Okay, just about every vet has told me that a confused pokemon is not confused anymore when it's put to sleep. Now I've been told that I'm wrong, so can somebody lighten this up? And also, if you stay confused while asleep, do you count the turns that it sleeps as turns for confusion?

I've always kept a pokemon confused when it as asleep. And I've always counted the turns also. But I don't know the answers to those questions either.

From what i've played on my FireRed GBA game, when its asleep and confused, it stays asleep without the confusion activating. Then, when the Pokemon is awake and you call an attack, the confusion continues as normal until it isn't confused anymore.

Well, technically, Confusion lasts a number of turns in which the message "X is confused" appears. So, if a pokémon falls asleep, that message is not shown, therefore the confusion counter is not affected, UNLESS, that pokémon uses Sleep talk or Snore. In that case, the message "X is confused" does appear, therefore counting toward the number of turns. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Yes, right there. That's how I think it goes...but I could be wrong.

Speaking of sleep, is there a set maximum number of turns that a Pokemon can remain asleep for, or is it until the dice roll favors you and you wake up?
I read somewhere that the maximum number is five turns asleep, but I could be wrong.

Sleep is 1-7 turns, confusion is 1-4 turns.
