View Full Version : New Changes for the New Year
As 2005 comes to a close and 2006 begins to form, so has PE2K begun transforming to fit the new era. We have a ton of new features to enhance the experience of all PE2K Members.
First off, we are proud to announce the return of the Netbattle League under the leadership of IT. He and the other moderators will work to modify the section for the members. For now the League is close, but hopefully will open within the near future.
In addition, the art section has gone through its own change, by now combining both Fan Art and Sprites together into a new art section. In addition, a new sub-section has been added for Pokemon Art Contests. So, check out the new art section!
The Ministry of Innovation now has its own section. TMI has been working hard to bring to PE2K new ideas and new thoughts. If you're interested in helping out PE2K, join TMI today. TMI's now has a subsection in Question/Feedback to the Webmaster.
Neo Pikachu has been promoted to Global Moderator again. We believe he has shown great maturity and activity both in the past and the present. Undoubtedly, he will be an excellent addition to the PE2K Staff.
There is change in the air and it is up to use to seize the moment and dream up the next adventure for PE2K. Who knows what is in store for us in this journey, but for now let's go forward and never look back! For PE2K! For the Members! For Our Dreams!
Since that first post is an announcement, I'll post my thoughts here.
First off, Congratulations to Neo. I have long believed that Neo not only has earned his position in the past, but has also proven his dedication to PE2K. It is not often that a former GMod is remodded, but Neo certainly has proven is possibility today. Welcome back, old friend.
Also, congratulations to IT, Khold, and Rhauk. You guys are some of the smartest members on the forum and we know you'll do an excellent job guiding the Netbattle League back into activity. I look forward to working with you.

I really like all of the new changes that has appeared... PE2K is now even more organized than ever before. I personally love the fact that the Art section now has a seperate board for contests. I've noticed that more and more members are being competitive with each other through their artwork. Great stuff to see.
Congratulations to Neo Pikachu once again for his G-Mod position! No surprise there... you've done so much for all of us here, and you've kept your cool through the good times and the bad. I wish you lots of luck in the future. Congrats to everyone else who is willing to make a change around the boards. This step forward will be a great advantage to how visitors will judge us.
I know I'm not a very active member, but I will try to make it here more often to see all of the changes take place over the next few weeks... and if I have the time I would love to participate in a few of PE2K's events again.

Congrats NP! You totally deserved it. =D
And great to see the NB up again too, even though I haven't the slightest idea about what it's all about  lol
As for the Art section, it would be a lot better if we could get more people to join the contests. This'll be something the Art Department will be working on in the future.

If I am a mod, why do I not see the nametag change?:eh:
[edit]
Nevermind, the last time I logged in I didn't see anything, lol
[edit 2]
Also, thanks guys, I will do my best to bring back the greatness that was the NBL before my departure last year. I congratulate everyone on their hard work, and I hope we all can keep up the work :)

Congrats to everyone, and let's make PE2K a whole heck of a lot better!
now I have to outdo IT in some way I'm not sure of.
Yeah, he beat us to it... Heck, what else could be expected. He's way more active than I am.
Thanks guys! The green color doesn't suit my name too well though.
It feels so funny now... I bet not too many of you remember my first months at pe2k, that's mainly because I didn't know there was a forum outside the Strategies and Movesets... But yeah, I wasn't that bad of a noob back then, or at least that's what I think. I managed to get some friends and then by joining the Brotherhood of Steel, the WAR team, I got even more and got to know many of you guys. I gotta admit, I wanted to be something good on this forum because a year ago, my life was just ****...I was hoping to do something good at least in my e-life, because I failed at the real life.
Then I joined URPG, something fairly new to me. In a year, I got a new URPG record, the longest story, I got two URPG awards, got a Grader/Ref/Gym Leader/Co-Official position and started a tournament that would last for almost a year. This was all good to me, but my real life started going "upwards" as well, I solved the problems with my friends, school started going a little better and I met the girl I love.
Half of my achievements had now been gotten. Then the first time NBL started, I was hoping to do something with it, maybe become a gym leader, or even an official. I failed. Then pe2k went down. I managed to "leave" the forums before it did go down. In fact, I never really left, just that real life was far better than before and I enjoyed it more than e-life.
I came back right when the forum got started again and was hoping to be a part of the community again. And now, I'm a mod, NBL mod. My name is green. My achievements on this forum have been a success.
Now you guys probably wonder why I wrote all this stuff since it's just a NBL mod position. The reason: I could just leave now, couldn't I? I've done what I wanted to do here, and it was a success.
Also, congrats to Neo, everyone knew that you'd be a Gmod again. And congrats to my fellow NBL mods, Rhauk and Khold, I seriously hope we can work things out with the NBL, get it active, get new members to join Pe2k because of it and to have fun with it. I'm greatly looking forward to it.

