TMI: New Forum Feature Idea

I made this topic because HKim thought I should for discussing it . And yes, I do have an idea for a new forum feature. If you didnt read about it in the TMI topic then I will post it here.

I made it at another forum site (which is dead now. Baka site) over a year ago.

It's for dragons. All kinds, even made up (the ones who run the Dragon thing will be in charge of makeing up new types)
The City is called, Scale City. There are many places to go to inside the city and outside the city.

First you go to the lab and aquire your dragon egg. Then after a period of time I, or someone else who is incharge PM's the egg owner saying that their egg has hatched aswell as what type of dragon it is, the gender, and blah blah blah. When your dragon hatch's it is just a Drake (baby dragon). You can raise it as you post and the more you raise it the more things you can do. There is a city square for shoping, a battle arena for training your dragon, and much more. You can even make stories up to go on an adventure with your dragon to gain their respect. At a certain point of respect you can go to the square and buy a "Dragon Rideing Kit" and ride your dragon through your story makeing it more fun. After a LONG while your dragon will grow old and you can leave it at the "Elders Center" where all elder dragons are cared for by other people. And you can go back to the lab and get another egg to start all over again.

I also made up this cool item that is in one of the shops at the square. They are called Dragon Cubes. They all come in diferent colors and, are made for specific dragons. Dragons are picky about what they eat so speciale cubes are made for them. Say you have a Pyrro dragon and you try to give it a Miner (my made up) dragons cube. The Pyrro will slap it away immidiately. But some dragons will try other dragons cubes. It doesnt mean they will like it it just means they will try it.

I had spent over 2 months makeing this before posting it on the first forum site. I had written over 100 pages of notes and descriptions for this.

The notes were all accidentily thrown away when my mom cleaned my room but, I have started to re-write it. More things have beeen added that revolve around the Dragon language I made up.

At certain times a dragon owner will recieve a PM with a note written in the dragon language. They have to decode it and when they do there will be a hidden message. Now, this part I am still working out so it isn't perfect.

Also when I was at school I made some more areas to be put into Scale City and even an outskirts area where more things are to do such as:

-raceing grounds (still working on this one)

hehe, ideas for the outskirts are still being thought up but, some things I had in the city such as the Elders Center will be moved to the outskirts.

Well, what do you guys think?

Seems sorta like VPP. Who knows it could do well?

It's a great idea and all. But it's only for dragons. Not everyone likes dragons. Maybe we can make it for all mon. Each type of mon would have its own town kind of thing. We'd expand this to fit all types. But it's your idea so you'd be in charge of what goes. I'm not sure if I can do anything to help, but it was just a thought. :wink:

Good point...maybe you could also choose between Gryphons and Unicorns, or something like that.

Otherwise, I like the idea. It's like the VPP or URPG, but it's something other than Pokemon. It would probably appeal to most members. :wink:

What I like about this idea is the way that it would encourage people to post more, in order to make their dragon better. More people posting, more activity on the forums...

^^ Thanks and sure, I could put in Gryphons and Unicorns. I will think up of things for them to do aswell in Scale city.

-Quake
-Morph
-Bone
-Muscle (pure strength and nothing else)
-Skalle
-Spell
-Land
-Shift
-Alter
-Plasma

Some dragon types I may not use but the top 3 and the very last one I am useing.

I do like the idea and I think we can go far with it.

What I wonder is how popular this might be on a Pokemon Forum. I don't know how many people like dragons here (I do), but I'm sure not everyone does.

Perhaps we can expand on it. Similar to adding unicorns, why not add Pokemon to the list as well and keep dragons in? Sure, it might be a bit more work, but it would definitely appeal to the main audience here.

Actually, now that I think about it, this sounds quite intriguing. Could it be possible to combine the World of Pokemon with the World of Fantasy? Instead of the Pokemon World based similar to the world of today, what would the Pokemon World be like in the world of our dreams? How would dragons and pokemon interact? What kind of possibilites are there?

If we start with dragons and pokemon, we could perhaps expand it later on to other mystical creatures like unicorns. A new RPG based not only on the saga set down by Pokemon, but also on the very legends and myths that flow through our culture. It will be something new. Where will that take us and where can we go?

That actualy sounds really cool Harry. We'd add maybe magic potions in the mart or whatever. This project seems even bigger than the URPG. But I was wondering. We already have a pokemon based RPG. Maybe this should stay soley (Sp?) on mythical creatures. Maybe add Leprachans or any other mythical creatures that are known.

We could have a poll here on the forums first and see what most people think of this idea and if they would participate in it.

And maybe we could have "Legendaries" like Basilisks, Titans, etc...

Well, this is of course going to be different from the URPG. In fact, I want to look into perhaps a new kind of interactive system. The URPG focuses mainly around battles and stories. That can be done here, yes, but perhaps in a different fashion. A roleplay (the writing kind) would be quite interesting in this world of fantasy and pokemon.

There are many ideas that we can do.

I like these ideas. I didn't give much input at first because I didn't think that it would do well on a Pokemon forum, but some of these new ideas sound cool.

it seems very openended. For instance: Are Dragons equal to Pokemon? Are pokemon veiwed more intelligent because they can say their names? Will Dragon Type Pokemon be counted along with the dragons?

Seems like something new.... me like.
