a light glare at me, which unsettled me. In the many years he has been on my team, he has never once glared at me until now.

/Mistress, please leave them be. They're not worth it./ Aura asked through telepathy as Aph stood in front of me, looking straight ahead. Mentally cursing myself for the next few moments, I finally sighed in defeat before realizing the smell I was projecting into the air. Quickly shaking my head, it vanished and was soon replaced with one I deemed much nicer, the smell of freshly-picked mint. "You are right, you three..." I muttered under my breath to my pokemon before turning to face the twins first.

"You're right, it is your stand, but I'm afraid she-" I paused, waving towards Michelle. "-may not have a choice if that man was affiliated with who I think he is. Please accept my apologies for my behavior." I spoke curteously, forcing myself to bow slightly as I swallowed my pride. "I will leave you here if you truly wish, but I pray that what happened to me those some years ago do not befall her as well." I added, turning and picking up two Dark Balls on the ground. Reaching out, the two pokemon who formerly belonged to the person in the coat were beamed into the two spheres.

"I'll take these two to a contact of mine who deals in rehabilitating pokemon. He's never failed me before." I spoke, starting to walk off, Aura and Aph following immediately, Mars staying behind for a moment. The Marowak let out a sharp grunt and a slight nod as I looked back at him and, hefting the larger-than-average bone club onto his shoulder, started following me and my two shiny pokemon, slowly catching up to us.

"Y-yes, sir!" I barked at his order, bowing humbly and dashing out the door and down the hallways, leaping off walls at the corners to keep my speed as I ran towards the science wing, stopping slightly as a young man walked by, bandages covering his arms from elbow to knuckle.

"Stopping by for your routine, Richter?" I asked him curiously. I hardly saw him at the base.

"Actually, they called me in." He replied, startling me. "The check-up is just coincidence. Sent me out to find some kid in Nimbasa. MIchelle Toya, I heard her name was. But hell, I imagine he has several people working at nabbing more. You still trying to find NOVA?"

"That is my current mission. Once you finish with yours, you're free to join me. I have a lead that tells me NOVA is somewhere in Castelia. I was about to get information about her from the doctors here." I replied.

"Ahh, I remember. You study the target from whatever info you and our contacts can scrounge up. Anyway, I guess this one time, I'll help you out. See you in Castelia, Zoro." He called, walking away as I cringed inwardly at his nickname for my kind. Sighing and shrugging it off, I turned and continued along my way to the scientists' laboratories to gather information.

"But that's a story for another time. What're your names?" I asked Aki and her companion as Samuel bounded up to them, slowing to his regular pace just behind them. Rai noticed the anger in her eyes and was ready to command Blitz to defend them again, but one of her pokemon stopped her. It was a Marowak and from its expression it seemed to be warmning her of something. Finally she turned to them and started to apologize, although the twins could tell it was a reluctant one.

"Nothing will happen to her," Sora said, his voice firm.

"We shall see to that." Rai said after him, keeping his hypnotic eyes on the woman until she started to walk away. While she may (or may not) have had their best interests at heart, her introduction to them set him off on the entire wrong foot.

The moment she was out of earshot Sora turned around and gave Miche one of his wide grins. "Sweet name, Ironfist." He said, nodding to Cam. Reminded him of the antics he sometimes played with his brother, such as naming their poekmon after the other to poke fun at them. Rai Jr. looked up from his perch and gave Sora a look that said he knew exactly what his master was thinking. "And Eileen is my Steelix," he went on, unclipping and enlarging a Heavy Ball from his belt to show her. "I would let you see her, but this place is far too crowded."

"And we do not need and unpredictable, 30-foot, half-ton giant metal snake running through Nimbasa," Rai added, narrowing his eyes at the ball in Sora's hand as if daring him to open it.

"Snakes can't run," Sora replied with a cheeky grin and placed the ball back on his belt.

"You know what I mean," Rai said, rolling his eyes. He looked around for a bit as if searching for more people who were intent on bugging them and turned back to Miche. "We'll have to pack up our stand in a minute, but then we can go somewhere else to talk. Do you have a place that's comfortable to you?"

