Synopsis:
In a distant future where the extinction of pokemon had already passed, humanity stood once more at the pokemon stadiums. Tens upon thousands of attendants flooded to see the next big thing. Shows topping itself in viewers rating day-by-day. There seemed to be no stopping the new phenomenon known as the Pokemon Layer (yes, Layer, not Lair).
With newer and greater technological advances in the new century of Kanto, scientists have found methods of replicating pokemon from their fossil forms. The cath: they were no more living than the fossils themselves.
It was apparent that with their technology, they would have been able to create microenvironments that can essentially power a field from under a generator, essentially giving electrical power to anything sitting on top of that.
One man, Shiro Umezawa, took it upon himself to merge the two concepts. By creating robotic pokemon that can hook up to a person's mind (like a sort of radio control mechanism), he can easily use the microenvironment technology to power tiny pokemon on top of things. And thus, pokemon layer was born.
With some help from his assistant, Saber Tousaka, Shiro was also able to create a device known as the "pokeball", which allowed people to store their larger pokemon by the form of compression (recall that they ARE machines ;)), and thus allowed people to carry them around efficiently.
Here, pokemon layer caught on like wildfire in a forest, and swept across nation upon nation. Shiro's development team continued to push above and beyond expectations, and were able to create lifesize arenas (sadly, trainers, those who control the pokemon are called "trainers", cannot enter the arena due to the circumstances of the battlefields), and thus made sports stadiums pokemon battle stadiums.
Old traditions such as the indigo tournament went full swing, as the tourism based city now also gained momentum to be the layer capital of the world. *note that GYM LEADERS DO NOT EXIST, NOR AN ELITE 4. NONE OF THE CHARACTERS FROM POKEMON EXIST HERE FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.
As trainers, what would you do to get to the top, and be the best of the best?
NOTE: The control of the pokemon is through your MIND. Using a headset, you control your pokemon's every movement that way. :D

Introduction to Layer Battling
The battling in the Layer generally consists of two trainers, the arena (currently just a giant blank stage), and their pokemon. Trainers cannot enter the arena when its power is on due to a barrier on the arena (now called "Layer") produced at its circumference.
The start of the battle begin with each trainer throwing their pokeballs into the arena (you can make up random sayings for them to throw their pokeballs in and what not). Due to the vertical barrier of the Layer itself, the pokeball opens as soon as it's just over arena, and then bounces itself back to the pokemon using the electrostatic forces generated in that short period of time.
The pokemon, once inside the Layer, can move freely due to the person's control through their mind. A person thinks the pokemon should dodge left, then it will dodge left, etc. This does not account into the physical limitations of the pokemon, and thus are slightly different in controls with each pokemon (ut you only need to know the general idea of it anyway).
