Operation Downlock: Negotiations Failed

The Story So Far…

At 1300 hours, both the Westbound and the Secretariat United Nations buildings in Rustboro City were laid under siege by a group of terrorists known as Blackthroat. At least 23 on-duty police officers and agents were killed in the initial takeover, while nearly four hundred federal agents, foreign ambassadors, diplomats, employees, and civilians are now hostages. The takeover happened during an international assembly that was already taking place at the time of the attack. It has been clear that international representatives from Hoenn, Kanto, Johto, The Orange Islands, Fiore, and Shinou are now in Blackthroat’s hands. If these hostages are killed, it would lead to international chaos and global economic catastrophe.

It is unknown how many terrorists were involved with the take over, but it has been confirmed there are at least two hundred heavily armed insurgents gathered from the Hoenn Intelligence Bureau. As reports come in, it has been understood that several mass transportation systems were used to gather the terrorists in one location disguised as civilians. Later on, they were armed only a short distance away from the building. During the infiltration, only two witnesses managed to escape capture as Blackthroat conducted its operations.

The terrorists control the fronts of the buildings, as well as the roof access. It is estimated that their strongest defenses are on the ground floors. They are considered to be highly armed with both very deadly automatic weapons and very highly trained Pokémon. However, there is a underground access which has not been discovered yet and could be used as an entry point. Meanwhile, none of the terrorists have been identified, but the leader has made himself known as Orre terrorist leader Manek Talaski. It is not known if he is at the scene of the incident, but what is known is that his men are willing to die for anything, using fanatical religious threats.

Blackthroat’s current demands are asking for a sum of $10 billion dollars in cash, but it has been confirmed by HIB that this is only a front for a much more insidious cause, very likely to be blackmail to fund a far more worse terrorist attack. Due to Manek Talaski’s background, it appears the attack may be on the basis of hatred on Hoenn.

Meanwhile, all over the world the situation is being broadcasted on television and radio. If something isn’t done soon, the world could be plunged into anarchy.

Mission:

RPers are divided up into two teams, the Blackthroat Terrorists and the Hoenn Emergency Response Team, which consists of the Rustboro City Police Department, Hoenn Intelligence Bureau, and Hoenn National Guard. The Blackthroat Terrorists need to finish their mission objectives, and find a way to obtain $10 billion dollars in cash while the Hoenn Emergency Response Team needs to find a way to rescue the hostages while minimizing hostage and HERT casualties.

Hoenn Emergency Response Team Standing:

The Hoenn forces have employed units surrounding the UN buildings, amounting to over 350 armed officers and agents. Meanwhile, snipers have been placed in various areas surrounding the buildings, and on the rooftops of five buildings surrounding the area, including the Bismark Rustboro Bank, Technicon Corporate Headquarters, Devon Corporation, The Jade Financial Corporate Headquarters, and The Bridge Group buildings. Meanwhile, all civilians and employees have been successfully evacuated from the area.

Meanwhile, there are six hostages that are mission critical:

Daniel Masterson – Hoenn’s Prime Minister
Richard McGee – President of Kanto
Jose Rodriguez – Prime Minister of The Orange Islands
Marcus Stallone – Fiore’s Prime Minister
Oswald Wright – President of Shinou
Jeffrey Taylor – President of Johto

Objectives and Resources

The six mission critical hostages must be rescued alive. All other hostages should also be given serious consideration for rescue as well, but casualties will not result in mission failure.
The UN Buildings must remain intact. Some damage will not compromise the situation, but complete collapse of the buildings is unacceptable.
If Manek Talaski is involved (which he is but HERT doesn’t know this in the beginning), he must be captured alive so HIB can discover his future terrorism plans and the reason for the blackmail.

If you decide to be a part of the HERT, you can be one of the following:

- Hoenn National Guard (Is based outside the building and is in charge of securing the perimeter. HNG is making sure no terrorists escape the surrounding area.)
- Rustboro City Police Force (Normal officers are based outside, SWAT will be in charge of heading inside and rescuing hostages. Combat may be involved).
- Helicopter Pilot (Would be surveying the area and giving mission reports, and also making sure no terrorists leave the premises.)
- HIB Hostage (You can choose to be a Hoenn Investigation Bureau hostage inside the UN Buildings, in which you will try to find ways to discreetly communicate with the forces outside. But, you must be careful as your life is on the line if you are discovered)

NPCs include on-site paramedics, civilians, and media reporters. Brad Palmer is the Chief of Police and will be leading the operation.

Blackthroat Terrorists Team Standing:

HERT does not know the $10 Billion dollars in cash will be used to fund black market acquisitions that will be enough to fund Orre’s terrorists groups to wage total war in Hoenn. In total, Blackthroat has two hundred terrorist operatives divided evenly between the Westbound and the Secretariat Buildings, but HERT is not aware of this number. Meanwhile, the six mission critical hostages are not to be touched as they are Blackthroat’s best bargaining chip toward obtaining the $10 Billion dollars in cash. Meanwhile, Blackthroat has enough weapons and powerful Pokémon to make infiltration difficult for HERT.

Objectives and Resources

Manek Talaski needs to be secure at all times. While primary negotiations have failed, he is in a location only known to the Blackthroat terrorists. It is critical this location is hidden from HERT operatives.
Obtain the $10 Billion dollars in cash. This is a critical step toward future actions in Hoenn. Meanwhile, hostages besides the mission critical hostages can be harmed/executed to provoke and entrap HERT toward giving up the money. However, reckless decisions such as killing too many hostages at once may jeopardize the situation.
Minimize terrorist operative causalities.

If you decide to be a part of the Blackthroat Terrorists, it is your job to ensure the access points are secure and that the hostages are kept under watch until your mission objectives are completed.

Suburbs of Rustboro City.

I was walking back from the small lunch room from across the street, when suddenly my beeper began to tweet like there was no tomorrow. Knowing that there was only one person capable of letting this bloody thing go off at a time like this, I pulled it off my belt and read the display. “10-90/10-99”.

“Oh, crap!” I shouted, before I dashed toward the entrance of the CTD, counter terrorist department. Some security officers passed me mid-way, shouting orders at one and other. Manny, the adipose entry desk secretary raised an eye brow when he saw me coming to an abrupt halt in front of the door leading toward the office area.

“What’s wrong?” Manny asked, being as oblivious as always. He rolled toward the door to glass window separating him and me. Meanwhile, all kinds of alarms were howling through the building. How the hell can’t he see why I am in such a hurry?

“Manny, open the door, now!” I said, finally getting the opportunity to fasten my beeper again. “This isn’t a drill, you know.” My cell phone was the next one to start making the next in a line of sounds. “Bauer,” I said, putting it at my ear.

“Sure, Mr. Bauer,” Manny grumbled beneath his breath. “Everything you say, Mr. Bauer.”

Walking onward at a high pace, the person on the other line started to talk. “Jason, Chloe here. Get to the conference room. We have an issue.” Chloe wasn’t sounding her regular freakish self. It was as if something big and pressing had happened.

“I’ll be right there,” I replied, ending the call, and walking passed the rows of working spaces. Everyone was busy cross searching databanks and scrutinizing satellite feeds. It can’t be this big.

Opening the door of the glass conference room, the buzz of voices suddenly stopped as the head of field ops stepped into the room. I took a seat at next to the head of table, and looked at the gathered department heads.

“Jason,” Chloe whispered. “You might need to read this file through after we’re finished.” She looked at me with a frightened look in her face. So, what else was new?

“Since Jason is here, let’s get started,” Ryan Chappelle said, starting the big screen video feed. “For those of you who don’t know, the both the Westbound and the Secretariat United Nations buildings have been attacked just 10 minutes ago. We’ve reasons to believe that this is a planned terrorist attack.”

“So, they didn’t tell us their demands yet?” I asked, looking at the video images streaming by on the screen. Security guards getting shot, before the cameras went dead. Masked men could be seen entering the rooms with anything ranging from handguns to rocket launchers.

“No,” Ryan answered. “But we know that they are from the Blackthroat cell, as you can tell by this insignia here.” He paused for a moment. “However, we can expect the demands to be insanely high, since there was an international assembly being held there today in which all the country leaders were present.”

