Yes, it's not out yet, but in days, it'll be out. Lots of people here likes the Harry Potter movies, but I don't really think they're anything compared to other massive movies. Any comments? And when the movie comes out, we could have more talk bout it.

Well, as I think everyone noticed, the 2nd movie was better than the 1st. Also, the 3rd book was way better than the previous 2, so I expect it'll be a good movie. :twisted:

Five days! Only five more days! After almost a year of knowing this date, it's FINALLY only five days away! People think I'm a freak because I keep a countdown on my hand at school (I know I am. I always have been, always will be), but I don't care, I'm way too excited! I made my mom go and get me advanced tickets for opening day^^
It kinda bugs me that they're not wearing their uniforms (They are, but only for some scenes) for the whole time. And Lupin's moustache. That's just... no... Sirius doesn't look right, either. Oh well, at least the dementors look right... XD

Haha, I'm going to see the film today. :tongue:

I really didn't like the other two though, and even if this one has a different director... It's so condensed, it messes up the plot IMO.

Meh... I'll spoil it for you lot when I get back from the cinema. :wink:

^ Too lazy to post after getting back from the cinema.

Meh... It wasn't anything special. X_x; Better than the other two, although shorter and yeah, a LOT more condensed. Some nice CGI, I guess. Definitely 'darker' than the others, just wish it'd been longer. A LOT longer.

The one thing I really had a problem with was Lupin's werewolf form -- Lupin looked like enough of a freak normally, but transformed... Um, it was basically a lanky man with a funny-shaped head as the werewolf. So that kinda sucked.

What was the point of posting that.........

Trainer That sucks that it wasen't very long. I hate short movies.
Yeah, the director did that on purpose, he said it was because kids have short attention spans I think.

Anyway, I still am looking forward to seeing it this weekend, if I can get a ticket that is. XD I'm glad they chose a new director for the 4th one though, his reasoning for making it shorter wasn't good enough imo.

Oh my god...that movie was like reliving the time I spent in Hell over and over again. The whole thing sucked. And good riddance for the director, that *******, I'm glad they're getting a new one. They completely messed up one of the best books in the series so far. The first two movies were actually better. And who the hell decided that only elementary school kids with short attention spans would go to see the movie? I don't even think they should be reading Harry Potter, because of it's complexity and *oddly* maturity. God I hate how the entertainment industry's been packed so full of ****** garbage.

I just saw it on Friday and omg... I feel exactly the same way about the werewolf. WTH was it supposed to be? Honestly, that's not how I imagined it at all. -_-; But I thought the actor that played Sirius was good for the part. I also agree that it was way too condensed. That was really ridiculous. =/ I was disappointed mainly with the lack of Quidditch in the movie. I mean, that played a much bigger part in book 3 than how it was portrayed. Gah, oh well. ._.;

Yeah the werewolf was made terribly. Also with the quidditch playing their was not enough in the book. There is like 4 great and long matches.

Meh, the werewolf alone amused me more than the rest of the movie. o.O; It was just, like, uber sucky. And yeah, I think that Sirius and Lupin fitted their parts quite well, even if Lupin gave me the creeps... The worst thing about the whole movie was how condensed it was, but again, that's the same with the other two, and they couldn't have made it too long anyway, considering the audience they were aiming at. x_x The lack of quidditch didn't bother me too much though, seeing as I didn't enjoy the quidditch scenes in the first and second movies much anyway.

In general the movie didn't stick all too closely to the guidelines laid out by the novel, but I don't really think that made it any worse... I mean, it'd be pretty boring if (like me) you'd read the PoA roughly 20 times and then basically saw it acted out, word for word, on screen. ._.; Just you people like to complain. >:F@

silverfrost
06-07-2004, 07:54 PM
Haha, that's true. This is all probably just for the sake of complaining. >:F But meh, I'm not sure of whether or not I was fond of the actor playing Lupin. While reading the book I pictured him as being mysterious and eccentric like he was... yet also um, "rugged," (for lack of a better term) which he wasn't. lol, And yeah, he was more creepy than anything. 'Twas weird. =\

Lmao @ Nohman's post. XD

This will contain some Spoilers so if you've not seen the movie... Blah

Ok, time for the famouse movie cridic known as Shroom. =P

My rating: 2.5/10 Hey, it could've been worse. XD

Things wrong with it:

1. In the VERY FIRST SCENE when he was doing his homework under the covers, he did magic! Ok, any HP fan would know that students aren't allowed to do magic outside of school...