She heard a mental sigh. :Yes, you're right. However she just has to know that I'm not leaving.: Just then someone addressed him by name, turning him away from the conversation. His eyebrow rose and even though his eyes were closed his still managed to look mildly surprised. "No, I cannot," he said, his voice pleasant once more. "In fact I can't see at all. It would be nice to visit her old haunts. The moment didn't last long, because Shi suddenly sucked in a breath as if he had just been hit, causing Nina and Siegfried to turn in alarm. His name rose and died in her throat and she reached out a hand to lay it gently on his arm. "Shi?" She asked as he rubbed his head.

For a moment his eyes stayed shut in what may hae been pain, but when he opened them again the cool facade had slipped back into place. "Sorry, sir, headache..." he said calmly, as if it had just been a mere distraction rather than somehting that had just caused him to freak out for a second. Nina didn't believe a word of it, simply because Shi never got headaches. "But don't worry, it won't set us back. Might I ask what this other we're looking for looks like or goes by?"

As the shock passed Nina realized that her hand was still on his arm and she jerked it back as if she had just been burned. Siegfried giggled, but there was a certain tone to it that Nina knew meant that her little Zorua friend had not forgotten about Shi. "Is there an appointment set up with this outside source?" Wynter Kanon and Darius Chestnut
Envoys of Taste and Sight
Nimbasa City
Affected RPers: Winter_Cherry, Enkaku_Kumori, Sylver

So, it seemed, this group of people were quiet capable of taking care of themselves. Their efforts downed the shady character’s two ghosts, which had been abandoned at the scene. Wynter was bothered by the unknown figure’s action of leaving them. No loyalties, no cares, no attachment to his Pokémon whatsoever. To Darius, this was a pretty good test of character, and he casually committed the event to memory. He had a feeling this wouldn’t be the last time they ran into the hooded fellow, a little to his dismay. However, the man quickly brushed the sentiment to the side, ignoring it for now.

Wynter’s focus had now left the group. She had no business speaking up, heck; the girl really didn’t know why they were even here. As before, the brunette made no effort in figuring out why, this question being, in her opinion, out of her jurisdiction. Almost doll-like, Wynter simply stood still, waiting for the next development.

It was mention of the abandoned Pokémon that managed to draw her focus back to the others. Reluctantly, she lifted her head, momentarily meeting the tougher looking girl’s eye before withdrawing optically.

Darius stated seemingly blankly; none of them had an opportunity to give their opinion, as the ghosts were placed inside the Pokéballs. Not that he could say much now, rebutting would draw unnecessary (negative) attention, especially since she hadn’t attracted any other reactions… yet anyway.

"Would anyone like to explain just what the hell happened and who that person was?" the tattered female asked, almost out of nowhere. Her tone lacked the softness present last time, this edgier. He couldn’t really see her face too well, but guessed it had probably taken a darker twist.

Wynter braced herself again, the slight stench of smokiness irritating her nose. Had it been there last time?

Darius, however, didn't seem to detect it, and continued on listening.

"I am not good in too much conversation when someone tries to disorient me, so please, excuse my bluntness." The girl continued, this time, no traces of the meek one she’d used before could be detected. “Especially you, miss 'I'm-not-Michelle Toya'. What did this person do or say before I got here?"

"The last time wee checked--" one of the twins started, obviously displeased with what he heard.

"--this was our stand." His brother concluded, taking a stand beside him. Strength in numbers…

"We would appreciate it if you would leave. We do not have to tell you anything about anyone, and neither does she." They seemed quite protective of this Michelle Toya. Wynter couldn’t help a slight smile as they pointed toward the girl in question.

Her Pokémon too seemed to take the aggressive behaviour in a bad way, giving off a slight growling. This was met with a sturdy word, its nickname.

