Seriously, there's almost no difference inbetween the two.
So is Shadow Rush just a fancy Struggle?

No, SR is a move with no type that can commonly get critical hits, and that chance is uped when a Pokemon is in Hyper Mode. Its not a fancy form of Struggle.

What they do is similar, but the recoil on Struggle is dependant on the damage done (1/8th if I'm not mistaken), whereas the recoil on Shadow Rush doesn't have anything to do with the damage done.
Also, Shadow Rush is typeless, and Struggle is Normal.
And Shadow Rush is much more powerful.

Also, shadow rush can get your pokemon into hyper mode. which is used to make shadow rush do more damage or used to help purify your pokemon. You can also choose to use Shadow rush, while struggle is automatically chosen when you have no more PP for moves.

If i remember correctly struggle is also typeless. Try using struggle against a ghost type.

If possible, try to sketch Struggle with Smeargle, if that works, you can check the move's power and accuracy and type. And yeah, struggle is typeless, or else it'll be an endless battle against a ghost type, and you nor the opponent cant give in, which is a shame really. No A.I for the trainers, lol.