Glad to see NBL up again, this will sure give forum some more activity. And I would congradulate neo on his position that he has retaken because he earned it and deserved it for sure. Congradulation guys, and I hope this year would be better for PE2K, URPG and NBL

Excellent, these are all some good positive changes. Congrats to Neo, IT, Khold and Rhauk, I'm sure you'll all do well.
Just a few additional changes that will affect the forum.
First off, we have two new moderators: Nefarious of the Art Boards and Daniella who will be the 7th (and returning) Global Moderator. These two have both experience and dedication and will certainly create a better place for all PE2K members. Congratulations to both of them.
In addition, if you look at the roleplaying section, you will notice two new sub-boards. The first board is sign-ups where members can post their roleplay idea and have members sign up there. The second is discussion which, as the name suggests, can be used to discuss the roleplay without resorting to OOC posts. Hopefully this will keep things a bit more organized in the roleplay section.
Anyway, that's all for now.

Sounds great.
I am never in the roleplay section, so that won't affect me, but the two new mods might
I beleive I have congratulated Dani, but I will say it again, this time to both of you::
Congratulations!! Nice to see that we are getting more mods to keep this place tidy.

And congrats Dani. You totally deserve it. I don't know much about the gym idea you started, but I know enough to agree that you deserve the G-mod position. ;D

Congrats on the modding guys. :)
After much discussion, Ryan, the administrator, has created new ranks for the PE2K members that will allow them to aim higher in their post count quests. All former ranks will remain the same while the newer ranks will be added for higher post count levels.
The new ranks and corresponding posts counts are:
Ranks
The more you post, the higher the rank you are. The ranks doesn't do anything, it's only an indication of how much a member has posted. The ranks:
Rookie Trainer: Less than 50 posts.
Amateur Trainer: More than 50 posts.
Experienced Trainer: More than 100 posts.
Master Trainer: More than 250 posts.
Elite Trainer: More than 500 posts.
After Achieving the Elite Trainer, You Will Get a Level Up for Each 1000 Posts
Elite Trainer (Level 1) - 1000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 2) - 2000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 3) - 3000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 4) - 4000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 5) - 5000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 6) - 6000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 7) - 7000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 8) - 8000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 9) - 9000 posts
Elite Trainer (Level 10) - 10,000 posts

Why does Elite Trainer ---> Elite Trainer (Level 1) make sense? I understand that it creates that divide between the levels, but really those two should have been levels 1 and 2.

Yea, probably doesn't make that much sense, but like you mentioned, it's easier to have level 1 for 1000, 2 for 2000, etc. So in other words, once you reach the Elite status, you need to earn your first level first.

Cookie cutter ranks don't tickle my fancy personally, but it's always a good idea to have more ranks :p
Though personally I'd love it if we had instead something like Youngster -> Jr. Trainer -> Bug Catcher -> Bug Maniac -> Cooltrainer -> Psychic -> Hiker -> etc. etc.
You get my point :p

I agree, the levels seem a little dull and uninteresting to me. Having something that matched up with true PKMN spirit (as in the games) would be slightly more interesting to me. But, in truth, I pay no attention to levels after they're considered elite. So, having different levels of elites to me means nothing.

I'm almost to my second level. They don't really matter to me but whatever.
Surly Professor
02-23-2006, 08:18 PM
Meh. Kinda dull.
I thought we'd just space the ranks out more, and maybe add a few ranks in between.
Something like:
Rookie Trainer: -100
Young Trainer: +100
Amateur Trainer: +250
Experienced Trainer: +500
Skilled Trainer: +1,000
Expert Trainer: +2,500
Professional Trainer: +5,000
Master Trainer: +7,500
Elite Trainer: +10,000
Really though, I think it's just incentive to spam.
Up with customs!

I personally don't like being called a rokie trainer, because i'm not, i just joined this forum relativly recently (i know that sounds really pathetic).
I would prefer the youngster>bug catcher>ect. progression. but it doesn't really matter too much

Ehh to complicated. Plus certain people would think certain trainer types were better than others.
I think the new system is at least a slight improvement.
And Orbulon, the ranks are to help refer to how long a person has been on pE2K so that rank fits you fine.

Cool some new ranks. Heh, I was wondering why there were levels by the eliet trainer rank under some peoples names. I didnt understand it and well, I now do.
^^ I am not going to set a goal to be level 10. I'm just gonna post like normal and let level 10 come to me. Even though I would have to be here for like..........years. lol

I'm not the sorta' person to make any kinda' aspiration to reach a higher rank, but it is still rather nifty to include them, as it was kinda' boring just being stuck as an Elite Trainer for the rest of time, XP
Congrats to everyone who has been Mod'ed or indeed re-Mod'ed, 'tis nice to know that our work-force is being bolstered by the best-of-the-best, ^_^ v
BTW, whoever hits Elite Trainer (Level 10) first gets a cookie, and you can have any sorta' cookie you like, as you'll have earned it, yup yup, that you will have done, ^_^ d