"I am sorry, but as my friends here have stated, it is really none of your business. You happened to come into the wrong situation at the wrong time, but that does not make it your job to interrogate me or even ask anything about it. As far as you should be concerned, the man who just left can be considered a madman and you should probably leave without further thought of it, except maybe to take care of those pokemon." She added, never veering off a calm, cool pitch. Darius seemed pleased, although didn’t really show it.

This, however, only seemed to make the other girl angrier. "Why you little-" she snapped, but was interrupted by her own Pokémon, a Marowak. The smell had grown worse, although, after a few moments of this, seemed to grow weaker. Wynter curiously wondered why...

In her entire apology, Wynter seemed to cling onto one sentence in particular. "I will leave you here if you truly wish, but I pray that what happened to me those some years ago do not befall her as well.” What… could that mean? After adding a phrase about that contact, she was on her way, only to be met with the twins’ reassurance.

Well… this had been a rather useless sequence. At this point, those boys would probably respond poorly to any sort of questioning. He had an easy way out, and a little to his annoyance, knew he’d probably have to use it. Wynter noticed Darius’s face darken, although to anybody else, this would be almost impossible to spot. This hadn’t turned his way… at all…

“Sorry to bother you after all this, but I was wondering when the next show might be? My cousin is only in town briefly, and she would like to see your show” he inquired, monotone as ever. The man had contemplated adding that seemingly needless detail, although it might serve to make having waited here thru all that a bit more realistic.

Rocky, on the other hand, had enough of standing around like an object. She decided to go and see that tougher girl’s Pokémon…

I heard the two twins eagerly reassure me as I shook my head to myself. Confident fools was what they were, but at least they knew just what to say. I laughed lightly and walked on, my hopes high that their words would stay true, but ultimately low to the ground. Alternates tended to band together in tough times, just as Non-Alts did. Fat lot of good it did me, though.

Aph was the first to poke me with her claw, pointing to a Minccino moving up towards my group. I had easily recognized it as the one belonging to the silent girl that seemed to react the most to my enhanced abilities, as well as the first one I made proper eye contact with.

"Well, hello, there." I spoke soflty, crouching down. Curse my weakness for small fuzzy things. "What do you want, little Minccino?" I asked. "Aura, can you translate for me?" I added.

/Yes, Mistress./ She replied calmly.

/I told you to just call me Shel./ I reminded her.

/I know./ She smirked, knowing how it irked me, before turning her attention to the Minccino. "[Hello, there, Minccino. My name is Aura. This is my Trainer, Shel. The Weavile is Aphrodite...]" She began, signaling to me and then Aph with her tail.

"[Shorten it to Aph.]" Aph replied in her own Poketongue.

"[...and the Marowak is Mars.]" Aura finished the introductions of all presently active Pokemon. Mars replied with a light grunt and a shrug, resting his bone weapon on his shoulder with relative ease.

"[My Trainer wishes to know what you are doing here.]" Aura explained finally, sitting down on her hind legs and calmly waiting for a reply as Aph turned away and Mars looked up to the sky.

Damn kids these days.

My arm, was still sore but better thanks to that kid's Audino. Shorai went and scouted around a bit, only to come back with a report that the same kid was a floor below us, completely out of it. Wonderful, I had a stalker. Uhg. Regardless, I knew that somewhere in the world of karma, it would be bad points against me if I didn't return the favor.

"People needs to leve me alone...I need to leave them alone."

I sat there for awhile, feeling the evening drawing closer. I stared out one of the windows, knowing that any minute there would be some guard lokoing around to make sure no one was going to ran sack the building for the copper wiring. Zhen's heads looked around in all directions while Shorai kept looking down below, watching the kid to make sure he didn't try anything funny. I groaned, standing up and letting open one of my Pokeballs. Out popped Sonja, who flapped about happily, though knew something had just happened. I looked down at my sweater, noticing it was rather scuffed up.

"Long story Sonja. Look, theres a kid down on the floor below...go pick him up and we'll take him with us up to our roof."