“So they’re being held hostage?” I asked, looking at Ryan.

“Yes, they couldn’t be evacuated in time.” He sighed. “Listen, our objective is to take back those two buildings with the country leaders unharmed. They obviously have a couple of other hostages, along with some of our men and women, but they’re expandable. You all realize what kind of damage the world would sustain if these key figures were killed.”

A soft buzz spread through the room as several people mumbled something.

“Okay, team A is going to track terrorist movement. Team B will try to find ways to contact our people inside as well as find ways to get inside. Team C will do threat and attack analysis. Field ops will be working alongside the National Guard and the Rustboro police force. I want status reports on my station every 15 minutes. Get to work.”

Chloe tugged my arm as I was about to stand up and open the file. “Not here, Jason.”

“Jason, you stay here,” Ryan said, holding the door open for Chloe to go through. “Listen, I’m under a lot of pressure, and I can’t let you act like you did last time. Now, I have the authority to arrest you if you do anything like last time. Got that?”

“Yes, Ryan. I get it,” I replied, staring in Chappelle’s brown eyes. Two seconds later, I was out of the conference room and on my way to my office to make some phone calls and read this file Chloe gave me.

Westbound United Nations Building
Rustboro City

"We have to make a stand! If we keep backing away from these terorists, they'll just build a following. Its just a matter of time until something goes bad, as in worse than right now"

I stood bored at the door, listenting to a particularly firey speech from my liege(that would be the person I'm portecting for all you regular people, who says old language is dead). A suspicious person walked in through the elevator door. If the combat gear and camo didn't give him away, the large heavy machine gun in his hands did. I pulled my pistol from a pocket in my jacket and took quick aim. Before the necessary pressure was applied, I was knocked to the ground with a blow from a rifle. My head throbbed, ad a could feel a single round embeedded in my shoulder. From my starnge angle, I could see the same man from before now accompanied by an entourage of at least fifty men storming the conference room. The guards inside the room tried to fight back but were quickly cut down. I could see my prime minister being grabbed from behind by an unusually large thug. I clicked a silent alarm on my watch and blacked out.

I groggilly awoke to find myself unarmed and in sharp pain. I tried reaching for the small knife in a shoe compartment, but found my hands bound aswell as the compartment breached with an army knife. I scanned the room, but found no-one of high value(Namely primeministers or presidents). A second glance revealed that only one security guard was in the room, and after the blood bath I had witnessed I wasn't surprised. As I began testing the rope for weak spots, A thug walked by and kicked me. I fell over, and without my hands to cushion me, hit the hard floor with a ton of force. I spit a glob of blood and saliva at the mans shoes and was rewarded with a punch to the face, as he backed away, I glanced the Blackthroat logo. Well that sucks. I blacked out again.Glutton for punishment as always.

Commander was certain we had both buildings under our complete control. I had held the XM1014 Shotgun tightly in my hands while several others besides me were in charge of securing the roof access so none of their forces would get in. And if they even tried, for every one of theirs that entered the buildings, a hostage would be killed. That wasn’t including their officers either.

We didn’t dare head outside either, since we knew we would be sniped. Not to mention we had no business to be out there anyway.

For every officer that entered one of the buildings, we were ordered to kill one hostage, and for every fifteen minutes that the money was not delivered, we would also kill a hostage.

“Stay in your positions.” Commander Manek Talaski spoke through the channel, “We have both buildings secure, we are untouchable. Get to work on booby trapping the roof access entranceways, we don’t want anyone coming in through the roof. Meanwhile, we have the ground floors secured, going in through there would be suicide for them.”

I had gone and helped Martinez wire the door with multiple traps, rigging it so four claymores would be set off on first arrival, and then several charges of C4 would be detonated if others came in shortly after. Not only would it kill a good chopper’s worth of troops, but it would likely cause enough rubble to block off the entrance. Meanwhile, I had figured they were doing exactly the same in the Westbound building. As for the lobbies of each building, they were totally barricaded and fortified with many of our operatives, ready to unleash hell on them if they tried to enter.

Once the traps were set, Martinez and I left the door passage, and got back to our posts, now a safe distance away from the blast radius of the C4 explosive charges. We had taken one vending machine, and made cover from it, putting Cortez and Metzger behind it, both armed with AK-101s with a GP-30 grenade launcher attachment. If neither of them could find off an opposing force, I was ordered to fire back at anyone else approaching. Chances were they would try to use tear gas, so we had the masks ready the second we saw a gas can come into view.

I had checked my watch, and saw the police had thirteen more minutes before we would execute the first hostage. I knew it would take them a while to get ten billion dollars, but if they didn’t get it soon, they were risking lives and integrity. And meanwhile, Commander Talaski had a video transmission feed to show them each and every execution that was performed on the hostage.

I would certainly not want to be in the place of one of those police officers…

"What the hell do you want with 10 billion dollars, anyway?" I spat at the armed terrorist in front of me. I tried to squirm out of my bindings for what must have been the thousandth time today, and for the thousandth time, I had no luck. My parents were locked away in another room, which was probably as nasty as the room I was trapped in. Bare concrete walls, no windows, and an armed terrorist just itching for an excuse to fire off his machine gun. Lovely.

The guard just glared at me from behind his thick goggles. "That would be none of your business, you rat. Now shut up before my baby here does it for you." He waved his machine gun around menacingly.

I fell silent, knowing it was no use to talk further. His lips were sealed tight, and neither talk or hell itself would get them to open. I eyed my Pokeballs, gleaming on the shelf. They had taken those pretty quickly, but at least they hadn't gagged us. We were fairly close to a busy route, though, so they were quick to pull the trigger and give 10 bullets a new home if we tried screaming. They didn't care if we died. We were just tools, pawns in the game of war. We were their moneymakers. We were obsolete. Unimportant.

Now, the Prime Ministers and Presidents, on the other hand...

I feared for their safety, but I knew that they were safe for the time being. They were the Blackthroat's trump cards, and I knew that they would not pull them out unless absolutely necessary. They were the aces up their sleeve in this hellish game.

Just thinking about it made me try and squirm free of the ropes and get rid of that horrible, numb feeling of cut circulation, but still they held firm.

Streets of Rustboro City
13:05:00

A boy scurried through the crowded city streets of Rustboro, deep in thought. He looked the same as any other teen, and yet something was different about him. A ringing filled the area and he flipped open the cover of his sleek, silver cellular phone.

“Mike, it’s confirmed. Go ahead.” It was a familiar voice.

“Okay.” Michael replied calmly. He closed up his phone and slipped it back into his pocket. He stopped and glanced to his right, where a TV was visible through a store window. A news woman was on the screen, reporting something live.

“Terrorist attack!” The screen read. “400 Hostages taken! 10 Billion dollars demanded for return!”

Mike turned away and sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. Yes, the government was onto this… And now the media as well. Hoenn was in a crisis. Yes, it was time to go.

He darted off, blood red hair flying after him. The click-clack of his metal-covered boots was heard. He gently touched the hilt of his pistol…

Azure eyes were slightly visible from Michael’s position, inside of a bush not to far from the Secretariat Building, scanning the area. Mike was waiting for his comrades to show up, and it sure was taking a while.

Maybe I should just go back, he thought. Similar thoughts followed soon after. What’s the point of waiting? Something just needs to be done.

He moved his hand away from his gun and towards his pokeballs. His pokeballs were all in different places- the one his pale-skinned hand hovered over was on a chain attached to his belt.

“Lillypad.” He whispered.

Without him having to touch it, the familiar red light shone and solidified into a pokemon. A blue duck-like creature, facing Michael and waiting silently for orders. It’s webbed claws touched a garnet-like jewel sitting on it’s forehead, which resembeled a crown.

Mike had always wondered what the similarities were between an Espeon and a Golduck, but this was not the time to ponder over it…

"Right then, control over security system has been established, the cameras are mine. All other automated systems are on the way."

