View Full Version : Annoying elements...

Okay, the purpose of this thread is to just discuss elements in the Pokemon anime that just bug you to no end, be it plot points, or visual elements, or whatever. Not trying to start up a flame thread, either....
And, btw, this refers to the anime in general, not the changes that 4Kids has made to the series.
Anyway, to start off....And this is a rather recent element that the animators have started using...
Is that dang swirly-eyed expression used whenever just about any pokemon in the show faints now!!! >< This aggravates me to no end...
Frankly, it just seems to detract from the more serious moments, like some of the major gym battles, or back in the Silver Conference episodes. I could understand if it were only used sparingly for the more comedic moments, but I feel that many of the battles are just too powerful to have something like that interfer with the emotion.
I mean, a simple cringe would suffice, like in the older episodes...I'm not sure whether the producers felt that children would think some of the defeated pokemon were dead or what, but I'll just never understand why they'd goof up some big scenes with those swirly eyes =_=;....
Agh, anyway, enough of my ranting...What really gets everybody elses' goat in the series?

What gets me? You want to know what gets me? I don't think you can handle what gets me... XD... lol. I love the swirly eyes. It's funny. But what really bugs me are the characters... to childish. They should be more surious... Ash is just... lame, May is annoying and has no clue what she is doing -_-.... Max is just ack! And Brock is cool ^^: I like his character. I would like the stlye the show is drawn in to be more surious as well... it just seems too childish for me...

What i hate most is TR repeating their motto everyday (I watch it here everyday), why doesn't Ash just order his Pokemon to attack when they're talking? =.=
Another thing is, Ash beat every gym leaders only with pure luck.

In the ep "Winner by Nosepass", Ash's Pikachu beats Roxanne's Geodude with an electric attack, how that's possible? Geodude is Rock/Ground type, and ground types don't suffer electric attacks.

Roaming Kanto, Johot and Hoenn with that Pika must have made it at Lv.150-200 maybe thats why electric attacks affected Geodude
Yeah, I have to agree, the Anime is kindda screwed up, I stopped watching it though I LOVE playing the games.

Thats what kinda gets me. I mean, think about it... During the battle with Falkner in Violet City, Ash had trouble even while using his Charizard for petes sake! (If I recall correctly anyways)
Charizard could easily compete in a tournament with extremely tough Pokemon, yet he couldnt handle a Gym Leader meant for Johto Rookies?
Seriously, if Ash has trouble with Gym Leaders, how in the world can beginning Trainers of that specific region be able to beat them? I bet Falkners average Level was at least around 50. It'd take over a year of Training just to beat him and move onto the next Gym. Ash should have no trouble whatsoever with Gym Leaders.
I wonder; Maybe his Pokemon return to Lv5 whenever he goes to a new region?

I personaly hate it when they get into a soap opra type drama :dazed: ! I have all the old episodes on video and most of the 1st Johtos, but I really only like to watch my new DVD of the last 4th seson eps cause of that drama C***. I mean the movies do get a bit erritating with that to! "Oh no! he's dead! Wait.... Yay, he's alive!!!", I hate it when they do that!

I think in the anime, the concept of levels or exp pts, like the games, doesn't exist. Maybe, is all about trainning. I think they know, that Ash can beat all gym leaders easily, but that takes all the fun of the anime. And in each region, he changes all of his pokemon, except Pikachu, so he as to train the newbies to become powerfull, if not, he only could use Pikachu, because all of his team is at low level. I seriously don't understand, why all of his team doesn't reach the last stage, if his so good trainer, I can't understand why.

I think thats cause all the little kids fall in love with the 1 stage (baby) Pokemon so if one evolved that kid who loved that Pokemon might stop watching and that would mean bad TV ratings. I think most of all, Ash's releasing of 1 Pokemon every like 20 episodes kill the series most for me! For any one who saw "Pikachu's winter vacation" would know how funny Squirtle and Bulbasaur were together. And Charizard was jest plain cool.

Actually, I believe levels were mentioned once in one of the earlier episodes. I forget specifically when/if they said it, but I think it was in Season One, where Ash & Co. meet up with this guy who doesn't want to bother battling them since his simulations told him he'd win anyways...
As you can tell, it was a while ago, so forgive the vague description, but if anyone knows which episode I'm talking about, or could point me in the direction of some synopses, that'd be great.

Ah, that was the episode with Giselle (sp?) and the rest of the preppy schoolkids.
I remember her mentioning the concept of levels (she makes a guess that Pikachu is lv. 25 at that point in the series)...which really was kinda stupid, to just have that thrown out anyway :P
And also, it is pretty aggravating to see Ash's pokemon suddenly weaker when he gets to a new area.
Take the current series for example...Did anyone else want to yell at the screen when that Taillow just shrugged off Pikachu's attack? I mean, come on, a normal animal would be DEAD from that amount of voltage, especially considering how powerful Ash's pikachu (supposedly) is.
