Clouds drifted peacefully overhead, giving an air of tranquillity to the field of grass on which we were gathered. I looked from left to right, taking in the information from the two trainers who were out here with me. On one side was Saraibre Ryu and her Quagsire, Sugi. The dopey looking water-type stared at the grass and the sky as if wondering where she was. Meanwhile, her opponents, eishiba and Miss Diplodicus the Meganium glared across at her, already planning how they would break her to pieces. It seemed that the setting for the battle would be deceptive – this could turn out to be a pretty fiercely fought battle.

Despite her opponent’s nefarious planning and superior speed, Sugi managed to get in the first move. A shimmering wall of energy sprung up in front of the Quagsire – this wall could defend her from anything that came her way. The smile across her face didn’t change, but she seemed to become more confident about her chances. Miss Diplodicus didn’t mind her though, she needed to carry on believing that her attack would work.

The Jurassic plant opened her mouth and spat several seeds at her opponent. They moved through the air at a frightening speed, but only managed to get as far as Sugi’s shield before being vaporised and destroyed. The Meganium frowned, but she had been expecting that to happen. It couldn’t be helped now.

But her next attack was sure to succeed. Roots grew from her body and stuck into the ground, drawing nutrients from it. From now on, her body would be able to heal itself by a little every once in a while, allowing her to fight for a little longer if necessary. She turned to her opponent and regarded her with a cruel, hard stare. It would be interesting to see how Sugi overcame this problem.

Except, it seemed that she wasn’t going to. She began to applaud her opponent instead, congratulating her on her excellent strategy. Miss Diplodicus’ ego swelled at this praise; if this was going to happen whenever she did that, she would readily do it again. So, in a way, Sugi did find a way to defeat the brilliant strategy. The two battlers seemed to be evenly matched – there was no telling who would win at the moment.

Miss Diplodicus had been ordered to use vines to restrain her opponent, but she wanted to show off her tricks with planting roots again. More of the thin stems grew from her body and tried to stick themselves into the ground, but the earth already had enough roots sticking into it to drain the necessary resources for healing. These new shoots were basically useless.

And Sugi seemed to be able to see them as what they were. The Quagsire quickly became bored of this repetition and showed it with a loud yawn. The yawn washed over Miss Diplodicus, and, since it was as infectious as all yawns, she yawned too. She realised that she was beginning to get tired despite the fact that she’d only been battling for a couple of minutes. She was also getting angry – how dare that Quagsire yawn at her performance that she did especially for her.

Knowing that she didn’t have much time left before she drifted off, the Meganium began to absorb energy from her surroundings and compact it into a small sphere, which floated in front of her snake-like head. The green ball swirled and spun with the sheer power of the energy trapped inside it. Sugi watched it quietly, somehow managing to keep the smile on her face. As the energy ball moved towards her, she did nothing to stop it; it would have been futile to try and prevent this. Pain shot through her body. But she didn’t seem to be affected by it – the smile stayed unchanged across her face.

Despite her outward display of apathy, Sugi didn’t want to get hit like that too often if she could help it. She began to sort through her memories, finding ones which she did and didn’t need and discarding any that fell into the second category. As she did this, her mind became a smaller target for attacks that targeted it directly and she gained the ability to block out some of the pain she felt from other attacks that didn’t cause damage by physical means. Satisfied now that she was better equipped to deal with her opponent’s attacks, she gave herself a little time to relax before the next round.

Moves: Substitute ~ Sleep

Miss Diplodicus’ eyelids were getting really heavy now, and she knew that she had only a little time to prepare for the slumber that was gradually slowing down her body. Before she went down, she had to find a way to protect herself while her mind was incapacitated. Fortunately, the answer was fairly clear: she had to make a substitute. To do this, she dug up a little earth and moulded it into a form which looked vaguely similar to her own – her brain was too fatigued by now to care about the details. With her last conscious moments, she placed her paw on the model and imparted a small amount of energy into it, allowing it to move separately of her will and defend her while she slept.

However, the substitute would be short-lived if Sugi had anything to with it. Volatile toxins began to mix in her mouth, creating a powerful poison. She sprayed the purple liquid over the Meganium’s doll, making it fizz and fall apart. The acidity of the mixture had been enough to take it down in one strike; now the path was open to strike the slumbering dinosaur.

