We've all heard about the bad egg, right? Well, appearantly, its a glitch or a cheat. I really don't remember how I came across it.
Anyway, the Bad egg is an egg specifically named, "Bad Egg". It holds the ability of Pokerus as well, which is a Pokemon disease, which can be passed on that helps all Pokemon grow at rapid rates. It also holds an item, but you can't remove an item the Bad Egg has.
My few questions are the following.
What would be the item the Pokemon egg is holding?
What exactly hatches from the Bad Egg? I've heard Deoxys but not sure.
How long does it take to hatch?
I remember in Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal that a certain amount of steps is needed to hatch an egg. As of now, I've taken about 50,000 steps which I've kept count using a Daycare trick. Place a Pokemon into the Daycare, remember how much it needs until it gains a level. One step equals one exp. point. I used a Pokemon that needed about 10,000 points, then every lvl it grew, would be 10,000 steps. Anyway, how many steps?
Btw, is Bad Egg just a glitch?
Discuss, reason, and other crap.

The bad egg doesn't hatch. =\ I've never heard of it holding an item though. And it's just a glitch from hacking devices, if I remember correctly. =P

Yea, it's a glitch from cheating devices such as Action Replay of Gameshark. My brother had some. I told to restart his game, he did eventually.

It comes when you cheat badly. (Cheat right and it won't happen). I've heard two versions, one where it's just an identifier that you cheated in your game. The other type being one that will hatch, and upon hatching, ruin your savegame.
Regardless, delete it if you can.

Well, to say the least, I have been missing and gaining items lately in my Sapphire version. My Key items list:
Mach Bike
Go-google
Pokeblock case
Acro bike
Mach bike
Red orb
Blue Orb
letter
Blue Orb

I must find a way to do something. Well, until then, I'll use it to spread Pokerus to my Pokemon that need training. Yeah.

Yeah, bad eggs can do random things to your items and Pokemon.
Seeing you can't release eggs, you're going to have to start a new game to get rid of it...or I suppose you could trade it to a different game? Not sure about trading.
I had this great page about them, let me find it for you.
Ok, here it is: http://pokecollege.com/Spring.php?id=bad_egg It explains the different variations of the Bad Egg and what they can do. I hope it helps.

On my friend's saphire, I got him only 1 bad egg for fun and when I moved it to a different spot, I checked the empty spot I had moved it from and found a really freaky thingy that looks like the placeholder in the dex... but reversed.
I got the glitch and switched from box to box and its sprite kept changing from Wingull, Absol, Groudon, Deoxys, etc. Finally I put it in my party and got a golden Bulba! The trainer memo said it was making sounds or something like that and was going to hatch. Well, it did and basically nothing happened. The screen turned black but the music was still playing from the city I was in; Lilycove. I turned it off for the sake of his game not knowing the possible mishaps that could happen. I released it from my party. Thank freaking god.
I did the same to my other friend's ruby and started with one egg. Then 2. Then 4. Then 8. Then 16. Then 32, etc. Whenever I moved it, it duplicated. She has like seven boxes full of 'em.

What a destructive egg. I should try catching it in the Dewford cave glitch. This is getting interesting. But remember, curiousity killed the cat.
I wonder if I could get some glitched Pokemon, then trade them for keeps. That'd be awesome, but I'm too afriad for the well being of my other games.
This is seriously getting good. Glitches are fun. Ahh, I miss Glitch City and Missingno.

there are two variations of the bad egg:
one that just sits there and does nothing
the other that hatches after a few hundred steps and wrecks your game
hope to god you have the first kind.

Ok, this is a weird R/S trick, and apparently, our glitch friend Missingno has come to haunt us in R/S! This was tested by my friend, and it will screw up your game (there's an 85% chance anyways.) Ok, you have to restart you game. Then, once you do this, beat the game until the island (The one with a cave on the coast, Dew[ford] island). Well, there are 2 fishermen there that you can battle. Battle them in the order that they come. Then talk to the second one after the battles are over. Once you do this, go in the cave. Walk around, and soon you will find a POKéMON named ???BAD EGG???(its picture is a question mark) Catch him and go to your pc. Withdraw him, and your jaw will drop. Yes, it a bad egg, and its description is (no PokéDex entry). An egg that will never hatch. But, that's not all, for the rest of the game, sometimes even after you delete the game, every POKéMON that appears will be the ???BAD EGG??? POKéMON. It seems that R/S has its own Missingno and cinnabar island.

If you want to speed up the rpocess, I believe you can catch a macargo and have it in your team while you're walking. I think his special ability warms the egg and makes it hatch quicker

General Breeding info can also be found in that one thread I made in the General pokemon discussion forum, which includes the # of steps required for each pokemon to hatch.

that breeding guide is great! I didn't know half that stuff before i read it, why are usefull things like IVs and EVs never mentioned in guides that you buy? I have the official guides to fr and lg but it is just babyish, the official guide books don't even mention the base stats in the pokedex sections, hang on, do they even mention stats?

But I had my snorlax egg for 3 months now!
Just because you've had it for a long time doesn't mean it's going to hatch automatically. Eggs hatch depending on how many steps you take, not how long you've had them. Some eggs like Caterpie need only a small amount of steps to hatch, others (like Snorlax) need over 10,000. Start walking.

Oh I cheated bad on a Ruby game. I already finished it thank goodness, but I tried to get Mew, and I did. I got the bad egg. I messed with the egg and boy, my game crashed you wouldn't believe! My girl character (May) ended up in this weird Pokecenter, there was Brendan, and several different computers and other messed up stuff! Boy, I never got over that one! I got a Mew cleanly on Emerald though, but it won't let me trade it to Ruby/Sapphire for it to count.

No, BadEGG is the result of inputting wrong codes. Gameshark wouldn't risk putting harmful things into their games; they'd get a rather large lawsuit on them and probably be shut down :ermm:

It's a glitch. Glitches are unpredictable. There was obviously some sort of egg there that was left in the coding. 'M could have been called Bobby Joe Brown for all we know, it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. The people who produced pokemon would not dare put something like that in there. It would cause major uproar and possibly lead to them shutting down. Don't get too big for your boots son, especially not over something that was said over 2 weeks ago

I've had a bad egg before. I warmed it up and then you know how it sais "huh?" right before it's about to hatch, and then the screen blacks out before it shows the egg hatching... well, with the bad egg, it will freeze at the black out.
As said a million times, the glitch comes from the AR. It's code was that you select a pokemon to instantly apear in the PC when the game next starts. The pokemon (singlar and plural tense) you select will go to that PC as a bad egg, but by leaving the PC and turning it back on again will show the/one of the pokemon you selected with the AR. I did this cheat to get Milotec because I couldn't find a Feebas. I let one bad egg turn (not hatch, mind you) into Milotec, and I tried hatching one of the other bad eggs. If totaly skrewed my game over. I restarted my game and swore never to use AR or any cheat devise ever again. And now I have naturally cought 379/386. DAMN, I'm a nerd!
