View Full Version : [Other] Slender Syndrome [A Slenderman/Silent Hill RP] (SU/Discussion)

Dog of Hellsing
12-18-2012, 02:45 AM
Plot:

There is a place called Silent Hill, where unspeakable things have happened in the past. Where monsters roam the streets, and where reality is twisted into another dimension altogether. It is a place where nightmares dwell and hope is non-existent. It is a place lost souls end up, trapped in a purgatory of ash and darkness.

But there is something even more terrifying lurking in the town than there used to be. A creature of myth and terror, he goes by many names. The White King, Der Ritter, The Tall Man, The Faceless One, The Operator, Slenderman. A tall being wearing a black suit, a red tie, and with an empty white slate for a face. Those who are hunted by him know only fear before their death, those who are chosen by him become his faithful slaves. He rules over a realm known as The Path of Black Leaves, which has recently lead him into the cursed boundaries of Silent Hill. There, he stalks the lost ones, always watching…

You wake up in Silent Hill, unable to remember how you got here. What you do in the course of your “visit” will determine your fate. Will you find salvation and escape, or will you find death? Or perhaps, you may give in and simply join the man that haunts your mind…

Rules:

1) Follow the ToS (Terms of Service, those things you agreed to when you joined the forum)

2) No bunnying other characters unless given permission by their player (Slenderman’s character, by default, is capable of minor bunnying)

3) No god-moding (Again, by default, Slenderman’s character has god-mode active as a default)

4) Keep cursing to a minimum, please.

5) If you want to get into heavy petting or whatever, do it over PM, not in the main RP. As a rule, if it’s more than kissing or hugging, it belongs in a PM or a private RP thread separate from the main one.

6) Please try to be relatively active (post three or so times a week, at least). If a character is inactive for more than a week with no prior notice, I’ll send a PM to the character’s player. If there is no response within five days, Slenderman either gets to kill the character or turn them into a Proxy for the sake of preventing the RP from dying due to inactive members.

7) Literate posts please; no chat speak, one liners, or posts full of emoticons or smilies.

8) If you have an issue with another player or any specific outcomes, please contact either me or Zolar about it, rather than posting in the RP or here.

9) Try to keep OOC content in the RP to a minimum; if you’re discussing ideas or want clarification on something or whatever, please make use of the discussion thread (aka here) or PM the other members.

Notes:

1) Slenderman’s domain is known as the Path of Black Leaves, and only he and his Proxies can travel there at will. Characters that get taken there may have a chance at escaping back to Silent Hill or even back to the Real World, though in almost all cases characters will remain in the Path of Black Leaves until they are brought back by Slenderman or a Proxy.

2) Proxies are people who have been completely broken, emotionally and mentally, and are now servants to Slenderman. They carry out his will in the Real World, such as taunting victims or taking them to the Path. They do this in Silent Hill as well, but they are more dangerous and numerous than when in the Real World.

3) SH monsters exist as normal. Monsters from all the games as well as the movie are fair game here.

4) Slenderman mostly moves around in the Fog World, appearing much less often when the Otherworld forms. He will still appear occasionally and is much stronger while the Otherworld has formed, but in most cases he will leave the stronger monsters that roam the Otherworld to terrorize his victim. Depending on what he has planned for anyone specifically, he might step in to prevent someone from being outright killed, but otherwise will not interfere with the actions of the monsters (this applies to the Fog World as well). Also, the effects of Slender Syndrome are stronger while the Otherworld has formed (Slender Syndrome is explained below).

5) In cases where characters are “taken” (abducted into the Path of Black Leaves, either by Slenderman himself or a Proxy), a private RP can be done between the character, NPC Proxies, and Slenderman, if so desired. Because time passes differently in SH as opposed to the Path of Black Leaves (for the sake of this RP, at least), a character can be in the Path for weeks, but upon returning to the Fog World find less than an hour has passed. This will help prevent any weird time conflicts and also means members don’t actually have to wait a week before returning to the main RP. There is no time/post limit a taken character has to wait before being able to return; if your character is taken, your next post can have them returning regardless of how long it’s been since your last post or how many times others have posted.

6) If you decide you want your character to become a Proxy (see the Possible Outcomes section below), work out the various details with Zolar (who is playing Slenderman for this). You can also talk to him in regards of deciding when your character is taken, how long they’re gone for, how often Slenderman approaches them, and so on and so forth. Keep in mind that most of this will be random to keep the RP from getting stale and planned and Zolar has the right to refuse setting things up with you if he wants to.

7) Slenderman is pretty much indestructible in this, unless someone happens to escape Silent Hill and find information on stopping him…With that in mind, be aware that his character can bunny to a small extent (saying he grabs someone’s arm or something along those lines), and that pretty much nothing can be done to hurt him.