While the plant pokémon slept harmlessly, Sugi prepared to deal the best blow she could. By channelling energy into the ground, she created large pieces of soil, which she hurled across the field at her foe. They hit the Meganium, dealing a little damage, but not waking her up. There was just one problem, the roots that had been laid down earlier in the battle were drawing in enough nutrients to repair all the damage being done, so at the end of the round, Miss Diplodicus was just as healthy as she had been at the beginning.

Asharas the Shiny Charizard [F]
Ability: Blaze
Signature move: Flare Blaze
Description:
The flames of a Charmander and evolutions yet to come always burn brighter when fierce battles have been faced. Ashe was one such Pokemon who would face her own opponents who had a type advantage over her. Over and over again, until the peak of her power was reached and skill of her fire attacks hit high. Once her Blaze ability activated, she took it one step further, unleashing even more power against her opponents in a literal blaze of glory. Water type's steamed, rock types melted under the intense heat and so on and so forth. However Ashe would go without taking some of her own recoil damage every time a fire attack was used due to the intensity. This was always a do or die tactic.
Type: Fire
Base Power: N/A
Accuracy: 100%
Classification: Status
Energy Modifier: 15%
Effects:
-All Fire attacks used that cause 'not very effective' damage become 'normal damage'. 'Normal damage' becomes Super Effective. Super Effective damage as they were.
-All fire attacks used cause 3% recoil damage to remaining health. (Should 2 Fire attacks be used in one round means -7% health for each fire attack in total) This is added to the recoil value if the fire type attack already does recoil damage (Eg. Flare Blitz)
-All fire attacks have a chance of burning if they did not have it previously before.
-Flash Fire Ability is bypassed, however, 2% more recoil damage occurs as a result.
-Flash Fire bypass does normal damage to opponent.
-Can only use when the 'Blaze' ability activates after being commanded to.
-Lasts 3 Rounds and if Asharas is by some whim of a miracle still standing by the end of it, ALL her stats drop by 3 levels. [Including Evasion]
Usage Gap: Once per battle.

Now use a Substitute pleash

Saraibre Ryu didn’t seem happy with the situation as it was – even if the opponent was incapacitated. Sugi’s poké ball appeared in her hand and she recalled her battler, having decided on a new strategy that would hopefully give her a better chance than struggling against a pokémon who could deal four times as much damage to her than she could to it.

A second poké ball fell from her hand to the ground, and from it, in a burst of fire, flew a scaly dragon with a broad wingspan and a long, flaming tail. The grey scales shimmered in the orange light of the fire, which had scorched the grass where the ball had landed. This colouration marked her as different to the majority of the rest of her species, who were clothed in the same orange as their flames. This was Asharas – Saraibre Ryu’s shiny Charizard. Her eyes glinted with determination and a mighty roar erupted from her lungs. She was ready to battle.

Unfortunately, she was about to get more of a battle than she had bargained on. The roar had been loud enough to shake Miss Diplodicus from her rest. The Meganium got to her feet, blinking at the sight of this new opponent. Then she shrugged, it didn’t matter who she was fighting: she had her orders and she would follow them. She spat a collection of seeds at Asharas, and they germinated in midair, creating a net of criss-crossing roots, which ensnared the Charizard. The roots then dug themselves in between the scales, forcing their way into the body beneath. Asharas grunted as they bore into her; whatever they were, she knew that they couldn’t be good.

Still, she had orders to follow too, and she went about them quickly before the chance was lost. She began to tear up the earth beneath her and form it into a replica of herself, using the flames of her breath to harden each piece as it was completed. Finally, she breathed her very own life into the model, creating a guardian that would protect her to its dying moment if necessary. Its wings stretched out and then began to beat as it rose slowly into the air beside its creator. The two dragons watched Miss Diplodicus carefully, waiting for her next move.

The Meganium grimaced when she saw what her opponent had done, but she didn’t think that it would be enough to stop her. Green energy began to gather around her head as she pulled it out the grass and other plants beneath her. She focused and compressed it into a single orb, which rotated rapidly on an axis above her nose. With a loud cry, she fired it at her opponent, hoping that it would do a decent amount of damage. Before it could reach Asharas, the substitute spread its wings and shot forwards, selflessly intercepting it to avoid damage to her creator. Both of its legs and part of its body were blasted clean off by the impact, and shattered on the ground below. However, the substitute remained in the air with Asharas, just as determined to protect her as it had been before.

