Ai and Mewtwo

Um... so has anyone seen it? ^_^ It's actually the only thing that I like about Pokemon anime.

I hope you won't mind if I just quote what I wrote in other thread.... ^_^;;;


A short summary for people who haven't seen it... =p

A group of scientists (And one of them was Dr. Fuji! :wink2: ) found Mew's DNA in South America. Then Giavanni (sp?) (The leader of Team Rocket) asked Fuji to use the DNA to remake that pokemon again so he gave Fuji a lot of money to make the lab and stuff. But the only thing that Fuji wanted from this was to gain knowledge about how to recreate life because he wanted to bring his little girl back to life. (His daughter, Ai, died in a car accident long time ago. :sad: ) So he finally did it and they showed these two tubes and one of them had Ai2 (Ai2 looked a little different from the real Ai BTW. She had brown hair insted of purple) and the other one had Mew2. (Mewtwo, he was just a cute little baby at that time ^_^)

So then they showed inside of Mew2's head. He was thinking: "Where am I? Who am I? Wha am I?"

Then Ai came inside of his mind (she had telepathic powers somehow :eh: ) so he asked: "who are you?"

She laughed and said: "what do you mean? I'm a girl, a person ^_^."

Mewtwo: "A person? Am I a person?"

Aitwo: "You look like a pokemon, but you talk ^_^. I didn't know pokemon could talk."

Mewtwo: "pokemon? Person? What's the difference? Which one am I?"

Aitwo: "Maybe it makes the difference to you if you are a pokemon or a person, not to me ^_^. I guess if you are in this place, you are the same as all of us."

Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squrtle (sp?) appeared (Pikachu and Meowth appeared as well in the CD drama) and they all stared to play together.

Then they showed the real world again. Fuji was telling Giavoni that the cloning process was a success then later he looked at Ai in the tube and said: "Soon I wil be able to see my little girl smile again." Then they showed a flashback where his wife thought that he was crazy so she left him. :cry:

Meanwhile, Aitwo was teaching Mewtwo about different stuff like sun, wind, and even about God... But then Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squrtle faded and died. And then Ai started to fade so Mewtwo asked what was going on, but she said she didn't know but she had to go. Mewtwo stated to cry while a very sad music was playing. :cry: He said: "I'm in a tube, in water, but more water is coming out of my eyes. What is this?" She said: "Those are tears. You're crying. When I was alive my daddy used to tell me a bed time story that when pokemon are sad, and they cry, their tears are filed with light. (As seen in Pokemon the First Movie :smile: ) Thank you for caring about me, Mewtwo, but I have to leave now."

Mewtwo: "But why?"

Aitwo: "I don't know. But don't cry Mewtwo. You are alive. And life is wonderf... wonderful" And she died... :cry: The saddest thing about this is that she died the second time in her life because her father tried to revive her and that's what made Mewtwo mad so he kind of woke up and started to glow with energy. Scientests got scared and reset his memory. Of course Fiji was sad that his daughter died again. :neutral:

But then Mewtwo grew up in that tube and became the Mewtwo that we all know and he said: "I have been in here for so long. But why? Something.... Someone told me... that life is wonderful. But why..." Then he remembered Mew, thought about stuff like what was he living for and then he finally broke out of the glass. Fuji and other scientists were happy and stuff, said hi to Mewtwo and told him that they created him. He rembered Ai, got mad at them and killed Fuji and the other scientests for trying to recreate life. Then he blew up the lab and met Giavanni. Giavanni told Mewtwo that he will show him the purpose of life and I think this is when Pokemon the First Movie started. They beat Shigeru (Gary in US) in the the gym but then they had to leave so it was a lot easier for Satoshi (Ash in US) to get the badge by beating Jessy and James who were given permission to be gym leaders while Giavanni was gone. Well you know the story after this if you watched the first movie.

Yea, there's a lot of people that didn't know about this. For those that don't know, this special is called "Mewtwo's Origin," which is found on the DVD version of Mewtwo Returns.

Mewtwo Returns follows off where the first movie left off. It went directly to DVD/VHS (same thing for Japan). On the DVD special features, you'll find Mewtwo's Origin. Great story behind Mewtwo, and if you haven't seen it, you definitely want to track down this DVD and see it.

Yeah... I looked it up on the internet. Ai and Mewtwo came out with the one hour special episode: Mewtwo Returns.

