We’re going to fight for our rights to battle on Saturday, May 15th, 2004 at the first Pokémon Center NY battle tournament! Come on down between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and battle with other Pokémon fans – and win a chance to see your battle on our giant screen TV’s!
It’s not a free-for-all, though. There are certain rules and restrictions that apply (see below), but once you do get battling, the action will be intense and non-stop!
Also, each participant in the battle tournament will receive a free prize! May 15th will be the day to show the world what you’ve got – come on down with your favorite characters and duke it out for the top spot!

Pokémon Colosseum Tournament OFFICIAL RULES
These are the official rules as made by the PCNY staff as to best accommodate the competitors. Any questions concerning these rules can be addressed to the Attractions staff at the Pokémon Center.
— ENTRY —
The event will take place on the 2nd floor of the Pokémon Center NY from 12PM to 4PM on the day of Saturday, May 15, 2004.
Entry will be open to participants of any age. Each group's size will be limited to 16 participants and a new group will begin every 15 minutes (:00, :15, :30, and :45 minutes after each hour). The last group will begin no later than 4:00PM. Entry is at no cost and will be granted to the first 16 players to arrive promptly at the start of the battle time. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE END OF THE EVENT TO FIND THERE ARE NO POSITIONS OPEN FOR ENTRY.
Players may arrive early on the day of the event to register for later groups, however, any player who fails to appear at the start of the group's scheduled time will forfeit their entry position.
Registration will not take place prior to the day of the event.
— BATTLES —
Players must bring their own Gameboy Advance or Gameboy Advance SP and either Pokémon Ruby or Pokémon Sapphire game to participate.
Players should be sure to have new batteries or a full charge in their Gameboy. No player will be allowed to delay on account of dead batteries. Link cables will be supplied by the PCNY staff.
The battles will be based on the 2-vs-2 style commonly seen on Pokémon Colosseum.
Players may use up to 4 Pokémon, each up to level 100.
Players may use less Pokémon or lower level Pokémon but will be at a disadvantage.
Players may not use two of the same Pokémon.
Pokémon may use hold items but no two of the same item.
Players may use only one (or none) of the following Pokémon on their team:
Jirachi
Rayquaza
Kyogre
Groudon
Ho-oh
Players may use only Pokémon caught (or snagged) in either Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, or Pokémon Colosseum from the North American market. No Pokémon caught in Japanese games may be used.
Players must be ready to begin at their group's scheduled start time. This includes the readiness of the game itself. Players' games must be ready with 4 pokémon in the party and ready to battle. No player will be allowed to delay due to battling in the Pokémon League or other such circumstances.
Each group will battle in a tournament style elimination matches until there remains a single winner. (16 > 8 > 4 > 2 > Champion)
Any player who uses a double K.O. move which ends the battle (such as Perish Song, Self-destruct, or Explosion) will be declared the loser of that battle.
When a player loses their first battle they are out of the competition and will be awarded a prize at that time.
— PRIZES —
All participants shall be awarded a prize regardless of their battle's outcome.
The champion of each group will be awarded an official PCNY championship certificate in addition to the normal prize.
Prizes are not eligible for exchange or return.
IMPORTANT - No player may participate using a game that has been modified using a cheating device such as Gameshark® or Action Replay®. These include any and all cheat codes which may have affected gameplay or individual Pokémon, even if those Pokémon have been acquired through trading.
If you have any questions on your game's condition, please ask the PCNY staff prior to the start of the tournament.