8) Slenderman, like the monsters of SH, will cause electronic devices like radios, phones, and camcorders to emit static when he is nearby, but only when they are turned on.

9) Slenderman’s presence causes intense fear in those near him (except for Proxies). It can be a good way of knowing when to run…or a good way of being frozen from terror and unable to flee…

Slender Syndrome:

Those who spend too much time in Slenderman’s presence or in the Path will begin to suffer from what is known as Slender Syndrome. These are various effects on a person’s body that range from mild to intense depending on how much time one has spent around Slenderman or in his domain. The less time one has spent around him, the less severe the symptoms, and the more time one has spent around him the more severe the symptoms become. Here is a list of the symptoms (note that they don’t have to develop in this order or even at all; it’s a sort of case-by-case thing, as different people react in different ways).

Headaches ; dizziness/vertigo ; nosebleeds ; coughing fits ; coughing up blood ; paranoia ; insomnia ; memory loss (occurs almost 100% of the time after being taken, with the victim being unable to remember anything about the time they were in the Path) ; blacking out ; nightmares featuring Slenderman (as he has the power to manipulate dreams) ; and obsession with the Operator Symbol (a circle with an X through it; this obsession usually manifests in drawing the symbol over and over again on any available surface with any available material, including blood if nothing else).

Slender Syndrome generally begins to manifest within a day or two of being in Slenderman’s presence or of returning from the Path for the first time, and usually starts with coughing fits. Again, this may or not apply to individual characters, who can decide everything about the Syndrome from when it starts to how quickly it escalates.

Goal of the RP:

There are different end goals for the RP, depending on what you want your character’s ultimate fate to be. If you want to escape Silent Hill, your efforts should be put towards finding out how you were brought there in the first place. If you want to become a Proxy and help kill/recruit the other characters, you should focus on trying to encounter Slenderman/other Proxies as much as possible. If you want your character to suffer some horrid fate too dark to speak of, work towards making it happen. There’s no right or wrong way to do things in this RP.

Possible Outcomes For Characters:

There are a number of different things that can happen to your characters over the course of the RP, but most of them will culminate in one of three outcomes; the character’s death, becoming a Proxy, or escaping Silent Hill. There’s a possible 4th outcome, but that one’s going to be kept secret for now and revealed privately to people should the need arise in the RP. Each outcome has its own pros and cons, which are listed below.

1) Character Death
PROS:
a) Ability to bring another character into the RP who will have a better chance at resisting the influence of Slenderman and his Proxies (less fearful, less prone to madness)
b) Better chance of new characters to resisting being taken, or if taken, better chance at escaping Slenderman’s domain before normally being returned
c) New characters suffers less from the effects of Slender Syndrome
d) New characters are less likely to become Proxies

CONS:
a) Because of being less afraid, new characters are more likely to attack Slenderman/Proxies instead of running, which may result in injuries or attempts at being taken
b) New characters are less aware of when Slenderman is around thanks to the dulled effects of his presence
c) All progress of the previous character is lost, and they cannot be “reborn” through the new character. Once a character is dead, they are dead for good.

2) Becoming a Proxy
PROS:
a) No longer hunted by Slenderman
b) No longer affected by Slender Syndrome
c) Most monsters of Silent Hill will no longer attack a Proxy, save very strong ones or ones that have the most base animal instincts
d) More resistant to physical injuries
e) Increased strength and stamina
f) The ability to travel to Slenderman’s domain and, from there, into the Real World

CONS:
a) When the Proxy mindset takes over, the character will be unable to remember what they did during those timeframes
b) Unless of a very strong will, Proxies will be unable to ignore Slenderman’s commands when under the Proxy mindset
c) Most Proxies cannot control when their Proxy mindset takes over, though it typically will not happen when in the presence of those who don’t know the Proxy is working with Slenderman (generally, a Proxy and Slenderman will work in advance to determine when the mindset is active, though as long as it’s not too often, players can decide when to activate the mindset on their own)
d) Proxies tend to be emotionally unstable thanks to their minds being broken in the process of becoming a Proxy. Those who have a higher will can usually hide their emotional instability

3) Escaping Silent Hill
PROS:
a) Ability to research Slenderman and his Proxies in order to learn ways of hurting them, killing them, or even just keeping them at bay
b) Ability to return to Silent Hill in order to put any information learned to use
c) Slenderman will not come after those who return to the Real World unless/until all other active characters are dead or have become Proxies
d) Option to not return to Silent Hill and instead opt to apply any learned information to the Real World as a means of protection