A voice crackled out from his walkie talkie, the open channel as it was known. Orders from above, they were going to be increasingly rare from now on, as he took charge of every facet of the things here, in the Westbound UN Building. The reason for this was simple, Thoth allowed quick access to every corner of the building and back, by traveling through cyberspace, and the electronic controls system of the security cameras. Of course, there was also the fact that he was a decent strategist in his own right, despite being far better with Pokemon than people. Though there was still that lingering feeling that he was here because it would be the first or second target of the raid that was bound to come, and he was rather more expendable than most. He cost far too much to keep around for too long, and besides, he was the type that would jump sides as soon as he was paid more. Within reasonable limits of course, for example, there was no way he was going to transfer allegiance to the Governments at this point in time. There were still certain guidelines to be followed after all, even if one was the mercenary of mercenaries.

Anyway, his orders.

"Right, keep the situation under control, and make sure everyone knows when the raid starts."

As if he needed to be told that. Nevertheless, orders were orders, and he was to follow them to the letter or else...
Something nasty, probably a pay cut, and he was not going to have that, was he?
In a word, no. In several words, no way in bloody hell.

Anyway, he was to keep the situation under control, so he was. Though for now, that would be limited to making sure the arrangements on the roof went as planned, and watching every camera in the building with a close eye, especially the ones around the top and bottom floors, and the hostages. He was not going to even let a fly with hostile intentions anywhere near this place, and he was going to make sure everyone knew it. Nobody got past the security set up by Silver Etherlight, nobody. Not unless they were armed with four Shadow Lugia or something, but that was not going to happen, was it? So for now, he was impregnable, or at least, as close to impregnable as it was possible in a building like this. Far too much glass around for his liking, but the least he could do was to make sure that weakness was as difficult to exploit as possible, no?

"Mine every Fire Access window with C4s please, those are the easy ones to break."

The roof was more or less secure for the time being, the entrances all barred as well as one could hope, and the game was set. Now it was time for it to begin, for the war to start, for him to earn his keep, and for some people to die. It was time, for the fighting to start.

Patrol mission

I glanced around the deserted corridor. There wasn't anyone in sight. So far so good...

My job for now was to patrol the area. So far so good. I was slightly disgruntled. I wanetd to be with the others securing the area and booby trapping the landings. I should never have agreed to the "Patrol duty". Oh well...

As soon as I turned a corner, I ran across Phillip, one of the people who was supposed to be on guard duty.

"Well?" I asked him. "Any new developments?"

"None so far," he told me. "Not that I expect anything to happen. Oh, and by the way, Spencer wants you over on landing two."

"Why?" I asked him, curiously. "What does he want me for?"

Phillip shrugged. "Maybe he wants your opinions or stuff on the booby traps. He knows what a little fireball you are." he started to chortle at his little joke. I rolled my eyes.

"By the way," I said, before going. "Remember- be alert, you walk like a pachyderm drunk on a barrel of beer. There's no way we're gonna blow this up. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am," he said with mock gallantry and left. I snorted and checked my C-210 pistol. Fully loaded. Good....

I headed towards landing two. What did he want me for..?

Despite all his tough talk, the monotony of guarding was getting to the terrorist. He was dozing off. But he wasn't asleep just yet. But I could wait. Meanwhile, I could try to pry his lips open.

"I hear someone is getting decapitated today." I tried to keep my voice as smooth as possible, and I guess it worked.

"Yeah...some senator..." he grumbled sleepily.

"Might it be that famous Kyle Hawke, or maybe Christine Hawke?"

"Nah...they're too important to waste right now..."

Well, at least my parents were safe. "Well, then, I guess it's just some unimportant guy, huh?"

"M-hm...Jhoto guy..."

At last, I could hear him snore. I'd lulled him to sleep and gotten a bit of information. Not that it mattered. I was still stuck here...

Was there any way to escape?

We had finished the traps on the top floor, consisting of a combination of six claymores, fifty kilos of C4, and some distance between us and the door. We didn’t want to be there when the whole thing exploded and shrapnel, fire, and body parts would be flying in all directions. Not to mention, they would be dropping like flies before they could even comprehend the situation.

I had been told on the radio that the police had gotten the broadcast, and were notified by a computerized voice to have a lone negotiator to deliver the $10 Billion dollars in cash, or they would be executing hostages every fifteen minutes. They also got the warning that no others would be permitted to enter either building, or more hostages would be killed. They didn’t have a whole lot of choice, and time was on our side. They only had ten minutes left, and I knew it would be impossible for them to pull it off. It would only help us to finish this even faster, and get exactly what we wanted.

I could tell Martinez and Cortez were eager to shoot something, but I simply smiled at them and told them to relax. However this worked out, they’d get to shoot at something either if the cops were stupid enough to come in here, or the campaign in Hoenn would begin. But none of those cops knew that and it was best to keep it quiet. I knew what we had to keep secret.

For now, the clock was ticking, and again and again, I made sure I couldn’t stuff another shell into this XM1014. Fully loaded, safety on, I just figured I was getting impatient. Honestly, I’d rather us leave with the money without fighting at all than to see this place become a war zone. But in time that would all be determined.

It wouldn't be long before the first hostage would be going down, and if they kept stalling, people would keep dying, and only they would get the blame for that for unprofessional police conduct.

This truly was in our hands now…

Nothing could go wrong.

The Blackthroats had everything under the palm of Commander Manek Talaski, and no matter what the stupid Hoenn Police pulled out from their sleeves; it was unlikely to work at all. There were nearing, or maybe over, two hundred hostages, and so killing a few here or there wouldn't completely wipe out our bargaining tools. Besides, we still had the six critical hostages, which were sure to get us our ten billion. But it was always nice to do it properly. First the asking of the money. When denied, the threat of killing a hostage every fifteen minutes if the money was not given. And just to back up, the threat of killing a hostage for every person who dared enter the building without the permission of the Blackthroats. I knew that we'd soon be heading off, back to Orre, with ten billion in hard cash with us. And there was a piece of crap that the police could do.

I turned another corner, and continued down the long, carpeted corridor of the Westbound UN building that the Blackthroats had secured along with the other. Most of the higher-up officials re stationed in the Secretariat building, but the police weren't to know that. As I passed another window, I saw a gathering of people outside the buildings, but none straying too close, for fear of being sniped by one of the terrorists. After all, Manek Talaski was notorious for coming up with flawless plans. It would be interesting to see how the Hoenn police handled this.

As I walked, I passed another member of the Blackthroats, Mariah, mumbling darkly, and drumming a tattoo on the barrel of her gun. I grinned. Mariah was the type of person who was desperate to kill something. Sure, the pleasurable feeling of plunging a dagger into someone, or watching a bullet pierce his or her heart is enjoyable, but Mariah goes made if she doesn't kill someone every day. Of course, with the resources Commander Manek Talaski has, it's not a difficult feat.

As I walked past her, I said, "Don't fret. Knowing these stupid Hoenn police idiots, they'll send in some SWAT team, only to be killed. And you can do the killing."

And with that, Mariah’s face split into a large, and vampire-like grin...

Counter Terrorist Department,
Rustboro City.
13:15:00

Sitting behind my desk, I opened the file, and began to read. A familiar face on a photograph made me realize what this document was. Over the past year, I had infiltrated in a Hoenn terrorist cell which had been planning an all out strike on several Kanto targets. There I met this guy called Michael Amador, an international arms dealer. CTD had placed constant surveillance on him, in case he was ever planning to sell another load of weaponry.

The shots showed Amador meeting two others, both unfamiliar faces, who seemed to be interested in some of his merchandise. As I went to the next page, a disk was attached to that page, along with a transcript of the conversation on disk. I frowned at the inventory sold by Amador.

My phone rang...

“Bauer,” I answered quickly.

“Jason, Chloe, we’ve got trouble. Those Blackthroat terrorists have demanded 10 billion dollars in cash, and every 15 minutes that we don’t deliver, they’ll kill a hostage.”

“Dammit!” I shouted. Trying to think as fast as I can, I had a revelation. “Chloe, the president is taken hostage, right? Do you know what building he’s in?”

“Yes, he’s in the UN, but why do you ask?”