The bat clearly seemed confused for a moment, but then I saw a smile on her face. I returned Zhen to his container, climbing on Shorai's back s she prepared to jump out the window. There wasn't anything quite lik hoding onto the back of a large fluffy insect and jumping between buildings like you owned the place. It calmed me down. I looked back when Shorai stopped, hanging off of her like some kind of parasite. I could see Sonja talking to the kid's other Pokemon and explaining what was going on.

"Personally, I prefer misleading people. I get less attention brought to me and no one will bother me about 'Oh, poor thing! Do you need this? Do you need help with that?' My Musei is very much capable of helping me, thank you, if I cannot do something. And it's amazing just how much I'm capable of without help." Nina nodded to Rolland, noticing that Shi seemed to be contemplating something. "Yes sir," she said simply. With that she turned and left, knowing that Shi and Rolland's Zoroark were right behind her. Nimbasa City...it had once been a second home to her. With all of the performers and entertainers, a ballet dancer had fit right into the norm perfectly. Of course that had been a long time ago. But it had been a while since she had last danced.

She remembered her last performance, and then her...teacher had showed up. She swallowed nervously and clasped her hands in front of her to stop them from shaking. The mere thought of the Zoroark that had turned her life into a living hell for two years both terrified her and enraged her. A dark part of her mind chuckled, remembering the sweet taste of victory when she had finally killed him.

A tug on her ponytail caused her to look at Siegfried, who was staring at her worriedly form over her shoulder. He touched her face, crooning a question. "It's alright," she assured him, patting his head. Her palms felt sweaty.

From the frown on Siegfried's face, he obviously didn't believe her. Being her friend for a long time and being sensitive to emotions as well, he could tell when Nina was upset even if she didn't show it. He murmured again and then pointed back, and she noticed that she had almost walked right by Rolland's Alakazam. She paused and placed her hands behind her back, knowing that the pokemon rarely needed a verbal command to take them where they needed to go.

It would be a lie if Rocky said she was expecting the reaction given. The tougher looking girl had actually lowered herself, speaking in a gentle voice. Her Pokémon also appeared to be friendly, with the Espeon giving her teammates introductions.

"[...and the Marowak is Mars.]" The psychic type concluded, to which Mars only added a grumble and shrug. This, Rocky didn’t know how to interpret, but decided to look it over, for now at least.

The Minccino cutely twitched her ear, preparing herself to reply and in turn, introduce herself. However, before she could even utter a word, was interrupted.

“I’m sorry Rocky bothered you,” Wynter apologised, cutting into the conversation. Her tone was soft and submissive, a little more so then usual. “She’s a social Butterfree,” the girl added, speaking slightly slower as she gazed down at her Pokémon.

Darius, although he’d noticed the mischievous Chinchilla dash off, didn’t concern himself with it. He, instead, awaited his answer. Not that it really mattered whether or not he received one; it would be very rude to just walk off now. Honestly, he really didn’t care, but knew that a bad reputation could be a killer later on. The twins continued to talk with the girl, what they were saying exactly, Darius wasn’t paying it much attention….

“I’m sorry Rocky bothered you,” What must have been the Minccino's trainer apologised, cutting into the conversation Aura was having. Her tone was soft and submissive, something that intrigued me. “She’s a social Butterfree,” the girl added, speaking slightly slower as she gazed down at her Pokémon.

"It's no problem, really. If your Minccino went to attack, we'd have a problem. But I am interested in how you raised it. You see, I had to deal with a few troublesome cases with y pokemon as well." I spoke, carefully draping my arm with the clawed gauntlet over her shoulders and leaning in, speaking in a lower volume. "Take Aph, for example. I had to deal with her high-and-mighty attitude several times before she finally grew some respect for me. Since then, we've been a good team."

"[Shel always thinks fast on her feet. So, your name is Rocky? Interesting name. So, what were you doing here, anyway?]" Aura asked the Minccino in their tongue, taking advantage of my distraction.

