View Full Version : Do you use legendarys on your team?

I personally try to keep in mind the fact that in the real-world (if you can use that to describe pokemon XP) trainers wouldn't normally have a legendary pokemon on their team, though I use mew myself because I find it adorable, what about yeh guys, do you use legendarys? if so which ones and why.

I'll make this quick instead of launching into a tirade over it...
Using Legendaries for your own personal use (your game) and such is totally okay. Using them in actual battles is just stupid. The fact that you use Legendaries in such situations shows that you are NOT a good trainer/battler - rather, you're the complete opposite. Instead of taking the time to train a real team, you're using hyped-up Ubers to MAKE yourself look powerful. People, using a Mew or Jirachi won't make you the best. No way.
Be original, use actual Pokemon. Or is it too much for you?
No, I don't use Legendaries.

I use legendaries for the pokemon league when I'm doing EXP. Share training. I actually only use one, just Mewtwo.

I use sometimes use legenaries, it depends on the game. Because my main types are always grass, fire, water, electric and flying, I always have one space left to fill so I usually use legendaries.
In Sapphire I use Kyogre in my team. In Emerald I decided against using a legendary and trained a Gardevoir. It really depends on the game. In the Hoenn region I find it hard to get good Pokemon so I sometimes use legendaries, while in Johto and Kanto there were plenty of Pokemon that I liked without using legendaries. ^^

I don't use legends unless they are necessary, which in many cases aren't. So primarily, I just collect them until I feel like using them, which is a very low chance of that happening.

I made this card based on my game.

As you can see, I don't use any legendaries, and I only use mine for travel.

Not usually. I prefer to train normal pokemon. However the only exeption is Lugia. (in XD and silver) I used to have a Suicune as well but decided to not use any other legendaries except Lugia.

No, I don't.
Using your own pokemon makes it original. Because there are so many diffrent pokemon in the game you have a choice rather than narrowing it down to ten legendaries. If you want to challenge me with rayquaza, kyogre, groudon and three regis, I'll use my regular pokes and take you on. And it'll be a close match because pokemon are only as good as the trainer.

Since this is in the R/S/E section...no, I don't. I usually find pokes that cover what I feel needs to be covered. I -have- been using them for Col. but considering the limited choice they give you to choose from, it's almost expected. ;p

is dragonite. salamence a legendary pokemon?if yes that means i used it..^^
Zenaku

No, Dragonite and Salamence are normal Pokemon, but some extreme anti-uberists sometimes go against using Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence or the like. Slaking can also be classed as uber.
Personally, I do use Legendaries for in game use, sometimes. I prefer to EV train legendaries, yet not use them for battle. I currently have all my legendary Pokemon (minus Rayquaza, which I only use due to my lazyness in removing another pokemon with the move "fly" from the PC) are in the PC, having never been trained; Legendary Birds, Legendary Dogs, Regi's, Ho-oh, Deoxys, etc.
Once I've decided on a final team among my games, and have trained each of my chosen Pokemon, I'll discard each Legendary to life imprisonment within the PC.

Before on my ruby I had groudon on my team and thougth I was pretty good, but now that my skills as a trainer have gone up since that tiem I stopped using legendaries completely. By using a legendary your not showing people your true skills as a trainer, by using normal pokemon and desimating others with them shows how well you are with pokemon.

The only reason I use Rayquaza is so i can get to places that need Waterfall, like when I want to challenge Steven on my Emerald(which won't be for a long time because my strongest Poke'mon other than Rayquaza is a LV53 Aggron). Besides, I spend most of my time in the Battle Frontier.

So? I beat Steven with a LV.40 Blaziken. You just have to balance its moveset. And if you're a risk-taker, let him beat you the first time so that you know his Pokemon and their weaknesses. That's what I did.

I use legendaries sometimes, usually I like catching and training them for fun but I could also beat the pokemon league with or without them. I don't see why it matters what you use. Because in the end you either win, lose or have lots of fun, i would choose the latter.

Okay, I didn't plan of using legendaries, usally I catch them because of well, I like to see what the Pokdex says on them, but I now in Fire Red, have two of the birds, after lossing all my money to the elit four, unable to get past the first two, well I think a few Legendaries were needed, and guess what, I am still beaten there, so Training Legendaires is just as hard, if not more difficult then regulare Pokemon, they are so high in level, that it take forever to level up and well, I think about half an hour has been spent at Indigo Platue, so yes I use Legendaries.

Seeing as how this has been revived I suppose I'll let myself back in on it.
After playing XD a while, I decided to use one legendary. Lugia, and only Lugia. The rest I catch, not to train, but to add to my dex or strategy memo.
Nope, i train my pokes...

I dont well.... not exactly true after I beat all the things that are hard to do without the legendarys then I use them on things but not battles or anything.
I usually release them.
So no I guess

I use my legendary pokemon in my team and my stongest in Johto (gold/silver/crystal) is Mew that is 100 I got from this dude and my strongest in my newer ones (ruby, emeraled etc.) is Kyogre that is 90 right now.
I think it isn't bad to use a pokemon that is just as a pokemon as the others just because it is 'rare'. The legendarys need as much work to get as strong as normals need.

Whoa.
Um...this is an odd statement. It also can't possibly be true, because, let's face it: The stats of Legendary PKMN are waaaaay above those of normal PKMN. I'll show you.
Base stats for Eevee (HP/ATK/DEF/SPEED/SPA/SPD):
55 55 50 55 45 65
Base stats for Rayquaza (HP/ATK/DEF/SPEED/SPA/SPD):
105 150 90 95 150 90
One in the same? I think not.

Well it is not fair to do a small tiny eevee to a large Rayquaza. I mean like in evolved pokemon. Don't put little weak in this but you have a point. Still shouldn't use eevee as one.

I see. But, if I were to compare Venusaur versus Rayquaza, there would still be a somewhat-unusual gap. I'm just saying that Legendaries still have pretty high stats compared to other 'Mons no matter how you train them. That's partly why they are 'Legendaries' after all.
Eevee versus Rayquaza...yeah, that was pretty harsh.

Well you have to take into consideration that a large number of unevolable pokemon are stuck at that range (well...except for luvdisc, since its aerodynamic shape strikes fear in even the legendary pokemon, as it clocks in at a ridiculous speed of mach 0.0001). And some fully evolved pokemon aren't that far off either.
Say something like Fearow (we won't even go with the crappier pidgeot even) would totally get pwned by legendaries. Heck, even some favourites like Meganium holds no candle against a legendary...