But...the title was changed from Ai and Mewtwo to Mewtwo's Origin.. And Ai's name was changed to "Ember"... o__o Why on earth did they change her name? They could have at least changed it to "Love" since that's what "Ai" means in Japanese. :neutral:

It's a mini episode...

Ai and Mewtwo came out with the one hour special episode: Mewtwo Returns. Even though it had nothing to do with the story.

Pokemon the First Movie is actually supposed to be the sequel to Ai and Mewtwo.

I think you're referring to Mewtwo Strikes Back. There is another special episode DVD: Mewtwo Returns which contains Mewtwo's Origin with Ai in it. (Ember in English version because of the crappy dub...)

At the time when Pokemon was a huge craze in the UK, Mew and Mewtwo were the most popular Pokemon wanted. Before Pokemon The First Movie was released, a friend at school brought in a pirate version(I know it's bad) and we all watched it. It was very cool and stuff, but i always knew there was a missing part.

Anyways, i'd like to see this sequel/episode or whatever it is. Certainly the baby Mewtwo looks brill!

I can't stand 4Kids. I'll bet they took so long to show "Ai and Mewtwo" because they thought it was too intense that the real Ai died and then Aitwo and the clones of the three starter Pokemon. I'm surprised they have it available at all. Also interesting is the part about mentioning God. I think it's great they did that, but in the dub it is mysteriously missing. Ai (or "Amber" as she is called in the dub) only mentions the sun, wind, etc. Sad when a mostly non-Christian nation like Japan will mention God but then American dubbers take it out when America was founded on Christianity, but anyway, just a thought.
I would love to see the Japanese version of the short once I learn the language. It's really a deep, interesting, and moving story. And I hear that there's even more on the Radio Drama CD that comes with the "Birth of Mewtwo" CD (this is Japanese I'll have you know).

Agreed. Pokemon just has a lousy dub. I like the dubs for other anime I've seen like Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, etc. alot, but Pokemon's was ruined. 4Kids messes with everything. I think it sucks they changed the names of everything. Satoshi is changed to Ash Ketchum, Masara Town is changed to Pallet Town, Hitokage is changed to Charmander, etc. Jouto and Houen were even changed to Johto and Hoenn. That wasn't even necessary. And granted yes, Nintendo changed alot of the names when the games were put into English, so I partially blame them for this too. The dub voices started out ok, but now they've fallen way off, and aren't anything like the Japanese ones. Satoshi and Kojiro are some good examples. When Veronica Taylor started doing Satoshi's voice, it was alot closer to Rika Matsumoto's voice than it is today. Now it's all raspy and different. Kojiro's started pretty similar to the Japanese voice, and now it's an annoying gay voice (granted Kojiro cross dresses and all, but please, let's make this a little less annoying). And some of the new voices, like Booby (Magby) and Konohana (Nuzleaf), make me wince when I hear them. Lines are also changed or removed, as well as parts of eps I'm sure. And of course there are cut eps, like "Legend of Dratini" and "Electric Porygon Soldier", and God only knows why 4Kids was so lazy as to not dub the special episodes of Advance Generation. Then there's the music. Instead of leaving in the Japanese BGMs, which are very well done and fun to listen to, 4Kids decided to make their own music. So much of it is just dead annoying. The only dub music I really like is the stuff from the movies. That they actually did a good job one. But most of the tunes from the TV show are horrible. And finally, we come to the openings and endings. The only dub opening I liked much was the first season one. 2-5 are ok, but I detest the new 6th season one. It's awful, and not Japanese at all. And you can tell the visuals are cut up and sped up. I don't see why they couldn't have just left in all of the Japanese ones and added subtitles, or at least dubbed them. And while there are endings in Japan, there are none in the US. So yes, it seems virtually everything is changed. Down with 4Kids! Up with a company who will do a good dubbing job!

Double-Agreed. I don't speak much Japanese but I can figure it out. Theve screwed with it so bad, Its not even funny. Satoshi sounds like a stinkin dead mouse, Haruka sounds like a teen, and Kojiro as you said sounds like he sould be going to gay bars. :susp: 4-Kids have messed with it so much, it makes me sick. :snooty:

I consider Haruka as about 13 or so, but her dub voice sounds annoying and whiny. And at points it does share some similarities with Satoshi's mom. Her Japanese voice is a million times better. It's a much more beautiful voice.

I've only seen the first, second, and third movies. I absolutely must go and rent all of the others. If Mewtwo Returns was a special, how come other specials like the one focused on Raikou didn't make it to the U.S. dubbed?
