I've only just got started back into pokemon games although I sold most of my older versions (gold, blue etc.)

Is it possible to trade from gold (using gameboy colour) to emerald (on advanced SP)?

Nope, they are different systems and they cannot be connected.

Yeah, unfortunetly you can't. The older Gameboy and Gameboy Color games are not compaitble with the Gameboy Advance games.
