(with the exception of some legendary pokes...) I always NN my Pokemon (see my sig). I have a text file on my computer that has all my Silver NN cause I could never remember all of them :oops: , but I still need to type out the ones from my other games. Some of my favorites from Ruby are:

I usually do. Every time I start a new game, I choose a different theme. I'm just playing it by ear right now. My Gold Version level 49 Crobat is nicknamed Crunchy, after a little secondary character in a fabulous webcomic called A Modest Destiny. Crunchy is a bat who belongs to a vampire called Fluffy. He looks almost exactly like the GSC in-party bat sprite. And unlike most, this was raised from a lvl 3 Zubat knowing only Leechlife caught with a Pokeball! I did not just use a Friend ball to get a lvl 35 Golbat in Victory road. I also have a Graveler named Steamrolla in Sapphire :eek: . Dunno what I was thinking then.

The opposite of almost everyone here, I ALWAYS nickname my Pokemon. For example, my current team:

Male Dratini - Dearin
Male Flareon - Exverst (I originally thought Everest, but it came out like that.)
Male Nidoking - Nextell (Don't ask.)
Female Pidgeotto - Kerectik (After my cat, who we call Tik sometimes.)
Female Raichu - Meringue (The yellow of the Pikachu reminded me of Lemon Meringue Pie.)
Male Wartortle - Cincinnati (Originally Systematic, but I changed the name in Lavender Town.)

I have odd names for some of my Pokemon. Those are only the ones in my team. =P

I only nicknamed one Pokémon on my Ruby version and that would by Groudon. I called it 'lame' so as you can see, it reflects it's abilities.

Like Katera, I give my 'Mons Japanese nicknames if I can find good ones. I usually only name the 'Mons on my teams, or my favorite Pokemon. I can thank this mostly in part to my Japanese class in school and Japanese to English dictionaries!

Jolteon - Hinoko ('Sparks')
Milotic - Airashii ('Lovely')

Lalala names her important pokemon after people Lalala likes. But only important ones, not all of them...

Lalala printed off japenese pokemon names but lost the sheet... also Lalala thinks you have to rename the pokemon if it evolved. Which is time consuming and annoying.

PB, there's an awesome online English to Japanese dictionary at http://www.freedict.com/onldict/***.html. Just type in a word (or words) and, viola - a possible, cool Japanese nickname. :wink:

I nickname Pokemon, but only the ones I use to battle. I usually give them NN's that reflect what they look like, or they're type or their personalities...like my Nidoking is NN'ed Tox, and my Rhydon is NN'ed Charger. ^^ It makes them more unique IMO.
