The D/P Kick-off Exhibition Match at Wobba Boba
Click to see promotional video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX3IXxUI8gU)
We're having our very first major tournament to start off the most interesting WiFi capabilities of Diamond and Pearl. This is just a taste of the more serious battles that are to come! Come represent your community in what could be all-out war!! (Or if you go it alone, this is your chance to really shine and show the world what a great strategist you are!)
Since this is purely an exhibition match, we're only using Sinnoh Dex (http://www.serebii.net/diamondpearl/shinoudex.shtml) pokemon (See Rules below). It may be a bit limited, but this is the first real test at your skills in strategy. If you can use your closest resources from the very beginning of the game, this can easily prove your nimble wit from the get-go!
This is a randomly seeded double elimination tournament and will be held on Saturday, the 5th of May at 12:00pm (noon) Pacific Time, meaning you have two weeks to have a full team ready. Each round is best of just one game, but Loser's Bracket, Winner's Bracket, and Overall Finals are best of three.
(Anyone living at a very different time zone such as +10 hrs from Pacific Time can try to complete as many matches as they can and continue the next day at any time, but those persons must contact the people they have to fight and organize it on their own.)
The tournament will continue the next day for everyone else as well, and most likely for several more days after.
You can check your time zone by following this link (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html) or this link (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/).
If you do not know how to figure out what time 12:00pm Pacific Time means for you, simply see what time it is in Los Angeles, California on the site's clock that I linked, write it down, then write down your current time. Find out how many hours there are apart either earlier or later, and use that number to figure out how much later or earlier than 12:00pm you have to appear. (The first link does exactly this.)
We'll try and accommodate as best we can for people who are in very extreme time differences by devising quick solutions. You just need to let us know so we can keep a tab.

Here are the rules for this tournament:
This tournament only allows pokemon that are obtainable in Sinnoh before the National Dex. We're not expecting you to complete the game in a week (it seems you can battle from the get-go, anyone please correct me if I'm wrong!), so to make it fair for everyone and to allow a nice absorption of the game that everyone has been waiting for, we're only allowing natives of Diamond and Pearl. Here is a link to the Sinnoh Dex (http://www.serebii.net/diamondpearl/shinoudex.shtml).
You must go to the WiFi option that allows you to automatically set your pokemon at lv.50.
No repeated attached items allowed.
No two or more of the same pokemon on the team.
Banned Pokemon: You may use Sinnoh Dex (http://www.serebii.net/diamondpearl/shinoudex.shtml) Pokemon only. Dialga, Palkia, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Manaphy are not allowed from this list. You can safely assume that Poketore pokemon, the other legendaries, or any other pokemon that are not in the Sinnoh Dex link above are not allowed.
No last pokemon self-destruction.
You may switch your pokemon and/or items around between tournament rounds, but interchanged pokemon/items must still abide by the rules.
Anything obtained or manipulated through a cheating device (Gameshark, Action Replay, etc.) is not allowed.
