View Full Version : "Lol" is a lie!

Hypocrisy is Fun

Guys, I'm tired of living this lie. I never really, "laugh out loud."

We need to start telling the truth in our internet phrases.

From now on, I'm only using ltmq. Thanks Demetri Martin.

Laugh to myself quietly, because there is very few occasions in which I actually laugh, and its loud.

Anyone else want to join me in stopping the lies?

Well, I don't know. I guess it depends on how the user wants to interpret "lol". Honestly, I type lol whenever someone says something that's either stupid or that made me smile. Whenever I really do laugh, it's more of "lmao"

*feels retarded for replying xD*

I usually do laugh out loud when I see something funny on the internets, and that action often makes others confused irl. Therefore, when I do 'lol', 'lmao', 'rofl' or sometimes even 'rotflmao', it is 100% genuine.

I barely ever use lol, and its true, if I see somthing funny, it usually only makes me smile or slightly snicker. I don't crack up laughing at something silly or foolish.

I think it comes naturally when something funny is said even if it doesn't make you laugh out loud.

That's why Fiona, Emma, Ben and I use "lol irl" when something really makes us laugh out loud.

Really I tend to abuse lol too much. Actually I mostly only say it when I think I just said sothing funny. I'm so conceited.

I use XD alll of the time whenever I believe something's funny. I stay away from "lol". I never realy laught out loud, and I try to stay away from any and all chatspeak. >_>; Shows how arrogant I am, but whatever. If anything, I'll take the time to type out: Hehe, et cetera.

Lol has became too over used and has lost it's meaning. My friend told me about this, and I believe I implied this in the DCC a while back. I'm not for sure though.

I use emoticons/smilies most of the time, somewhat a few times with "lol", but obviously never do it... it's just an expression for finding something funny; and obviously typing "its funny", "I find it amusing", or just plain "funny" is a lot more tedious than typing "lol"... yes, that's how lazy we computer-reliant people get... "lol"... =P

'lol' has evolved beyond the initials. It's an internet tern, like 'leet'. Using 'lol' doesn't necessarily mean the user is 'laughing out loud', but generally thinks something is funny. So what if you're really 'laughing in your mind' or whatever, the general point is something is funny and 'lol' is easy to type.

Yes, I do laugh out loud when I use 'lol'.

well I can honestly say I loled at this. in all serious though the meaning of "lol" differs from person to person, to be honest I almost never laugh out loud but I do laugh.

Edit: yea what jack said.

Lol this thread is so pointless.. anyways ppl use "lol" to express themselves quickly. Like how we use netspeak. No one bothers to type "mmsab" or "itmq" or whatever, if they can easily type 2 letters with are very close to eachother ( "l" and "o" ) well thats my theory anyways...

Most likely, when you see me typing LOL or ROTFLMAO, I really am. I tend to be truthful. LOL could mean, "Lots of Love", "Lots of Luck", etc.

lol