I decided to ignore her question. “Ok, get a troop of Zubat, Golbat and Crobat on stand-by. And find me the blueprints of both along with their architect asap.” I thought for a moment. “Oh, and get me the vice-president.”

“Why?” she asked. I was probably insane when I hired her as my secretary.

“Just do it, Chloe. Thanks.” I hung up the phone and dialed Chappelle’s office. “Ryan, it’s Jason. I need you to get a couple of things for me from Division along with talking to the police captain to give me his four best close combat SWAT men.”

“Why do you need them for? I’m busy as it is,” Ryan replied. I could see him turning around and facing me from over at his desk.

“Can’t explain now, but I’ve found a lead. I’m sending you the list of things now.”

“Okay, got them. But I’m expecting a reason when I get back to you,” Ryan said just before he hung up.

Chloe came into my office. “Vice-president on line two. Oh, and Jason, the Bat squad is on stand-by.”

“Good,” I said to her as I picked up the horn again. “Good afternoon, mister Vice-president.”

“There’s nothing good this afternoon, Jason. I hope you can change that,” Vice-president David Palmer said. “Though, I’m not so sure that I’m going to like the reason why you are calling.”

“I’m afraid not, sir,” I replied. “I’m calling to ask if you can postpone the delivery of the ransom.”

Chloe gasped for air at my request and so did the vice-president. “Jason, are you mad. They’re threatening to kill a hostage every 15 minutes we’re late. I can’t let them be sacrificed.”

“I understand, sir, but hear me out.” I looked at Chloe, and shoed her out of the room. “I’m planning a strike at one of the siege points, and I need all the time we can get to prepare. Now, you know as well as I do, that we don’t negotiate with terrorists.”

“You better be lucky today, Jason. The loss of those heads of states will be devastating.”

“So will be handing them 10 billion dollars. Who knows what they’ll do with it?”

“Okay, Jason, I’ll try to hold of the payment for as long as I can.” Palmer did obviously not like this, judging the tone of his voice over the secure line.

“Thank you, sir,” I said, wanting to put the horn on the receiver. However, Chappelle had to pop up on line one. “Bauer.”

“Jason, I’ve done what you said. Now, what’s this about?”

“Ryan, this doesn’t go beyond this conversation. I’m planning a strike on one of the buildings. Vice-president Palmer agreed to it.”

“Jason! Didn’t I tell you not to repeat what you did last time?”

“I know, but we need results, and I deliver those,” I replied, hanging up. Now wasn’t the time to argue. The first hostage was about to be executed.

I awoke again, to much time had past. From the weariness of the people around me I could tell that I had been out at least an hour. That meant around 2:00 since the attack. I needed to do something, but from here, Bound and wounded I was useless. I had to break these ropes. I made another of my split second stupid decisions, and used my knees to knock a patrolling terrorist to the ground. He didn't get up, due to well placed pressure on his chest. I cut the ropes from my hands with the terrorists bayonet, and witnessed the pleasant sight of another terrorist checking on his buddy. It took him a whole seven seconds to realize what had happened. He aimed his weapon, and I drew his pistol(this was one of those odd times where destiny seems to grip you by the shirt and chunk you down the hall wherever it wants you to go: it was my gun) I fired a single round, and the man dropped dead. In a matter of seconds, terrorists would be all over this room. With my injured shoulder, taking the rifle was out of the question, so I left the room with my pistol and his knife. In a second I was in a janitors closet, and when a guard came to check the room, I was braced on the ceiling. Heh, it actually worked... I checked the magazine. One round. I have one round, an army knife and... Cleaning supplies? And then it hit me.

Westbound United Nations Building

I rummaged through the closet in the room. I found a few containers of cleaning fluid, which is exactly what I was looking for. I needed somehting to ignite all this liquid with. It was as good as petroleum at firestorming a hallway, but without ignition, all I could do was play janitor in this hellhole. In a pinch I could flare it with my last round, but I think i'll need it later. Just then, another of the cretins entered the room. I pulled the knife from its sheath silently, and went for the mans neck. Its would only be a matter of time before they found out he was gone, but I planned to bust everyoen out by then. I searched his pockets and found the prize I was looking for: a lighter. I also found a pack of cigarettes which would work for fuses later on. I got to work on my homemade firebombs. At the end of it, I had six large cleaning solution bottles with a cloth wedged in the spouts. In all of them, a single piece of string from the cloth descended into the perfectly measured liquid. Just enough to produce a satisfying "Boom" while not fizzlingthe flame that would descend. With some caulk, I had placed a cigarrette in each cloth if I ever needed a fuse. I was now armed to take at least forty of these terorists with me. I had a feeling that I wouldn't be leaving here alive, But I would make it easier for the HERT forces to fight their way in. I started by placing one container near the remaining cleaning supplies. I then attached a few select pieces of metal to the door and the floor, then placed a pool of lighter fluid around the setup. It was rigged to spark upon opening, effectively blowing a nice four foot hole through the wall and launching more cleaning supplies into the hallway. It would then ignite turning this hallway into a fire place. I did't intend to stick around to watch. I attached the five remaining firebombs on my belt and began walking down the prepared to leave the room.

Midnight in Petalburg City

“Go, Gengar,” I hissed. I threw the blue-topped Pokéball at the grounds, it rolled and opened in the air, sending a rather fat, dark violet Ghost-typed Pokémon. I was going to rob a house of a wealthy family in Petalburg, the house with beautiful garden which was planted with colorful flowers and plants. Under the moonlight, the house looked more beautiful. “Gengar, that house is our next victim. Go invisible and try to monitor the house.

Gengar cried softly, it floated towards the house and became invisible. Gengar went through the metal wall and faded. With my black coat, I hid under a tree in front of the house, trying not to attract people around. I sat down under the pouring moonlight in silent, waiting for Gengar to come back.

It was so quiet in Petalburg, a small beautiful town. It was not like my city when I was a child, when my stupid parents haven’t ditched me. Everyone there looked like didn’t have any sleep time, which affected my growth. I hardly sleep at night, that’s why I had the energy to stay awake at night. I looked at the metal wall where Gengar came to, no signal from Gengar, which meant that I have to wait a bit longer.

The house in front of my house was the Petalburg Gym Leader’s house, he was so wealthy. From what I’ve heard, he has got a gold necklace which was very expensive, even though I did not know how much it cost for sure. I could use the money I got for my own gain, and no, not for the Blackthroat. The Terrorist Community I have joined for years. I didn’t really care much about it; it was just like my part-time job. I loved being a robber, not Terrorist.

I still waited for Gengar to give me any signals.

Sorry if it's too short :|

He just walked straight out of the door like he owned the bloody place...

And no one was doing anything to stop him. He must have been good, but I knew that I was better. I was a trained killer, and he was some politician who happened to know how to knock out a few people here and there. Quietly, I drew my blade from my shoes, and stood, hiding in the shadows of the passage, knowing that no one could see me. I had passed my stealth and concealment training with the SWAT with flying colours, so I wasn't too worried about being caught. I had other things to worry about. Slipping past the man, I managed to get into the room, and what I saw made me shudder. I knew a homemade bomb when I saw one, and this was no exception. Our entire project was going to be done by a politician! And Commander Talaski wasn't here to give orders. This was bad. And so, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Knowing this man to be a killer, I launched myself at him, whipping my blade around so that I had it pressed against his Adam’s apple. I'd like to see him get out of this. Dragging him roughly, I walked over to the cleaning liquid all over the floor, and did my best to kick the fuse out of the way, so that nothing would happen. I then turned to this politician, or whoever he was, and pressed the blade all the harder, drawing a line of blood.

I quickly flipped on my radio, calling the higher-up officials. "I think we've got the hostage who can be shot first. He's on the third floor of the Westbound UN building. I've got him here, so no need to panic. Come and get him quickly..."

I then turned to the hostage, and muttered evilly, "Nice try, buddy, but you aren't going to outsmart the Blackthroats.

"Idiots, all of them."