CONS:
a) increased chances of paranoia from dealing with Slenderman/Proxies/Silent Hill’s monsters
b) Slenderman will not himself travel to the Real World to hunt characters who escape, but will send many Proxies to stop the character (either by killing them or bringing them back to Silent Hill)
c) If a character returns to Silent Hill, they will immediately become Slenderman’s highest-priority target, even if the character didn’t learn anything that could be used against him while back in the Real World
d) Somewhat more susceptible to the effects of Slenderman’s presence and Slender Syndrome upon returning to Silent Hill, whether done willingly or by force
e) Characters returning to Silent Hill have a slightly higher risk of being turned into Proxies thanks to being more vulnerable to Slender Syndrome

I am VERY interested in this. But I have never played Silent Hill. Would I be able to do it, if I read up on the monsters as they appear? thanks

Name: Isaac Reed
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Description: Isaac is short, but well built and muscular, due to him working as a mechanic. He has short blonde hair, and green eyes. Tattooed on his back are lyrics to a song which holds sentimental value to him, and he usually wears a white singlet, black hoodie and dark blue jeans. When he works, he wears blue overalls over this. His hands are worn and scarred from work.
Personality: Isaac is a calm man, who tries his best to keep his cool. When being yelled at, he will remain calm, and make his points (Which are usually correct) clear. He isn't the smartest person when it comes maths, science etc, but has good common sense, and will see the little things that others fail to notice. He is polite, but when driven to a point of rage, he will not hold back. However it usually takes a fair bit of pestering to get to this point.
History: Isaac grew up in LA with his mother. His father left to fight in the war when Isaac was 2. He died fighting this war when Isaac was 7. Isaac went through highschool with average marks, and went to university, where he studied to be a mechanic. This is where he met Kayla, who was studying Law at the time. They started dating, and when they graduated 2 years later, they moved to New York and found jobs there. They have been living there since. Isaac planned on proposing to Kayla, but was taken to Silent hill instead. The last thing he remembers is waiting at an empty Subway Station, since his car was in the process of being repaired.
Additional Information: Isaac has his phone, a tradies nokia http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/vv222/VinnieCent/nokia_5140l_black.jpg which is essentially indestructable, and has great battery life. He also has in his overalls pocket his spanner, hammer, and a handgun with 8 bullets on the inside pocket. He has another 2 full clips, totalling at 24 bullets. He has the handgun on him due to people stealing cars from the garage he works at. He knows it is illegal for him to carry it on public property, but the past few days, he hasn't felt safe...

Hey there, I'm the same as Cobalt, as in I've only ever seen one movie and vaguely remember it. Is it possible to RP without having a lot of knowledge about the SH? If anything, it would add to the character's development as we'd both know nothing at all about the SH world.

Yeah, you really don't need too awfully much knowledge to be in this. You really only need to know the basics: Silent Hill exists in the Real World as an abandoned town. The Fog World is an alternate-reality version of Silent Hill, where things are generally In various states of disrepair. There's also the Otherworld, which forms every so often. It's when the Fog World sort of decays into a dark world where things are even more run down and ruined than in the Fog World, and where stronger monsters lurk.

You can read up on the monsters as you encounter them if you want.

Now then, Cobalt, in terms of Description, what I'm looking for is more a physical description, like what the character looks like. If you could edit that a bit for me and flesh out History just a bit, that would be awesome :3.

TFP, I'm just gonna stick you under reserved lol

Name: Cella Jones

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Description: Cella is 5’4” and is very thin, barely weighing 100 pounds. She’s often described as a porcelain doll; she has pale skin that never seems to tan regardless of how often she’s in the sun, has curly black hair that hangs just above her jawline, and has a very delicate air about her. She has dark green eyes that are rather striking in comparison to her complexion and compliments her hair nicely. Her appearance isn’t something she’s very happy with despite how the guys (and some girls) swoon over her; she looks the way she does thanks to a severe illness she had as an infant that has left her with lingering health issues, such as piercing migraines and acute asthma attacks.

Cella’s mother loved dressing her up in frilly dresses when she was younger, but such girly attire never became something Cella liked. These days she prefers jeans and a plain t-shirt over dresses and frills. She doesn’t have a preference when it comes to color or style, caring more about how comfortable something is. Her shoes are the same way, being a random assortment of tennis shoes, hiking shoes, and the odd pair of dress shoes for special circumstances.

Cella has a thin golden bracelet she received from her great-grandmother a few months before the old woman passed away. There is an obsidian charm hanging from it, in the shape of a circle with an X inside it. Thanks to the stories she was told about it over the years, Cella sees it as little more than a silly religious symbol that happens to have been given to her by one of the people she most loved. If it hadn’t come from her great- grandmother, she probably would have sold it by now. As it is, the only times she takes it off is when she’s bathing or sleeping.

Personality: Cella is one of those quiet people who is very to-the-point when she decides to give her opinion on something. She normally holds her silence unless directly spoken to, not being one for attention. She doesn’t sugar-coat things or beat around the bush, instead being direct with as few words as possible. It’s rare for her to speak more than a few sentences at a time.

