Is anyone here homeschooled? If you're not, do you want to be homeschooled?

I'm homeschooled, and I love it.

I'm not homeschooled, I don't think I'd want to be either. I love going to school, going from class to class, eating in the canteen and the sense of school pride.

I'd never want to be homeschooled. It severely affects your social skills, plus public school is better IMO.

No, Homeschooled=Never. You don't learn as much because their are to many distractions, and plus you won't make friends.

I'm not currently homeschooled, but I wish that I could be homeschooled.

Why? You don't make any friends.

I don't like mostly anyone at my school, and at least at home, there isn't any popularity rank, making my the best student at everything...

You do have a point, what grade are you in? I am in 7th and the popularity rank no longer matters for me. Last year it did though and that was the only time I wanted to be homeschooled!

Yes, but what's the good in knowing that you're the best? I like school because it gives me goals, and that if I work harder I beat another person until I'm the best.

I'm in 9th... I don't care about my rank, since I am a window...

Because, I don't like actually competing with other people that much...

I think I have too much self-confidence.

School and homeschool technically you learn the same thing...but Public or Private School's have more to offer.

I overall like public better. I mean there are times when homeschool would be better for just a certain period, because of a teacher or a subject I would do better on alone or one on one. But I like public better.

Totally agreed, except I could do with my parents replacing the teachers. Kidding...

Public schooling is a rewarding experience. Whether or not the kids beat you up and the teachers suck ass, if you go through your life without public schooling you haven't really experienced much.

And also taking a test or quiz and finding out you did the best in the class feels like you won a medal. (Sometimes you do)

I was in public school for the first six years of my school life. (K5 through 5th) I've just started homeschooling last year.

Actually, the homeschool I go to, your parents aren't the teachers. You just go to the subject you want to do, read what the day's lesson is, and occasionally you have a test of something like that. There are online teachers, but from the looks of it, they're never on... But, you still learn everything you would in public school; the only difference is the fact that you're reading the lesson instead of listening to the teacher say it.

Why? Did you move or did your parents just not want you to?

Well, when I was promoted up to middle school, the only school that we knew of available was a pretty bad one, so my dad decided to to enroll me into homeschool. I wasn't really losing anything as far as friends go because one of my best friends moved away and the other two were backstabbers, so they weren't really considered friends.

Homeschool may be expensive, but it's worth it. (to me)

Well if you like it I will totally stay out of your way. (I normally would critisize)

Oh man that would be awsome then I could learn new stuff when I was ready. Plus you only have one teacher and if they piss you off shoot his head.

No, I'm not homeschooled.

Sometimes I wish I was, when the curricular at school is driving me insane. But, other times, it's nice... because you get to talk to your friends. :]

The real reason I'm home-schooled has to do with stress, and overbearing boredom in certain subjects.

Now I can work mainly with math, english, and german. Math FTW.

Plus, in the time I save from homework, I have more time to hang out with friends.

yeah... if I'm bored, I'm useless. xD

Homeschooled=luff because I can get on the internet any time of the day. Yes for me, but I am taking Math 110 at UNC. AP History and Chemistry at home too, plus I have to read some big honking classic book every week. Smarty me.

I have all my dad's old collage text books. :D

i'm homeschooled and by looking at this thread there are quite a few misconceptions about it.

i voted homeschooled but don't want to be for a few reasons.

1. my dad is my "teacher" but he's so lazty that in reality i am the teacher.
2. i'm really tired of my dad. want to go to college or become an army ranger because i want to get away from my dad.
3. the dumbest reason.......um........uh.......girls. i belong to this group so we meet at a park so i have a bunch of friends but only know ONE hot girl. so yeah........ public schools are crawling with them.

I'm in college, which homeschooling probably won't prepare you for.

I liked high school enough, anyway. It was an interesting experience.

No Way! Although it is possible for a home-schooled child to be normal, some turn out completely introverted and strange. The real problem happens when they go into the real world or college. Most have been so darn nurtured and restrained, when they're let loose, they over-indulge and binge.Plus, most homeschooled kids I've met have NO people skills.

OMG ROFL I'm the oldest of ten, (yes, by the same parents, any remarks I'll hunt you down, and and put foot to a$$) we all are homeschooled, me and my brother are currently enrolled Mhcc but we are transferring to Ohio state, anyway I don't nor any of my bro/sis's seem to suffer from the pressumed side affects stated above.

I just finished my first year with a 3.75 GPA so yea I think I was prepared for college, anyway it seems everybody has something to say about homeschool, my question now is: Exactly how many of you are homeschooled? And if not, how do know what it is like, or how well it prepares you? BTW I have no shortage of friends so about that social angle.....

...and while that's true, love, many don't turn out as good as yourself. I've spent a good deal of my life around homeschooled people, and they do nothing but rave about it. I personally couldn't care. It's either vest myself in a subpar education by my parents or by the state. Would I let my children be homeschooled? No. Not all. I have seen some very socially retarded products of homeschooling, and while this may not be the case in everyone, I would not want to work with such a system. I think it's beneficial to receive the school experience, the ostracism, the nagging, the grades, the cheating, as it shapes your character and lets you develop what you are or what you want to be in relation to those around you. That, and well, the whole creationism bit that some are teaching at home, which I won't get into...
