This is part 1 of a Post. First I wanted to know how many people have the problem of their game starting over, without them doing it deliberately. If enough ppl have this problem then I'll post a hypothesis of why.

No, I've never had that problem before. Which game is it on?

All the GB, GBC, GBA games, maybe I should rephrase my question.
How many ppl have the above problem, when they haven't played the game for a long time (ex. over 2 months). Or if they put the game in a dirty place, cleaned it, and the game had restarted.

Of coz. Once i dropped my GB tape on the table, all memory gone.
Once i haven't played my yellow for a week, all memory gone.
Once i haven't played my red for seven months, all memory gone.
Heh...

Simply put, yes, but only for GB cartridges. The GBA ones are fine.

Nope, that's never happened to me. I wouldn't care if my Blue started over, since there's nothing special on it anymore, but I would be rasing hell if my Gold did. I have nearly 20 level 100 Pokemon it.

Well, I have like three Gold versions. (Stupid kids at school. Trade them a YGO card for it.) Anyway, I played one of those for awhile and started it up one day only to find that everything had been erased, so, yeah. =/
The message "Save File Currupted" or something like that appeared. Meh.

Hmm...my only guesses is that either the battery died on the cartridge, or someone shut off the GameBoy while the game was trying to save (that message is there for a reason :P).
Then, of course, it could be some sorta rare, wierd glitch.
It is a scary thought, though, about how easily data can get wiped out on these cartridges. I don't know what I'm gonna do in about 10 or so years, if it's really true that the batteries only last that long.
Just a risk one takes when playing any cartridge-based RPG...oo;

This happened to me multiple times before, but only on GBC/GC games, not GBA. I really dunno the cause though... So far it happened to my Blue version, the Pokemon TCG, Zelda: A link to the past DX, and a few others.

This has only happened to me with Red Version (once)...the problem is quite simple: you're blowing too hard on the cart to try to get it to work, messing up the data inside! >_>

To be honest, this has not happened to me ever. I havent played my Red and Yellow versions for a long time (months). I just checked and my memory hasn't been erased. Nothing like that has ever happened to me, I guess Im lucky or something =P

My Red deleted too but only after about 6 Months and I'm too lazy to restart. It just had no continue option one day, :boohoo:. I had this incredibly powerful Mewtwo with Speed 2 points away from max and great Sp(A). The good news is that I cloned him onto my Gold. The bad news is that his Nickname is different from the old one so people will be asking "Why is he namer 'Jr.'". My original Mewtwo was named Zeus (as in the all powerful Greek god) and I named him Zeus Jr. to distinguish between them. Now I can never rename him back.
Is it worth it now to restart my game now?

I have never had that happened, though, when I was playing Pokémon Silver at the Greensboro airport, I dropped my GBA and the game reset (no data was erased; I returned to the last time I had saved and all my Pokémon were still there). Though one time I got a piece of pretzel in the bottom part of my Crystal Version, but that didn’t hurt it. I’m always careful with my games.

I dun think so, even restarting your game cannot get his original name back.

That happened to me once on Red but I don't remember about it. Just that it happened and I barley cared.

I've only had it happen on SNES games.

I messed my yellow veirsion with a game shark. The main charecters sprite and the pikachus sprite got mixed up. So red is following a pikachu.