Don’t believe her to be anti-social just because she doesn’t talk much, though. She enjoys being in the company of friends and family, and though she doesn’t speak much, she laughs easily. Being alone is a pet peeve of hers, which is one reason she’s roommates with several other people. She likes seeing the happiness of other people, while avoiding drawing too much attention to herself. In fact, she likes seeing other people being happy so much she’ll go out of her way to make it happen. Random gifts, unexpected hugs, postcards and letters sent just to tell someone hello, giving a homeless person money for food…Cella does all of it and more to get a smile. Ironically, she finds it difficult to accept acts of generosity from others.

Cella is fiercely loyal to the people she loves but is very slow to trust new people. This is mainly due to the fact that her mother dated several abusive men during the first eleven years of Cella’s life, and in three cases they had to run away for fear of being severely injured or killed. She’s not very strong thanks to her petite physique and the health issues she has, but she’ll still do what she can to protect people she cares about.

History: Cella had about as ordinary life as any other average American, save for the abusive boyfriends of her mother for several years. The only exciting things to happen to her that didn’t involve running for her life were the times she went to visit her great-grandmother Adelaide in Germany, where the older woman was born and raised. Every trip to Adelaide’s little house would bring new stories, though they often left Cella terrified.

Adelaide told tales of a terrible creature known as Der Großmann, who was very tall and thin, clad in a black suit with a red tie, and possessing a white head with no face to speak of. He was said to tower over mortal men, with limbs like tree branches and the ability to grow other appendages from his back. He would come after people, usually children, and steal them away for unknown reasons, leaving no trace of the unlucky victim behind. Adelaide even recounted a few stories where she’d run into the being a few times as a girl, explaining in very great detail the paralyzing combination of terror and awe she had felt during the encounters.

Eventually the visits to Adelaide grew fewer and fewer, until Cella was only going to see her once or twice a year. This continued up until Cella turned seventeen, at which point Adelaide began to call Cella and write her letters. The old woman seemed to want to spend more time with her great-granddaughter, so Cella and her mother made the effort to see her in person more often. During Cella’s last visit, she was given the bracelet she now wears, and though she thought it rather odd (the charm was what Adelaide had often called Der Großmann’s symbol), Cella cherished the gift. Sadly, Adelaide ended up dying a few months later from what the autopsy revealed to be a heart attack. Cella and her mother were devastated by the news, though Cella also felt a bit uneasy. After all, Adelaide had been acting rather peculiar during the last few visits, as though she was resigned to death but at the same time fearful of it.

Cella never really got over the death of Adelaide, eventually going to see a grief counselor three times a week to help deal with her unstable emotions. After nearly a year of visits and a few months of personal leave from work to sort everything off, Cella came to terms with her great-grandmother’s death and was able to move on. Still, she could never quite get over the feeling that something was…off…about the woman’s passing.

About seven months after her nineteenth birthday, Cella traveled to Germany on her own to visit Adelaide’s grave. She was sitting on the ground staring at the tombstone when suddenly a sense of crushing dread came over her. The panic triggered a particularly violent asthma attack, which ended with Cella blacking out. When she woke up she found herself in a burned-out car in some fog-covered town. Terrified that she’d been kidnapped for some twisted freak’s entertainment, the young woman set out to find her way back home.

Additional Information: Cella has a smartphone that still partially functions. It can’t receive calls or go online, but she can still send texts to people if they have a phone of their own, and the games/apps on it still work (including the flashlight app). Oddly enough, the battery never seems to lose any power, a fact that leaves Cella wondering just what the heck is going on.

Dude... this looks cool.

Name: Secily Jones

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Description: She is caucasian, 5'6", and weighs about 110 pounds. She is very thin in appearance. She has dark almost cloudy eyes. She wears contacts tinted red. She has black hair that is very short. It barely passes her ears, and her bangs reach her eyes. Her hair is spiked downward, and the tips are dyed deep crimson. She wears tan cargo pants, black leather steel-toed boots, and a black tank-top. She also has a studded black leather jacket. She wears it to hide scars covering her arms. She has a questionable sexual orientation at best which she isn't particularly open about. She doesn't wear any jewelry. She typically tries to look more fearsome. She has good posture and stands erect.

Personality: One could say she doesn't trust people. She is typically anti-social. She tries to look fierce to drive people away. This typically works. She, as you could probably guess, is not entirely fond of herself. She is also mentally and emotionally unstable. She does not show many other aspects of her personality. She does have a heart burried somewhere inside the tough "I don't need nobody" act.

