ive been playing pokemon for years and you guys are talking about "shiny" pokemon. you probably think i am an idiot for knot knowing this but i have know idea how to get them. I have ruby, sapphire, red, blue, and gold. ive beat and played all of them. i just want to know more about shiny pokemon.

also i was wondering about the old man in the pokemon fan club in Slateport City. he is sitting on the couch and says" allow em to examine your pokemon". he always says ''its not good but not bad either''. how do you get him to say somethingh more positive?

1) Shiny pokemon are randomly encountered in grass, but are very rare. You can get a shiny version of just about any pokemon (I believe). There is no sure way to get one apart from the red gyrados in the Lake of Rage on Gold and Silver.

As for the second one, I don't know the answer, but I'm sure someone else does. Hope I helped

When you've maxed out a Pokemon's beauty, coolness, toughness, cuteness or smartness (by using Pokeblocks), talk to him with that Pokemon first in your party and he will give you a coloured scarf (depending on which stat) which will help you in contests.
