What do you guys think is a good grass type pokemon? I'm really frustrated at fighting these swamperts that everyone uses. I sometimes use a ludicolo, but I want one with more "umph", if you know what I mean. I'm thinking of breloom, he looks pretty formidable I think. And I think this is a pretty good moveset for him.

Breloom
- Skyuppercut
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- (Some stat raising move, I hope he can learn sword dance)

What do you guys think? Have any other suggestions for Breloom, or even another formidable grass type?

Breloom or Cacturne. I'd go with Cacturne because I'm sick of Brelooms. Needle arm is dangerous.

I like Breloom a lost, but if you dont want to use him, Ludicolo is another great option. For the last spot, go with Sludge Bomb.

Funny thing is Breloom in my opinion plays barely like a Grass-Type and mostly like a Fighting-Type. Anyways, any competitive or really effective Breloom set contains a) Spore and b) Focus Punch. This combination is deadly. Other moves you can give it are Brick Break, Mach Punch, Hidden Power (anything that uses Attack stat), Substitute or Leech Seed. I wouldn't give it any Grass moves because then you'd have to split your EVs (if you are into that) which would make it less effective.

I would probably make Breloom have Jolly nature over Adamant if possible and focus EVs into Attack and Speed.

Chikorita is a good choice.

Although I love Breloom and Ludicolo, they seem to be more like their other type, I did love Meganium, I used it in Colloseum as an unsuspected Sunny-Beamer and liked it ever since.

I'd suggest Sceptile. It's fast, and it's attack stats are quite good, too. And it learns Leaf Blade.
I wouldn't go with Breloom, since it's special attack stat is a bit low. So Giga Drain turns useless.

Breloom: Only if you want to piss off teams with Spore and stuff.
Ludicolo: If you want a Staller/Rain Dancer Sweeper.
Sceptile: If you want a Subseed.
Celebii: For a Heal Beller, and a Sponge.
Exeggutor: If you abuse Sun in 2on2 Battles.

Just go with what Ness said really.

I like Ludicolo as a staller.

Breloom is cool as Spore Puncher, not as a Grass type... but you can always use anti-standard Pokemon and catch your opponent just when he does not expect it!

Grammar?

Grass Pokemon are good... Fire-Types aren't so great but Grass-Types are fine. True, they don't have a wide variety of attacking moves but it's a decent defending type. Plus they put Water pokemon in their place (well Bulky Waters can take a hit or two) and Water Pokemon are probably the most common-type pokemon there is (virtually all teams have one).

And Gyarados has terrible special attack so there.

You could also try Jumpluff. It can become rather annoying after a while.

Only reason why Gyarados would use a Fire move would be to fend off a Skarm. Otherwise it would be better to use HP Flying or Return on a Grass-Type for that matter. Plus, no experienced trainer would leave a Grass-Type against a Gyarados; that's suicide.

Rather annoying? I HATE that thing. If used at the right time it can be a pain to kill.

I'm not arguing. I'm merely pointing out that Gyardos has terrible Special Attack.

I was netbattling against some guy with HP Grass on Gyarados. I slaughtered him.

So? Besides, not all new people are wrong. This went way off topic.

A good set for Jumpluff would be:

Jumpluff @ Leftovers

-Leech Seed
-Substitute
-Sleep Powder
-HP Ice/Flying

Personally, I'd go with HP Flying because it will get STAB.

Meh... Giga Drain would be better than either HP in my opinion. Jumpluff doesn't have the stats to really damage so you might as well put Giga Drain on for survivability.

The second last note at the bottom if not all of it .