History: She was born into the family of a Soldier. There was nothing really special about her mother. Her father was loving but strict. He was not harsh or abusive. He taught her how to shoot guns at a young age. She was particularly fond of her dad. Her dad was involved in a mission, and he unfortunately made it back in a body bag. Her grief stricken mother moved in with Secily's uncle. The uncle was an abusive drunk, and, simply put, he was by no means a gentleman. I assume I don't have to go into the specific horrors that he put them through. Secily was rather scathed. She obtained unhealthy dieting habits and spoiled her knife. She was having nightmares as well. She also began sketching horrible manifestations and depictions of death, including that of her uncles. Her uncle did not find this amusing. She grew up ashamed by his words and actions. She was afraid of people and resolved to make them just as afraid of her. She was institutionalized after being ruled insane. This was after she murdered her uncle. She was in the process of being rehabilitated, but she woke up one day finding herself outside in a strange town underneath a set of wooden stairs leading up to a porch.

Additional Information: Secily has her knife. She has her phone, which is having issues. It seems to not have service, the battery won't deplete, and she is recieving texts without numbers. The texts seem ominous but show that she can recieve texts. Secily is also good with guns, but she does not have one right now.

I am a person of my word:

Name: Serena Dawson

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Description: Standing with an almost willow frame and slightly on the short side at 5'5”, Serena is not likely to turn any heads on the street for standing out. She keeps her straight black hair just beyond shoulder-length and tends to keep it down, rarely tying it back. Her dark brown eyes are framed by a pair of slightly oval framed glasses. As for clothing she prefers darker colors, usually a slate grey longsleeved shirt with black slacks with matching sneakers. For accessories, she has a satchel of old books that she refuses to let anyone else touch.

Personality: At first sight, most assume Serena to be a typical wallflower- she tends to stand back and let others decide while rarely offering suggestions. In reality she is almost always observing, trying to figure out situations and how they will end. After doing this for years, it's become almost a form of hobby for her. It's not until one strikes up a conversation with her that people realize there is more going on than meets the eye.

When spoken to one-on-one, her demeanor appears to change. Rather than shy, she becomes immediately direct and tries to control the subject of the conversation. In the rare case someone appears interested in her books, Serena will show a more talkative side- to the fortune/misfortune of the listener.

History: Serena's childhood was a normal one, save for the fact that she didn't remember her real father. When she was very young, her mother had left her hometown and husband due to an event that had left the community in disarray. While Serena had been taken with her, she had no memories of the town save that apparently a disaster had happened not long after they had left. Her mother never spoke of the subject, but a few years later she remarried and took on her new husband's family name, trying to erase all evidence of being connected to that place.

While Serena kept any curiosity about her mother's prior life well out of her mind, she never really cared much for the other children or socializing in general, finding it all to be a waste of time. This disinterest slowly became annoyance over time as she discovered just how shallow people could be, then extreme dislike. Even taking psychology in her final year of high school then advancing on college taking courses into the subject couldn't help her understand the reason why humanity acted in the narrow-minded and chaotic way she seemed to always see. It wasn't until she began to dig into her parent's attic, looking for a way to kill time one afternoon, that she found something that finally seemed to click for her.

Inside one box, shoved far into the back and long forgotten, lay several books with strange markings on the cover. Nearly all appeared to give info about some form of religion that Serena could not make heads of tails of at first but made more sense over time. They talked of order, and how the current world was full of discord and must be cleansed. Placing the books inside another box and tossing a few assorted objects on top, she managed to further read in her room without her mother's knowledge. It wasn't until a couple years later when, finally confronting her mother about wanting to know more about her father's side of the family, that she had accidentally let slip just where she had found info about the name of her hometown due to it never being mentioned. When her mother found out that her old books were in her daughter's possession, she quickly took measures to attempt to retrieve and destroy them, making sure no one could read them again. Refusing to let what she now considered a priceless treasure to be destroyed, Serena quickly took the books from the house and drove away, adamant on finally returning back to her old home of Silent Hill.

Despite managing to find the town on an old map she had discovered wedged in one of the books, finding its location proved to be difficult; some roads appeared to be blocked off, while others had clearly not been driven upon for years. It wasn't until she reached what she assumed to be the outskirts of town when she thought she saw a person off in the distance, mostly hidden by fog. As she drove closer her car came to a dead stop, refusing to start back up. Cursing her bad luck, Serena took her satchel and continued the journey on foot, traveling into the fog and what hopefully would give her the answers she yearned for.

Additional Info: Serena is far from the athletic type, but is not out of shape- she's not going to run any marathons, but won't tire after only a few moments running either. She also possess a cellphone, which I assume won't work right if at all.

Double-postin', whoo!

