The Orb of Control

It was late at night and the moon was high in the sky. The light from it was being blocked by clouds as they passed by. A small mountain dragon was walking alone. He was only 5 years old. He was about 3” 2’ tall and about 5-7 ˝ feet long. His scales were as hard as rock and he was a deep green color. On his back were small spikes and he had two horns on his head like a rhino. He was in the sacred grounds of the dragon world exploring. Trees covered the area making the grounds look crowded and making it easy to hide from others. His attention was then grabbed by a dark figure in the distance.

“What the heck?” he said as he watched the dark figure swarm its long body around a glowing object that floated on a concrete stand. Suddenly the small dragon’s vision went black. He was knocked out by a larger Mountain dragon that had seen him.

--The next morning--

“Wake up!” said a deep voice. The small mountain dragon’s eyes slowly opened. He lifted his head as his vision became clear. He looked around to see he was in a cell. Rusted metal bars blocked kept him in and, he was surrounded by three cracking brick walls. Water droplets were dripping down from the ceiling at a steady pace and there were lit torches on the cracking walls outside the cell. A large dragon stood outside the cell door. He was a field dragon. His body was long and slender as it curved around like a serpents. He had very small spikes going down his back to his tail. His tail ended in a sword like design that looked sharp enough to cut rock.

“What-what happened?” asked the mountain dragon. The field dragon looked angry. His small eyes added to the effect of the anger putting fear into the mountain dragon’s heart.

“Don’t play jokes! You know what you did and you can’t change it! Now c’mon jack ass!” the field dragon said as he put a chain around the small dragon’s neck. He then pulled on it leading the dragon through the small narrow hallway.

“What, what do I know that I did?” the small dragon asked as the chain pulled tightly on his neck.

“You stole the orb! YOU STOLE THE ORB!” the larger dragon yelled in pure rage. The smaller dragon didn’t understand.

“Orb? What orb? What are you talking about!?” he asked in major confusment. As they kept walking the small dragon noticed that the hallway was slowly becoming larger. They had paced many cells; many of them had prisoners in them. Others were empty. The small dragon shuttered as he looked at the gloomy cells.

“Are you really that stupid!? The orb of control! The orb that gives us our powers and keeps our kind hidden from the human world! You took it from the sacred grounds! AND NOW OUR WORLD IS IN DANGER!” yelled the larger field dragon. His voice echoed in the chamber. The small dragon lowered its head as the dragon’s voice echoed making it sound fiercer. Soon they came to an opening which led to some stairs. They walked up the stairs into a large circular room. The light of the room blinded the small dragon for a minute. Soon his eyes adjusted to the light and he opened them.

“This is the High Council of our world. They are going to determine your fate! Not that there is anything to determine! They should kill your sorry ass right here and right now!” the field dragon said.

“Now Lunt, there is no need for language such as that here. Please go elsewhere if you are going to speak like that!” said one of the five dragons that were in the large circular room.

“My, my, my FATE!? BUT, I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!” the smaller dragon said. Lunt, who was the Field dragon scowled at the high council.

“Yes you did! How many freaking times do I have to tell you!? YOU STOLE THE GOD DAMN ORB!” Lunt yelled to the dragon scaring him even more.

“LUNT! That tone of voice isn’t appreciated here in this room!” one of the High Council dragons said as he looked to Lunt.

“Shut up old man! You may have raised me but you are never going to be my father!” Lunt yelled. He then stormed off. His long body moved across the floor like a snakes body did when it slithered through thick grass.

“Excuse him. Now, what is your name young one? I think that before anything else we are to know your name” the middle dragon said. The middle dragon’s scales were a reddish color. He had two horns on his head and a white beard on his lower jaw. He was a volcanic dragon.

“My name is Ordal and I swear that I never stole anything!” Ordal said. He looked at the five dragon elders as they sat behind a large table.

“Look, all evidence points towards you. This crime is huge! Now I am not saying that you did it but, so far there hasn’t been any other clue that point to someone else” said the middle elder. Ordal was scared. What if they were to confer him guilty? Were they going to destroy him? This was all Ordal could think of at the moment. This is what Ordal believed to be true.
