Okay my Venusaur is almost lv 65 in Pokemon blue and I can decide if it should learn solar beam at lv 65 so should I teach Venusaur Solar Beam? Or not?

Here are my Venusaur's moves:

Tackle
Poisonpowder
Razorleaf
Vine Whip

I've been thinking about replacing Vine Whip with Solar Beam...
But I just want to know if my Venusaur should learn Solar Beam.

Ya teach him Solar Beam, it's good.

I agree with you that vine whip should go for Solar Beam. It would be a good choice!

Okay I was wondering cause it takes 2 turns.

Poisonpowder
Razorleaf
Vine Whip

A moveset that I'd suggest is:

-Body Slam
-Toxic
-Razor Leaf
-Swords Dance

Body Slam > Tackle
Toxic > Poisonpoweder
Razorleaf > Vine Whip and Solarbeam
And Swords Dance will make your Body Slams killer.

Solarbeam is worse than Razorleaf since it takes two turns, Razorleaf has an incredibly high critical hit rate, and Solarbeam lets your opponent have a free switch-in.

EX.

Your Venusaur began taking in sunlight.
Opponent switches his/her Blastoise with Charizard.
Venusaur used Solarbeam. Not Very Effective x2.
Good Game Venusaur :silenced:.

Um I didn't ask for a moveset I asked to see if my Venusaur should learn Solar Beam.

If you didn't want one then why did you post your own moveset? I also didn't avoid the question, I answered it in great detail.

Ness is actually right, since Razor leaf will be a ch 99% of the time, and thus will cause more damage than Solarbeam

Yeah but If I only had grass moves and I had to fight a fire pokemon I wouldn't have any other kinds of moves to use. I'll replace it with Vine Whip since it only has 10 PP though it's worse than Razor Leaf.

Why not replace tackle with Sunny Day?

That is a move from GSC and Venusaur456 is playing Pokemon Blue:

Besides I don't think Bulbasaurs, Ivysaurs or Venusaurs learn Sunny Day.

They can, but just not ing R/B/Y/G. I think that you should have kept Leech Seed on him, but thats just my opinion. Go with the moveset Ness posted.

Okay then even though I didn't ask for a moveset I'll do it.

Yes Leech Seed is one of Venusaur's most useful moves. Too bad in RBY and GSC you can't remember moves otherwise I would have suggested a moveset with Leech Seed :ermm:.

Yeah. Solar Beam is what... power 120 attack? Razor Leaf is 55, and since it ALWAYS crits in RBY, it's basically power 110. Now, power 110 attack twice in two turns, or power 120 attack once in two turns? Clearly Razor Leaf is better.

Now... about the last one... toxic is flat out better than poisonpowder. It's the same thing, only a different type of poison, one that does more damage.

I do really like mega drain, though. I'd try to work that in somehow.
