It was a perfect day in the park: the sun was shining down, trainers were playing with their Pokemon, and the clear water in the pool was rippling and gleaming. I was enjoying the scenery - and I was about to enjoy a nice, lovely battle.

Mizuki Emi and Foxamivalth were about to face off. Fox chose his battler first: a large, blue sea turtle with a graceful, sinewy body and a serene smile. Mizuki Emi chose - strangely enough - a fluffy white insect that looked suspiciously like a certain flying bison in a certain show, in which children with odd powers save the world and angst a little. I was madly curious about Emi's choice, and I parked my keister in a park bench. This would be good.

Round One

Lapras landed in the pool with a splash, turning quickly in the water to size up her opponent. In truth the bug was pitifully disadvantaged, and Lapras wasn't too keen on fighting someone so much weaker than herself. But she was less keen on disappointing her Trainer. She lifted her head, opening her jaws and spraying up water, forming a compact ball of H2O. With a swing of her neck she shot this ball at Larvesta. The little bug squealed in pain as the ball morphed into a ring that surrounded him, trapping him in a swirling wave that battered him incessantly.
[Whirlpool: Lapras, -2% Energy; Larvesta, -8% HP]

Larvesta was quite displeased at having to face such a strong opponent, but he refused to be beaten easily. He began to dredge up bilious c hemicals from his insides, throwing them together in a revolting toxic slurry. This slurry he sent flying at Lapras, who let out a yelp as the sickly green poison sank into her skin and then her veins. She shuddered as the toxins flooded her system.
[Toxic: Larvesta, -6% Energy]

Now Larvesta lifted his head to the sky. It was a sunny day, yes, but surely the sun could be doing more, working harder? The tips of the odd red prongs on his body glowed orange, forming spheres of heat energy on them. Larvesta shot the spheres at the sun, sending them shooting into the sky. The result was a subtle, local magnification of the sun's heat, which would make Lapras's annoying water moves less effective.
[Sunny Day: Larvesta, -7% Energy]

Lapras squinted up at the sun. It could be way cooler, couldn't it? She opened her mouth again, shooting up a small orb of pale blue energy. The orb burst in the sky, exploding and creating a whole motherload of clouds that immediately began pouring sheets, quilts, and duvet comforters of rain onto the battlers. Park-goers ran for cover, while Lapras smirked and Larvesta glared dourly at her. I whipped out my trusty umbrella.
[Rain Dance: Lapras, -7% Energy]

Lapras would heal with Water Absorb during rain, wouldn't she?

Now, go with Waterfall, then for the next action, if Larvesta has more HP than you, use Surf. If his HP is lower than yours, use Brine instead.

Not necessarily. Water Absorb only activates when a Water-type move hits the Pokemon, not an arena effect.

Larvesta was eager to finish this, he was soaked, was stuck in the middle of a whirlpool, and still had to endure Lapras’ smirk. He couldn’t stand the rain, so to change this situation, he started focusing, and then shortly after, his red prongs were shining, they created tiny beams from the tip to the front of Larvesta’s face, creating a small red sphere, after the sphere were fully charged, and his prongs stopped gleaming, he shot it to the sky, a few minutes later, it stopped raining, Larvesta growled in glee, while Lapras gave him a nasty look.
(Sunny Day is in effect; Larvesta -7NRG)

Lapras, considerably ticked off by Larvesta’s last action, decided to end this for once, she charged a small torrent of water, while she did this, Larvesta thought she was going to throw it at him, so he prepared, but she, instead, used it to boost a charging attack to him. Her attack, threw him off guard, and he was so terrified, he was unable to move.
(Larvesta -10HP, Flinched; Lapras -6NRG)

Lapras took this chance to attack once more, she began to hold water in her mouth, it began to grow in size and intensity, when she couldn’t hold any longer, she spit it at Larvesta, poor little thing, took the attack fully. Larvesta, still recovering from that attack was bound tightly by a whirlpool, before it ended. Lapras smirked and laughed,,but then something inside it started to make her fell nauseous, it got to a point he started puking all over. After a while she stopped.
(Larvesta -21HP ; Lapras -5NRG, -4HP)

Both pokémon wanted to use the weather for some purpose and, since they were both as fast as one another, it looked like there would be a race to see who got their way. Larvesta opened himself up to the sun’s energy, allowing it to warm him through and heal him after the damage done by his opponent. Meanwhile, Lapras was trying to change the weather back to rainy so that she could battle in more comfortable conditions. The two foes each manipulated their own energy, Larvesta taking it in and using it to restore himself and Lapras gathering it up and forming a pulsing blue aura around her body. Just as the water-type released the energy into the atmosphere, the fire-bug breathed a sigh; he had finished the healing process just in time. However, his relief was short-lived. Heavy rain began to fall on the garden, taking the warm feeling from his body – he had a feeling that things were about to get worse.

Funnily, this feeling coincided with Lapras beginning the preparations for her next attack. The graceful sea monster allowed salt to pass through her skin and dissolve in the pond around her. As well as the salt, she added a little energy into the water so that she could control it when she needed to. And that time came quickly. She created a spiral of concentrated solution and wrapped it around Larvesta, who cried out in pain – and not without good reason. The attack was incredibly strong, its power boosted by the rain as well as the pain it caused being doubled by the bug’s existing wounds.

Smouldering in anger, the torch pokémon decided that he’d pull out a powerful attack of his own. He began to absorb what little sunlight there was now that the sky had turned cloudy and harness it for his own attack. A white glow surrounded the moth larvae as he unleashed a beam of powerful energy on her opponent. The shelled sea creature gave a small murmur of pain, but the loser in the deal by far was the one who initiated it; Larvesta sagged beneath a tree, struggling massively to come to terms with the amount of energy he had just lost. Things were not looking good for him. Even when Lapras’ body were attacked once again by his deadly poison, the bug still seemed to be upset – surely this could only get better from here though.

Rain continued to pour down from the clouds, drenching Larvesta’s fur and making her increasingly irritable. The battle had not gone too well for her and it seemed that she would have to compensate for her losses by using desperate tactics. Electricity crackled around her body as she prepared to make her move; Lapras saw this and frowned – she wasn’t a big fan of being hit with electric shocks. However, this electricity also seemed to be hurting Larvesta – it bit and stung her like a hundred mosquitoes attacking at once. So, eager to get rid of the pain, she rushed forwards at Lapras and rammed into her body before dropping helplessly into the pond with the shellfish.

While the bug tried to scramble out of the water, Lapras decided that it was time to end her misery. A tentacle of salty water rose from the surface of the pool, being manipulated by the sea creature’s energy, and struck Larvesta on the head, pushing her down into the salty water beneath. The volcano bug screamed as the salt stung her wounds. But the pain didn’t last too long – her consciousness faded away, giving in to the darkness. Lapras allowed the insect to rise to the surface again so that her trainer could recall her. It was all over now – and the water-type barely felt as if she had been scratched.