Watching the man waltzing around the building like he was some sort of hero, Silver almost despaired at the pathetic state the terrorists were in. The man was probably a trained soldier, but really now, how on Earth did the Blackthroat Terrorists get that stupid? No matter, it was time to do what he did best, make sure he did not get out alive. There was probably no need to leave the room yet, as he watched the many screens from his perch, the eyes and ears of the entire Blackthroat troupe that were in this building, this place.
At least, that was what he was about to do, until a certain Tobias Faustus had disarmed him and pinned him down, proving that they were not all fools after all. The Blackthroats that was, the HERT were probably still flailing around mindlessly wondering what to do, and already, the executions were starting any time soon now. At least, they were, until this man had interrupted the schedule by killing the Terrorists in his own methodical order. Still though, he was beaten, and Silver did not have to leave his seat, and could continue coordinating the strike on this building.

"Tobias Faustus, strip him down to his underpants, tie him up again, properly bless your soul, and throw him onto the roof. And when you're done, start with the executions."

The rooftop was mined, and he could watch the whole place without a care from his throne here in this room of steel and screens, like a king. Or rather, like a god. He controlled the fates of everyone in here, and not all of them knew it. The best part was, the pay was nice too, nice enough for an 'Office Job' at least, and besides, once this was done, he could retire happily. Maybe do some Pokemon battling on the side, and finally catch those last two Pokemon that were missing from his team, just maybe. Though he had been with the Blackthroats for quite a while now, so for all his mercenary ways, he did owe something to them in a strange, unexplainable way. Not quite loyalty yet, but possibly nostalgia or something.

"And Tobias, I'll be watching. Don't screw up or you'll get Tri Attacked in the back of your neck, alright?"

Thoth made some strange noises.

Mike waited, but no one arrived. He wasn’t sure how much longer he had, but decided he wasn’t going to wait and see. Checking to see no guards were around, he stepped out of hiding with golduck at his side.

“LP, Foresight!” He commanded quietly. A red light shone from Lillypad’s eyes and a horde of traps were visible.

“Good, keep it up.” He said, heading towards a window and avoiding traps.

A couple of minutes passed and Michael found himself and Lillypad sitting on his Flygon’s back, glancing in the window. His face was pressed up against the glass like a child looking into a candy store.

The young SWAT agent expertly cut the window with a knife, returning Flygon to her pokeball. He kept Lillypad out.

Pushing one of his red locks of hair out of his eyes, Michael stepped into the empty room with a click from his boots, azure eyes once again scanning his surroundings.

I was pushes against a wall with a sword to my neck. This was a situation I had been put in many times during tours of duty, and each ttime I managed to escaped with only minor wounds. This time was different, this man had alot of ability, and I wasn't about to underestimate him. I still had the lighter in my hand from booby trapping the door, so I flicked it and watched a chemical rich air ignite. He seemed stunned so I had just a second to duck away. He was taller, so he would be at least slightly burned. Whatever, that wasn't how he was going to die. I had my knife in hand, and quickly disarmed him. I was now armed with two baldes, and he was pressed against the opposite wall in the same fashion I had been restrained a few minutes ago. with my knife I cutof his holsters and radio and kicked them away. Then I pulled a silencer that the enemy had negleted to remove from my person and twisted it on to the handgun I had stolen. I held it to his stomach pushing him agaisnt the wall.

"Affirmative."

Silver Etherlight was my direct senior, and technically had no power, nor authority to speak out and give me orders. But what he said was true, and probably the smartest thing to do, even if Silver had threatened me. But I wasn't one to make mistakes, and so I took it without bothering about moral issues. However, this little politician-boy was more than he seemed. With unnerving ease, he twisted from my grip, and lit a fire just above my head with a small cigarette lighter. The fool. If he thought fire was going to scare a Blackthroat, then he had another thing coming. But by some sheer ill fated luck, he grabbed my blade from me, before pushing me up against a wall, and holding a gun (with silencer to boot) to my stomach. And he was pressing hard.

I grinned.

This was more like it. It was completely useless, and stupid if I could strip down this man without the slightest of interferences. He had, however, over-looked one thing. And that was he was in a building stuffed to the brim with Blackthroats, and they were patrolling. Sure enough, one passed the corridor perpendicular to the one we were standing in, and her presence was enough for the politician-boy to hesitate. And give me enough time to react. With a swift roundhouse kick, I snapped the flat of my foot to his head. It wouldn't knock him out, but did push him several paces backwards. With that, I managed to grab his arm, and twist it painfully until he dropped the gun, and kicked his other hand until he dropped the blades. I then decided it was not time for play.

Yelling, "I've got a loose one here!" I plucked my Kangaskhan from my belt, and flung the poké-ball into the air. From within, a pallid light erupted, and formed into my mighty and powerful Kangaskhan, who had killed very many people along side, me. "Hold this politician-boy against the wall while I strip him down. Understood?"

The beast nodded once, and pushed the man up against the wall, the fire doing nothing to harm her. I quickly tore the man's top off, and with it doused the flames, before continuing to take of politician-boy's clothes. And what was even better was three Blackthroats were wandering down the hallway, grinning maniacally. While taking the man's pants off, I grabbed him by the neck, and whispered very softly. "Never, ever try to outsmart the great Tobias Faustus. I've done in even the greatest of SWAT teams in a blink of an eye. Do not under estimate me. Politician-boy..."

The first three hostages had been assassinated. We hadn’t heard anything about them getting the money, so we were told one of the terrorists took a Desert Eagle, and the shot each hostage in the back of the head. We were given the channel feeds, but the only thing we really heard was the gunshot. There were no screams. Meanwhile, we heard Manek Talaski’s demands in a computerized voice. It was all being played for the cops outside, so they would quickly know of their mistakes.

“That makes three hostages that are now dead because of your incompetence.” The computerized voice told them, “Three hostages with families and children now torn apart because you were too naïve to fulfill our demands. The question now lies with you, and how many more families we need to destroy before you give us what we want. The clock is ticking. Get the money ready now, or prepare the pathetic excuses you intend on telling the families of these hostages about how stupid you were to save them.”

So far, we had received no indication of anything being obtained. Not even a dime, and they were still letting all of these hostages remain at risk. We would hear something though, as I knew the media was reporting on every element that was happening. Three hostages dead from the HERT doing nothing would look very bad on them in front of the entire world.

Meanwhile, the seven of us kept the roof access secure, even beyond the traps. Cortez and Martinez were bored enough to play Dots on a post it note, while Metzger broke open a vending machine for a Dr. Pepper, and got one for Cyrus and Roberto. I wasn’t much more excited than they were, but I was still on the alert. I knew the traps would definitely set off first before we had to get our weapons ready, but… I didn’t like the idea of letting my guard down for a bottle of high fructose corn syrup…

Still, we kept away from the windows. I knew they couldn’t see through them, but still, that wouldn’t stop them from using thermal visors, and then release sniper fire from the glass. However, I had a feeling that even if they did do that, they risked having hostages executed for each operative of ours that was taken down.

I still waited, finally shrugging as Metzger offered me a bottle of water. It was getting hot wearing the Kevlar, so I figured a cold drink wouldn’t hurt. I set the XM1014 Shotgun aside and twisted off the cap. After pulling down the covering around my mouth, I took a long drink of water, and it was enough to cool me down. Once I was done with it, I pulled up the covering again, and kept the XM1014 close by.

I was interested to see what these police were going to do…

I was mildly stunned. Thinmking your unstoppable is one of the necessities to being a risk-tkaing berserker. They had me down to my boxers now, and it was then that I reacted. I could see the lighter a few feet away, And I had a plan. I pretended to be injured by the kick, and slumped down the necessary few inches, I then grabbed the lighter and lit the firebomb to my right. In a second it was flaring as the cloth burned. The man and his thug jumped back for a second and then I threw it. It smacked the thug in the forehead right as the fuse expired. I covered my face as the explosion erupted. The thug was dead, and the man wh0o had pinned me earlier had been knocked to the ground. I grabbed the blade and shoved it through the space between the radius and ulna of his right arm. He grimaced as the blade smacked a nerve. The damage wouldn't be permanent, but enough to keep him down for a few hours. I then pierced the other side pinning him to the ground. I took an unburned piece of my shirt and gagged him with it, then used another strip to fasten his left arm to the hilt of the weapon. I grabbed his machine gun and the shirt and pants of the dead thug. I now looked like a regular blackthroat thug. I was satisfied to see that the camera had been burnt up in the explosion. The burn top part of the shirt seemed quite suspicious considering it was completely charred, but I had seen more than one officer with the same battle-scarred clothing. I walked inconspicuously from the room the remaining firebombs hidden beneath the baggier clothing. I closed the closet and wedged a piece of metal in the space between the door and wall disabling the ability of the door knob to open the door. I used a larger piece of metal to wedge the bottom of the door. It would take more strength that one arm could offer. A crackling at my waste was enough to alert me to the radio at my waste.

