Ryan already explained it.
I need to find a way for my DS to hook up to the Internet, I still haven't gotten that to work. Meanwhile, hopefully I don't find myself needing this feature to begin with...

Oh! The dude(his name is Ryan??), just said that.
I'm not sure how it works, but a distress call is when if you faint in a dungeon, instead of losing all your money(I mean Poké) and items, you can choose to send out a distress call, by giving someone the distress call password(I think) so they can come to your dungeon to save you. When they do, you won't lose your Poké or your items.

I'm wondering how to do that myself...-_-;

You don't need to connect to the internet though, it uses a password feature, so you just give people that (Mystery Dungeon doesn't use the Nintendo Wi-Fi internet feature). Though it does have the feature of wireless multiplayer enabled.

Okay, now I am SERIOUSLY confused, sir.
Okay, how will the game know to take you out of the dungeon, and how will your rescuer's game know which dungeon to go to?
Now that I think about it, maybe all games has a built-in password for every dungeon, so when your rescuer, like, rescues you, he gets the password, and gives it to you.
But, even with that explanation, there are still some things I don't get. Like how your rescuers game knows which sprites to display as your pokemon.

Not only is that off-topic, but you revived a 3 month old thread. It's lock time.
