Since you have the gender of all members filled out and there to see whenever they post, I think it'd be a good idea to also include age. Age helps (for me at least) how to reply to comments. If they are young (10-13) I can generally hold my tongue and rephrase my comment. If they are older, I can determine if they are being completely stupid, and reply henceforth in the same manner. If the reply is stupid and they are 10-13, it is understandable, because they haven't matured, and aren't as intelligent as older members.

Not as smart as older members?
Are we Stereotyping a little...?

Until you find a 10 year old whose maturity level and intelligence surpasses my own (quite doubtful, unless they are a rare prodigy), then please don't get on my ass about stereotyping. I know plenty of ppl who know more than me in certain areas, but that by no means they are SMARTER than I am. Crimson Spider is prolly the most intelligent 14 year old I have ever met, and then again, I have never met him, just held a quick convo with him. I'm not saying younger ppl can't be smarter than me, but generally speaking, younger people are immature, ignorant, and not as intelligent as older people.
As I said, its not always true, just generally. I know I have my immature moments. But then of course, there are those who take my immaturity too seriously and spazz. Some of you "mature" people need to lighten up and learn to recognize when mine and other's stupidity is all in good fun or being serious.

You have a point. A good one too.
No doubt that you are much smarter than the average Pre-teen.
But, by any chance, do you see me as ignorant and immature? Cause guess what. Im 11.

You have got to be ******* me...
In any case, guess what, you are officially branded as smart

I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. The forum we used to have (I won't mention the evil "P" word) had prompted users for an age. All that needed to be done was just access the person's profile. And I don't see why anyone would be ashamed of their age.
Plus it's far more easier if everyone can see it rather than asking for the age.

Well, let me put it this way, I've met plenty of 13 year olds that act more mature than say 17 or 18 year olds. Some people aren't comfortable about revealing their age, and more specifically, their exact birthdate (there is no enter age feature). It's not necessarily something to be ashamed of, just more of a personal matter for some people. So that's not required field to enter. For those that chose to enter their birthdate, you can see that in the person's profile.
I don't believe you should deal with immature comments differently from a 13 year old and say a 18 year old. You should always reply (or not reply) to a "stupid comment" maturely. Because it doesn't matter what the age of the person is, if you're mature, you'll be your mature self. Immature people come in many different shapes and sizes (or I guess ages heh), so it shouldn't be a determining factor.
As for me, an age of a person I talk to online hasn't been much of a factor, unless I find out the person is around my age, in which then we could possibly talk about college or whatever. A 15 year old probably couldn't relate or share his/her strategy, that kind of thing. So it could be helpful in those kind of areas, but again, age is not required. I just find the gender to be essential, since we want to be referred as he/her, and not "it". I don't see the age being essential, you can talk to a person just fine knowing the person's age or not.
I agree with P.E
I personally don't feel that the age is needed. And I myself am embarrased to say that I'm probably one of the oldest if not "the" than one of the oldest people here on the entire forum.
And at my age, Liking pokemon or ... so-so liking it would be coniderd "stupid" in others "the lower aged people" eyes so I would probably get ethier laughed at or teased/made fun of and that itself is a larger embarassment.

Ok, to make it a little clearer...
On the most part, older people use more sarcasm/hidden jokes. If the person I am reading a post from is older (hence more than likely more mature), I can probably tell if they are joking or not. The younger kids, I can't tell if I should join the joke or correct them >.>
And of course it shouldn't be a required field. I'm just suggesting, because I know we don't live in a perfect world, and there will be mature 13 year olds and immature 17 year olds. I can be both, but my immaturity doens't reach a level of stupidity or annoyance.
And you can't really expect everyone to have totally mature posts. That would ruin the originality of poeple and make the forum boring =[
BTW, I hope that helped get my point across. Not trying to annoy, I'd just like to see the option for us to add our age.

There's an option to add your birthdate in your profile, so you can figure out a person's age with a little math. But as for age, I don't have that feature available.

Ryans right, you shouldn't treat people differently just because of their age, since age has nothing to do with maturity. Shroom for example, thought i was about 19, until i told her myself that i'm only 14 (A lot of people make that kind of mistake), but, even so, they don't treat me any differently afterwards, which is great. Some people hate revealing their age because they think people will treat them differently. Either way KS, if you were talking to say, a 20 year old, and you used innapropriate language, whats to stop a 10 year old from looking in the thread, and reading your post? lol

Yeah, at first I really thought there was nothing wrong with it, but what you said Ryan makes perfect sense. I already know of some people who are 22 and 23 and really don't act their age whatsoever. And a second point I had missed was people taking age too literally. At a forum, age shouldn't be a rank or a senority, but if it is displayed, it could be taken that way by some people.
Still, even a 12 and a 22 year old can have very different and very interesting things to say. Something like age shouldn't seperate that quality.

Maybe its just age that matters at Tvsian...
I wasn't trying to discriminate or give superiority to anyone.
And, btw, I think you all know I have a bad mouth...or whatever you call it. All the "big" words are ***** (I think all words should be changed to "ish" that way we can't count the stars and figure it out anyway)
That way, "you little *****" becomes "you little ish"
etc etc etc

I knew for a long time that DA and CS were 14 each. Ask me if I care and you will get a very big NO. I still think CS is the best to go to for Moveses help and DA is one of the best Programmers/Imagers I have ever met.
Age would only mater to me if I found a Girl here that's from Brooklyn. Then I'd want to know her age and so on just to figure out if I wanted to meet her. Age is only a factor for Relationships, in my opinion.
Its just bad that DA has so little time for Banner editing and CS has so little time for Movesets......
