The Letter

Once I had a letter
I kept it close to me
Because it had a message
That no one else should see
I remember when you placed it
Firmly in my hand
And told me not to read it
Until you gave the command
That day never came
Since you were swept away
But still I haven’t opened it
In case you return some day
Though I’m ever wondering
What could be within
I won’t go against your wishes
Because that would be the greatest sin
And as each new day passes
I think back to that day
When you handed me the letter
Before you went away
I keep it in my pocket
A piece of you with me
And one day when we meet again
We’ll be together, finally
And now I'm old and withered
Waiting to pass on
And that letter's by my side
The envelope, untorn.

Believe it or not, I actually tried to write a happy poem... :oops: This is definately not my best work >_<; Oh well, comments & crits appreciated. ^^
