first of all, you are screwed. you should have picked torchic or treeko in the start of the game. mudkip sucks. if you dont want to start a new game, catch a scarmory and train it.

dude r u feeling ok? mudkip is arguably the best starter in the R/S/E gen. if u dont think so ur on crack:tongue: .

also ya just use surf and it will hit both solrock and lunatone.

Is this emerald?

1-Train Them To Lv42 And Up.
2-Use Water Moves A Lot. Catch A Wailmer Try To Evolve To Wailord
This Should Be The Easiest Battle You've Ever Taken. ( It Will Evolve At Lv40)
You Can Catch Wailmer At Like Lv45 Or Lv46 Near The 7th Gym City.
3-Try To Have Pokemons With Dark-Type Moves

Hope i helped xD

Well, water-types OR grass-types are a must. Lunatone and Solrock are both rock-types. They're also Psychic types, so try a strong bug or dark-type Pokemon. Claydol is also a ground-psychic-type, so it'd be hurt by water/grass and bug/dark types. The only problem would be Xatu. I suggest a strong electric-type (Manetric or Raichu or something), and still bug or dark.

Also, level up. No offence, but around the 7th gym, your starter should atleast be in the mid 40's by now.

If you have an extra game (like a Ruby or Sapphire you're not playing and not that far in), restart them, get a crappy Pokemon in Emerald (or 2), and get Torchic and Treecko. Torchic, when evolved to Blaziken (which will happen quickly), will be sure to trample future competition. And a Sceptile-Swampert combo would totally wipe out Lunatone and Solrock.

Not to mention this will help finish your pokedex. XD

But yes. I suggest the above, it's the only way you're going to beat Liza and Tate. And also..it's all. about. the combos. Try to hit both Pokemon at the same time as much as possible. If the Pokemon both have a weakness to both attacks, it's likely they'll be at a red HP bar OR be KO'ed by the time both of your Pokemon attack.

As for the best starter...it doesn't matter to me. I use my Sapphire to get all 3 near the beginning of the game. XD Of course, they level up faster than I get badges! X_X

Good luck, Rufus!

I'd beg to differ. I'm a treecko fan but Torchic is the best starter in Hoenn. I did a test. I only used a starter, zigzagoon, goldeen and a wingull/pelipper. The pelipper was to fly and surf only. The zigzagoon was for strength, cut, rock smash. The goldeen was for waterfall and dive.

Anyways. In all 3 times I played with the starters. Mudkip came in 2nd place. Treecko came in last:sad: . The best was torchic. He evolved into combusken before the 1st gym.
Fighting beats rock. 2nd gym used peck. 3rd gym used ember/double kick. 4th gym used double kick.5th gym used double kick.6th gym used flametrower/skyuppercut. 7th gym used double kick and the 8th gym just used sky uppercut.
The elite 4 didn't even touch my Blaziken.

The other 2 starters didn't even make it to the 5th gym.
Torchic is the best starter out there. No questions asked. I spent 1 week doing that research. I hate saying that treecko is the worst but he is.

Thanks for the help people, I tried two times and with that I won. The first time I made the mistake of bringing my pokemon with surf out first. But that second time I lost one surf mon and then I saved the other. By the time lunatone with the last left My swapert was my only pokemon and it only took about 2 hits.