Name: Krystal Tompson

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Description: Krystal is about 5’6” tall and weighs around 115 lbs. She is lean and slim, and has subtle muscles thanks to her habit of going to the gym to work out for an hour every day. She has hip-length burgundy hair and eyes that are such a striking shade of electric-blue they almost look like they’re glowing. She could be considered pretty, but sees herself as average in terms of looks. Her hair is usually done up in a simple braid to keep it out of the way.

Krystal usually wears lighter clothes, preferring colors like white, tan, and baby-blue over darker colors. She has several pairs of steel-toes shoes (a force of habit after she was nearly kidnapped in her younger years), and these are generally the only dark things she wears.

Krystal has three long parallel scars that run from her right side to her belly button. She can’t remember how she got them, but knows it was something bad that caused them. She has a habit of wearing long shirts to reduce the risk of anyone seeing the scars should her shirt hike up a bit, as she finds them ugly and is extremely self-conscious about them. People who do notice them are given a very curt, “I don’t remember” whenever they ask about them.

Personality: Krystal is a very social, outgoing person who enjoys meeting new people. She isn’t shy and will gladly strike up conversations with strangers. She is easy to get along with and has a large sense of humor, and will do her best to cheer up someone who’s clearly unhappy whether she knows them or not. She tries her best to be optimistic, feeling that being depressed and angry leads to nothing but heartache and sorrow in the end. Even in hard times she does her best to find the silver lining.

Krystal also tends to put others before herself, which means she usually neglects her own needs or desires. She dislikes competition and isn’t a fan of arguing; this doesn’t mean she’ll hide or lie about her beliefs just to avoid a confrontation. She usually just ignores someone if they harass her for what she believes in. She refuses to be baited into petty disagreements and has a strong distaste for people who enjoying heckling others.

Krystal doesn’t get mad very often, as her positive outlook on life and general easy-going nature let her shrug off comments or actions that would fluster others. However, a good way to make her very angry is to hurt someone she cares about, no matter whether physically, emotionally, or mentally. She hates physical confrontation as much as verbal confrontation, but won’t hesitate to throw a punch in defense of a loved one. Thanks to the past several years of her working out, she’s actually pretty tough and can easily hold her own in a melee fight.

Krystal is one of those people who is very trusting, while taking betrayal very poorly. She can become very close to someone within a matter of days, which isn’t surprising considering she’ll stand up for someone she doesn’t even know. While she doesn’t react well to people who turn out to be untrustworthy, she can’t help but give everyone she meets the benefit of the doubt. There are those who think this open nature is to counter the fact that she was nearly abducted when she was younger; instead of letting her fear get the best of her, she overcame it and became the friendly person she is today.

There are times when Krystal will get into what she calls a “Mood”. During these times she becomes quiet and withdrawn, as well as very anxious and tense. She will do everything in her power to avoid being alone when struck by a Mood, as being on her own leaves her feeling incredibly vulnerable and fearful. The Moods don’t tend to last very long and only occur once in a while, but they can be worrisome to those who aren’t accustomed to them.

History: For as long as she could remember, Krystal had been able to see things other people couldn’t. Ghosts, spirits, demons, entities…whatever you wanted to call them, Krystal had the ability to perceive them and converse with them. She quickly learned not to mention these beings to her parents or other people after realizing they were different from the imaginary friends other children had. On top of that, the spirit of an elderly man named John had explained to her in one of his first visits that Krystal was special for being able to see him, but should keep the knowledge to herself since others wouldn’t understand and might think her odd. Many of the things she could see were inhuman, but only a very small number of them ever scared Krystal, and even fewer ever tried to hurt her. Most of the beings she met were rather protective of her, and would fend off others that meant her harm.

When she was eight, however, Krystal began to see something that terrified her quite a bit. It was a tall man dressed in a black suit with a red tie and no face. She would normally see him when she woke up in the middle of the night, but would be too afraid to cry or call for her parents. Sometimes spirits would try to comfort her, telling her to not be afraid of what she called the Skinny Man, that if she wasn’t afraid he couldn’t hurt her. During the several months she saw him, Krystal began to develop strange symptoms such as bouts of sudden coughing, agonizing headaches, and frequent nosebleeds. She also became extremely fearful, to the point where her parents had her seeing a child psychiatrist. The weekly sessions didn’t help her at all, and instead her condition grew worse.

Krystal abruptly went missing about a month before her ninth birthday, before returning one day before her birthday. When she returned it was in a nearby park, where a couple who recognized her from various missing flyers took her to the police station. Krystal had no memory of the time she was gone, but would wake up screaming and crying every night for the next year. It was when she returned that her parents discovered the three scars on Krystal’s side and stomach, but the girl didn’t remember how she’d gotten them. However, after the month she was gone, she no longer saw the Skinny Man, and her night terrors and paranoia slowly began to dwindle until she no longer had them. The other symptoms she had cleared up as well, and the young girl moved on with her life.

