I'm not sure if this belongs here or the General Discussion so if it's in the wrong place, just move it. Anyway, I was thinking: how about a Pokemon movie that takes place in real life, like say NYC? Do you think it would work out well and why/why not? Here's what I'd personally do with it.

The first scene starts off with a 17-year-old guy playing football with his high school team. Suddenly, he sees something in the sky. No one else is paying attention. Later on when he gets home, it's on the news. He finds a Pokemon from his Blue/Red version...a Charmander. It hatched from its egg. He turns around and sees on the balcony a mysterious girl(that's Latias). He eventually finds out that his friends got Bulbasaur and Squirtle and that Latias tells them an evil Pokemon is trying to take over the Earth starting with NYC(where movie takes place). They have to unite to battle against the evil Pokemon along with Latias. Whoever else has a Pokemon gameboy game also has a Pokemon. In other words, their starter Pokemon would come to life by the great power of Latias. I'd see it as a mature Pokemon movie and not childish at all. I'd maybe add Pokemon that are controlled by the evil Pokemon to assign duties of destroying the city.

Do you think this would be a good movie? You can add your own plot as well. Any thoughts are appreciated. I want to be a film director and maybe a screenwriter so maybe I can use this storyline to make a script. Who knows.

it would be a good idea, they'd make the people look like ash and the gang and computer generate the pokemon, but the problem is, how would they get people that look like ash, brock, may and the little nerd? but as u said it could be just random people that go on the adventure, but i think it would be a great idea to make a real life pokemon movie.

well. i allready thought of this...
but making would be too expensive...
it shuld use much tehnology...
and that's a lot of money... animation and 3D models...
and the idea is VERY great!!!...

Hmm, yeah. With all the CGI of every Pokemon, it would seem a lot. However, if the director or any of the other people that works on the movie donate some of their own money to make the budget work, it could happen. I'm kind of referring to an example that James Cameron did for the Titanic. They used their whole budget so in order to finish it, James donated his own money.

I'd love to make the movie. Even if it doesn't come out, we can always dream.

The style of how the pokemon look in the real world would have to look diffrent meaning they could turn out ugly.Anyway in the realworld battling with pokemon would count as animal abuse!JK. Anyway I don't think it could turn out to well.

This is a pretty good idea... but do you mean with real actors and stuff playing ash (or whoever), or do you mean the cartoon but set in NY?

Eh, I wouldn't recommend it. I still have hideous thoughts about the day they made Super Mario Brothers a movie... and totally screwed up everything they could. It was a disaster...

I'm not sure how much better Pokemon would look in a realistic form as opposed to their cartoonish look. You would be seeing a lot more detail in there...

Worth1000 actually had two contests based on this:

Pokemon Photoshop Contest 1 (http://www.worth1000.com/cache/gallery/contestcache.asp?contest_id=4767&display=photoshop)
Pokemon Photoshop Contest 2 (http://www.worth1000.com/cache/gallery/contestcache.asp?contest_id=6608&display=photoshop)

Don't mind me saying, but most of those are kind of ugly. However, in my opinion, most of those are not really that close to the cartoon version anyway. If it was done by a professional film company, I'm convinced they would look way better and much closer than that, but still, that's as close as its getting.

(Thoughts: That Pikachu is awfully ugly... >.<)

Yeah, It's a great thought but it would never work. The pokemon COULD turn out ugly and that might unpopularize the pokemon.

I mean regular teenagers(no one from the cartoon series) who live in NYC. If it was Ash or any of the cartoon characters for that matter, people may compare it to the series and see it as kiddish when it's not suppose to be.

Those DO look ugly. The only one I really like that looks real is Cubone. Ehh...

I thought the movie was funny. Maybe not the best it could have been, but good for a laugh.

I think id be a terrible idea. Sorry to say but it wouldnt be that good. They did say that if they did make a live action Roblin williams ( The guy in Jumangi I think its his name ) will be the first, last and only actor for perfessor oak.
