View Full Version : How to get Bulbasaur on Yellow?

Hello. I'm back again with another question.

I recently found my Pokemon Yellow and I've been playing it alot lately because I got a little bored of Crystal. Well, I have reached Cerulean City where the woman is who gives you a Bulbasaur.

The only problem is, I seem to have forgotten how exactly to go about getting her to give it to me. I have my Pikachu on level 20 and when I talk to it there's a heart in a bubble above its head, and I've just defeated Misty for the Cascadebadge.

I'm not exactly sure on how to get the pokemon. I tried talking to the woman but all she does is berate her Electrode. I tried talking to Pikachu near her too but that doesn't seem to have an effect. Could someone please explain how exactly you get it?

your Pikachu has to be happy or you won't be able to get Bulbasaur. Just don't make Pikachu faint. I'm not entirely aware with how Pikachu's happiness works in Yellow but in GSC Pokemon get slightly happier with items and walking

What do I do once I have the Pikachu happy enough?

Doesn't seem to be working. Is there any other things required other than a happy Pikachu?

EDIT - I've got it now! The walkthrough I was reading said the woman next to the mart, when it is the woman next to the poke centre.

Getting Bulbasaur all depends on your Pikachu's happiness which I don't think is affected by its level. Just keep using lots of items like Potions on Pikachu and its happiness should raise faster (well on top of fighting trainers and not fainting it of course :rolleyes:).

Actually it doesn't matter what the pokemon's level is it's that your pokemon needs to be happy enough to jump up twice.

well to be honest on my yellow my pikachu hated me but i got bulbusaur my pikachu was like lvl 13 lol.... so just as long as u talk to the right person u get it