Things were relatively normal until she turned fourteen. She was walking home from the library after night had fallen when a blue car started to slowly drive beside her. After about three blocks the car stopped and an older man got out, following her on foot for another two blocks. He then rushed at the teenager and tried to grapple her to the ground, but thanks to the fact that she’d already been working out after school for about a year, the girl was able to wiggle away. A kick to the groin left the man temporarily incapacitated, and Krystal took the time to run to the nearest house. After explaining what had happened, the people called the police and the offender was arrested about twenty minutes later.

Everything was normal after that, or as normal as being able to see and talk to random beings could be. Krystal finished school, got a job working at a local pet store a few days after her nineteenth birthday, and moved into her own place about a month later. She often debated going to college, but ultimately decided she was more than happy working with animals all day (not to mention the pay and benefits were pretty good for a simple pet store). On the third anniversary of her hiring date, her vacation time was extended by two days. Deciding to use the 9-day break to do a bit of traveling and see the sights of other states, Krystal put in for her vacation time.

On the third day of her vacation, Krystal was approaching a closed-off town known as Silent Hill. Upon realizing she had to turn around and take a different road to go around the city, the young woman saw a person moving around off to the side of the road. The way they were moving made it seem like they were hurt, and being the caring person she is, Krystal pulled over and got out to ask if they were okay. The next thing she knew, an awful pain exploded in the back of her head and caused her to black out. When she came to, she found herself in a fog-enshrouded place that she didn’t recognize. After taking time to collect her wits, the young woman set off to find out where the hell she was and how she’d gotten there.

Additional Information: Krystal prefers going by Kris, as she finds the full use of her name too weird (odd, perhaps, that she doesn’t like being called a stone but doesn’t mind being called by a guy’s name). She was wearing khakis, a white long-sleeved t-shirt, and a black pair of steel-toed shoes when she was knocked out, so it’s what she’s wearing now. There are also very few entities that Krystal is aware of now, and when she tries to speak to them they ignore her. This, more than anything, has her unsettled and nervous, as entities have never before ignored her when she spoke to them.

I am sure we were allowed to bunny Slenderman slightly
I set up a brief moment
That is okay right?

You don't actually have to see him; it could be your mind or eyes playing tricks on you or something. Or perhaps a subconscious realization of Slendy's presence. But it doesn't have to be his physical character that was seen; that way, if Zolar wants to go with it he can, but if he wants to be doing something else, he can do that too and no one is affected adversely.

Also, gonna be posting for Cella in a different color so people can tell just by the post color which character the post is for.

Well it could always be her imagination and Slenderman, or the mind's apparition, isn't there very long so it kinda makes sense.

I can probably facepalm here, I just realized Secily and Cella have the same last name.
I didn't do that on purpose.

Is it too late to join in? If not, may I have a reservation? I love both Silent Hill and Slenderman, so a roleplay with both is just too good to pass up.

I don't see why not. I'll get Jess to reserve you a spot.

Never too late to join, I'll go ahead and reserve ya a spot :D.

And lol Drago, when I noticed our chars had the same last name, I was like "Oh hey it'd be a neat plot twist if they turned out to be half-sisters or something".

We could implement that
It may be almost humorous to the ill-minded since my character may probably hound yours as a Proxy

Decided to post this for gits and shiggles. Not necessarily true.

Name: Slenderman

Age: Unknown

Gender: Presumably Male

Description: Tall, lanky with long limbs. Always wears a tuxedo and red tie. Able to create tendrils out of body. Did I forget to mention the lack of a face?

Personality: Stalkerish. Likes to follow people around then use them to his pleasure. Could be for a drinking friend or slaughtering a family, depends on his mood. Often gets frustrated due to his lack of a face and can't show emotion.

History: He wasn't born; nor created. He has always existed. Many fear him for some strange reason. He just wants hugs. Last girlfriend left him because he wouldn't show her any emotion. Kind of hard without a face... Now he is angry and wants to kill people as a result. Good job, ex-girlfriend.

Additional Information: He is a great lover.

I KNEW HE JUST WANTED HUGS. With arms like that how could he not? He'd be AWESOME in a group hug. Also I lol'ed more than I should have over this. APPROVED SO HARD.

I hope people realize this isn't serious XD...

PH and other SH monsters are pretty much NPCs. Anyone can play them as long as they don't randomly kill other people lol.

Dragotech
12-25-2012, 11:03 PM
Oh well, I no getz to troll people with PH, but you have to admit it, it would be fun

I set Secily up to meet Cella, let the awkward possible family reunion commence... at some point before proxy-hood because it would be even more awkward afterward.
That would probably be due to the fact that my character would probably like to see what happens when a human head is shoved into a meat-grinder.
That would probably make large family reunions awkward. Time to break out the formal straight-jacket.