My own rest was interrupted by this Swoobat flitting about near me, talking almost as fast as its wings flapped. Naturally, I was adept at picking out the useful parts and condensing them into a solid message. They needed to move my trainer due to some guard patrolling the floors, apparently. Glancing at the bat and its trainer on a Galvantula suspiciously, I slowly stood and moved over, allowing the bat access to my trainer's sleeping form, but not enough room to attack if foul play was involved. Glancing down, I saw he was in peaceful sleep, chest rising and falling in a slow, steady rhythm as he breathed.

"[You may go about your business, but be aware that I will not tolerate any foul tricks here.]" I spoke with all the authority I could muster, waiting to see what would happen.

It was a little hard for me to process all this on my tiring mind. Apparently, Aki was angry for some reason, her Gallade Musei seemed to be a part of it. Haru and Keitaro introduced themselves cheerfully and simply, which brought my smile back and then Keitaro asked said something about "the blind leading the blind" with irony intended.

"Well, I thought we were following that girl on the Hydreigon and the guy on the Unfezant, right?" I asked firmly, despite my fatigue, to all of them.

Walking in, I cursed myself lightly at accepting the offer from Hal Richter for a ride. While it did help and I managed to snag one of his encrypted phones, I swore lightly to myself during my travel through that blasted sandstorm. Now it would take me days to clean my pelt! Days of being covered in filthy sand! Not even my trenchcoat did much to stop it!

Grumbling to myself, I walked by a rather suspicious couple, too angry to care how close they were or the aura's they gave off, revealing their nature as Alternates, along with some of the crowd in the gate. All I could care for right now would be finding a place to sleep for the night.

Then again... Finding Rizu could help as well... Good thing I also gathered information on her as well as those two subjects. All of their routines and traveling tendencies

I sighed happily at the memories of this city when I was younger. Before it turned into this swirling vortex of greed that one day will rival Black City. But hey, greed meant people cared less for others, and our job was easier. Climbing off my motorcycle, I pushed open the back door to an old, run-down building, broken and boarded windows, splintering wood doors, and filthy, ruined red velvet carpets inside.

This place felt like home every time I visited. I would come here and sit in the same seat and relive my memories of this place, the memories of before this great ballet studio had been run down due to a simple pokemon mimicking its trainer, the event that started the so-called Pokemon Musicals. Chuckling lightly, I kept walking by in the abandoned and rotting building and walked down the aisles of seats, up to the front, where one seat had been kept tidy. I sat down and sighed, the memories of the performances here something to behold.

"It feels good to be home." I muttured, sitting down as my fingers twirled lightly in the air. I don't care what happens, so long as I find the target as usual. I would just sit here until I felt it was time to go find the target, just like Rolland said. Of course, my methods were questionable to all the others, but I get the job done all the same.

"Well it's not really the blind leading the blind since I'm the one leading, but we're following those two from earlier." Haru piped up brightly.

"I'm not exactly a people person, if you haven't noticed, and I'm a pretty good actor, not to mention I have my ways of getting around. I don't need help too often, and even when I need it I don't really want it." Aki replied to Keitaro, closing her eyes and concentrating on the way the world shaped itself in her head from her "echo-location" for a moment. The city shaped itself in a almost glowing 3D-esque model.

/You're not going to tell them--?/ Musei asked, only to get cut off by Aki's response.

/If she hasn't thought of it, I'm not going to suggest it. I'm not sure he'd be able to learn anyway, I was young when you taught me, and even then, it was a pain to master, remember? I think the fact I'm a touch alt finally perfected it./ She thought back.

/Or influenced what kind of alt you became./ Musei replied smugly.

/Whatever. I'm not going to mention it./

Michelle smiled at the twins, somewhat amused at their laughter and how it blended together so well. She listened to them, grimacing as they talked about Nimbasa being great. /Not so great when you're a sponge telepath like me. too many people, too loud in my head./ She admitted before shrugging and looking to the others who had been waiting. "Maybe you should talk to them before we go, you guys pick, I don't really care where we go as long as it doesn't have too many people." She suggested, returning Hook to his pokeball. Cam moved back to draping herself over Michelle's shoulders calmly, it seemed the danger had passed.
