Ok so I just started a new Ruby game...

...and I'm at Petalburg Forest. What would be a good team to start building as of now?

Right now I have a Marshtomp (lvl. 16), Ralts (lvl. 12) and Shroomish (lvl. 5, just caught)

I'm trying to catch a Slakoth right now. Just wondering if this is a good team or not. I might add a Manectric a little later in the game

I remember Breloom being very good to me, and I need both a Grass and Fighting type, so all the better. I don't have much experience with the water starter, as I've always chosen Torchic. Ralts is an absolute must. Its Slakoth I'm not sure about. I mean, yeah I guess his huge attack power later when he evolves is a nice addition, but I don't think its really necessary...

My sixth pokemon will probably be Zangoose...he's too cool to resist

Zangoose is useless if you will have Breloom.Slaking just loofs around.I saw a skill swaper in BF once but it can't learn it strange.

By the time im in Mauvile I usualy have an Aron , Kadabra , and sometimes a Gravler on my team , and having a Vigoroth dosnt hurt either.

Wow, pretty nice starters for now. I don't know if you should try to catch a Slakoth, cause all it does is loaf around every 2 turnes. And when it fully evolves, it'll do the same.

Thnx but getting these so early in the game means you have to spend a long time in the granite cave everytime I get to that part I usualy spend 3-4 hours training my pokemon , but it pays of cuz I beat Watson in about five turns.:biggrin:

not a bad team.................not bad at all............................maybe evolve shromish asap, cause mach punch (which it learns after it evolves) will come in handy aganist magnaton and magnamite...hope this helped!:surp:

I always suggest Ralts or kilia in a team and Breloom is pretty useful I wished they had a pokemon like nidoran in Ruby though in RBY I used to get a nidoking so early in the game witch let me get through it so quick

You shouldn't have caught an electrike, for 5 out of 8 percent, they are useless...you should get yourself a volbeat or illuminise....

Get slaking his base stats are the best I have ever seen (all around) His attack and hp are so high loafing around is not a problem and you can always breed skill swap into him (I believe)

Illumise is trash, Volbeat knows some good moves, but i wouldn't recommend any of them. I'd say you get a trapinch or absol later in your game. Try shedinja.. it's a unique pokemon if you know how to use it, give it focus band. Nice team, by the way, and don't get slakoth. Normals don't amount to much use, except Castform.
