If they both had the same EV'snd IV's Pikachu with light ball would have slightly higher special attack

What does lightball even do, and why not just evovle Pikachu, so you have a Raichu with light ball.

Ridley

Because the Light Ball doesn't work on Raichu.

Oh really, I see. I've never really looked much into Light Ball.

light ball doubles the sp. atk of pikachu and only pikachu

Kind of like deep sea tooth and deep sea scale for clampearl. Man, your lucky if you got a lightball, I've never gotten one, but I'm happy with my Lucky Egg I guess:happy: .

only in emerald? or in FR/LG too?

mistdragon
11-20-2006, 04:02 AM
I think only Emerald has. The reason is that Pichu with Volt Tackle only appears in Emerald.

Anyway, I thought Light Ball doubles Raichu's Special Attack too??? Marowak with Thick Club also has double Attack!

Just to answer, pikachu w. lightball is stronger.

Hmm...I agree with Invisible. Pikachu could be stronger. But I'm not too sure. Maybe their evenly matched?

Where can I get the Light Ball?

no way raichu has better defences and attack than pikachu. Pikachu has a potential (both max EV's and IV's+Pikachu has llight ball) of 416 special attack, but Raichu only has 306 (max) but with better other stats.Take your pick

That's the problem, pikachu will have massive sp attack, but all of it's other stats won't be too good compared to raichu and other pokes he will be battling against. So unless pikachu always gets a one hit KO, he is doomed.

I agree with that. Raichu is more powerful all around since he is more advanced, with lightball, pikachu only has one extremely good stat, and the rest are all the same.

If you're going with a moveset, Pikachu would be stronger if Raichu had the same moves. The Light Ball is the key.

no pikachu has pretty good speed for NU (if you are playing netballte) in-game,hes still ok with speed EV's. Either way, they both suck

I got to tell you guys something, I don't know how to put it like this, Light Ball has no effect on Raichu.

.:VS:.
11-25-2006, 06:51 PM
This thread is kinda pointless, especially since the creator left.
I think Raichu would be stronger, but if you are a Pikamaniac, Pikachu isn't that bad (in NU).

why dont you breed the pikachu with the light ball an then you have a pichu that knows volt tackel and then evolve the pichu in to pikachu

Jimmie's got a pretty good point there, guys.

Then you'll have a supercharged (no pun intended) Raichu.

mistdragon

Yeah. A Raichu with Volt Tackle should even out. A Pikachu with one would hurt itself much more than a Raichu using Volt Tackle.

Too bad Raichu has no affect holding a Light Ball.

Dragon_Seeker
12-01-2006, 05:56 AM
They're both gimmicks. Personally, I'd go with Raichu because he actually has a chance of outspeeding something before he dies a horrible, horrible death. That, and he can Focus Punch half-decently. Admittedly, in D/P they're going to acquire Scheme but I'd still go with Raichu because of the speed advantage.

If Pikachu could use Surf and Volt Tackle on the same set I'd say differently but Pikachu doesn't OHKO anything with Thunderbolt whereas pokemons have absolutely no problem OHKOing him. And without Surf he's just retarded.

I'd say raichu because it has stronger power and stats. i don't really know how strong a pikachu with a light ball is.

A pikachu with a light ball is better because raichu has less moves then a pikachu.

For the hunderth time. RAICHU HAS NO AFFECT WITH THE LIGHT BALL!!!

death_metal_lawn_gnome

well, according to the pokedex in the emerald guide, raichu has higher over all stats, if the light ball only improves certain things in pikachu raichu will still be the stronger one in the end right?, mabey im wrong

I need to get this through to everybody, for battles:\

PIKACHU SUCKS!

Go with Raichu, only 10 les SpAtk than Pika with Light Ball and better everywhere else.

Double?

Erm anyway, yes Pikachu is kinda crapped in battles. They don't last. Even a well-trained Pidgeot can kill that little critter.

DO. NOT. DOUBLE. POST. AND. SPAMMMMMMMMMM!!! No flaming Pikachu.

It depends on the situation, now that I think about it. If both are at level 70 and Raichu was evolved at level 5, Pikachu would have the advantage. But that changes with the moveset...

Well, if it was low level, below 70, the battle would not be fair as Pikachu would have more Sp.Atk than Raichu anytime. However, if they were both in their 100s, the Raichu with better stats will definitly win.

...Which probably doesn't even have over 100 in Defense, heh.

Light Ball Pikachu > Raichu, IMO. It's a risky, hit-and-run Poke. And c'mon, what would Pokemon be without it's obnoxiously yellow Fanboy?

Lol. After using Volt Tackle, Pikachu probably drops its HP to the yellow zone. -_-

Lets compare MAX Sp EV's for both Pikachu and Raichu.

Pikachu: 218
Raichu: 306

now Pikachu with a lightball, Raichu Normal MAX EV's

Pikachu: 436
Raichu: 306

Make Raichu hold a magnet (1.1 x's or 1.2 x's in D/P)

Pikachu: 436
Raichu: 337-367

it is a major difference, but both of it's defensive stats are ATROCIOUS! Absolutely horrid!

Raichu's stats are actually decent, but if you want a great electric pokemon, go old school Jolteon. Best Electric Pokemon IMO

Pikachu with Light Ball is only better at Raichu if you compared its Special Attack

I always thought light ball worked on both, but that shows how much I know.

I also thought you could only get Light ball in Emerald, but as you can see I'm not perfect

Well Raichu lasts longer I think, but it's still not really strong.
It gains 10 basic points of speed. So that isn't much either.
So I think I'll stay with Pikachu.

(By the way, I play game, not SB)