2. The Jamacan head on the Nght Buss... omg. Yeah, it was funny but... That was so damned weird. Nothing like that was in the book and it just didn't go along with the whole Harry Potter theme.

3. The clothes they wore.. urgh. Where's their unifroms? =/ And the uniforms they did wear were messed up, big time. O_o;;

4. This bugged me the most. The grounds and castle were so... different. >_< And omg, they sucked! It was just whacked up.

5. The wearwolf... 'nuff said.

6. This whole time thing. I mean, Hermione throwing the things (Pumpkin seeds?) threw the wndows and then howling like a wearwolf... urm... that never happened. X_x;;

7. Not NEARLY enough Quidditch. What the crap is up with that? This was the year they won the damned Quiddich Cup! It should have shown that... >_<

8. Harry got his Firebolt at the END of the movie? What the goat...? O_O;;

9. Much more but I don't feel like typing anymore. =P
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ahem, yeah. If I was J.K. Rowling, I would be seriously offendd and pissed. I know she has to aprove the movies and all but if I was her, I would take much offence to the way they did this movie. It was as if they said, "Ok, Jo, your story wasn't good enough so we're gonna change it for the movie."
I mean, you know?
I've waited since like September - October to see this movie and I'm VERY dissapointed. >_< My sister called me yesterday and was like...
Sister: "You wanna go see the Harry Potter movie again?"
Me: "It sucked, why would you want to go through that agan? O_O"
Sister: "Because I think they played a joke on us and showed us the wrong movie."
lol, so yeah, if this was the first HP movie you've seen, don't judge the whole world of Harry Potter by it because it's nothing like that. X_x;;
Things wrong with it:
1. In the VERY FIRST SCENE when he was doing his homework under the covers, he did magic! Ok, any HP fan would know that students aren't allowed to do magic outside of school... It mentioned later on that he wasn't allowed to when he was running away, and he pointed his wand at Vernon, and who said that was homework?
2. The Jamacan head on the Nght Buss... omg. Yeah, it was funny but... That was so damned weird. Nothing like that was in the book and it just didn't go along with the whole Harry Potter theme. Well, like Dry Ice said, you don't want to have EXACTLY the same thing because that would make it boring.
3. The clothes they wore.. urgh. Where's their unifroms? =/ And the uniforms they did wear were messed up, big time. O_o;; They wore their uniforms when they were in the classes, and didn't when they were just hanging around outside or going to Hogsmeade, etc.
4. This bugged me the most. The grounds and castle were so... different. >_< And omg, they sucked! It was just whacked up. I thought they were cooler, but yeah, they should have made the set look the same as before.
5. The wearwolf... 'nuff said. That's true.
6. This whole time thing. I mean, Hermione throwing the things (Pumpkin seeds?) threw the wndows and then howling like a wearwolf... urm... that never happened. X_x;; Actually, they both did. If you had paid attention maybe, you would have seen the interruption when Hagrid and the three were talking, the glass holding the floo powder broke, and then Harry said ow and felt his head. And when Hermoine howled, once again if you paid attention, you would have heard it. That's what made Lupin in werewolf form run off into the forest instead of killing Harry when he distracted Lupin in werewolf form from Sirius Black.
7. Not NEARLY enough Quidditch. What the crap is up with that? This was the year they won the damned Quiddich Cup! It should have shown that... >_< That's true, too, but they could have just shown them winning the quidditch cup, because the had too many other things going on so they couldn't have another big long quidditch scene. That's the difference between a book and a movie, for a book, you have no limit of length, for movies you do.
8. Harry got his Firebolt at the END of the movie? What the goat...? O_O;; Oh well, we'll get to see it's performance in the next movie.
lmao @ the werewolf XD That was the greatest XD (greatest meaning the worst XD)
Yeah, I saw it. =P It was ok, considering I didnt read the book or anything XD
Probably the best part(IMO, and not being a HP fan) was when the tree killed the bird. ^_^ Nothing but a 5 second scene, twice, but I still laughed my ass off XD (I dont know why, lol, I was in denial about this being a good movie after hearing Shroom and SF in the chat =P)
My mom loved it, but meh, shes...slow. =\
Lightning, I think she ment in the book the rocks and howling didnt happen. =\ But meh, I didnt read them, so how would I know. =P