"Hey, Bonzo get over hear to the execution room, its your turn to take a shot."

"Where is that again, this building is so dang big"

"Remember that elevator we used to get to the conference level, take a right from their"

"Roger that"

Finally I had a workable plan. This would take more luck than I would hope, but I needed to start somewhere.

F*ck!

I was pinned to the ground by a bloody politician-boy! How the hell did he manage that? Okay, so maybe he wasn't a politician, but he still seemed too weak, and too aggressive to be a proper fighter. He seemed more of a berserker who didn't mind getting killed. But of course, being a berserker, he wouldn't have noticed one thing. My Kangaskhan. How he had managed to slip out from Kangaskhan's grip was beyond me, but I knew I didn't have much time to think about it. The Kevlar vest I was wearing beneath was more than enough to protect an actual blood vessel from being popped, but the stab from the blade had been so strong that it had cut a piece of Kevlar out of the vest, and it was digging into the very spot where the blade should have pierced. Given time, I could remove it with minimal damage, but I had to worry about politician-boy. And Etherlight, he threatened to shoot me of politician-boy escaped.

"Kangaskhan. Pin the as*hole to the ground, and cut his leg up. Not too much, but enough to stop him form walking. Now!"

The beast growled, and already angry at the assault on me, pounded after politician-boy. One of the two Blackthroats who had managed to escape the bomb-blast nodded at me as well, and ran after the man, a rope tight in his hand. The other Blackthroat bent down, and slowly prised the blades out of my Kevlar vest, and helped me to remove the Kevlar from my skin. It had pricked, and blood was coming out, but not at an untameable speed. I pinched the wound tight to stop the blood flow, and then walked after the Blackthroat to where Kangaskhan was dealing with politician-boy. The massive beast Body Slammed the man, coupling it with a Slash to the man's leg. He may have been wearing a Blackthroat's outfit, but Kangaskhan could smell his treachery. Making sure that he leg was wounded, and that Kangaskhan had pinned him down properly, the two Blackthroats and I stripped him down again, and bound him up tight. Tighter than Commander Talaski's grip on his money. And for those of you who don't know, that's pretty damn tight.

"Listen here, f*cker!" I snarled, the blood-wound still stinging, but not enough for me to collapse on the ground wailing. "I f*cking warned you never to try and outsmart me, didn't I? Now you get shot."

And quicker than food down Mariah's gullet (which is also pretty fast), the two Blackthroat and I got this fool up to the roof, and I left the two lower placed people to guard him with their soul, giving orders to shoot if he moved. I then left the top of the roof, and wandered down to the healing ward on the fourth floor. As I sat there, my wound being dabbed by a cotton swab, and stinging like nobody's business, I wondered who the hell politician-boy was, and why he seemed so intent on getting himself killed. But I had other things to do. I picked up a spare radio, and radioed in to Janus Aramov, who was in the Secretariat building, but was probably the most senior Blackthroat present.

"Sir, I have a reckless hostage up top of the Westbound building. If given permission to speak freely, I would recommend just shooting him here and now. Awaiting orders. Over."

I thought I was home-free, but not noticing things was another back-fall. I gave up the recklessness of my secret service job and began to think back to my days in spec. ops. I was on the roof now, surrounded by two lower level grunts. They looked fairly weak comapred to the crazy bastard from before. Ok, I knew I could over-power them, and I knew I could probably break these ropes. I needed to break the ropes first meaning I would have at least seven rounds through me by the time I escape. That wouldn't work. I didn't have any equipment with me. I surveyed the roof-top and noticed that parts of the roof had claymores in them. These dudes seemed to avoid like their lives actually mattered to blackthroat. One of them had walked over to check how many police officers there were below. This was my chance. In a single swift motion I turned myself sideways and spun my body right at his legs. He lost balance and fell to the ground below with a splatting sound. Luckily he had dropped his gun, and I used the bayonet on the end to cut the ropes. I drew the weapon and shot the man in the back as he was leaning over. He was just barely on the roof. I grabbed his corpse removed the blackthroat garb and wore another those filthy outfits. I then shoved his body over the side of the building, gave a thumbs up to police, and used a bayonet to morse code the location of the execution room.

"Hey, Steve stay put I'm bringing about half-a-dozen men to relieve you of your post."

I smiled, this was going to get interesting.

"Ok, sure thing"

I entered the roof access and rewired the C-4 to the center of the stairs. Now I needed an ignition plate. I searched my new pockets, and was pleased to find another lighter. I could probably wait here until they climbed the stairs then toss the lighter and run like hell.

There they were as promised, I was against the wall in a dark space between two crates. Right as they neared the top of the stairs I tossed the lighter, and watched the fuse for a second. Then I ran I heard an enourmous "BOOM" in the background, but in the crrent moment, I tried to looked sloghtly frightened and mroe than slightly evil. I walked up to what looked like a superior officer and told him what had happened.

"Sir, the C-4 on the roof-access detonated"

"So, how many did we kill"

"Sir, someone must haved used the explosives against us, because I heard a delay between the explosion of the right and left sides. We have an inside man here, and he just killed seven."

Perfect, I now looked like a regular grunt, who was smart enough the figure out how the explosives went off. I was satisfied that my voice was the same as the grunt who owned this shirt.

OOC: Dark Rider, you run right into that building’s lobby and you’ll be worse off than a executed criminal that picked a firing squad as a means of execution. :P

And Sent, you post is coming pretty close to God-modding. No terrorists were on the rooftops because of the snipers, meaning the traps would have been set behind the doors and completely out of sight. I even mentioned this in previous posts. Those guys on the roof would have been sniped by the Hoenn National Guard long before you would have arrived. I seriously don’t like compensating for mistakes we never made.

But by all means, be my guest, try to be the hero, and end up blowing the mission for you and your entire team. You’re being very reckless with your approach and if you continue with it, you’ll probably lose everything. You’re definitely underestimating our resolve.

Everything was seemingly going fine until we heard a blast coming from the other building. We had suddenly snapped to attention, grabbing our weapons and preparing for a similar strike. There was a delay, but then nothing.

We then got a contact in the radio that they saw several of our own operatives on the roof.

“About how many did we lose?” Another Blackthroat operative asked.

“Seven.” One of the others replied, “We lost seven, its was confirmed on the roof.”

I really didn’t know, it looked like something major happened on the roof of the other building. I knew it wouldn’t be long before Manek Talaski was alerted of the situation.

“Sir,” Another operative contacted the Commander, “I have a reckless hostage up top of the Westbound building. If given permission to speak freely, I would recommend just shooting him here and now. Awaiting orders. Over.”

“Finish him.” Commander Talaski ordered him, “And kill seven other hostages as payback for own downed operatives. I will not tolerate defiance!”

I couldn’t help but laugh. The HERT were going to look shameful in the media, and then, I heard seven shots blast out from the radio, and screams and commotion before the transmission was shut off. That marked another seven hostages dead, and then Talaski gave his second warning to the police.

“I want your operatives out of the building now.” The computerized voice warned the HERT, “I have an automatic pointed to Jeffery Taylor’s head, and if I find out your men are still in the building, I will execute him. Any more men of ours die, and the free world as you know it will be no more.”

It was there that he ended the transmission. Meanwhile, no money was in sight. But I knew that if Jeffery Taylor was assassinated, Johto would be frantic trying to substitute another leader for him on short notice.

Indeed… they would be responsible for the chaos in their own world.