However, there were some things it could not defend her from. The Charizard was suddenly bent over double in pain as its life and energy were sapped by the roots that had been sown earlier. She snarled and glared at Miss Diplodicus, whose energy stores were being renewed by the energy that she had just lost. It was an underhand trick, and Asharas would have to work hard to overcome it if she wanted to win.

Round Six

Eishiba pulled out Miss Diplodicus's Pokeball, ready to pull his beloved dinosaur out of harm's way. However, as he held the Pokeball at the ready, Miss Diplodicus began to shake her head frantically. Eishiba frowned. What was the matter with her? Was she masochistic enough to w[I]want to battle a Charizard? Then he remembered the roots that now bound his Pokemon to the ground. Muttering a curse, he put away the Pokeball.

Asharas stared at her foe in incredulity. This was a joke, right? A faint grin crossed her scaly muzzle. She would have liked to take this golden opportunity to attack her defenseless opponent, but her Trainer had given her orders. Wincing at the thought of what she was about to do, she opened her jaws and let out a stream of flames, aiming not at Miss Diplodicus, but at the ground near her feet. The fire burned the roots ensnaring her to ashes, freeing her from their leechlike grip. She stomped her feet experimentally; they were a little tender, but all in all she was not much worse for wear.
[Incinerate: Asharas, -4% HP, -2% Energy]

Finished with this task, Asharas lifted her claws. Surely they could be much, much sharper... She began to rub them together, honing the edges to curved, serrated white razors. The talons began to shimmer and gleam, and to test them she ripped them through the grass underfoot. The grass was sliced clean through, and that was all Asharas needed. Soon, the grass-type would be sliced clean through as well.
[Hone Claws: Asharas, -4% Energy, +1 ATK, +1 ACC]

Miss Diplodicus began to panic. What should she do? What could she do? She was out here, defenseless against that brutish -

Defenseless.

That was the key! Emboldened, Miss Diplodicus closed her eyes and concentrated on fortifying herself. Around her body flickered a faint gold aura, like a spark; a second later the spark caught and the aura expanded and strengthened, changing into a spherical force-field. Miss Diplodicus smiled faintly. Now Asharas could no longer attack her with impunity!

Asharas growled lowly as she began to rub her claws together, sharpening them against each other. The dragon was tired of being cautious – she wanted to go and smash something. Her anger building, she scraped her claws back and forth, barely noticing how much Miss Diplodicus was shaking, despite having managed to throw up a protective wall between the two of them. The grass-type knew that she wasn’t going to have much of a fun time when Saraibre Ryu decided to unleash the raging Charizard on her.

Hopefully, she would at least be able to cause her opponent some pain before she fell. A ball of viscous, purple fluid rushed up her throat and into her mouth, burning as it went. As soon as she could aim, she spat the bitter venom over Asharas, hoping to bring down her opponent by the subtlety of poison rather than wasting her efforts on straight-forward force. Unfortunately, the Charizard’s substitute was quick to act, shifting its legless body into the path of the projectile. The poison covered the substitute’s dirt face, but had no effect on it.

Asharas was a little shaken by this – just enough to make her listen to her trainer rather than fly over and rip Miss Diplodicus’ eyes out just then. Beating her powerful wings, she rose into the sky, accelerating as she went. Soon she was just a blur, racing through the air with surprising ease, considering her size. Then she began to slow down, but there were now three others with her, each of them an exact clone. They descended around Meganium, who looked from one to the next with confusion and annoyance – this was only going to make things harder for her.

Still, she had to at least try. More of the same vile liquid was brought up and spat over the nearest Charizard. The substitute was still too quick though, intercepting the poison before it could reach its target. Miss Diplodicus frown in annoyance – this wasn’t getting any better for her and she doubted it was going to.

Alright Asharas, lets start with Swords Dance and then follow up with Flame Charge.
If she breaks the sub, create another one at 10%.
If she's going to Counter, use Dragon Dance instead.

Swords Dance~Flame Charge/Sub @10%/Dragon Dance

eishiba you have 24 hours to post or you will be DQ.

I'm giving you a slight advantage because it has been slow around here.
