It is very rare. Be patient, and you may be lucky. In about 180 hours of playing Sapphire, it still hasn't showed up. You should check everyday with the old man in Pacifidlog Town and see if it's there. Mirage Island gets assigned a random number, and if you're lucky, and have a Pokemon with the same number as Mirage Island, it will show up!

I do.And, now I'll tell you.When you win the lottery you also open mirage island.The thing people don't know is that the myseterey berrie is only really good for certain pokemon.I'll give you a hint it's not rare pokemon it's a water type pokemon.

Yes the lottery is the only way to start your way to mirage island you then go to pacificlog thingy and ask the old man.You must use a water pokemon as your first pokemon that knows surf.The only reason for this is because pokemon were not meant to use the rare berrie on mirage island till after it was made.

That is total nonsense. The lottery is NOT the only way to got the Island to show up. It just shows up when the random number generated matches yours.