Silver had watched somewhat calmly as the grunts slowly got themselves disposed of one, by one, by one. It had been quite sad really, how little resistance these underpaid workers could put up, but apparently this politician had failed to realise that there were cameras everywhere in this building. Everywhere. Did he really think he had escaped? Surely not, surely not. Silver Etherlight had just chosen not to intervene yet, but that did not mean he did not intend to have the Blackthroats lose this war. They paid him, and they were going to get their money's worth, which meant that this menace would be stopped, and stopped he would. Hell if he let something as insignificant as this man escape him. The Blackthroats would not be the one to shoot him, he would do himself in.

"Tobias, forget about the escapee. I've got a plan."

Switching the radio frequency to the open channel, he called for one of the Blackthroats in the execution chamber to push the shootings ahead of schedule, and he could take his pick as to which one to kill. If he was such a righteous military man, there was only one thing he could do, throw himself in and try to stop the killing, and that, would be his downfall. Unless he was just in it for the kicks, then he would be stopped in his own way more than quickly enough. Men like that tended to die young, and he was several years past that age of youth that most of them breathed their last. There was no doubt about it, this man would die, and he would pay for all the lives he had taken from the Blackthroats, and he would pay for ruined traps, for wasted explosives, and most of all, he would pay for completely ignoring the fact that there was somebody watching him.

Turning to the microphone for the Public Announcement System, the white haired mercenary spoke, his voice almost like a whisper. A threat.

"The executions have begun. Any person trying to enter or leave the execution chamber is to be shot on sights. There are to be no ifs, or buts about it. I don't care if it is your brother or your sister-in-law, they are to be shot. Preferably in the gut."

And so, the game was set. A single berserk ex-operations member against the best paid member of the Blackthroat Terrorists, there was no doubt about it, there could only be one winner. Of course, what he did not know was that someone else had issued the same execution order as well, but it would make no difference to him. Anybody who tried anything in that place apart from their assigned duties were going down, they were going to die.

Dammit.

Arriving with my crew at the ground zero, after briefing them completely and equipping them correctly, I had to see several explosions coming from one of the buildings. A technician signaled me to get into a van parked about a block away from the scene. Holding his index finger above a play button, he told me to put on the headphone.

“I want your operatives out of the building now,” a scrambled voice said. “I have an automatic pointed to Jeffery Taylor’s head, and if I find out your men are still in the building, I will execute him. Any more men of ours die, and the free world as you know it will be no more.”

“When did this come in?” I asked.

“Two minutes tops, sir,” the soundman replied.

“Okay, put me on a line with this guy. And I’m ordering you to disconnect all voice recordings of this conversation.”

“B-but, sir, I can’t,” he stuttered.

“You do as I tell you. I’m the ranking officer here, and you do as I say.”

Moments later, I was equipped with a microphone and a connection with whoever was putting out this signal. “This is HERT tactical command. I’m here to talk to you. Whoever is blowing up your stuff inside that place wasn’t sent in. You guys trapped him or her in yourself. Also, killing a head of state isn’t going to work. Those five individuals are the reason we’re having this conversation. Personally, I could care less what happened to them, but we’ve got a job to do, and they direct our budget.” I paused for a bit. “Now, you keep them all alive, and you have some kind of leverage on us. Kill one, and then we’ll have to assume you can’t be left alive, and we’ll attack head on. Do what you must. Have a blast.” I disconnected the transmission.

That should’ve shocked them. Unorthodox play was required here, and my people were instructed to play on those terms. The architect showed us three hidden pathways between the two buildings and to the outside as well. It had been built, but deleted from the official blueprints afterwards to conceal it. Consequently, there were no means of surveillance on route to the hidden pathways or near both sides of it. So far, we’re just acting under the assumption that Blackthroat hasn’t discovered any of them yet.

My men and I were ready to go in. We headed towards the main entrance of this underground passage, fully equipped with weapons and tactical accessories. Sadly, I had to pull some strings in my old terrorist cell to gain some knowledge on these people, and this wasn’t the ideal time to do so. We had wasted precious time doing that, but hopefully the effort would pay off eventually.

We removed all our dog tags and other recognizable features, and proceeded into the sewer system. Somewhere halfway, we changed into our tactical outfits, so not to alert any curious Blackthroat member peering out of a window with a goggle.

They’d better expect us or they’ll have something else coming.

From where Nautas stood the building was like a black hole. Nautas went around the buliding look for a easy way in when a man stepped out from behind a staircase. "My, my, looking for a way in ey? Well then you have to get past me," the man said.

"Whats your name!?" Asked Nautas. "Thats not important what is important is for you to lose and die." The man shouted. "Why are you even going to give me a chance?" asked Nautas again. "Because I want to watch you suffer and have your pokemon watch you die," Said the Terroist.

"What the heck a sort of nice terroist," he laughed inside his head. "Idiot" as he thought some more.

"Okay come on out Tauros and Tyranitar," the Blackthroat grunt yelled.

"Well then come out Arcanine use Take Down on Tyranitar and come out Lapras and use Psychic to lift Tauros" Nautas knew a good plan and he wasnt going to spoil it.

The attacks had caught the grunt off guard and his Tyranitar looked hurt and his Tauros was dangling in thin air. "Arghhh....." okay use Ice Beam Tyranitar aim for both.

Nautas was ready he sent Arcanine to take all the damage then told Lapras to Wash away the bull pokemon with a Water Pulse. As he did Tyranitar was preparing for something Nautas didnt know what it was but he had to hurry

"Use Surf on both pokemon Lapras! Arcanine get ready" The giant Wave knocked over both pokemon when it happend.

The Grunt had enough. He took out his rifle and started shooting like a maniac both of his pokemon were back in their pokeballs now it was just the grunt shooting like a maniac, Arcanine, Lapras, and Nautas but Nautas knew what to do the second he saw the rifle hanging from the grunts side he prepared himself and ran over when the shots were fired. He could feel as some bullets just missed his neck swishing past his hair. He ran over grabbed over and flipped the grunts hand leaveing him on the ground.

He shoved the grunts body into the side of a trash can and covered him with bags being unconsious there was nothing the grunt could do.

Nautas ran inside prepared for the enemies, traps, and hostages he would have to face.

Midnight in Rustboro - Trying to get into the house

Gengar came out from the metal well just right after I looked at it. It floated towards me as I approached it. “Everything’s safe?” I asked. Gengar went silent, then after some seconds, it nodded, but softly. It looked not so sure. “It looks like you’re worrying about something, what happen?” Gengar shook its head. I didn’t know why Gengar became like this …

“Okay, if nothing’s wrong, lead me to break through this house,” I commanded Gengar. It touched my arm as it went invisible and so did I. Gengar pulled my hands and took me with it, flying. I felt the same sensation whenever I became invisible; free and exciting. We went through the metal wall, inside a large garden of colorful flowers was displayed.

“So Gengar, do you know where the gold necklace is?” I whispered it. Gengar shook its head. “Fine, we’ll seek for it together,” I said. Gengar landed on a wooden surface in front of a glass door. “We should not make any noise, now Gengar, if you don’t mind, will you make me invisible while we’re trying to find the gold necklace?” I asked.

It obeyed, once again, it touched my left arm and brought me in … but unexpectedly, a bell rang, it made a very noisy sound. I believed that it’s an alarm.

Booby trapping lifts

"Locked and stocked, Nick," I told a man next to me.

"Erm, and how exactly does this thing work?" he asked me. "Just tell me what you've done so far. Star from the beginning."

"First," I began. "I ordered the lift to be disabled, so that I could do my work easily. Now, what I did will be a surprise. Anyone who goes up, or down the lift, will have a nasty surprise...the lift will be in pieces."

"And, what were you doing in near the ventilation systems?"

"Well," I said. "That I'll explain later. First, I want to know is it true that HERT have begun to attack?"

"I think so," he replied.

"We've got no time to lose," I said. "Follow me."

"What's that paper in your hand?"

"Just follow me...."

Dude...you ate my cookie :'(

I walked along a long corridor, and finally stopped before a double door. It was guarded by four men wielding SMG rifles. They looked at me for a second, nodded, and knocked thrice. The door opened to reveal two men in masks and guns pointed towards us, before they slowly lowered it. I entered the room and glanced around.