Haha, the stress of Adelaide's death, on top of losing a possible half-sister, is going to make Cella very unhappy with Slendy. She'll end up sending him a strongly worded letter, and if that doesn't get any results, she'll send him a VERY strongly worded letter.

Also, my most recent post in the RP is just setting certain tasks for everyone to get to if/when they want to. Think of them as goals, like you get in a video game to help progress the story and nudge you in the right direction. You don't have to rush off to do anything particular, you can even completely ignore the goal given for your character if you like and do other random things. If you can't think of something to do, though, you can always work towards your goal.

BTW, Lurkers are things I just randomly came up with. They're a common type of monster, but unlike most other common monsters, these ones are extremely intelligent. They don't necessarily work for Slenderman and aren't under his direct control, but they do still carry out his will in most cases. I'll draw a picture later so everyone can get an idea of what they look like.

Name: James
Age:15
Gender: Male
Description: Tall for a 15 year old, but physically weak. Has straight black hair, and green eyes. Usually wears black jeans, and a black hooded jacket. He has black and green headphones which are usually sitting on his neck.
Personality: James seems emotionless. He rarely becomes attached to people. He has seen people live and die, so deaths of others don't upset him too much, but he rarely is ever 'happy'. He is usually in the 'grey zone'. However, he has a strong sense of morals and justice. He won't cause unnessecary pain to someone who doesn't deserve it. He also has a strong sense of loyalty, and will honour a debt. When he is in the proxy mindset, he has no control, and will often go too far with what his orders are. But his sense of loyalty remains in this mindset, and he will not harm someone who has stopped him from harm, and will stop anyone from harming them (even slenderman)unless he has already returned the favour...
History: When James was 4, he and his parents went camping in the woods. In the middle of the night, Slenderman attacked his parents, whilst remaining invisible to James. James parents were impaled on trees. Slenderman then turned James into a proxy, but the mindset wasn't used. A few days later the police found James and his parents bodies. James grew up in an orphanage from then on, and on his 15th birthday, the proxy mindset kicked in for the first time. As far as he knows he blacked out, then woke up at Silent Hill. In reality, the mindset took over. He murdered some of the employees at the orphanage, and torched it. He then disappeared. He woke up at silent hill a week after this.
Additional Information: James has nothing with him, except the clothes on his back.

Before I approve of this, you might want to read up on Proxies. Here. (http://theslenderman.wikia.com/wiki/Proxy) It says that in a Proxy state, the Proxy has a 'black out' of sorts and that there is an alter ego, so to speak, created for this time. So for one to keep morals that they have during regular life would be near impossible.

[SIZE=2][COLOR="#000080"][CENTER]

I don't know how clear I made it. I was going by this. what I meant was that this loyalty, and feeling of debt gives him the will to disobey. I understand the rest is an alter ego sorta thing.

I should have clarified that note a bit more. That's for characters who become Proxies during the course of the RP, not characters who start off as one. TBH I wasn't expecting anyone to come into the RP already Proxified. Having spent so many years under Slendy's influence would have gradually wore away your character's ability to resist, so he won't be able to do it in most cases (as opposed to a newly-made Proxy, who hasn't spent too much time in Slendy's control and retains more of their willpower, which is what that note is referencing).

So long as Zolar is fine with it, I have no issues either. Just make sure not to go around defying Slendy all the time, or you might get a strongly worded letter lol.

Dragotech
12-28-2012, 02:43 AM

Okay guys I have news. In just over two weeks, I start school again for my final year. It is crucial that my marks improve if I want to get into a good Uni course, and get a good job when I finish. So I am eliminating a lot of possible distractions from school work. I am deleting facebook, and leaving permanently or temporarily, alot of RPs. What I am getting at is before I start school, Isaac will be dead, and James, well I don't know what is happening with James. I still want to be involved but I cannot be anywhere near as active. If I can stay involved in this, he will be travelling alone, so he cannot slow everyone else down with my lack of activity. I will try and post when I can, but school takes priority. Anyway, I am giving permission for Slenderman to kill off Isaac, however he sees fit. James on the other hand, I am still deciding his fate...

EDIT: drago and I have been talking. How would you guys feel about James' proxy mindset taking over, and having him turn on Isaac and kill him. The rest of the group dont know he is a proxy. They just think he is insane or something. Secily stabs him in the stomach, but Slenderman shows up and they run. They assume James was killed, either by the stab wound or Slenderman. Since Slenderman still had a use for James, he took him somewhere, where he lay unconcious for a long time (when I cannot post) and slowly but steadily heals>

This is a very rough idea, but this way we can kill off Isaac, and still have James involved in the RP without my marks suffering.

Considering we effectively don't have a Slenderman currently, I'd say yes unless a replacement can be found.