I saw that the day it came out! The theater was so packed I had to sit in the very front!
What I got confused about in the movie was,
1: Why the **** did Harry's godfather (in the wolf form, a.k.a. Serius Black) look at him like he was gonna eat him?
2: Why was Serius Black in jail when he didn't do anything wrong?
3: Why the ******* **** did Harry get the FireBall (not FireBolt) at the end of the movie? Why not after the Whomping Willow destroyed his Nimbus 2000?
1) Sirius Black was not the werewolf, he was the black dog. The werewolf was Lupin, and when he was a werewolf he couldn't remember anything he did as a human.
2) Because everyone thought he was guilty when he wasn't.
3) First of all, it IS the Firebolt, not the Fireball. Second of all, no one knows that.
No, they'd be utterly pointless and insanely long. :s Not enough profit for the work those producing, directing and starring in the film would have to put into it.
1. In the VERY FIRST SCENE when he was doing his homework under the covers, he did magic! Ok, any HP fan would know that students aren't allowed to do magic outside of school... It mentioned later on that he wasn't allowed to when he was running away, and he pointed his wand at Vernon, and who said that was homework?
Yeah, I know it mentioned it but.. You don't get what I'm saying. *Sigh* Ok, what he did to Marge was an accident but he thought he was in deep trouble for doing it, right? Ok, well, he didn't seem too bothered when he was doing magic up in his room on purpos... =/
And no one said it was homework but I think it's safe to assume it was because in the books, he had to do his homework that way, in secret. Anyway, weather it was homework or not is irrelivant.
2. The Jamacan head on the Nght Buss... omg. Yeah, it was funny but... That was so damned weird. Nothing like that was in the book and it just didn't go along with the whole Harry Potter theme. Well, like Dry Ice said, you don't want to have EXACTLY the same thing because that would make it boring.
I don't think it'd be boring. I agree with VT, it'd be awesome if the books would come to life just the way they are.
I mean, I can understand leaving some irrelivant things out but to totatly change it is just... stupid.
3. The clothes they wore.. urgh. Where's their unifroms? =/ And the uniforms they did wear were messed up, big time. O_o;; They wore their uniforms when they were in the classes, and didn't when they were just hanging around outside or going to Hogsmeade, etc.
Ok, I guess it's fine if they didn't wear them all the time but the main thing was the uniforms they did wear... You've got to admit that they sucked. The ones in the last two movies were perfect, IMO.
4. This bugged me the most. The grounds and castle were so... different. >_< And omg, they sucked! It was just whacked up. I thought they were cooler, but yeah, they should have made the set look the same as before.
Meh I didn't like the new ones... Just looked too different and not at all how I imagined it in the books. =/
5. The wearwolf... 'nuff said. That's true.
w00t! We agree on one thing. XD
6. This whole time thing. I mean, Hermione throwing the things (Pumpkin seeds?) threw the wndows and then howling like a wearwolf... urm... that never happened. X_x;; Actually, they both did. If you had paid attention maybe, you would have seen the interruption when Hagrid and the three were talking, the glass holding the floo powder broke, and then Harry said ow and felt his head. And when Hermoine howled, once again if you paid attention, you would have heard it. That's what made Lupin in werewolf form run off into the forest instead of killing Harry when he distracted Lupin in werewolf form from Sirius Black.
Yeah, I meant in the books. -_-
7. Not NEARLY enough Quidditch. What the crap is up with that? This was the year they won the damned Quiddich Cup! It should have shown that... >_< That's true, too, but they could have just shown them winning the quidditch cup, because the had too many other things going on so they couldn't have another big long quidditch scene. That's the difference between a book and a movie, for a book, you have no limit of length, for movies you do.
Well, actually, they DID have enough time. The first two movies were like 30 mins ore more longer than this one, they could've used some of that time to squeeze in some Quidditch scenes. Also, if they wanted to make it that short, they could've cut some of the extra scenes they put in that didn't even happen in the books. -_- (Example: Hermione throwing the pumpkin seeds.)
8. Harry got his Firebolt at the END of the movie? What the goat...? O_O;; Oh well, we'll get to see it's performance in the next movie.
*Sigh* I guess... =/
Is it true they've got a new directer for the next movie or is it just a rumor? I hope it's true. =P