So this was the conference room of these bloody-

I was interrupted by a voice, which was loud and authoratative, yet had a trace of fear.

"Here, you!" he said. I turned around to see a group of ten people or so surrounded by twenty people wielding weapons pointed towards their heads. "You have no right to hold us. Lets us go, now!" he snapped.

I smiled. So this was supposed to be our friend Daniel Masterson, Prime Minister of Hoenn...

"I walked towards him. He seemed slightly nervous, indignant, and the corners of his moustache twitched. I smiled sardonically.

"Okay, Chum Lee," I told him. "I want you to read this paper, and make it quick, got me?" I asked him.

He took the paper read a few lines and looked up at me, furious.

"You cannot make me do this!" he said. "You cannot-"

On my signal, the terrorists show four hostages in their heads. The corpses just fell to the carpeted floor silently.

"If you insist on playing hero," I said. "Your citizens will be executed before your very eyes, amigo. So, what will it be?" I asked, pointing the gun to hs head.

"Very well," he sighed dejectedly and proceeded to read the paper.

"My fellow counterymen and citizens, I wish to announce that the lives or several people, including the six leaders are in jeopardy. Already, a few families have been torn apart, and the situation can, and will worsen further. In order to prevent mass chaos, it's my request, on the behalf of everyone held hostage here, to make the HERT forces retreat, and secede to the demands of the Blackthroat organization, for the sake of world peace, and the hundreds of families and relatives."

All this while, his statement was being recorded. As soon as he finished, he sighed heavily and looked at us.

"Now what are you going to do?" he asked.

"That, you'll see. Chester, take this recording to Janus Aramov. Tell him to listen to it, and ask him whether we should broadcast it. It's on your shoulders, okay?"

"Yes ma'am," he said and walked off. I smiled. Now, this was getting good...

My men and I were trailing through the sewers, careful to not step into something that could incriminate us. Chloe was standing by to send out the Bat squad on my signal. Meanwhile, the Vice-president was breathing down my neck to start negotiating with the Blackthroat. About two dozen hostages had been executed already, and them threatening a head of state wasn’t a luxury we could afford. Luckily, I agreed to the president that negotiations could only start once the Bat squad was in place. Anyone trying to talk with them any sooner was risking blowing our cover.

Stepping through the secret doorway leading into the pathway, we had one point to scan the area, while the others fanned out behind him. Once we were in front of the second doorway leading inside the building, I ordered everyone to break radio communications with each other and the outside and rely on hand signals. Meanwhile, I hailed Chloe.

“Send in the Bat squad. I want a hard perimeter around the two buildings. No radio signal can get through. That goes for inter-building communications. I want both towers to be disconnected from each other all way possible. Monitor all phone lines. I want a full layout of where everyone is inside this building. Once you’ve done that, start the negotiations. Try to stall as long as possible.”

“Okay, Jason. Good luck,” Chloe replied.

Those Zubat, Golbat and Crobat were trained to disrupt any type of radio communication making use of waves. Radios, receivers and hands free devices were scrambled to the point of uselessness.

We went through the door, masks covering our faces, and armed with the same weaponry as the terrorists. Amador had been so gracious to tell us what he had sold to the terrorists, even if he didn’t intend do. Analyzing the security footage during the take over, we had learned valuable information, but we had to look out for the same security system now.

There was no way to be sure that the Blackthroat terrorists weren’t controlling the security rooms as well, so we had the architect tell us the locations of all the cameras, being normal or infrared. Having about three dozen mini-scramblers each, we could loop the footage for several seconds, giving us enough time to clear that place without any alarm going off.

We walked into the Westbound building, waiting to see what they were planning to do with us. Though, we had to find that rogue hostage before he made some big fuzz we couldn’t repair.

Silver Etherlight
Westbound UN Building, Security

"The radio's dead... Ah, well, I still have the PA System, but the Secretariat Building would want to know about this..."

Pondering using Loki to move quickly into the next building the transmit the information, Silver quickly dropped the idea, deciding that they would soon realise that communications had been cut off themselves. Which could, and would, only mean one thing, the fighting was about to start soon. In fact, it had likely already started, the invasion that is. The thing was, which building were they attacking first? If it was this one, they had a massive problem, as nothing was showing up on the monitors.
A random marauding hostage was one thing, but a proper task force was another.

Speaking into the microphone for the PA System, Silver gave his orders. Well, not orders per se, considering not everyone here was his subordinate, but he doubted that they would not listen to what he had to say for just a bit, what with the circumstances and all. It was a plan he had, not the best one there was, considering the amount of time he was given to think about this, but it was still a plan that was to be had. Micro-scramblers could only last so long, and he only needed five minutes or so to make sure that he had control over the cameras again.

"This is Silver Etherlight, all forms of radio communications have been cut off, and I believe it is fair to presume we are under siege. Will all personnel please enter the nearest room, previous orders still withstanding, and stay there until further notice, and make sure any Pokemon you have are out and ready upon confirming that the room is safe. Any person unable to prove his identity is to be shot immediately."

This would handle things, even if they were disguised, they would not be able to come up with names, dates, and call signs from nothing and hope to pass it off. What was more, any person entering the execution chamber was to be shot on sight, meaning that even if they were within, the police were going to be unable to do anything to them for now, unless their commander was an absolute genius. He had shown himself to have brains, but the terrorists still had the advantage. They had numbers, hostages, and an overseer roosting upon his throne in a room of wires and steel. He might have been momentarily blinded, but it would not last.

"Thoth, I want you to do a quick sweep of every camera in this building. See if you can destroy the source of the interference, but if not, just tell me if you can see them. Make sure you are not caught."

The PorygonZ did some strange nod thing, and with a noise, entered the security system, acting as his eyes. Surely less omniscient than the cameras, but they would suffice, and they would make his cameras work again, they had better.

Petalburg Gym Leader’s House

The alarm went on, echoing a very loud noise around. I heard people were running towards us from afar, obviously, they wanted to catch us, or at least, they wanted to see what have just happened. “Gengar,” I hissed. “Keep me invisible, they’re currently running towards us, and meanwhile, we’ll search for the necklace inside the house, got it?” I said. Gengar murmured softly, it took me to the house, we went through the people who were running, seeking from where the noise came from, we ignored them, and we just continued to search for the necklace.

Something invisible has just broken through the house! Go, Linoone, use Odor Sleuth!

That’s what I heard from afar, they, the man who said it knew that Gengar and I were inside. He told his Linoone to do Odor Sleuth, which could detect the location of invisible Pokemon. I had to command my Gengar to speed up: “Gengar, they knew that we’re here, now go quicker, we have to find the gold necklace!” I commanded it. Without answering, Gengar floated faster, we passed the first floor and we found nothing, and then we continued to the second floor. The floor contained about hundred doors. I believed, one of the doors contained the Gold Necklace.

“Gengar focus your mind to seek which door contains the necklace!” I commanded Gengar. It landed and put me on the floor, both of us went visible. Gengar closed its eyes and began focusing its mind. The sound of running people was now nearby, I could hear it clearly – it was about to find us. “Gengar, quick!” I said. Gengar opened its eyes; it turned to me and shook its head.

“What do you mean, Gengar?” I asked it, although shaking head globally meant “no” or the variations of it. “Are you – are you saying that there’s no Gold Necklace here?” I asked once again, ensuring. Now Gengar nodded its head. So, the conclusion was: There was no Gold Necklace here.

“Gotcha!”

I turned back, there I saw a man with brown hair was standing with Linoone on his side. He wore a red shirt and black trousers, on his chest, a badge was hanged. He was the Petalburg Gym Leader. “You thieving, I won’t forgive you, Linoone, use Fury Swipes!” the man commanded. Linoone sprinted towards Gengar, it jumped, raised its hands and landed, slashing the air with its claw. I did not command Gengar to avoid the attack, because I knew that physical attacks won’t affect Gengar at all. Shockingly, Linoone’s attack affected Gengar, the slash threw Gengar away, and landed just infront of my feet.
